Stuck on OS X Utilities page help !
I Went to log in and the OS X utilities page came up. It won't let me restore from time machine back up , or reinstall OS X... So I can't do anything. Any suggestions on how to get back into my laptop? Thanks!
Your boot volume is hosed or your HD/SSD has failed.
If DiskUtility will reformat the drive to start anew, reinstall the OS upgrade from there.
If you can not access your HD, replace or take it in

Hi,
I have a 2010 iMac.
I have had not one problem with my mac since getting it as a gift, yet since I updated to the newest update. 10.8.2 or something along this, my Mac began to work really slow, and all of a sudden it should down today.
I tried to turn it back on and it was stuck on the white screen with the apple logo, the spinning wheel and occasionally the loading bar underneath.
I have used many forums including this, to try and find a solution. I finally got on to the OSX Utilities page, however, i can't wipe my hard drive clean, can't uninstall my operating system.
It's basically stuck on this page.
I'm a complete novice with Macs really, its used mostly for University work and research.

Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine. Might also apply to new machines the first 90 days. BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best insurance policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.
Fixing the locked disk w/Mountain Lion installed is something they should be able to rectify. -
i am unable to set up my iphone 5 after reset since am getting a error stating 'unable to reach server' . i tried restoring the same from my computer but i get a error stating server unavailable' . please help me as my phone is stuck at the set up page. so i have already tried recovery mode as well.

I received a message on my iPad re update to iO7 and I said yes, install. Now it's stuck on the agree/disagree page; nothing moves when I press Agree and Send by Email. Can anyone help?
Reset iPad and continue with update.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

I am trying to update my iphone 4s to ios7. It is stuck on the terms & conditions page and will not move on even if I agree or disagree. Any help?
this did not help me. Agree/disagree/turn off/turn on/ try again. Nothing gets it off the initial Icloud terms and privacy policy agree/disagree page. The phone is really of limited usefulness, being stuck on that page.

PLEASE HELP! I am stuck on the OSX Utilities Menu after trying to reset factory settings by going to Disc utilities>Macintosh HD>Erase. Then was prompted to go back to OS X Utilities menu and select reinstall OS X Lion but it says it needs 2gbs data after trying to reinstall. Now I'm stuck on OSX utilities menu and can only use internet through Get Help Online option. I do not have any installation discs so im stuck. PLEASE HELP!!

I am currently in Zambia on missions work and my computer is constantly exposed to heat. I have just been trying to avoid using it during the hottest part of the day. Today though, I started it up and it was stuck on the grey page with the rotating circle for over an hour, then once the circle left, it remained frozen on the gray page. I used command + r at startup to go to the utilities page to analyze the disk. It found that there were problems with the disk, but then it could not fix those problems and told me to backup as much information as I could and reinstall or redo it all. I haven't ever used time machine to back up any of my information, but i have an external drive that I can use right now to backup my files. I can't get into my computer though to backup the files. How can I use this external drive to backup my files while the computer is currently messed up? Please help.
Emergency Backups (Data Recovery)
A) Format an external disk:
(This will erase all data on the external disk.)
Boot in recovery mode (power then Command-R).
Alternative: Network recovery boot (power then Command-Option-R keys)
To format (and erase) the destination recovery disk:
Plug in the drive you are about to erase.
Select the volume that is NOT your system disk.
Click on Partition.
Pull down under Partition Layout to 1 Partition.
Click on Options…
Select GUID Partition Table.
Name: Emergency Backup (or whatever you prefer)
Format: Select Mac OS Extended (journaled)
Click Apply.
Click Partition.
B) Try to boot in Safe Mode (power then Shift key).
(This will be a slow boot. Be patient.)
If it won’t boot in Safe Mode, jump to C.
If it boots in Safe Mode, try to boot in normal mode.
If that fixed your problem then start a Time Machine backup.

If not, boot in Safe Mode again.
Go > Computer.
Double click on the system disk.
Drag the Users folder to the recovery disk.
C) To clone the disk:
Boot in recovery mode.
Select Disk Utility.
Try to repair the system disk twice.
Whether or not the repair succeeds:
Drag and drop the system disk to Source:
Drag an drop Emergency Backup to Destination:
(Take care not to reverse this order.)
Click Restore (the lower Restore button).
Once your system is healthy, maintain two reasonably current backups. (Time machine restores can fail.)
Create either two Time Machine backups (good) or one or more Time Machine backup(s) and one or more bootable-clone backup(s) (better).
Use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to create bootable-clone recovery disks.

i tried to update my software to 10.9 and forgot i had a disc of pictues in the computer. i stopped the istall as it was trying to go onto the disc of pictures. now its stuck on the os x page and i cant get it to my home screen. can anyone help?
I'm not really sure what you mean by "the os x page". It sounds like the installation did not complete.
I would try this:
hold down the power button until the computer shuts down
take out the disk with the pictures!
restart and see if it will boot up
if it boots up normally, I'd probably try to repair your HD: Boot into your recovery partition (hold down ⌘R at restart until you see the Apple symbol), go to Disk Utility, and repair your hard drive. While you're there, repair permissions too. OSX Tips Using the Recovery HD
Then I'd try to reboot and run the installer again. I think it's a good idea to do the installation in safe mode : Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? .
if it won't boot up normally, I'd try booting from the recovery partition and repairing your HD.
if it won't boot into the recovery partition, your options are:
Try to repair your hard drive with internet recovery: OS X: About OS X Recovery
If you have access to another (working) Mac and a USB thumb drive, download Recovery Disk Assistant, which you can use to repair your hard drive or reinstall OSX: OS X: About Recovery Disk Assistant
Try to boot into single user mode and repair your hard drive: Repair Your Hard Disk in Single User Mode | Everything Macintosh -
I have a ipod touch 3G. My iPod Is Stuck On The iTunes Connection Page. I Tried To Restore It But, Everytime I Even Connect It, It Says That I Need To Put My Password In & I'm Not Able To Even Get To The Password Page. Someone HELP Me PLEASE
Back it up and restore it using iTunes on the last computer it was synced with, as explained at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212. This will remove the passcode; at the end of the restore process you will be given the option to restore to the backup you made at the beginning.

I dont have original CD-ML or snow leopard
I didnt make a time machine backup
I cant download it from internet becouse i didnt buy it with my apple ID.
I had windows 7 and mountain lion at the same time, then i went on disk utility and erased Macintosh HD disk which i had only 27GB totally, so i wanted to reinstalled everything again.
Now the only thing i can do is open windows, if i try OSX im stuck in OSX Utilites.

Been stuck for over a year, please help me do this
so i have this laptop with 8gb ram and core i7 as well as 2 hdd (no raid).
Now i heard about premiere (cs4) and my laptop is ready to take most of the advantage but the hard drive is the bootleneck.
Basically, all i want is to do few cuts in a video that was filmed by sony hdr-sr11 camcoder in hd 1080 60i settings. Now i heard i need 3 hard drives etc, but at the moment, i only have 2.
So is there anyway i can do simple cuts in premiere without losing any quality and slowdown in fps or is there any other software that can be better? I really don't want to lose any quality or fps with the g73jh-a2 asus laptop i have?
i also have ati 5870 video cardThe lowest was 19mb, but was floating arond 30mb. Still that aint good..
I can't afford the partition magic and i heard its not good to partition after installing windows. I am thinking of fresh install, but if there is a workaround, it would save me tons of time as not installing apps etc.
For the setup
1)Can i have the programs in secondary drive? What about just a game or 2?
2)By projects, do you mean the videos that im going to edit?
3)what is scratch?
4) By media, do you mean videos im going to edit?
Lastly, what about a bit of data? Like <50gb.. Pictures documents etc

Those figures are disturbing. For any reasonably modern 7200 RPM disk these figures should be around 120 - 60 MB/s. If it goes down to below 20, something is seriously wrong. Now that may be caused by your partitioning or something else, hard to discern from here, but these results are worrisome.
Maybe Partition Magic can help you get rid of all these partitions, otherwise a complete reformat and fresh install of OS & programs is all that is left.
Setup should be something like this:
C: OS & programs & projects
D: Pagefile, scratch and media
It depends a bit on the nature of your projects, your workflow, but in general you set up your disks in such a way that disk accesses are spread over the available disks as much as possible.
