Stuck in restart mode because I forgot my ipad passcode

I decided just to restart my ipad but its asking me to put in my pass code which I have forgotten. I followed the instructions by turning off my ipad and using iTunes to factory reset my ipad. However, its not allowing me to do so by saying "its locked with a passcode please try again"  Can anyone help?

Read this article and see the sections about using Find My iPhone to restore and unlock the iPad or if that isn't feasible try using Recovery Mode.

  • Stuck in Restart mode

My iPod froze and I tried to restart it and nothing worked. I plugged it in to my computer and now it is stuck in restart mode and there is an Apple and it's blinking not doing anything.

I have tried everything and nothing seems to be working. Resetting, uninstalling, etc. Now when I plug it in to my computer it says it's in recovery mode and it needs to be restored. When I do that and after it "restores" it says Error 1611....

  • My (relatively) new MBP is stuck in restart mode.  "your computer is already restarting" HELP PLEASE.

I have noticed when I restart my computer, the finder gets stuck and there are no icons on my desktop.  If I restart, they will usually come back.
I am still paying off my MBP which cost nearly 2k.  I was going to upgrade to Apple Care as soon as it's paid off next month.  Unfortunately, the 90  day "complimentary" phone support expired last month and my MBP is now stuck in restart mode.  If i click on the keyboard restart button, I get "Your computer is already restarting".  It's been like this for 15 minutes so it looks stuck.
    Can someone please help?

If I click on itunes or mail, it cancels the restart but still no icons on desktop and still unable to restart or shut down.
Please help, someone.  I don't know how to restart this thing...
I'm on Mavericks if that helps (I also had upgraded to Yosemite and had audio interface problems so reverted back to a TM backup which is when this started)
If I attempt the command + R, the computer will make this clicking noise over and over...
It's clearly stuck.  What can I do?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • I forgot my ipad passcode.  I tried to restore ipad using the recovery mode option.  However when I try this iTunes askes me to turn off the "find my ipad" option (which of course I cannot do as I cannot open the ipad).

I forgot my ipad passcode.  I tried:
    1. Simply to restore the ipad on the computer it is normally synced with, but it askes me to enter the passcode.
    2. to restore ipad using the recovery mode option.  However when I try this iTunes askes me to turn off the "find my ipad" cloud option (which of course I cannot do as I cannot open the ipad).
    3. to remotely erase my ipad, but as it is locked down it does not seem to be connecting to the internet and hence cannot seen through my "find my ipad".
I am completely stuck!  Any suggestions please?!?!?

  • Forgot my Ipad passcode, without restoring it?

I forgot my Ipad passcode, and tried too many times to unlock it, that now it says that i have to contact Apple. I've read that you have to restore it then, but i really don't want to do that, because i have really important information on there. ()
But, is there a way were you don't have to restore it?

No, you must restore it, otherwise any iPad thief could get at the owner's data as well.
If your backup is on your computer, simply restore your iPad using iTunes and choose a new passcode.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

hi my ipod 5th gen is stuck in recovery mode ive tried everything and nothing is working

Only developers have access to the iOS 7 beta and then also have access to the developer forum. Thus, if you are a developer go the the developer's forum.
Otherwise you have a bootleg coy of iOS 7 and are on your own.

  • Forgot my ipad passcode

I have forgotten my ipad passcode, and i have never synced my ipad with a computer! How do I reset it?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode

  • IPod stuck in restart mode

I tried to restart my ipod when it was skipping last week and then after I got the apple image the folder came on. It won't restart itself it just keeps cycling through those images. I can't turn the ipod off or do anything. I've tried reloading all of the ipod and itunes software, plugging it into my computer. Have tried restarting it over and over. Charged it multiple times, nothing works. Anyone have any ideas? Or a way I can contact Apple by email? I'm in France for the next few months and can't really call back to the states to be on hold for hours to figure this out. Thanks for the help.
