Stuck in restore because of error

I bought an IPOD 8gig used.
I wanted to wipe the other users information and downloads from the IPOD.
I did a system restore home sleep key hold and placed the IPOD into restore mode.[to format]
I had connected and downloaded ITUNES from the most obivious link.
after words the pc chrashed while in restore mode. [ suht down in the middle of it]
when i tried to complete the restore the program cept restoring to the download in a cache tempory location which made it imposable to redownload the update.
error 1604 unknown.
ok so i continue to try for 2 days to get this thing out of restore and get the software needed to reset it to factory.
no disks its a ipod touch.
it completly crupted my computer resulting in an image restoration.
guess why?
the driver installed that my pc was trying to use was a windows 7 driver..
I'm running windows xp sp3
clean install of ITUNES
reading more slowly i noticed a linlk to itunes 10 download at the bottem of the obivius download link page.
which took me to a detail page for the itunes 10.6...blka bla bla download
at the bottem of the left column on the page is a very small JVA link to get itunes for windows.
I clicked and downloaded and am now getting the 3 gig software for my IPOD Touch.
system restore before you installed itunes and get the download from there

Jumped the gun this did not work same result.
error1604.
using ipod on a new computer.
thinking maybe something to do with the 5 computer limitation?
trying to download  from another source other then itunes support.
There really is no help for this at all no explanation or anything....
I dont understand how these things even sell ?
It had the software on it and was working the battery was fully charged before attempting to restore the firmware.
I have DSL and have downloaded the firmware twice from itunes .
itunes sees my ipod touch but can not use it untill it is restored.
so the usb should be fine.... right?
also wondering if i open the ipod up and remove and reinstall the battery if it wont reset a lockout ?

  • My 4th Gen iPod wont restore because of error 3194. PLEASE HELP?

It went into recovery mode, and so i plugged it into iTunes. However when I plug it up it says it needs to be restored, and it wont restore because of error 3194. Nothing I have read yet is helping.

Okay! I may have a solution for some of you! I have a 4th gen click wheel, and it was doing the whole restart thing over and over, but never getting past the apple logo.
You need to get to the diagnostic mode. To do this I had to hold down the select and rewind buttons at the same time. (for some models it's the sel/ff buttons or the ff/rw at the same time. The Apple logo will briefly appear backwards, and then you should hear a chime. My screen came up as:
    IRAMPASS
    PLAY TO CONTINUE
    (and some other junk)
    press play.
Another menu will come up, scroll through the menu (my Ipod I had to click ff to scroll through. There were 3 pages to scroll through. I got to disk mode on that menu and with the ipod connected to my computer, I started disk mode. Once disk mode started my computer recognized the ipod (finally) and I was able to restore from the computer.
I did lose all the music stored on it, but I'm happy to have made this progress, considering when I got this ipod from a friend two days ago, who was about to throw it in the garbage, it would not even turn on!
    Hope this post helps someone!

Hello everyone, I am trying to restore my iPhone 4s and every time I try restoring it, it always goes to about 75% of the process then it says the iphone could not restore because of error 1. This is not error -1 it is error 1. I reserached this error and it said to make sure I have the latest version of iTunes, i do, To make sure i have a security software updated, i do, and ive done everything it tells me to do yet it wont let me restore my iphone. Before I tried restoring it, it was working perfectly fine besides the battery which i have just replaced yesterday. Ive tried restoring it in two different computers with two different cables but still no luck. I found this phone at a park and it was working perfectly fine until i tried restoring it. I have no idea what to do now. I appreciate your guyses help!

This error generally indicates a hardware failure.  Bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

  • Ipod stuck in restore mode with error 1611,HELP

I have a ipod the is stuck in restore mode with an error code of 1611. I have tried everything that is posted. Any other suggestion?

Hey i HAVE/HAD the same problem but right in THIS moment i solved it! And i'm gonna tell you how:
    1) You have to uninstall ALL the programs that are from Apple.
    2) Go into control panel if you are on a windows and delete everything that says Author (Apple inc.)
    3) Here is a list of every thing you have to Uninstall:
    Apple application support
    Apple mobile device support
    Apple software update
    Bonjour
    iTunes
    Quicktime player
    Safari
    4) After that just go to Apple.com and download the lastest version of iTunes!
    5) Install it and sync your iPhone/iPod Touch out of Recovery mode.
i hope that helped you, it sure did to me. bye

You can't get help here because you jailbroke -- probably wasn't the best idea. Try Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808. You can avoid problems like this in the future by not jailbreaking.

  • IPhone 4s stuck in restore mode. Error (-1)

I saw a few hours ago that my iPhone doesn't play any sounds over the speakers. I tried to switch it off and on again but it didn't work. Then i tried to restore it with iTunes. While it was restoring my iPhone it also loaded iOS 5.0.1. After some minutes an error occured (-1) and the restore stopped. Now my iPhone always says that U have to connect to iTunes and then wants to do a restore. I'm now stuck in an endless loop and can't get the iPhone out of it.
Did somebody have the same problem or does somebody know a solution?
    I'd be really thankful.

Unfortunately the restore did not solve the connectivity problem, but it made it even worse. The phone was not connecting to the carrier at all, constantly showing "Searching...". I tried another restore, this time it failed on three different computers (one of them was a fresh iTunes installation)... Strange, that it worked once.
@Unshaven: Multiple combinations of Power and Home button did not work either. Seems to be bricked now. I think I have to return it to Apple ...
Btw. Windows iTunes showes some log errors like 'getenv radio-error' failed and DoesDriverNameMatchDeviceID failed.
Any ideas welcome also regarding the issue of loosing connectivity to the carrier...

  • How can I fix these many errors? I tried cropping a photo on my iPod touch, and then the whole thing crashed and said "connect to itunes" now itunes isn't letting me do a restore because of error 3194 and I don't have a warranty, somebody please help.

  • My ipod classic had an error of 1439.It finally let me restore it and now it says it cant restore because of error 1439. why?

My ipod classic had an error 1439. It finally let me restore it and now it says error 1439 again and wont let me update my ipod. Why?

    Hey there Palmer
    How are you?
Well, I have an iPod Classic, it gave me the error -1436 error and would not restore on iTunes.
    I did the following:
My Boss (@work) has a fairly old iBook but it has OS-X, so I decided to give it a try and connected my iPod to it.
The system showed a window telling me that the disk is not MAC formated and needs to be validated prior further action. Snce it is a Mac product, I thought "yeah, go ahead".
It then opens the disk manager utility for the Mac and showed the disk. It's window has some tabs, one is to verify the disk, so I verified it. Guess what, it had some invalid clusters.
Then I formatted the iPod to OS-X Plus file system (next tab to the right). After formating the iPod, I "ejected" the iPod and reconnected to my PC. The Windows iTunes found an iPod with Mac file system and asked me to restore it. As I clicked on the "restore" button, I crossed my fingers as this was the last resource I have.
Finally, after the file extraction was done, it began to restore the iPod!!
I'm so happy about being able to restore the iPod that I decided to share with all you guys this solution as it is the most usefull, in my opinion.
Hope you can find someone with an iBook or a desktop Mac, so you can fix yours.
If it works for you, make sure to share the tip!!
    Kind regards

  • Ipad won't restore because of error 23

My iPad original (3g & wifi) will not restore. It goes through extracting software, preparing, and then stops flashing up error 23. I've restarted in dfu mode and still nothing. Can anyone help?

Maybe your firewall and antivirus software are causing a confilct.
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 37
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Ipad2 stuck on restore with unknown error(-1)

I have an iPad2 64G GSM and last day it starts restarting every minuit. Then I try to update to ios 5.1 that may be it solve the problem but restore process goes almost until 90% and the pops up "unknown error(-1) and all over again. Now I lost my old ios and I can't restore to new one and it seems that ipad is gone!!
Please help me what can I do?

Thanks for the pointer to the KB article. Error 1 is missing from the list provided by iTunes (more information), but I was afraid it means hardware. Will try on another computer, but I'm afraid the phone is sick.
    Thanks,

  • HT201413 iPod Touch has problem restoring because of error code -1?

Can someone explain to me why I can't restore this?

    gerrno-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
This falls into the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" category.
    1. You should be at version 2.2.5 or later on the AHT. My guess is that this is the root of your problem.
    2. You can't. Only Apple Authorized Service folks can do that. They have the special CD of software.
    3. Since it has been working fine my guess is that nothing is wrong.
    Luck-

  • Stuck in disc mode and the restore won't work because of error 1437

I've been stuck in disc mode for over two hours after trying to reset my iPod. I originally had to restore it because it says that there are corrupt files. It went ok until the very end when it said that it couldn't be restored because of error 1437. So, I tried to reset it. Now, it's been in disc mode and nothing is working! I tried to format it from my computer, I tried to restore it multiple times, I tried resetting it again, I uninstalled and installed itunes, I even went as far as downloading the most recent itunes It's just stuck in the same mode and won't let me do anyhting! Also, the nearest Apple store is a 2 hour drive away and I don't have the money for Apple support.Oh, and the ipod is completely empty and it says I have 0 KB available. (Out of a 160 GB iPod Classic)

    Hi JLeeAnne1993,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you are receiving an alert after attempting a restore. You have done several great troubleshooting steps already I see. The other steps I would recommend would be isolating the usb port, reregistering “.dll” files, updating or reinstalling the Windows USB drivers, and possible disabling your security software temporarily. I know the specific alert number you are receiving is not listed, but please use the following article for the steps and information on how to complete these actions.

  • I can't restore my iPod touch because of error 3194. I've tried pretty much everything and it still won't restore. Help?!

I turned my iPod off last night and when I went to turn it back on, it got stuck on the logo. I tried to reboot it but it got stuck again. I waited about 15-20 minutes before rebooting it again. It got stuck once again. I plugged it into the computer. The logo came back up but it went away and it showed that I needed to download music from iTunes. I got on iTunes and said it found an iPod in recovery mode and it needed to be restored. Before restoring, I downloaded the updated version of iTunes. After trying to restore my iPod, it said it could not be restored because of error 3194. I then turned my firewall off, opened ports 80 and 443. Nothing seems to work. If you can help. Please do. Thanks.

Did you ever jailbreak or mess with TinyUmbrella? Sounds like your Hosts file is mucked up and pointing the wrong way.
