Stuck on headphone ringer

My iphone is stuck on headphone ringer, help!!

I have an iPhone 4 with the iOS 5.1.1 and I have the same issue. My headphone jack has always been protected with the lifeproof case, I was able to use the headphone jack this mornin in my car (7am), I had no issues all day, and now it's stuck in headphone mode/ringer (11:30p). I had a phone call at 11:00p and did not use headphones nor speaker and I noticed this problem after that call. My ringer has been on since 1pm.
OMG NOW IT JUST STARTED TO WORK!!! I now have the typing key sounds but it is lagging/having consistency issues.

try toggling the headphone jack into your phone a couple of times and then use the side volume control and see if the ringer works.

Carefully clean out the headphone socket ,there must be stuff in it causing the problem. Inserting and removing the headphone wiil also help.

I tried using a blowdrier in the jack, didn't work. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY OTHER WAY I NEED HELP PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE ANY OTHER WAYS TO FIX IT?!?!??!? That would be very helpful

I had the same problem. I squirted a drop of WD40 in the headphone hole and then used a plastic dental toothpick and twisted it around in the hole. It amazingly worked.

IPhone audio stuck on "headphones"

My audio output is stuck on headphones - whenever I try to change volume up and down the display says "ringer (headphones)"
Speaker works fine, but when I pull out my headphones I don't get any sound from the listener above the screen.
I saw where there were suggestions to re-insert & remove headphones multiple times - tried that with no luck.
Is there no way to control audio output from within the iPhone software?

mine got wet and started to act that way but after many hours in rice it went away
many others report that the headset detector can get stuck and inserting and removing a headset will fix it

Phone gets "stuck" on headphones

Since I upgraded to 2.1 (or whatever it is) my iPhone keeps getting stuck on headphones. I cannot use the phone unless I plug in the headphones. I have tried everything on the website including plugging and unplugging, turning off blue tooth and restarting, cleaning out the jack. This has tyo be a software problem. If I go to sounds and select a ring tone the headphones problem goes away and the ring tone plays through the speaker. However within a minute or two, the same problem comes back.

My sound also keeps fading away into a distorted mess. There is definitely a software sound problem. Sometimes I can do multiple resets and the sound will come back - for awhile. Then it fades away and distorts again.

I had exactly the same experience as Spartan95. My iPhone got stuck in headphones mode just before a business trip, and stayed that way for 2 weeks before I could get to the Genius Bar. I tried resetting, compressed air, restoring... and nothing worked. The Genius attempted a restore in the store, and when that didn't solve the issue, handed me a new phone. Too bad there isn't a manual software "switch" available in the phone's options panel. Oh, well....

iphone thinks headphones are in the jack (even though they aren't). I just had this problem today and was able to fix it by putting my ear buds in several times and pulling them back out. Then I used a can of compressed air to blow out the headphone jack. Took a couple times, but it's back to allowing me to hear my callers.

Hello to any others out there with my issue and have found a solution!
My ipod touch 5th gen is brand new! Just purchased this product end of July and I love it to death. Today however I ran into an issue that I simply cannot solve on my own. I was oovoo when my ipod randomly cut off and now it is stuck in headphone mode! I haven't even used my headphones all day so I really do not understand. I am not one of those people who drops their electronics or spills liquids on it (no offense) so there should be no reason for this issue. I have tried EVERYTHING sensical to fix this but now I'm lost. please if anyone with the same issue has fixed theirs, please let me know the secret. I mean I didn't spend 350$ for this to happen within 30 days.

Getting stuck in Headphone mode not necessarily a hardware issue, is it?

I've read on the net that cleaning the headphone jack can correct this issue. I've also read that inserting the headphones and removing them many times (I think I've seen 7 or 8 times) can also correct the issue. None of these issues worked for me.
What I did notice is that the presence of my headphones was indeed being detected. With the headphones plugged-in, I set the volume to a low volume, for example. With the headphones removed, I set the volume near maximum. Mind you, the phone is in Headphone mode, and won't normally play out of the speaker. But when you insert the headphones, in this example, the volume jumps to the low setting, and when the headphones are removed, the volume jumps to the near maximum setting.
So insertion and removal of the headphones is indeed detected. So this isn't a hardware issue, then, is it? There's got to be something else going on.

Well, I backed up, erased, and restored to get proper functionality. No longer stuck in headphone mode. I tried compressed air, and cleaning the jack. Those attempts didn't fix me. I believe it's just a bug that will eventually get fixed, or a setting that will reset the logic associated with the headphone.

If restoring from backup did not solve the problem you have a problem with the headphone jack. If under warranty Apple will replace it under warranty. There are third-partys places that can replace it too. Yu can, if you are capible, replace it yourself. See:

My iphone just randomly got stuck on headphone mode. I tried plugging in headphones and wiggling it, sicking a toothpick inside to see if there was anything stuck, and sucking on the jack and blowing on the jack. Nothing has worked so far. Help!

Using just the headphones stick them in the port about 5 times all the way in and all the way out. Worst comes to worst RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).
