Stuck on finder with pinwheel and no icons! help!

Upgraded to 10.5 on eMac G4 and will load up to finder but gets stuck before any icons pop up. Just a spinning pinwheel. Tried booting from install disk and repairing but everything seems fine from there. Any suggestions?!?

Note I justed used my G5 as a target hard drive for my MacBook and removed the file since I could not get the terminal application to run.

There is no Siri "icon". You access Siri using the Home button. But you may need to turn it on: Settings App > General > Siri. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4992
Same for the FaceTime function (but if it is ON, there will be an icon): Settings App > FaceTime > [turn it on and set you Apple ID. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319

Every since I got my iphone4 out of recovery mode (stuck on screen with usb and itunes), now everytime i plug up my iphone to computer it asks me to restore (i did several times) but that all its doing, its not even giving me the option to sync my music

Windows 7 with CS4 and PSD Icons

Hi,
I have Windows 7 64bit, Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop 7 (for back-up).
I know that Photoshop 7 allowed thumbnail previews on PSD's but that was taken out so CS4 is just a custom icon, but Windows 7 doesn't seem to really get what to do with either of them, and you can't force a certian icon on a certian file type like you could in XP because Microsoft basically got rid of the ability to do so now.
The attatched image shows two PSD's in the same folder, one with a defaul windows "unknown" file icon, but with photoshops logo on it to represent what it will open it with anyway, and the other has a preivew although it has never been opened in PS7 (both fully created in CS4, nothing else). For the sake of organisation, is there a way to either get them all to be previews of thumbnails or all one generic icon (preferably not the one it has made it from windows).

In Windows Explorer (Windows 7) if you right click on a file icon a menu pops up offering your the choice under Open with->Choose Default Program. If you select Photoshop it will change the icon to the Photoshop and open the file.
I notice that the file extension is not showing in your example I suggest you turn this feature on just to make sure both files are .psd.
As to the thumbnails, I found Windows Explorer so inadequate, I bought a program call Directory Opus, I think you can get a free 30 day trial if you're interested at http://www.gpsoft.com.au/ it has many features left out of Windows Explorer including a really good thumbnail feature.

BasicArrowButton with text and/or icon

Hi, I have to display a button that has the arrow from BasicArrowButton but also display text and/or icon. I made a JPanel that has a JButton and a BasicArrowButton and everything looks fine except that the border I see covers only the JButton... I know I can just call setBorder to the panel but it has to be the same border from a regular JButton and be look and feel compatible. I tried this line:
panel.setBorder(button.getBorder());
But I get a ClassCastException. The only thing I can think of is to override the paint method from the JButton, but I don't really know how to do this...

From your previous thread you are aware that JMenu and JMenuItem both extend AbstractButton. So, you should be able to play with the borders and margins:

setMargin( new Insets(0, 0, 0, 0) );

The connect to iTunes screen is telling you to connect to iTunes on your computer so you can restore your device. Start the latest version of iTunes on your computer and connect your device to the computer. You should then be promoted through the restoration process.

Where do I find the Stop and Refresh icons on the toolbar in Firefox 5?

I cannot find the Stop or Refresh icons on Firefox% toolbar, and following the instructions given for Firefox4 does not seem to work as I cannot find those icons in the Customise drop down.

Standard doesn't have this feature. You need to be running Enterprise or Developer (see http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/editions/).
You can revert to developer temporarily by removing your licence key, do the archive, put the key back in again ;-)

Connecting Problems with iPhone and iTunes. Help please?

When I connect my iPhone 4 to my laptop (Toshiba), I have a huge issue with connecting and syncing my phone on iTunes. During the time it is plugged and attached to my laptop, I can charge it and sync photos that are on my device to the compter, but I can not get it to sync with iTunes. Also, I do not know what my iTunes is fuctioning at (6.1- 7.1- 8.etc), but I did updated it about a month ago. Does anyone have any information and /or/ helpful advice on this topic?

Export data to excel with EPPlus and Web Api - HELP!

I am trying to do a simple excel file export with EPPlus and Web Api. In the html client I have a button that calls the web api and opens a new window. No error is thrown, but the result is always "file could not be downloaded". I get the
save file dialog but the file name is Order/ instead of the expected Orders.xls or Orders.xlsx. Can anyone help? I'm surprised this is so difficult.

Making some progress. I got the spreadsheet into a byte[] and used code from Paul Van
Bladel's blog to make the HttpResponseMessage. If I comment out the LightSwitch data access code, this works to export a spreadsheet from a static list to the browser from Web Api.

The problem is that the LightSwitch query (commented out in the code above) is trying to load navigation properties for the orders. Error: "It is not valid to access this object on the current thread." How do I solve this?

I had this same problem. I don't use Google Drive, but I used to use Dolly Drive. Removing the DollySpaceTools folder did the trick.
Startupdiskname/Library/Application Support/DollySpaceTools
(This was driving me nuts!)
BTW, Dolly Drive has a note on their support page that says they have an update that is Mavericks compatible. I did not have that update installed when I installed Mavericks.

Finder jumping up and down, icons flashing and error message

Hi guys,
I upgraded from Lion to Yosemite a couple of days ago. Since then I'm finding that the problem I am having is called a Finder Crash Loop ! (can you tell that I'm not very technically minded !?) I've Googled this problem and all I can find are suggestions to Terminals and lots of strange coding that I don't understand. I did use Dolly Drive a while ago and I'm finding some suggestions that this could be causing the problem. Would anybody be able to give me an 'Idiots Guide' as to how to solve the problem. As it stands I'm unable to open Finder while the icon is jumping around !

Have you uninstalled Dolly Drive using the developer's uninstall instructions?
Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I OK's the download and now the phone does not appear to be working. I've tried holding down home key and power switch for 10 seconds.

Problem with mouse and speaker icon

When I move the curser around a page, a semi transparent speaker icon often shows up with a faint sound then slowly fades out. It sometimes momentarily freezes the screen until the sound icon is gone, as if the system had suddenly run short of memory. What can this be due to ?

The cable seems to be fine. Actually I tried the mouse in the other port and in another computer and I have no problem at all.
I have to plug it in the left side because I am lefty.
