Stuck on Installation under WinXP SP1

I get this error and cant continue installation:
FSL-02010 Unable to set time for file C:WINDOWSSystem32driversetcservices.1
Someone know what is it?
Is there any work arrownd?
Thanks,
Martín.

Hi Martin,
setting a time stamp is basically nothing different (at least under Windows) than changing the content of the file and saving it (which does reset the modification timestamp). So i suggest to try to open the file you mentioned with the corresponding user, change it and try to save.
Hope that helps.

Stefan

  • 1.4.2_03 SDK install problem (WinXP SP1)

I just installed j2sdk 1.4.2_03 (freshly downloaded), and installed on my WinXP SP1 laptop.
    * The install croaked at the point at which it tried to install the standalone JRE (threw up an error dialog, and if you hit OK on that, it exits the install without installing the JRE).
    * At that point, if I do "c:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\java -version" (to check the version of the JRE contained in the SDK), it says "build 1.4.2-b28" (!!!). (I don't have any other JREs installed anywhere, and verified that it was indeed picking up the JRE from c:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\jre.)
Did the 1.4.2_03 SDK go out with a bad JRE bundled? The 1.4.2_02 SDK correctly identifies itself (java -version) as "build 1.4.2_02-b03", and I've uninstalled everything and rolled back to that version of both the JRE and SDK, and everything works fine now (installs flawlessly).

I am seeing the same problem with the j2sdk1.4.2_03 SDK and JRE installers. The error showing up on XP is "Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." The install then exits with the package in a partial state and must be uninstalled. I also see the same problem when installing the older j2sdk1.4.2_03 SDK. Sounds like there is return state that is not being handled correctly in the package installer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
    Thanks

  • Boot Camp WinXP SP1

I have a genuine disc of WinXP, and I am trying to use boot camp to install it, yet in the setup it asks for a previous version of windows such as windows 2000 or earlier. So I think I have a copy of WinXP SP1 so now, I am trying to figure out how to slipstream it with SP2 using Mac programs, since boot camp doesn't support SP1. I have been working on this project for about a week now and honestly I can't figure out how. All the guides online use Windows programs. If someone could please help me I would be so grateful.
Also I am wondering if I, when I make this slipstream disc on SP2, need to purchase a new serial number, which would be a let down since I already have a windows product in my hands. But... a major reason why I purchased a mac is because I can get the best of 2 worlds, yet I'm stuck on one side of the fence.
So any knowledge in this area would be appreciated. Thanks

This is really the wrong place for the question. You might find information if you search in the Boot Camp Forum, but more than likely you need to look for Windows forums to find out how to slipstream. The Apple Discussions don't provide any support for Windows other than what you may find in the Boot Camp Forum. Do a Google search where you're likely to turn up lots of information.

Chris is correct. Installing and running the software does not require root privileges unless you are using ports <1024 or needing to set up the rc scripts for automatically starting/stopping the software a boot/shutdown time.

  • Stuck in Installation Loop on WinXP and IE8

    Hi all,
First post... had a look around, googled etc, could not find related issue or solution:
I have a user who is using WinXP (UK version) though who uses their laptop in Spain and who each time they open IE8 and go to a flash web-site, it tries to download updates for Flash even though it has 11.4.4.02.287 installed.
Flash then needs IE to close so it can install, though when you open IE again, it repeats the same process of downloading 9354k of data and then loops again.
Any ideas, please?  Have rebotoed, uninstalled, re-installed, deleted the data from C:\Windows\System32,  %appdata%\adobe,  %appdata%\macromedia, etc.
Any reg keys that need tinkering?
    Thanks, Anton

I think what is happening, is that the site your user is visiting is using a script that first checks to see if Flash is installed, and if not, invokes our Express Install mechanism.
The problem is that Flash *is* installed, but the browser's security settings are such that Flash is not allowed to run.  The JavaScript on the page looks to see if Flash is there, Flash doesn't respond, and it launches the Express Installer.
I'd recommend resetting Internet Explorer to default settings as the fastest way to get this resolved:

Please let us know how this works out for you.

  • Directory Server INstallation on WinXP

    Hi all,
I have tried to install DS5.2 on my win XP PRO machine and have different problems. From my search in this forum i have found conflicting information posted around...
I have found posts that say that DS5.2 cannot be installed or is not supported on Win Xp. Others say the opposite and claim to have it working just fine. i have read that JDK 1.5 has to be installed (which i have) and other details to keep this short.
I have two problems which i would appreciate if any of you could help me with.
    1. I initially installed DS5.2 just for testing purposes and then had to uninstall manually. I have removed the installation folder as well as registry entries ( To the best of my knowledge). Since then i have tried to re-install DS5.2 but the installation hangs a few steps in to the installation with a message saying " Loading Components".
Again i did a search over the forum and i found that maybe some o the files might have stayed behind (after uninstall) or that other files have to be renamed???? Can someone that has dealt with this provide some guidance?
    2. In order not to mess it up again could someone help me with the right procesure for installation of DS5.2 ( provided that the problem is solved and i dont have to re-install windows all together...)?
I appreciate your time and assistance in advance.
    Thanks Evan

DS5.2 can be installed and working on WinXP latest SP, as well as Win2000 latest SP.
You are not alone, search this forum for keyword "windows", there are many other issues reported for DS5.2 Windows version installation or uninstallation.
I suspect somehow DS5.2 installation/uninstallation changes/updates certian Windows system DLL files in system32 directory, and these changes causes subsequent install/uninstall issues. A related discussion is at Reply 8 of 15 of:
    http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=13&threadID=58600
I think we may achieve the effect of uninstallation, as a last resort, by:
    1) Remove DS5.2 sw componet registry keys and windows service keys
    2) Remove all temp files left by incomplete installation/uninstallation by looking at %TEMP% directory
    3) Remove all files under DS5.2 ROOT directory
I have a feeling that if we observe some of these guidelines, we may (or may not have) have less troubles and frustrations.
    0) Read the Release Notes, Installation Noes and/or Patch Notes, don't rush.
    1) Do not install DS5.2 on a domain controller, or a member of any existing domain or workgroup, to reduce dependencies on network security services, do install it on a stand-alone server.
    2) Apply SP4 to WIndows 2000 prior to DS5.2 installation, or latest SP to Windows XP.
    3) Make sure the display supports 256 colors.
    4) Make sure Administrator account is used
    5) Make sure %TEMP% directory has enough disk space
    7) The default DS5.2 install root directory may contain spaces, eg: c:\Program Files\..., change it to folder name WITHOUT spaces, eg: c:\Sun\DS52.
    8) Use the undocumented ".\setup.exe -debug" command to see more debugging messages.

  • Problem with OBI Apps v7.9.5 installation on WinXP SP2

We are attempting to install OBI Apps v7.9.5 on a WinXP SP2 machine. However, upon clicking the setup.exe file, we get the following error message -- Unable to load the launcher file index. Invalid file type in the index.
As a pre-requisite for OBI Apps, JDK 1.5.x and OBIEE v10.1.3.3.1 have been installed without any issues. Hence, not sure why we are getting the above error for OBI Apps. We have searched Oracle documentation, blogs and forums, but not found any reason or solution to this problem.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you..
Edited by: OBIGuy on Nov 2, 2009 1:00 PM

Thank you for the input. The contents of the installation directory are as below:
    Oracle_BI_Applications
    |- doc (folder)
    |- createResponseFile.bat
    |- installWithResponseFile.bat
    |- media.inf
    |- setup.exe
    |- setup.jar
    |- version_apps.txt
Before posting this query, I did run the setup.jar file. However, when the installation process reaches 100%, it terminates with the following error - */version_apps.txt does not exist*. Also, it rolls back the complete installation, so I do not get the OBI Apps files/directories such as DAC, dwrep, RPD, Web Catalog zip, etc.
As shown in the directory structure, this file does exist. My guess is - since I am running the JAR file and not the EXE, it is unable to resolve the path of version_apps.txt correctly and hence throws this error. Having gone through related blogs and posts, I understand that OBI Apps can be installed on Win XP SP2.
    Any inputs?

  • Feedback on XP Pro (guest OS) installation under VMware 5.5 on Linux host.

I successfully installed 10g XE on XP Pro (32 bit - with service pack 2 ) guest OS under Linux host (RedHat 4.0 ES - update 2).
The initial attempt was unsuccessful because of the MS Antivirus program (as some suggested on this forum). I then shutdown the listener service from command line, cleaned the registry for oracle entries (oci.dll was used by some application - I found it was Microsoft Transaction Server), then removed the oracleXE directory , set the oracle listener service to manual start (in services window), and then rebooted the machine. When logged back in, verified that the listener was not up, stopped the antivirus program and then reinstalled 10g XE. This time the installation was successful.
Realized the sys and system password is the same and by using the sql command tool as sys, you can create new tablespaces, new users, etc. (I could not find any other way to create a new tablespace or adding a new datafile to the existing users tablespace , from within the html_db based administration tool. I am a DBA, so I used the command line from the "Run SQL command line" icon (link). It displayed the SQL> prompt and then I connected as sysdba.
Next week, I will try installing 10g XE, on a Linux virtual machine (guest) running on XP 64 bit host. I will update this posting then...
    I hope this proves useful.

    Understood.
I will just create a simple document for our end users explaining and including related sql scripts - or better yet - I will configure, install XE on Linux to a specific directory and then do a cold backup - make a bzipped tar file to distribute to the customer (I know this type of distribution/installation is not supported but it is working and tested with Forms 6i c/s runtime with proper patchset). This is why I will support the XE Linux version only - you don't have to deal with the "registry".
For our application XE will serve real well - for a simple scenario creation, they can use XE and Forms 6i C/S runtime on Linux. If they want to use our real time game support which will populate the data in close-to-real time and uses iAS EE forms services, then they need the install standard edition.
I will update with Linux VMware virtual machine installation feedback as soon as I finish installing.
