Stuck on 'Initializing the kernel' after suspend to disk

I have fbsplash installed and everything works find, including hibernate. The splash screens for hibernate are fine and the machine hibernates just fine. When I start up again the hibernate image seems to load but the text flickers back and forth to 'Initializing the kernel' and then stops there. Hibernation worked before I tried fbsplash. I've added to 'uresume' to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf. Do I need to remove 'resume'?

I hope you have a backup for the device because you will need to restore the device. To put your device into recovery mode plug the device into your computer with iTunes then press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button. The unit will power off and turn back on, right before the Apple logo appears release the sleep/wake button and the iPad should show the iTunes logo. In iTunes open your device and press the restore button. When the iPad finishes reinstalling iOS, select your latest backup either from iTunes or on the device through iCloud backup and your device should be good to go.

A few months ago, my Satellite A210/A215 suddenly wouldn't start Windows, and after a few tries of restarting, said that there was no operating system. I'm currently in the process of trying to perform a full system recovery; however, the recovery seems to have stopped on "Initializing the Partition." Now, as the recovery process had been moving quite slow before anyway, I allowed the computer to sit over night. This morning, the computer is still on "Initializing the Partition". Any suggestions would be great!

Are you using the recovery partition or recovery discs?
For now, I'd suggest giving up on that trial and trying again. You might as well give it a few tries even if the second one doesn't take! If you try a few times and it still won't go, it sounds like the hard drive itself might be bad.

No sound on flash videos on the internet after suspend and hibernate

I have this:

Everytime I resume from suspend or hibernate with firefox open alongside with fully loaded flash videos, playing the videos doesn't produce any sound anymore. I need to restart firefox in order to make it work again..:(

I'm also having this problem. Xfmedia plays audio just fine before and after suspend/resume, but pandora.com and hulu.com in firefox do not. Also noticed that CPU usage skyrockets when trying to restart audio/video after resume in pandora/hulu. In hulu, video restarts, but audio does not.
Interestingly, CPU usage also spikes if I restart audio in Xfmedia after resume, but the CPU hog is firefox not Xfmedia and Xfmedia audio plays just fine. Have to close the hulu or pandora tab to get the CPU usage back to normal. Wondering if it's just a bug in flash for linux.

Computer reboot instead of resume after suspend to disk

Hi,
I install minimal KDE on my laptop. Everything work fine but suspend.
- When I suspend to disk, initially it seem to work well. when I press power button, system act a new boot, not resume the session before.
- When I suspend to ram, everything work well: it really suspend, lock screen and reactive when press Enter, application work normally but I cannot re-connect to network. I use wicd as network manager, it always show popup: "Unable get IP from ..."

I've just changed over Arch Linux and this is the first time i'm using the distro, migrating from slackware. Anytime I do a powersave -U through the CLI, my notebook shuts down and swsusp writes to my swap but on resuming the notebook boots back like it would normally with an invalid swap signature. Not sure why it doesn't read the swap signature on coming back up. Here's the conents of my menu.lst file from grub:

Figured it out. The problem was with hooks.
So I edited, the /etc/mkinitcpio.conf file, added resume to the HOOKS="" section and then ran mkinitcpio -g /boot/vmlinuz26-rev.img
That created the initrd image and i replaced the existing image in grub with the newly created one.

[SOLVED] Xfce4 Lock after suspend

Hello everyone,
I know that there was it already asked, but in my question is something different. Is there any option to lock screen with LightDM in Xfce4 when is system going to suspend ? I already edited /usr/bin/xflock4 and it locks screen when is executed from terminal or simply locked from xfce panel, but it doesn't lock screen when i suspend computer. In power manager and in session settings is option already ticked to lock the screen after suspend.
PS: I know that "dm-tool lock" doesn't really lock the screen only redirect you to tty2.
EDIT: Now it works so here is solution:
1. Install light-locker
pacman -S light-locker
2. Create systemd service
nano /etc/systemd/system/lock.service
[Unit]
Description=Lock X session
Before=suspend.target
[Service]
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/usr/bin/xflock4
[Install]
WantedBy=suspend.target
3. Enable systemd service
systemctl enable lock
4. Add light-locker to xflock4 script
nano /usr/bin/xflock4

Next, I went into alsamixer, and noticed a couple items not there before, turned down low:
"Speaker", and two "HeadPhone" mixers, both turned down almost off. I turned up the volume on the speaker, and was able to get sound from the speakers. The same worked for the headphone entries (I have two headphone jacks).
After I did this, it works better than before because I used to only have one working headphone jack.
Also, I confirmed sound is still working after suspend/resume for me.
Hopefully this will help one of you.

Sound is absolutely normal before I suspend/resume my system, volume is normal, not too large,not too little. But there's no sound at all after resume it . I guess it's probably to have something to do with our audio card - HDA intel, my computer is also a dell laptop( dell 1420 , 2007/2008, really old ).
My advice is : don't upgrade to kernel 3.9.2 ,it's an odd version( odd version is not stable).

After effects is stuck on initializing media core

Well the title says it all. When ever i try to start up After Effects it just gets stuck on initializing media core. I looked on one of you're posts where it said enable a few of adobe products to be allowed on the firewall and i did but it still wont open it. Please respond asap.

First, you should apologize to AE.
Then you should UNINSTALL Quicktime X and install the latest version of QT7.

Unable to boot the sytem after applying kernel patch 118844-27

We have an hp ProLiant DL380 Storage server connected to HP StorageWorks Moduler Smart Array 30 via SCSI. Solaris 03/05 was installed previously on this system with kernel 118844-20. When I queried and installed all required patches with 'smpatch add -i .. ' command, all patches applied and the system is rebooted. After reboot, the system kept restarting. I followed the instructions on Sun Alert document 102087, and installed grub using 01/06 1st CDROM. It installed successfully, but problem persisted. The systems started booting, but before printing 'Configuring devices' the system rebooted again. Providing -v option to the kernel, it lastly printed a PCI device id (/pci@....) and after 2-3 seconds rebooted again.
Finally I had to reinstall the solaris (this time 01/06). The disk was accessible after booting with CD ROM, and I was able to get cylinder numbers of disk, and I installed the new system to the root partition of the other live upgrade environment. The boot disk was partitioned under linux, it was three partitions, Solaris2 (50GB),Solaris(4GB),Linux(18GB). Installation medium told that the fdisk partition was invalid, and i repartitioned the whole disk again.
System up and running Solaris 10 01/06 now, but the strange thing is that, previously hard disk (both boot disk and disks on array) locations were identified as '/dev/rdsk/c0tx' but now, the system sees that hard disks at '/dev/c1tx' and CDROM at '/dev/c0t0'.
Now I want to ask tow questions:
* Could this disk number change made the system unbootable previously?
* May I safely apply patch 118844-28 to the system

If you factory reset, it wont make the update go away, but you should back up and reset before you install the update.
