Stuck in upgrade limbo
I was running Aperture 2 on a Macbook Pro. When I upgraded to Aperture 3, I had only 2 or 3 GB free; Aperture now wishes to upgrade the library, for which it requires more disk space than I have spare (though, annoyingly, it doesn't tell me how much more). I could in theory free up some disk space by deleting unwanted photos, as they take up by far the majority of the disk, but, of course, I now cannot do this as I can't start Aperture to do so!
I suspect I'm going to have to re-install Aperture 2 to delete some photos before upgrading a second time, but if anyone has a better suggestion, I'd be grateful.
I use an external hard drive to store my aperture library of photos,
Hard disks are quite cheap to purchase these days.
This would prevent you having to reinstall Aperture 2 and delete your images.

HT201210 Stuck in Activation Limbo, How do I get out of it?
I have an iPhone 4s. I've had iOS7 ever since the beta came out. I received it with my iOS Developer Certificate.
Last night my phone just went into the Activation Mode, like when you turn your iPhone on for the first time. It is stuck in Activation Limbo. It will not move past the screen after you select a Wi-Fi connection. This message appears...
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes.
If this problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support."
Well I've connected my iPhone to iTunes and it says my software is out of date and needs to be updated. When I check for updates, it says my sortware is up-to-date and won't do anything. It won't even let me back up my phone.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way I can get my Phone back so I can use it? Do I just have to wait until it just randomly with Activate?Hi
I am having this exact same problem. Apparently you need to put the phone in DFU mode, then restore the phone (i would advise backing up your phone before hand) However my phone will not allow me to do this so i am stuck as well. -
My mail is stuck in white limbo.
My mail is stuck in white limbo. I can't get it out by restarting or force quitting the app, it always comes back in the same white limbo stuck mode. It's stuck in the middle of something that I can't cancel, how can I fix this? Thanks!
Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.

Here's to hoping a Blackberry employee reads this and can help me out.
I'm stuck in warranty limbo with my unlocked Z10. Bought new off Amazon.ca beginning of April-2014. While on Vacation the phone blue screened and died. It's outside of the online retailers 90 day exchange policy, in which case all I have left is the manufacturers limited warranty. Tried to contact Blackberry and they directed me to my carrier Telus, even though I did not purchase the phone through them. Telus was very helpful, we worked through troublshooting together, but unfortunately got to the same conclusion that the phone needs to go back for a hardware issue. They kindly offerred to RMA the phone for me through their system, however since I did not purchase the phone through them and it is an unlocked world phone it does not recognize the IMEI so they couldn't complete the process for me. There is absolutely no luck getting any help through any of the multiple Blackberry phone numbers I've called. Any help sorting this out would be much appreciated. I will drive the phone to the office in Waterloo if need be.You're probably going to have to drive the phone to Waterloo.
Here's the situation: You bought the phone from Amazon which has a 90-day exchange warranty. That's mistake #1. Then you registered the phone for service on Telus' network but the phone wasn't purchased from them so they won't honor any warranty claims (which is their right because they didn't make any money from your purchase of the phone from them). You're in a catch-22 situation. There's really nothing I can advise you to do except buy your next phone from the carrier with which you have monthly service.
Not much help but that's how I see it. Perhaps others can enlighten me with a different point of view. Cheers.

I have Elements 10. It doesn't handle RAW. It also doesn't allow more than one Fine JPG to be downloaded at a time. Can this be fixed with a download, or am I stuck to upgrade to Elements 13?

Yes, it does.
FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?
It can handle the raw files covered by the ACR 6.7 version.
For newer cameras, you can use the free Adobe DNGconverter to batch convert a folder into the DNG raw format that PSE10 can read and edit.
(see the link in the upper document)
Fine JPG to be downloaded at a time.
All versions of Elements can open many jpegs at the same time, and the organizer lets you import as many as you want? -
Ical is stuck on upgrading !
My ical has been stuck on "Upgrading ical Calendars" for two days now - i have force quit but still same - can anyone help please?
jrObert,
The advice that was given for the OP was offered almost three years ago, and the OP was using OS X 10.6. You are most likely using a newer version of OS X. Try this updated list of instructions.
1. Disconnect your computer from your internet connection.
2. From the Menu, select Force Quit...>Calendar.
3. Paste this text ~/Library into the Finder>Go>Go to Folder...window and select "Go." This will open the Users Library Folder.
4. Then open the Calendars Folder in that Library Folder, and move any any files with "Cache" listed in the name field to your Desktop.
5. Next open the Preferences Folder in the same Library Folder, and move the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Desktop.
6. Log out/in or restart, and open Calendar. -

Ipad Mini stuck in upgrade mode
During softwar upgrade my son pulled minipad from USB port. Pad is stuck in upgrade mode and unable to power down. The apple icon with 1/8 of the status bar is on main screen. Any suggestions on how to get out of "stuck mode"
You can try rebooting the iPad, but if that wont work, you will probably have to restore using recovery mode.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

ICal, Mail and Finder times all stuck since upgrade! System clock O.K.
Very strange problem:
All of my calendar event times (in iCal), email message receipt times (in Mail), and file modification/creation times (in Finder) are listed as some time between 7:00-7:59 AM or PM, regardless of time of day! My system clock (as it appears in the menu bar) is fine!
More details:
iCal: the events still look like they're at the right times, i.e. the blocks are in the right places, with the correct spacing, etc etc, they are just labeled with times between 7:00-7:59 AM/PM. Similarly, alarms go off at the correct time. Also, in the day or week listing, the column on the left which is supposed to show times instead just says "Sat" for all times, except "Noon" (at noon).
This is continuous since upgrading to snow leopard a couple weeks ago. Seemingly no other problems besides this.
I don't know much about the OS, but I don't understand how the system clock (in the menu bar) could be fine, but every other sign of time-keeping is completely off. I just its just something about the labeling of times, instead of the actual record of them?!
I have screen shots of the problems if that might help clarify (apparently I can't attach them however).
Thanks for your help!Hi,
Any solutions to your problems?
Just found my Mom has the same 'time stuck' problem (iMac OS X 10.6.7) Finder 'Date Modified' is stuck at 2/14/2011. Also, the Time/Date displays correctly on the Menu bar but when click on it, the drop down menu shows a gray out 2/14/2011, etc.
Much appreciated of any help. Thx.

According to upgrade document it should be about 1% .
Job Name is : RDDCP4TB
please help how can i proceed further ..
regards
sachinHi sachin,
Need to check couple of things here.
1.check for the back ground work process.
2.check the free space in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global .if there is no free space to write the job log then backgorund job will not run.
3.Also check for the free space in archive log directory
paste the log for this particular phase so that we can analyze further.
Thanks and Regards,

Last night I upgraded my iPhone 4S to ios 7, and this morning when I went to use it I was stuck in Recovery Mode - How do I get my iPhone 4S out of it w/o restoring? I have photos, contacts, etc Iwant to get off the phone. I tried Tiny Umbrella and RecBoot but no dice. I was not able to get any help from the Apple tech on the phone. They only suggestions offered were to check to see if iPhoto or the Finder would show my device so I could copy over my photos.
Thanks, ChadSee: Resolve iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support
That error usually means that your computer antivirus is blocking the update.
It can also mean that your phone was jailbroken, or your computer was used to jailbreak some iOS device in the past. -
Stuck in a limbo: can't install Safari or Lion/Mountain Lion, can't access App Store
If someone would take up this challenge and attempt to solve it with me, I would appreciate it! I have troubleshooted for 2 days now to no avail.
This is what happened:
1) I accidentally installed Safari 6.0, even if I have Lion 10.7. which doesn't run the new version
2) This disabled my use of Safari and my access to App Store
3) With a combination of AppDelete + Pacifist I tried deleting all Safari files, and re-installing old Safari 5.4 from scratch.
I rebooted, repaired permissions and did a disk check.
4) Rebooted again, tried to open the newly installed Safari, but it gives an error:
"Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
5) At this point I thought to revert back to a previous point in Time Machine. Unfortunately all the points in Time Machine somehow showed Safari 6.0 (even a month-old points), so reverting back to an old point didn't help.
6) I try logging into AppStore to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I can't do that, since it needs Safari to run and I don't have a Safari anymore!
7) Now I tried re-installing Lion from restart + cmd+R, and it asked for Apple ID to start the installation.
--> At this point I am getting desperate, as this computer was purchased second-hand, so I don't have the Apple ID used to install Lion!
8) I try searching for Apple's official support, but obviously my warranty has expired, besides it's based in another country so they can only call cellphones from that country!
So I cannot enter App Store; reinstall Safari; reinstall Lion; or upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have no access to Apple official support. I currently work in a developing country with limited access to any MAC support.
I don't know what to try anymore!
- How can I enter App Store without Safari?
- How can I reinstall Lion without the original Apple ID?
- How can I upgrade to Mountain Lion without App Store?
I'm STUCK! Please help!!Anyone?
I finally managed to download the newest combo update and installed it successfully!
However Safari still doesn't open. It keeps saying the following:
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I also finally got access to App Store: but the download of Mountain Lion doesn't complete, because it seems to need Safari.
So I'm still stuck with the two issues:
i) Safari doesn't work, and I can't get it to work unless I can reinstall/upgrade the OS.
ii) I can't upgrade the OS without Safari!
--- unless someone knows a way to install Lion/Mountain Lion _without_ Safari??
Thanks for all your help!
