Stuck at the "set up your iphone" screen in itunes

I've just done a restore to install 2.0.2 and I've hit continue 3 times at the above page. The phone is showing up in itunes but with no other headings below it. Every time i hit continue it says "restoring iphone from backup"
HELP

Same issue to report here;
guys,
Plugged my iphone in this morning to perform the firmware update;
It did its backup first, then downloaded the new firmware then the phone rebooted, and then ITunes would not recognise it.
I have had to do a restore, the phone now says it has the latest firmware on it, but now whenever I connect it to ITunes, it asks if I want to restore again or set up a new phone!
Am trying one more restore now, from last back up; All my apps and settings are on the phone, but non of my media etc...
EDIT; have tried to restore on 3 occasions now; ITUnes is now always asking me if I want to restore or setup a new phone!
ARRRHHHHHH
I have browsed the forums to try various fixes; made sure my phone is not connected via a usb hub, or via vmware etc...still same issue.
Any ideas anyone?

Normally, I would suggest restoring the iPad and uninstall and reinstall iTunes but you have done both of those things - more times than you ever imagined!
Have you thought about turning auto syncing off?
Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
If you do this you can backup the iPad right away before it syncs. You may want to go into all of the iTunes tabs and just make sure that all of the current content on the iPad is selected to sync before you actually do sync.
This doesn't solve the problem, but it would prevent the automatic sync and erasing content. Hopefully, in the next few days- when iOS 5 is released - you will also be relieved of this weird iPad behavior - since the iOS devices are supposed to become PC free.
BTW - and this is no excuse for what you are experiencing, but I have found that some of the game apps that I had on my iPad turned out to be quite troublesome and after I removed them, my problems went away. I know that is almost sacrilege with regard to the Angry Birds addiction .... But I'm just saying ...

  • Stuck on "Set Up Your Iphone" screen in iTunes

Hi. My OG iPhone wasn't pushing/fetching my email information after I updated my firmware. Help desk suggested I restore. I synced/backed up before the restore. When the iPhone restarted, I restored from the just-made backup and waited for the final restart of the phone. The phone restarted just fine - and the restore was successful - but now I can't get past/rid of the "Set up your iphone" screen. The only button/option is to pick a backup and continue to another restore. I've restored three times now and really just want to know how to get past this point. Thanks in advance.

I just went through this process on the 3G and it works.
I originally ran into this issue after the 2.0.2 update botched my phone and wouldn't reboot, and I had to restore it. So after I restore it, then I hit this bug.
Apple really screwed up the 2.0.2 update. This whole restore process is so egregiously slow - took me 2 HOURS to restore 4 GB of data! But I got all my data back (except for the music, which I still don't understand).
For anyone considering the 2.0.2 update, don't do it. Wait until Apple figures out how to release an update without bugs for once.

  • Set up your iPhone screen doesn't go away!

    Hello all,
My iPhone 3G was running fine until I decided to install the 2.0.2 software upgrade. After doing so, my new iPhone purchased a week ago at the Apple Store was bricked.
After I successfully restored a backup, when I click on my device in iTunes it takes me back to the "Set Up Your iPhone" screen, with the only option being to Continue.
When I click continue, it restores all over again and this whole process keeps repeating, taking me back to the Set up your iPhone screen.
How do I break out of this cycle?
    Thanks for your time.

Click set up as a new phone, as soon as the process starts cancel it on the iPhone. Then also click the x in the status window of iTunes. Unhook the iPhone, and hold the wake/sleep button and home button until the phone shuts off. now press the wake/sleep buton the iPhone will start up. Once it is fully booted up. plug it back in. I bet your issue is gone. POOF!

  • Quite often when I plug in my iPad 2, iTunes goes to the "Set Up Your iPad" screen and makes me restore it. Any way to stop this?

I have had my iPad 2 since the start of June 2011. There are a lot of times when it works great, but I have had trouble sometimes when I sync. Prior problems were with SQLite3.dll, but got help copying that file to the right place. I have also completely uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. However, my biggest problem is that sometimes when I plug it in to sync with iTunes, it automatically goes to the "Set Up Your iPad" screen. It only allows me to set it up as a new iPad, or restore it from a backup. This is happening more and more. So much so that everytime I plug it in and it actually does work, before disconnecting I will right click on the iPad on the left hand bar and do a backup. This is really starting to get on my nerves. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary with my iPad. Just playing some games and having a few other apps. It's so hard when playing some games like Angry Birds, getting 3 stars in all levels, only to plug the iPad in again to sync and have to restore it and lose all progress! Does anyone know why it goes to this screen? It doesn't happen all the time, but I'd say once every 4 times I connect. Also, I'm using Windows 7, and yes, all windows updates are done, and iTunes always is on the most up-to-date version. Thanks for any help!

  • Itunes iPhone page stuck at "Set Up Your iPhone" after recovery of backup

So I tried doing the update, which it failed, and then I had to recover it, which took forever. Anyways everything went all fine and what not, then it asked me to Set up as a new phone, or recover from back up. I did it once, it was fine, when it re-recognized the phone on the iphone, it shows up as my original name on the left hand side above my playlists and everything, but its stuck on that Set Up your iPhone, which means it won't sync and I cant view whats actually on the iPhone. It just continually asks me if i want to restore from the back up or set up as new phone.
I guess i should be glad that I was able to restore, but yeah... I have a new iPhone 16 gb if that matters.

I don't think that I am having the same issue...but a similar issue. Maybe someone can tell me otherwise.
Problem...my iPhone apps started to not work. They would open and then just close themselves.
I decided maybe I should restore my iPhone to fix the problem. I backed up my iPhone and did a restore.
Now When I plug my iPhone into my iMac, iTunes recognizes the iPhone is plugged in, however it brings up Set Up Your iPhone with two options, set up as a new iPhone, and Restore from the backup of...
HOWEVER, there is no button to start this sequence of events that would allow me to sync my iPhone.
    This is very frustrating.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks MacBook hangs at "Setting Up Your Mac" screen

After upgrade install of Mavericks, and logging in successfully one time my MacBook (aluminum unibody late 2008) now hangs at the "Setting Up Your Mac" screen after logging in with password. I can restart the unit with the power button but same thing happens. I powered off the unit, removed the battery and held the power button down for 30 seconds, re-installed the battery and restarted the unit but same thing happens.

Hold the Power button to turn off your computer and turn it on again. Then, see if Mavericks can start up.
If not, hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting and reinstall Mac OS X

  • How do you set up your iphone so when you connect to another computer you have to enter a password before accessing the information?

    Hi
I just want to know how you can set up your iphone so when you connect to another computer you have to enter a password before accessing the information? My friend connected hers to my computer and it asked for a password so I know its a function.
I have a phone password enabled so its not that, any help would be great.

The Passcode Lock prevents syncing the iPhone with iTunes or accessing any data on the iPhone when the iPhone is connected to another computer different from the computer being used for syncing the iPhone.

  • Setting up your iPhone to sync with 1and1 Exchange Server.

_+*You *must have* iPhone firmware version 2.0 and higher to sync to Exchange Services+.*
iPhone and 1and1 exchange work amazingly well. Most folks out there are still using the IMAP side of the 1and1 Exchange service. *"THIS IS NOT FULLY FUNCTIONING EXCHAHGE"*! Here is how to really set up your phone to sync Mail, Calendars, and Contacts with 1and1 Exchange accounts.
    From your home screen:
1: Go to the settings control panel on your iphone.
2: Touch the "*Mail, Contacts, Calendars*" tab.
3: Touch the "*Add Account...*" tab.
4: Touch the "*Microsoft Exchange*" tab.
A screen asking you to "*Enter your Exchange account information*" will appear.
5: type your email address attached to your 1and1.com exchange account.
    ex. "[email protected]"
6: type your domainusername. Your 1and1 username is one that is assigned to you by 1and1.
the username must be typed out in this manner: exchangee123456789
*If you already know your 1and1 Exchange Username then skip to step 7.*
Your 1and1 username starts with an "e" and its followed by nine numbers (ex.: e123456789). If you do not know this username you have to go to your Administrator panel at the 1and1 site,(Here is the URL to the admin page. *http://admin.1and1.com*).At the prompt enter your customer number *which is located on your monthly 1and1 invoice* followed by your password. if you have never seen this control panel you will have to sign in and get a password to access this area. Once in the Admin area under the packages tab click the url labled "*1&1 Microsoft Exchange*". You will now be in the *Administration Tab*. Now under the *communications tool* section click the URL labeled *"Microsoft® Exchange Account Overview"*. You will now see a list of the exchange usernames in that exchange package. Find your username and either print out the page or write the number down.
7: type your 1and1 exchange account password.
8: type a description that best corresponds with your 1and1 exchange account. As a suggestion you should type a description that makes your account stand out. "*ex. 1and1 exchange account*" (this will be helpful later in distinguishing what calendars come from which account if you are syncing multiple calendars.)
9: touch the "Next" button at the top right of the screen.
iPhone will connect with the 1and1 exchange server and authenticate your account. If the authentication fails check one of your entries then try again.
10: once iPhone authenticates your account a field called "Server" will appear between the "Email" and "Username" fields. Enter "exchange.1and1.com" into this field.
11: touch the "Next" button at the top right of the screen.
12: Select which part of the Exchange Services you would like sync with your iPhone.
ie. *Mail, Contacts, or Calendars*. (Simply slide the on or off switch next to the service you either wish to sync or exclude.)
13: once you have chosen your services touch the "Save" button at the top right of the screen.
iPhone will once again contact the 1and1 Exchange server. You will be returned to the mail settings screen.
    You are now done
If you don't have any contacts on your iPhone just go look at your address book now. If you chose to sync your address book all of your contacts have populated themselves into your iPhone contacts tab.
    AWESOME
Welcome to Exchange on the iPhone!
Some thing to try to verify your Exchange account.
1: Create a Calendar or Address book entree in your iPhone. Now watch it appear on your Outlook account.
2: Tell a friend with Outlook to invite you to a calendar event. You will receive an invitation right there on your iPhone screen.
Have fun and enjoy your new iPhone.
+*I would like to thank all of the folks at Apple Computer for their time and efforts in making the iPhone the coolest phone/PDA/game console/business tool in the planet!*+

Unless Apple decides to license ActiveSync from MS, this will not happen.
Apple hasn't done so since OS X was first released for whatever the reason or reasons and although always/never should not be used, I'm not sure how likely this is.
I venture to say that Apple is well aware that the iPhone is limited to business use as is - at least for those with an Exchange account - with a company or IT department not willing to enable IMAP account access for email accounts. Initially, the iPhone was not designed nor intended for the enterprise/business market as is a Blackberry, Palm or Windows Mobile device. It is obvious from the commercials that the focus - at the present time anyway, is as a consumer device. The iPhone/iPod Touch SDK scheduled to be released on March 6 may change this but what will come out of the SDK and when is unknown at this point.
If you need to access your Exchange account with the iPhone and your company and IT department refuses to enable IMAP account access, there are no workarounds for this. There are ways to make accessing an IMAP account secure by requiring SSL for the incoming and outgoing mail servers and the iPhone also supports VPN - virtual private network access which is secure.
Other than that and you don't want to keep the iPhone for personal use, it is probably best to return it and wait until after the SDK is released to see what may turn up.

  • Set Up Your iPhone error, iTunes 10   iPhone 4G

Just plugged in my iPhone today for the first time in a week or two, and iTunes says "Set Up Your iPhone / This computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or another iOS device."
That's ********, this is the computer that's synced with my iPhone. Why does it think that this isn't its right computer?
    iTunes 10.2.2.14 / Windows 7 64-bit
    iPhone 4.3.1 (8G4)
Any tips? I know I could just set it up as a new iPhone, or even restore from backup, and I'd be pretty close, but what a pain. Isn't there some trick to get iTunes to realize that this iPhone has been synced here exclusively before?

Ok; fix is to select the 'New Phone' option. All of my mail, settings, ringtones, ect. are still there, but you need to sync to put your music back on, which you would have had to do anyway.

  • My Apple tv is stuck on the home sharing and settings screen

For some reason my apple tv is stuck on the home sharing and settings screen. Ive already unplugged it and let it reset but its not even giving me the option to go to the home scene..HELP!!?

That is the main menu, however you are not properly connected to the network so that is why the other apps are not appearing.
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
Check that location is set correctly via settings
    If on wifi try ethernet
Make sure router is up to date and has port 123 open (refer to manual if unsure)
