Darryl,
Thanks for responding and offering help for my problem.
I do not use Exchange – It is a simple one email account set-up.
I tried removing Office 2010 and reinstalling it without success.
My only thing I can think of is that the .pst file is corrupt. So many friends tell me to use Mozilla Thunderbird, but I love Outlook and all its capabilities.
I have been using Outlook since 2003 and don’t want to change.
Any advice you can give me will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

  • Mail Account is Stuck in Offline Mode-Can't Send or Receive Mail

A friend's iMac (running Leopard) has a persistent Mail problem. His account is stuck in Offline mode (triangle icon with exclamation point). He cannot send or receive email using the Mail app. His account works fine using Safari. Comcast, the service provider, says all settings are correct.
    Suggestions, please!

    Greetings,
It sounds like the Mail preferences file may be corrupt. Try this:
    Quit Mail if it's running.
Go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.mail.plist file.
Restart Mail and setup the account again; Mail will find the existing account folder automatically. Then see if the problem continues.

  • N80 stuck in Offline mode

Hi, have already searched all over the net and on these boards to find a reason and solution but nothing concrete as of yet.
First off I have had my N80 on Vodafone contract for about 5 weeks without any major problems apart from poor coverage changing from O2 in my area and what appears to be a temperamental WiFi (only connects when it feels like it!), using standard Firmware v.3.0617.0.6 03-05-2006. I haven't attempted any 'upgrades' or anything that might carry a risk in causing any problems, so am quite confused why I've got this problem? Especially as it appears others only seem to have got this problem with the N80 AFTER upgrading their firmware themselves etc...
Anyway I've just got back from hospital as been in overnight (tonsillectomy ) and since changing between offline and online fine a few of times it got stuck last night. So now when I try to change back to online mode I get an error "Unable to change profile" (I've tried leaving it switched off for 4hours, removing SIM card, battery and memory card numerous times but no luck).
Before I take it into a Nokia Service Centre I'd like to try accessing a 'Test Mode' to take it out of 'Offline Mode' temperarily then try loading up 'Online Mode' again, as I've read on a couple other forums this has worked for someone that got this after flashing to new firmware. So what free and least hassle app. can I download that will allow me to do this without messing with the firmware or anything? (Nokia Software Updater doesn't support N80 :-/ ) uninstalling all Nokia PC Suite software and drivers, then installing 2 other progs and other drivers with a few reboots thrown in for good measure plus not sure on the reliability of this program with regards to 'messing' with my phone).
Sorry for the long post by the way, but I'm not happy about this and having to go to all this trouble to find any info about this never mind an easy solution.
    Thanks In Advance,

Have you tried to borrow a mate's SIM card (will probably need to be vodafone if phone is SIM locked), and also check if SIM card connector is OK, the metal cover is a little weak so might have got bent.
To check if SIM is working you could launch contacts, and go to options - SIM Contacts - SIM Directory to see if card is alive or not.
last gasp solution might be to backup to memory card and then do *#7370# and then restore from memory card. (you'll probably need to reinstall and SIS apps before doing the restore)

  • Firefox is stuck in Offline Mode-How do I get it in Online Mode

I upgraded to Firefox 4 and cannot get any online pages. I am told to uncheck the Work Offline menu item. Where is this menu?

    Hi there,
The ''Work Offline'' option may have accidentally been enabled. To check this, press the ''Alt ''key to temporarily turn on the ''Menu Bar'', click on the ''File ''menu, and make sure ''Work Offline'' is unchecked.
    Hope that is helpful.

  • My Laserjet 5550 is stuck in "offline" mode.

How can I bring this device back on line? Two computers - a PC and a laptop - both show this printer as offline. This has happened several times over the past three years and the only fix I've found is to reinstall the full driver. There must be a simpler way to get back online. Any thoughts??

I have the same problem with several of my printers and I hope someone can inform us of an easy way to bring the printer back on line.

Cannot send or receive email through Outlook 2010
Running MS Office 2010 Professional Plus on a Dell N5010 w. Intel Core 13 proc. and 4 GB RAM.
Recently discovered my "sent" mail was not being received. I found it all unsent in the "Outbox." A few days later, I stopped receiving email through Outlook. the Outlook ikon: click on it; the ikon shows box w. red X, annotation "working
    offline."
How do I restore full functionality of Outlook?

    Hi,
Which type of email account are you using? POP3, IMAP or Exchange?
Please open your Outlook and click on Send/Receive
tab, check if the Work Offline button is highlighted. If so click the button to deactivate it. Then, restart Outlook to check the result.
If Outlook was still stuck in Offline mode, please try to log into your webmail and check if you can send and receive emails using that site. If you can't, please contact your email service provider for help.
If you can get and send mail on the website, the mail server’s fine. Please try to install all patches for your Outlook. We can also try to create a new mail profile in Control Panel and configure your email account in the new mail profile to check if it

  • Outlook 2010 not showing "you replied on" or reply envelope icon

    Hello
This little issue is driving me nuts! Occasionally, and seemingly at random, when I reply to an e-mail in Outlook 2010 it will refuse to show the "you replied on" status and the icon in the list will not change from the regular one to the one with the little
purple arrow indicating I've replied. This is very frustrating as sometimes I can't remember if I've replied to an e-mail or not, and have to go hunt through my sent items to confirm if I did.
It seems to happen to about 20% of my e-mails and I have no idea why. Is this an Outlook bug?
We're running Exchange 2007 and a BES. I've read that this issue may have something to do with BlackBerry replication; but how do I fix this???

    Hi
    Thank you for using
Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
From your description, this problem might occur if you has a desktop alert for and opens the email with BES or .OST file corrupted.
The Item then gets modified by the BES server.
You type your email and click send.
The reply status does not change.
You can refer to the following KB articles
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917901
We can follow these steps to test this issue:
    1.
Move an offline Outlook Data File (.ost), (link to: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/move-an-offline-outlook-data-file-ost-HA010378297.aspx?CTT=1)
    2.
If you use a third-party program that may be causing this issue, let the third-part program retrieve the e-mail message before you open it. To do this,
wait for several minutes before you open the e-mail message after you start Outlook 2010. The interval of time that you wait varies depending on your computer and on your configuration.
Turn on or off Cached Exchange Mode Outlook 2010
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/turn-on-or-off-cached-exchange-mode-HP010355560.aspx?CTT=1
Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If anything is unclear or if there is anything
I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope that helps.
    Sincerely

  • Using both power saving mode and offline mode caus...

So I am having a very strange problem. I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.
Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.
I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)
I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.
Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode.
This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode. So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)
If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!
    Any help?
    Rob
PS. I also have the problem where using HSPA+ causes my phone to drop from the network and stop being able to receive/make phone calls. But disabling HSPA+ works around this for now, I think this problem is unrelated however.

I have a similar problem. My 808 PureView loses 70% of its charge overnight if I leave it in normal profile without power-saving. To deal with this issue, I started using the situations app to put the phone in power saving mode overnight. That solved the problem (although I never put my phone to offline mode). This is a weird problem because throughout the day my phone doesn't use 70% of charge, but it does overnight while doing nothing!
I have also experienced the second problem, losing cellular and internet connection, on my 808. I have started a thread to deal with this issue.
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-808-PureView-loses-cellular-an...
I believe it is a firmware bug that causes this problem.

  • Outlook 2010 - messages stuck in Outbox

    Hi All,
I'm wondering if you can help? I've seen a lot of forum posts regarding this issue and gone through several steps people found to resolve it. Unfortunately in this instance these steps failed to work.
    Problem:
350Kb email stuck in outlook Outbox (Exchange non cached mode)
    OS & Software involved:
Mail server: Windows Server 2008 R2 running Exchange 2010 14.01.0438
Client: Server 2008 R2 (Remote Desktop Services)  Running Outlook 2010
    Steps Already tried:
» Disabled Antivirus fully and tried deleting
» Removed the attachment from the offending email and tried to delete again.
» Attempted to drag email to new folder but it fails saying message doesn't exist. It may of been moved, removed or access is denied
» Disabled all Add-ins & Tried running outlook in safe mode
» Enabling Cached Exchange mode, allowed to build OST & using Work offline method
» Attaching to users mailbox and deleting from another user
» rebuilt the users outlook profile
When I look at the properties of the outbox (Properties » Folder sizes). It shows the file is still there on the server
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has happened a couple of times for this user now.
    Many Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi,
Have you tried using MFCMAPI tool to look at the Outbox of your mailbox? If not, please follow the steps below to check the result:

  • Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 Offline Address Book Download

    Hi All,
Strange problem that I can't seem to get to the bottom of.
On a couple of users, about 10/100, can't seem to download the Offline Address Book. When they do a manual Download Address Book through Send/Receive Group, the progress window will remain at about 5% and the status will show "Copying Offline Address Book
Template File". If I leave the window, it will be the same for a couple of hours without erroring out.
We have a casarray set up, forced the ports to 59595 and 59596 for the address book as mentioned the guide. We are not doing SSL redirect on the Virtual Directory. Test-AutoConfiguration from Outlook returns the correct entries. Works for most users but
    not all.
On the users that do not work, I've tried deleting the users profile, deleting the Outlook Directory under AppData. Sometimes, magically (for a lack of a better word), if I check the Offline Address Book Directory a few days later, there are files there.
If I then do a manual Download, same thing, the progress bar will be stuck.
Puzzling as I'm not quite sure what else to check.
All clients are on Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave K

I also used your recipe  --disconnect the wireless mouse-- and the OAB update worked right away.
(It is not a Microsoft mouse.   )
    Thanks for the information.
I have been trying to find information on non-HID.
If you have any quick tips or a pointer to info about this, I wanted to get a better understanding of this topic.
Does this "wireless" for the mouse use the same "wireless" for the laptop regular network access via WiFi ?
(We had some evidence that when the laptop did not use the wireless mouse the OAB worked OK and/or when the laptop was running only on WiFi the OAB worked OK.    Not sure if this is all the same root cause.)
Also, does anyone know if this is something that Microsoft will fix at some point ?
We are trying to determine if "few or many" people here might be having OAB failures and have not reported it.
    Thanks again.

  • Office 2010 crashing when in offline mode

I have a strange one here.I have a laptop that was just sent to a user as a replacement laptop. It is running Windows 7 (x64) and Office Suite 2010.When this user opens Outlook while connected to the network (including VPN) everything is happy panda bears. However as soon as he opens Outlook without a network connection, which triggers offline mode (set to automatically detect connection state), it hangs for a few seconds (Not Responding) and then prompts with "Close Program" error window.I can replicate this by selecting the setting in Outlook to prompt for connection state during launch. If I select Offline, it hangs and crashes (same as above), if I select Online, everything works peachy.I've tried deleting and recreating his Outlook profile, to no avail. Checked for updates, system file checker and so on. Finally, I recreated his...

  • Outlook 2010, stuck at updating inbox for users

Hi. I am a support technician at a company.
We had a lot of Windows XP, Outlook 2007, systems, e-mail worked excellent.
We then migrated to Outlook 2010, the XP systems continue working without problems.
However I've been having some random Windows 7 systems, Outlook 2010, having this issue of the inbox not updating, it just stays stuck at "Updating Inbox" and can stay like that for the whole day.
This is causing issues because some of those users are VP and of course want their email right away.
I've tried recreating ost, profile, and issue reappears. However I'm not sure if users don't report it, or if it's just random, because I don't hear about it everyday, just randomly maybe once a week or two times a week.
None of what I've tried has work, new ost, new profile, repair account, even a new installation of Office. Issue keeps reappearing. Safe mode has same problem. OWA and phones update right away.
The closest I've come to sort of fixing it is running a repair of Office, after the repair, the emails go through right away, but then issue reappears days later.
I'm not really sure what could be causing this. I've searched online and seem to find a lot of similar problems with no conclusive solution.
Some of the things in common, these users receive lots of emails in the mornings, have lots of folders underneath inbox.
If only it would download them slowly, but it just appears stuck when this happens.

    Hi,
According to your description, if owa works fine, it most likely a outlook client issue.
I recommend that you post this in office forum, there will more experts to help you:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 email stuck at outbox, the mail will successful send out after you restart the outlook

    Dear Mdm/Sir,
I've a problem on Microsoft outlook 2010 with service pack 2.
Sometime it cannot send out email, the email will stuck at outbox.  It only work after you restart the outlook and resend.
I've add the 2 email account into this Outlook profiles and running at Windows 7 professional Operating system.
I've try run the Outlook into safe mode, but it can't solve the problem too.
I also create a new email profile and user profile, but still cannot solve the problem.
    Please help,
    Thank you,
    Wcnw

Can you please check onto the Exchange server, the Outbox folder size and Items in it. Use the below command to verify the Outbox folder.
    Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -Identity <Alias> -FolderScope Outbox
Look out for ItemsInFolder and FolderSize. If it displays content in it, you would need to remove the emails from the Outbox Folder. The Outbox folder can be accessed from the OWA light version.

  • Outlook 2010 going into "Online" mode

Hi friends, i need assistance in getting this issue sorted. Here is the situation:
My client has a small user base (around 25 users) where all users work on Citrix Terminal Server and access their emails using Outlook 2010. As the client has multiple domains, so all users have more than one email addresses configured in their outlook.
They are running on-premises Exchange Server version 2010
Outlook for all the users is running in a non-cached mode, so Outlook status always says "Online with: Microsoft Exchange" (as expected). I have a single user whose one of the 3 email accounts status changes to "Online"
mode from "Online with: Microsoft Exchange" after few days. When the status says "Online", his outgoing emails for that particular mailbox gets stuck in Outbox and the entire Mailbox goes dumb. Only
resolution so far discovered is to recreate his Outlook profile. This is just a sort of workaround. I have also searched event logs on the Exchange Server and Citrix Terminal Server, nothing relevant found. I have also tried creating his new Citrix Profile,
hasn't made much difference. Is there anyone who has experienced the same issue or can help be diagnosing the problem? Your response will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,
When the status change to "Online", we may first try sending email from OWA to see the result.
In addition, we may also check the Outlook Connection Status. To do this, hold
Ctrl key and right click Outlook icon in system tray, and then select
Connection Status. Check if the Status column shows Established or Disconnected.
If the status shows Disconnected, we may try to run Test Email AutoConfiguration tool to see if Outlook connects to a correct record. To do this, hold
Ctrl key and right click Outlook icon in system tray, then select
Test E-mail AutoConfiguration. Type the email address and password, keep only "Use AutoDiscover" selected and click
    Test button.
Please provide us with the results you get for further troubleshooting.

  • Outlook 2010 shared mailbox in cache mode not updating Inbox automatically

I have a user who has XP on his desktop, running Outlook 2010, connecting to a Exchange 2010 w/SP2.  I recently added a shared mailbox for him to monitor. I did it the old way by adding additional mailbox to his client (outlook 2010) pc.. I understand
now  that in 2010 SP1 or greater that you can simply do this from the exchange server by granting full access permissions.  Either way, the user sees the mailbox and gets email in the shared mailbox ONLY when he clicks on the inbox and
clicks on Update Folder. For some reason it is not auto updating new email. His personal account works fine, meaning when a new email is received it comes in and you see new mail.  The account is in cache mode and I've looked at other shared
mailboxs that are working fine and the settings look the same? I'm not sure why this shared mailbox is not updating?
    William McConnell

I can see this is an old thread but I have a relevant question.
This workaround does indeed work but what else is possible to do? The cashed mode is more or less necessary when working with large shared mailboxes.
