Stuck on "verifiying updated software"

Ok, I tried to update to the new iphone version 2.1 and it completely messed it up...
After I downloaded it and installed it, it was stuck on a step called "verifying updated software". My iphone completes every step but right when it gets to the verifying part, it acts like it isnt even plugged in. So now everytime I turn on my phone, it takes me to the screen where it is asking me to plug it in to itunes....
Any help on this would be nice...

I'm not sure what it's going to take to get someone to take this issue seriously but the fix mentioned, and it has been mentioned numerous times, does NOT fix this problem!
My phone will ALWAYS lock up at the restore point. It will sit there for over an hour before going into the endless loop of "verifying updated software". This happened on my 2G phone (let it loop for 16 hours before pulling the plug) and now happens on my 3G phone (been looping for 7 hours already today; just pulled the plug). This is my 3rd or 4th post about this. There is an issue and no one seems to know how to get those of us with this specific problem back to working again. NONE of my iPhone's have been able to do a new software update without locking the phone up on this endless loop.
So, after 2 phones and a LOT of frustration and patience, how do I fix my problem? I give my phone to a friend who has a Mac and he restores it to the latest software. Then, I plug the phone back into my computer (PC, XP) and it pulls the information from the backup.
To me this is an unacceptable workaround. It is frustrating and renders the phone useless until I can get to my friend with the Mac.
ANY ideas that have nothing to do with USB ports, reading manuals, reading threads or taking the phone back to Apple, would be GREATLY appreciated.

My Blackberry Torch 9860 is stuck on a software update. It gets to 10% of overall backup process and then just stops.
I cannot get into anything or use the phone. I have pulled the battery out and it goes back to the same thing.

Unplug your phone and start over again. Shut down BlackBerry Desktop Software, unplug your phone, plug it back in to your PC, open BDS again and wait. You'll probably be told that you have to reload your OS so go ahead and accept it.

If your ipad had no problems before, then it is your computer then may fail you. Try to restart computer and ipad.Try to disable antiviruses. If that happens again and you have apple store close by you can set up appointment, or try another computer.

The iPad 1 can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1. This is unlikely to change.
The apps you have will continue to work and there are still many apps which run on iOS 5 (or even earlier iOS levels).

If it wasn't Apple who replaced the battery, then you've voided your warranty. Bring it back to whomever replaced the battery and tell them they probably broke your phone.

Desktop flashing & laptop 'stuck' since doing iPhoto software update

Recently I was alerted to a software upgrade to iPhoto/iMovie. I set this to go but my laptop seems to have got 'stuck' since installing the software update (which took 3 days of stopping & resuming). I cannot open iPhoto or any other software (even after restarting/rebooting). The wallpaper is flashing between a 'default' wave picture and a blank grey screen. There are no dock icons - just desktop icons & the headers at top of the screen eg Finder, time, battery %, wifi network etc (sorry not sure what they're called!). I cannot use my laptop. Also my Time Machine has stopped recognizing my back up external hard drive - even though it has not been removed. Can anyone help me please? My 'local' Apple Store is 1.5 hours away so hope someone can help me online?? TIA

How much free drive space is on the PBookG4?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
Insufficient disk space could be the cause of all these problems.
Have you tried booting from your install disk and check the drive for errors?
Are you running anti virus software by chance?

Iphone 3G updates stuck on "verifying iPhone software"

hello- i have talked to the iphone telephone support and have not gotten this solved. i was using an ATT aircard to connect to the internet to download the new 2.2 update. the update has been stuck on "verifying iPhone software" for over 6 hrs. the apple tech support said the aircard connection cannot be used and to go to a highspeed wireless site and try it. i have done that and it is still on that same "verifying iPhone software" step for an hr and a half. the tech support said it would take some time, but should it take this long?
does anyone know if that is true that the ATT aircard cannot be used for updating?
also, does anyone know how long it should take on the "verifying iPhone software" step?
help me please.

About 15 minutes, tops. If you are using an aircard choose to download the update separately, then install it after it is on your computer.

Try a reset. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

No iPhone records voicemail messages. Visual voicemail is simply an interface to the carriers voicemail servers.
Contact the carrier to troubleshoot the issue with their voicemail.

If you followed all of the steps within that article then it's almost always a hardware issue. Reason being is that if you attempted restoring the iPhone from another computer (as the article informs you to), and you are still stuck in recovery mode, it proves that it is not a problem with the iTunes installation on your computer.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If your Mac has been installing software updates for a long time, Software Update is probably frozen. Hold the Power button until your MacBook Air turns off, and turn it on again. OS X should start up.

I have the exact same issue on my iPhone 4S and I am now restoring, hopefully successfully and without losing everything. I sure hope iCloud actually works for all of my apps!!!
