Stuck in speaker mode

i have had my ipod for a few years now and when i turned it on this morning, it would not go off of speaker mode when i put the headphones in. when i put the headphones in, the ipod plays through both the headphones and the speaker. what should i do?

First make sure the headphones are all the way in, meaning the white plastic part is flush with the Nano and no silver from the plug can still be seen.
If that doesn't help, try a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Calling stuck in speaker

    Hello,
    I own Blackberry Z10.
Today I tried for the first time the headset that came with the phone. I made a call and it worked nicely. When I unplugged it and tried to make another call, i realized the phone (during the call) was stuck in speaker mode and it wouldn't allow me to change it to the handset mode. I click it and it does nothing.
When I replug the headset the options of handset, speaker or headset mode apear and I can change among them properly - they all work. When I select handset and unplug the headset again it switches to speaker.
I can't talk on my phone unless I use the headset or speaker. I tried a factory reset already but the problem remained.
    Best regards,
    André

I somehow got this solved by installing the Blackberry Virtual Expert. I performed all the tests and restarted and it came back working.

    Hi Guys,
My iPhone is stuck in a mode where it thinks the headset is still plugged in.
I cant get any sounds through the speaker. Cant hear sms or emails arrive. If the phone rings i hear it but pple cant hear me or i cant hear them.
The phone works fine with the headphones plugged in.
I have tried all the usual solutions, inserted and removed the headset (at least 50 times)
    Soft reboot
    full restore
Nothing seems to work. I have searched on this and it seems to be a well know issue but there doesnt seem to be any firm solutions that i can find to fix the problem

If no change after inserting and removing the headset at least 50 times, powering the iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, and restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

  • Speaker problem "stuck" to headphone-mode ?

Got some problems with the speaker right now.. I can't hear the person calling me.. But if I use headphones it will work.. It's like the phone is stuck to headphone-mode, or what to say, Can't hear music from spotify/youtube from the speaker, I can listen to the ringtones in the settings, But i can't listen to music / hear people calling me..
I have restarted the phone like 5 times and nothing happens,. I also tried to reset the phone..
Anyone got the same problem ?.

Check the headphone jack for debris one more time. The symptoms certainly suggest that debris is the cause. Shine a light down in there.(Be Careful)
Restore "As a New Device". The backup can put a glitch back on the phone. If that does not work, use your warranty. If you are out of warranty, restore again and unplug to test before choosing from backup or as new(sometimes corrupted data on the iphone can cause strnage behavior).
If all else fails check on price of out of warranty repair.

  • My ear bud aux piece is stuck in my headphone port. Is there a way I can turn all my volume on speaker mode?

My ear bud aux piece is stuck in my headphone port. Is there a way I can turn all my volume on speaker mode?

As long as there is material stuck in the port, the external volume will be disabled. I suggest you take it to an apple retail store or call 1-800-APL-CARE for service

  • HT1414 My speaker works but the phone appears to be stuck in silent mode.  Already did a restore!

I have an Iphone 4s that works fine the speaker is working but all incoming calls are silent.  Like it is stuck in silent mode.  I have already dont a restore but still the same.  Can anyone help me?

You probably did a restore from backup. Do a restore but do not restore from backup. See if that works. if not - service

  • Stuck in loud speaker mode

I have an ipod nano 4th generation that is just over a year old. I have had no problems up to now. A few weeks ago i went to turn my ipod on and play my music through my headphones and it was almost like the ipod would not register that there were headphones plugged into my ipod and it was playing on loudspeaker mode. I dont ever use my ipod in loud speaker mode and had not used it for a couple of days when i turned it on and experienced this problem. Any suggestions?

First, if you have a speaker then you have a 5th Generation Nano, not a 4th generation.
Get a flashlight and inspect the headphone jack and make sure there is not an obstruction, lint, dirt, etc., blocking the connection. Clean it out if necessary.
If there is no obstruction, try a different set of headphones. If the problem persists you have a damaged headphone jack and will need to get it serviced.

  • Macbook Pro 17" (Mid-2009) Randomly Getting Stuck in Sleep Mode when Unplugged

Hey guys, this is my first time posting so please excuse me if I do anything wrong. Here's the issue:
I have a Macbook Pro 17" (Mid-2009) that has had an issue with the whole computer shutting down at random, but only when unplugged from the MagSafe power adapter. Upon scouring all the forums and discussions I could, I haven't found anyone with the same exact circumstances as myself, hence this post. Let me explain.
Many say it's a battery issue. That can't be, because this has been happening for months, and after I finally got my laptop repaired a few days ago, it still occurs. I had sent it in for a logic board failure, but consented them to fix any other parts that weren't functioning properly. Upon the return of my machine, I found that they installed a fresh hard drive, new battery, new logic board, and a new speaker on the right side. This must mean that neither the logic board nor the battery are the issue.
What else can this point to? Again, it only occurs when the Mac is unplugged from a power source, and it doesn't totally shut down. It goes half way, essentially stuck in sleep mode. The white indicator light on the front freezes, and the power button has to be held to fully turn the laptop off, then pressed again to reboot. It can last anywhere from a single minute to a few hours before shutting off again, and it's always the exact same circumstance, no matter what kind of computing I'm doing at the time.
Note that while no one else has found the solution to lie within resetting the PRAM or SMC (in the discussions I read), I still need to try that tonight and see if it affects anything.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sean

Macs are having problems with SSD drives. The root cause is the OS X journaling file system. The Apple-written SATA controller driver can saturate the bus at times, inhibiting performance. Some manufactures are even selling special "Mac" versions of their SSD drives that are slowed down on purpose to compensate for this problem. Unfortunately, the problem still exists in Snow Leopard, from what I've read.
Also, I read that Apple has secretly slowed the recent new laptops down (3.0GB/s to 1.5GB/s) to compensate for the problem.

  • My iPod Touch is stuck in headphones mode

My iPod Touch 5th gen. is stuck on headphones mode, and I DONT WANT TO RESET MY IPOD OR ANY APPS OR PHOTOS ON IT! Oh and I don't really back-up my iPod on the
    Please help!
    (software is 7.1.2)
I have tried in the headphones thing, plugging and unplugging headphones, turning off my ipod and turning it back on, and none of those worked!
    HELP ME!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted. A problem with the jack is the likely cause
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Gnome stuck in fallback mode - not recognizing nvidia drivers

Every time I start a gnome session it is stuck in fallback mode. Checking under System Settings > Details > Graphics I see that the Driver is listed as Unknown and Experience is Fallback. Forced Fallback Mode is OFF. I cannot get it to recognize the nvidia driver (I have also tried nouveau but it did not recognize that either). I have tried re-installing the nvidia driver and rebooting, but I can't seem to fix the problem . Here are the logs that I thought might be relevant. If you need to see anything else please let me know . Thanks.

There is one thing I forgot to clarify, have setup up the pc as a server so I do not have direct access to the server. Everything is forwarded over ssh (using nx to connect to the server and start a gnome session). Starting KiTTY (a modification of PuTTY) with x11 forwarding I do not see any windows when I run "xinit -- /usr/bin/X -nolisten tcp". I get the following:

I remember when I would start the pc that startx I could never get to run, I would always start the gui using gdm, which was the only thing I could get to work. I do not have a .xinitrc. I believe the nx connects and issues gnome-session to start the session but I am not sure.

  • Getting stuck in Headphone mode not necessarily a hardware issue, is it?

I've read on the net that cleaning the headphone jack can correct this issue. I've also read that inserting the headphones and removing them many times (I think I've seen 7 or 8 times) can also correct the issue. None of these issues worked for me.
What I did notice is that the presence of my headphones was indeed being detected. With the headphones plugged-in, I set the volume to a low volume, for example. With the headphones removed, I set the volume near maximum. Mind you, the phone is in Headphone mode, and won't normally play out of the speaker. But when you insert the headphones, in this example, the volume jumps to the low setting, and when the headphones are removed, the volume jumps to the near maximum setting.
So insertion and removal of the headphones is indeed detected. So this isn't a hardware issue, then, is it? There's got to be something else going on.

Well, I backed up, erased, and restored to get proper functionality. No longer stuck in headphone mode. I tried compressed air, and cleaning the jack. Those attempts didn't fix me. I believe it's just a bug that will eventually get fixed, or a setting that will reset the logic associated with the headphone.

  • Ipod touch 5g stuck on headphone mode help

my  little brother ipod is stuck on headphones mode n the music wont play at all but in ringtones it shows the ringtone on speaker but other then that the music wont play outloud or siri wont talk nothingg help me please what do i do to fix this?????

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • IPhone4 - Stuck in Headphone mode

Ok, My iPhone4 is completely stuck in headphone mode.
It was in my pocket today and it did get slightly damp (freaking rain).
any-case, I really do not know what to do, I've tried using compressed air to blow into the jack etc, No luck.
    Restoring. No luck.
    Rebooting. No luck..
    What should I do?

    Randomphil,
Same issue here.  It looked like most of the fixes for this problem you see out there were posted by owners of the iphone 3 & earlier, and none of them worked on my 4 -- not to mention, I hadn't put headphones in since the last time I used the onboard speaker.  I think the issue was actually fixed with the 4 as I never have had this problem until now, despite using various non-iPhone headphones for months now.
My phone was in my glove box for a few hours during a foggy day, and when I got back to the car, a small amount of condensation appeared on it when I was handling it - probably due to the quick temperature increase from nearly freezing to being in my hands.  Now that I've had time to think clearly instead of rushing to my phone, I realize that, yes, this commonly happens with electronics, even if you're not getting them wet, the condensation in the air can quickly soak into your phone - especially during a rapid temperature change - and cause potential issues, although they are usually minor.  Need to allow time for the moisture to dry before using the phone.
I saw your comment yesterday and decided to give it a try.  About 3 hours in a tightly sealed bag of rice seems to have wicked out all the moisture, and it works fine now.
    Thanks!

  • Why is my iPod stuck in headphones mode? How can I change it?

I was taking a shower and I had my iPod next to the shower playing music.  When I came out as soon as I turned of the music it was stuck in headphones mode. What happened?

  • Intermittent SOS error, radio off or stuck in gsm mode

Hi guys, been lurking the forums since I got my curve but never really posted. I have done tons of searches on crackberry, google, and support forums but no real answer yet.
I have an 8310 from AT&T but it is unlocked and being used with Rogers complete with data and BB services. Current firmware is 4.5.0.163 (257) from vodafone (updated last week or so)
Previously the phone would be stuck in SOS mode for unknown periods of time. To resolve the problem I would go to "manage connections" and turn on/off the connection and hope it will work again. Other times I would hit the phone leg or the desk and do a battery pull (quick pull lite), sometimes it will work again. I took apart the phone and the antenna contacts do not look as good as they could. Signs of wear on the antenna as well as the contacts on the board. Some of the copper has worn off the contacts.
I swapped chassis with another 8310 I had laying around with a broken usb port. The problem went away and I assumed it was fixed. Just last night the phone went into GSM mode again. I did the same steps I had mentioned before and it started to work again.
I have also tried registering the "host tables" and manually setting the mobile network.I have another chassis and antenna on order as we speak.
I also plan to apply a thin layer of solder to the contacts on the main board (the part that touches the antenna).I was wondering if anyone has any other troubleshooting tips for advice for me.
I love this curve and I really don't want to change to another modelAny tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums
Here is some info on the SOS error: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB03448
If you have faulty SIM card, your provider should replace it for you at no cost (usually). Other hardware problems cannot be fixed unless you are an electrical wizz and know what you are doing...getting a replacement would be your best bet if this is the case.
Hope the info helps. Keep us posted!
