  • Iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode loop (non-jailbroken)

This is frustrating me to no end!! I tried to update my iphone 4 to IOS6 via itunes, didn't work because my mac needed at least itunes 6.3.1 but it said everything was up to date. So i tried using a newer mac with an updated itunes, failed after about an hour, & got stuck in the recovery mode loop. Everytime i try to connect to itunes & restore my phone to update, a message pops up saying "could not be restored. this device isn't eligible for the requested build". I've been watching youtube videos for about this for an hour now, nothing. I'm about to go insane, so if anyone has any idea of how i can get out of the loop, that'd be great!!

Apple doesn't fix phones they replace them.
The iPhone warranty is NOT international.  You need to return the phone to the country in which it originated (the EU is considered ONE country for warranty purposes)

  • Iphone 3G stuck in recovery mode loop

okay...i'm sure there a lot of topics on this, but i can't find anything is fixing the issue. i traded my 32gb ipod for a 16gb iphone 3G. i traded it mainly because i wanted to unlock it to t-mobile. i wanted to updated it to ios4 so i wouldn't have to keep unlocking it after each iphone/ipod update. so i updated it, and it went into recovery mode. i tried putting it into dfu mode, and it's stuck in recovery mode. i've tried restoring it and it just loops back into recovery mode. i've tried the whole "hold down the both buttons and release the sleep button but hold the home button until this happens" thing. i'm starting to get really frustrated. i tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling itunes and the same thing happens. NOW.... i'm getting an error that says that itunes cannot recognize this iphone because of an unknown error. do i need to downgrade os? how do i do that? i just need to be able to get it out of recovery mode so i can unlock it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

I had the same issue. After updating to the new OS4, my iphone failed on a restore. It was stuck in recovery mode. You have to hold down the home key for 7-10 secs, connect to PC(if that's what you are using) and plug into iTunes. Keep holding the button down until iTunes recognizes the phone. You will be given an option to restore to old or update and restore as a new phone. I did the update and restore as my old backup file was corrupted somehow. Unfortunately, I lost everything since my last sync. Still trying to figure out how to extract contact and pic data from an old backup i had saved on a thumbdrive. Good luck!

  • HT201210 Stuck in recovery mode loop on ipad1 with blank screen!!!! After updating to 5.1.1 and error code 37.

Help! i dont know what to do. I need this iPad for college and it's stuck in recovery mode but the screen is blank. I tried downloading to newest itunes, press and hold both home button and power button. NO Joy! i shouldn't have ever updated! It worked just fine.

    Force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times.

  • 1 week old iPhone4 stuck in Recovery mode loop

    Hi there
today when I connected my ip4, iTunes asked me to download and install the latest iOS 4.0.2, after that it went into a recovery mode loop and I cant do muh more. I have so far tried to restore using 3 other pc´s, xp and Win7. Tried different USB cable, disable firewall/antivirus, but nothing helps. I am constantly getting an error 9, but I have seen error 2009 and 3194 as well (tried about 10 times so far).
Dont know what else to try
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I had same problem. When upgraded to 4.0.1 I had to take it to apple store to be reset. Tried everything. When it happened with 4.0.2 they gave me a new phone. Sadly I had to reload 30g of music/movie/app twice. Glad I have a better option if it happens next time.

  • Ipod Stuck in recovery mode loop and must be restored every 2 days

    Hi everyone,
I have a Fifth Generation Ipod Video 30 Gig that I purchased from an Apple store sometime in july and it has given me nothing but problems. 3 weeks into using it, the ipod tells me that it is in recovery mode and must be restored. I restore it and it continues to give the same message until I finally disconnect it and wait a good 20 minutes before it finally allows me to activate it. A week later, the Ipod needs to be restored again and the same incident occurs. I have changed the drive letter 13 times (currently on letter Z), used every version of itunes (old and new), changed the type of files I upload, etc. but nothing works. The worst part is that after restoring it, the Ipod works for a few days before it relapses again. Worst of all, I use it for less than an hour a day.
I even went to the Apple store after i restored it and the "genius technician" synced my ipod and said there was nothing wrong with the Ipod. I have seen many people in the forums cite hard drive failure as the cause of this problem but I cannot convince the "genius technicians" at the Apple store that this is the problem.
Please help me resolve this frustrated, unwarranted, and expensive problem!!! Your help is most appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Ice

I have tried connecting the ipod via the front and back USb 2.0 jacks on my desktop. I have only one external drive connected to the computer. Doesn't matter whether I remove it or not, the same problem occurs. I do not have a network. My drive letter for the ipod is letter z so it is not disk recognition which is a problem. 1/3 of my music comes from I-tunes, the rest I rip from my Cd's (like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Dir en grey). I only used about 650 MB worth of the ipods 30 gig drive capacity. Doesn't matter which version of the itunes software I use, it gives me the same problem. The recovery loop occured after just after 2 weeks of purchasing it from the apple storeand I took it back with only 12 songs in it. The restored it and 10 days later, the same problem occured. Recently, the ipod has been entering the recovery mode much more frequently prompting me to believe the hard drive is malfunctioning.
I have scanned my computer and the Ipod with everything from Norton, AVG, McCafee, and trendmicro and found no viruses, bugs, worms, etc.
Any suggestions to help me resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ice

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen stuck in recovery mode loop and unable to restore

    Hello,
I attempted to download and update my iPod to IOS 8 wirelessly on the release date Sept. 17.  After a few hours of downloading, I plugged my iPod into its charger to allow for the installation to complete.  I went out for a few hours that evening and returned to find my iPod touch with the recovery mode image (cord hooking up to iTunes).  At first i tried to kick it out of recovery mode by using some 3rd party applications.  Every time that happened, it would reset my iPod only to return to the previous image (cord hooking up to iTunes).  After this, I gave up trying to just kick it out of recovery mode and just restore it using iTunes.  For the last 3 days, I have continuously  attempted to restore my iPod but i am never able to successfully download the software.  I have received multiple errors regarding "failure to connect to update serves" or "session has timed out".  Most of the time,I ca't even get to the Terms and Agreements popup.  The window simply says "attempting to connect to update server."  In the extremely rare case that I get passed the terms and agreements pop up and begin the download,  the approximate wait time always exceeds 80 hours, and then an error is detected shortly after stating the  "failure to connect to update serves" and "session has timed out" errors.
I would simply like to be able to restore my device and make it usable so it is not a metal and glass "brick".  Any help in this matter is much appreciated. Thanks.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Nano (6G) Stuck In Recovery Mode Loop

    Hi guys,
I recently found that my iPod Nano (6G) wouldn't turn on. That was until I plugged into my Macbook Pro and it told me I had to perform a recovery.
So, after performing this recovery and erasing all the data, it just told me the same over and over, never displaying anything except "Do No Disconnect" or "OK To Disconnect" on the screen, even after I've ejected it.
This happens every time I plug it in and nothing will appear on the screen unless I do so. I've read on other pages that it can be a drive letter mix-up, but that only appears to be a solutions for PCs.
    Any help is hugely appreciated!

I have this same issue with a 2nd gen iPod. Being instructed to remap the drive letter when windows says the drive is unreadable is not an option. Not possible. The drive does not show in the top half of the device manager, so therefore cannot be right-clicked. Anyone have another suggestion? (the ipod exists in iTunes in a "restore loop" - I discovered it being unreadable when I tried to reformat it).

  • My iPhone 4 is stuck in recovery mode. I have tried all of the recommended actions but nothing has worked. The phone will also not turn on if not plugged into the charger. Help please! So frustrating

One day the phone just got stuck on ios6 screen then once unlocked it said plug into iTunes. Once I did the phone will not allow me to complete a restore. At the last stages the phone will cut off. I have asked a friend to have a look and he thinks it is stuck in recovery mode loop? I don't know what else to do. The phone is not under warranty and I bought it second hand before Christmas. Please give me any help or advice.

Sounds like a hardware failure. Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store. There is no magic that can fix a hardware failure.

  • IPhone 3GS stuck in recovery mode while updating to iOS 6.1

Hello there, I was updating my iPhone 3GS(New Bootrom) from iOS6.0 to iOS 6.1. While it was updating, iTunes suddenly ends up saying error and now my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode loop. I've tried DFU mode on my iPhone and try to kick it out by using TinyUmbrella but the computer doesn't reconize it. And when it was on recovery, iTunes doesn't reconize too, a window pops up and says i have to install 'Apple Mobile Device'. I've re-install and install iTunes a couple of times and nothing is working. Switching on and off the iPhone doesn't work too. Please, someone help me with this problem! I really do not know what to do! Please reply this As Soon As Possible!

Ok. I have spent the last 8 hours researching this problem and have the absolute 110% answer to everyone's problem with this issue.
Error 13 and 14 : Are checksum problems with the firmware image that is in the update package.
The update package is a .ipsw (IPod or IPhone SoftWare). This file is actually just a .zip renamed .ipsw.
The error is caused by a failure to download a crc-free version of the file. Not really sure why there are so many crc problems with the iphone updates, but Apple does not check the integrity of the update package before wiping your current version of IPhone software and that is why all IPhones that start an update with a bad update package end up in recovery mode. These errors are NOT related to the iTunes installation, antivirus software, or firewalls.
Recommendation : use a program like "Object Fix" (Freeware) to verify the integrity of the file prior to commencing with any new updates. You will have to keep trying to download it until you get a error free file. Once you have a CRC error free file this problem will go away. (I thought TCP/IP helped get rid of CRC errors.)
I had another problem and that was...
Error 1603 and 1604 : These are USB driver connectivity problems.
Recommendation : FULLY uninstall and re-install itunes software as stated in the Apple support documentation. Be sure to reboot between each step and these problems should clear themselves up. In addition, firewalls and anti-virus software may cause these errors as well.
Finally, shame on apple for not properly documenting their software so that end users do not have to decrypt their error messages with no true support to solve the issues. These are problems that enough people have had that there should be specific documentation on these problems.

  • IPad 2 3G recovery mode loop - tried everything

Hello to all the community. I have an iPad 2 3G version. Update on 7.1 stuck on 60% and since then I am stuck in recovery mode loops with restores never going past 60% and get error 1 or 2 after 30 minutes on itunes.
    What I have tried:
Different USB port, Computer, Cable, iTunes version, firmware version
    DFU mode
Restore with main buttons cable disconnected from the board
I am really desperate. We dont have official apple service in my country and i will cost me more to fix than buy a used working one.
Its really unfair killing my ipad from an official update. Never jailbreaked etc so I cant try to downgrade either.
    Hope someone has a solution...

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Configure your security software
    Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020, 1669.
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Error 1015 might happen after making unauthorized modifications to iOS, also called "jailbreaking."
