Stuck in disc mode and the restore won't work because of error 1437

I've been stuck in disc mode for over two hours after trying to reset my iPod. I originally had to restore it because it says that there are corrupt files. It went ok until the very end when it said that it couldn't be restored because of error 1437. So, I tried to reset it. Now, it's been in disc mode and nothing is working! I tried to format it from my computer, I tried to restore it multiple times, I tried resetting it again, I uninstalled and installed itunes, I even went as far as downloading the most recent itunes It's just stuck in the same mode and won't let me do anyhting! Also, the nearest Apple store is a 2 hour drive away and I don't have the money for Apple support.Oh, and the ipod is completely empty and it says I have 0 KB available. (Out of a 160 GB iPod Classic)

I understand you are receiving an alert after attempting a restore. You have done several great troubleshooting steps already I see. The other steps I would recommend would be isolating the usb port, reregistering “.dll” files, updating or reinstalling the Windows USB drivers, and possible disabling your security software temporarily. I know the specific alert number you are receiving is not listed, but please use the following article for the steps and information on how to complete these actions.

    Not a great analogy, but this is a user-to-user forum, and Apple will not allow discussion of jailbreaking; if someone tried to help with jailbreaking the message would be deleted. However, if you have a jailbroken phone Apple will generally not block a discussion of how to unjailbreak it. The only problem is that not all jailbroken phones can be restored successfully; it depends on the method of jailbreaking (which I can't discuss without THIS message being deleted).

  • My ipod touch has an "activation required" error and the slider won`t work

    I have an itouch that is only 2.5yrs old and only gets occassional use.  A week ago the slider wouldn't work; power switch didn't work; I reset and then tried (unsuccessfully) to restore to factory settings through itunes but encountered an error.  At that point it appeared to be restored and I had use of original feature (clock, settings, etc) but I could not connect to WiFi and when I tried to connect to itunes again it did not recognize my device and now my Windows does not recognize my device.  It tried to reset again but now I get an "activation required" error and the slider won`t work again.
    I have read of other with the same problem but found no solution

    After being submerged in coffee, did you power the iPhone off right away and if so, how long did it remain off to be completely dry - for the interior, not exterior?
    Did the coffee include cream and sugar? Electronics and moisture don't mix especially with moisture that includes sugar.
    Regardless, sounds like there is some hardware damage especially if not powered off and allowed to dry with the interior before being powered back on.

    Connect your iPad to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
    If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

    Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
    After you have Recovered your Device...Re-Sync your Content

    OR... From a Backup created Before the Restrictions Code was set....

    download a program called RecBoot, very easy to use, connect your iphone and click on "exit recovery mode" and it will restart normally. I had the same problem as you, but I solved it with this program.

    I just bought a used ipod touch 1st gen.  It was fully functional before I wiped it.  I wanted to remove all of the other person's music and personal info before I started using it.     Ive changed the DNS server on my pc, tried R,ec boot Tiny umbrella , had to use Total saver to recover my photos etc , but no idea how to change my iphone from a paperwight back into a phone, it just keeps saying the apple update server is unavailable.
    Its a normal phone nothing done to it , was just updating the software when it went into recovery mode.
    Ive pressed start and home buttons togerther , switched the phone off and on , switched the pc of and on and made sure i have the most recent version of itunes.

    Actually I was stuck with this situation yesterday. Here is what I did to overcome this issue: I hope it helps.
    To start with, here are few things to you should make sure of:
    1- You have the latest version of iTunes. You may try to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
    2-Restart your Windows.
    If still no luck, try editing the Hosts file, here is how;
    1- click on RUN then copy and paste the following:
    notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts 
    2- look for gs.apple.com
    3- if there are numbers infront of it just delete them or just type # before the numbers.
    4- Save the file and try restoring again.
    Note: you should have administror access to edit the Hostes file.
             put your iphone in DFU mode before restoring.
    I hope this helps. It did for me
