Stuck updating library

Hi,
I am updating all my libraries from FCX 10.09 to 10.1.1 and one of them is stuck.  It's been sitting at "Updating name of the new library... Loading name of project"
It's been stuck like this for 45min now.  I am not sure what I need to do to get this fixed.  Any ideas?

It sounds like you have a corrupted project.
These are admittedly long shots, but if you want to try…
If you still have the project and event files intact from the earlier  version, you could try promoting the back up project file and replacing the existing current version with the BU.
Or if you have a Time Machine you may be able to restore from a version prior.

  • Aperture 3 - stuck "Updating Library" Processing images

My Aperture 3 Library says it is Updating Library Processing 93,182 items. It gets stuck at 268 of 93,182 and stops. If I try to Export anything the Activity Monitor shows it is processing the Export, however nothing happens.
I have to Force Quit at this stage and then open Aperture.
I have tried the Option + Command on open and done all three options, however this does not seem to fix it.
This may also have something to do with not being able to view all of my images in iWeb photo browser.
    Any Suggestions?
On importing my Aperture 2 library I did a complete re-build of it and made sure it was as clean as possible.
    Thank you

I have fixed this problem....for now at least, I deleted A3 renamed library folders and system folders and anything else I could find that said aperture, then did another install and it all seems to work again and it kept all my adjustments etc...so I obviously didn't rename everything! Of course I did a superduper backup first, I was just so pi@#ed off with it not working. I manually down loaded the updates and have opened and closed several times and it still works. It did however work fine when I first installed it so I won't be surprised if it stuffs up again. Anyway at least it is working for now. hope this helps

  • IOS8 podcast app stuck updating library

I transferred my girlfriends old iPhone 4 (iOS6)  for to a newer 4s.  Did a backup, restored new iPhone 4s that was operating iOS8 and installed from a backup of the old phone.
Everything seems OK except that the podcast app says updating library for about 30 seconds then the app crashes.  I have seen solutions that suggest uninstalling the podcast app then re-installing, but I don't think you can uninstall the podcast app in iOS8.
    Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat and just tried something that worked.... (iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1)
First I bought another podcast app and tried to import my library, which didn't work. Hopefully buying another app has nothing to do with my podcast app working now
So I started searching for my podcasts by name and couldn't find one. Went to Safari and looked it up and tried to subscribe via the website...suddenly my Apple podcast library re-opened for business.
    Hope that helps someone!

  • Update process stuck "Updating library"

So, I have a large database (~400GB--been meaning to split it out into smaller dbs for a while but haven't taken the time to figure out how to yet). Tried to update it last night, and after the initial 10 step update process which went by after a few minutes, saw an error that there were inconsistencies and that Aperture needed to restart. I clicked ok, but it never restarted and instead began to update my library picture by picture. It's been stopped at 27649 of 130340 for a long time now, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do. Activity monitor doesn't show any life (1.1 percent of CPU constantly and no change in RAM usage). I know people have said not to force quit, but I'm not seeing another option here. But even if I do force quit, I'm not sure what my next steps should be.

With 130,000 images in your library, and the fact that Aperture is using CPU (albeit a small amount), my suggestion is to wait another 12 hours or so, if you can afford to. If you force quit, you'll be doing more work down the road and it will take just as long.

  • Aperture Stuck on Updating Library

In the activities dialog box the following can never be changed:
    Activities: Updating Library
    Description: Building Previews
    Status: 12 remaining
For some reason the above is stuck. "12 remaining" will never start counting down, its stuck on 12. Due to this I always have to force quit every time. Any way of finding where these 12 files are? Do I have to mess with the .plist which I have never done? This aperture 2.1.1 is not smart enough to tell the end user where the problem, corrupt file or what ever it is is located.
I already tried rebuilding my library with no luck. Anyone out there who knows what this means and if there is a solution that will resolve this?????

  • My 3rd gen iTouch is stuck on the "updating library" screen - I can't listen to any music and it's been like this for almost 24 hours. I only added about 200 songs, please help.

So I added about 200 songs to my iTocuh yesterday, and it has been stuck on the "updating library" screen under Music ever since then. I did add the music in stages - as in, I added some songs, then got some more and plugged the iPod in again (maybe this has something to do with it). I would restore the iPod, but I have music on it that is not on my Macbook and I don't want to lose that music. Help please!

Correction: I plugged my iPod back into my mac, it backed up/updated etc. and now when I go to my music, it returns me to the home screen. What is going on!?

  • Stuck on "updating library"

I just installed the latest iTunes on my computer, and, when I try to open the program, it begins "updating library" only to freeze about 9/10ths through the process. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling but to no avail. Can I get any ideas on fixing this problem?

  • Cannot start itunes as 'Updating Library' come up and jams

Since i downloaded the most recent itunes update, when i have tried to get itunes working, it has opened up and a grey box with a blue loading bar has popped up, saying 'updating library'. It updates as normal, until it gets about 65% of the way through and then it jams and says itunes is not responding. I can't access itunes while it is updating, so there is nothing i can do about it. I have tried reinstalling and have tried downlading an older version and none work.
Anyone have any idea because im thoroughly stuck at the moment?

that's typically caused by a problem with a content file or files in your collection.
tracking down which files are causing the issue can be a pain. but the "Check for content files with issues" section from the following document may be of some assistance:

  • ITunes problems after upgrading - progress bar "updating library"

after upgrading iTunes to the latest version I open iTunes and a progress bar appears "updating library". After a few seconds it stucks and I do not get a response at all. I have to cancel the program in the Windows Task Manager. Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers

You might try rebooting your computer. Select Shutdown and let the computer turn off. Then start it up again and see if the problem is corrected.

  • Updating Library on iPod

    Hello All,
I posted over at forums.macrumors.com and haven't had an answer yet and Googling is getting me nowhere. I thought I would post the issue here to see what might be done.
I recently used my 60 GB 5th gen iPod to move a file from my Mac Mini (PowerPC G4 running OS X 10.5.8) to my iBook (PowerPC G3 running OS X 10.2.8).
It was a simple .zip file and I used the iPod as a drive because using AFP between the two was going slow. Transfer was complete and I took the iPod back to the Mac Mini to delete the .zip file.
Here's the issue: when I connect it to the Mac Mini it launches iTunes and gives me an "Updating library on iPod" message. When the progress bar fills up it will do 1 of 2 things.
    1. It will display the iPod in the window and if I try and click anywhere in iTunes the application freezes and has to be forced to quit.
    2. It will not display the iPod and just have the beach ball spinning.
Is there an issue because the iBook was running iTunes 3.0.1 and overwrote the library file on the iPod and now iTunes 9.0.3 is trying to update that file? If so, how do I correct this? Without the iPod connected iTunes launches and plays with no issues. And from what I can tell none of the music has been deleted from the iPod. The .zip file was deleted just fine but now I am stuck.
As always, any help or suggestions is appreciated.

That is exactly the same problem I've been having on my iPod 20G.
    1. I've just upgraded my PC with XP, including Service Packs and updates.
    2. Installed the newest iTunes
    3. Imported all music files over from scratch, (did not import old iTunes library).
    4. Installed iPod Updater 2006-01-10 for my version of the iPod.
    5. Installed the new version for the iPod.
    6. Then used the restore feature to wipe the iPod clean and then plugged it into the power supply like instructed by the Updater.
    7. Launched iTunes with the iPod not connected.
    8. Then connected the iPod and created a name for the iPod.
The problem occurs when the draging created Playlists to the iPod. It starts transferring files and then stops anywhere from 50 to 70 songs into the process. When it freezes, the iPod's "Do Not Disconnect" icon stops flashing and I can hear the harddrive inside the iPod still spinning. If you press the reset combination on the iPod at just the right time, it will reset. From that point I have formatted the iPod and started from sratch three times but it keep freeze around the same number of files. Still happens with different playlists.
    Any suggestions?

  • Updating library, then crashes, haven't seen anything else.?

I photo.   Says updating library then closes. ?

    iPhoto doesn't run on Windows.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Aperture Updating Library... 126,637 of 6,959,575

    Hello all,
I upgraded to Aperture 3.2.3 and got an unexpected "Recovering Library" when it first started. Well, it seemed to have worked, and I did some importing in Aperture. It also started doing facial recognition in the background. I let all the background stuff finish, and then yesterday I quit Aperture.
At that time, it popped up a panel/sheet saying Updating library... 1 of 6,959,575 (commas added by me). It had done Updating Library in the past so I didn't think much of it.
However, now, a day and a half later, it is only up to 126,767 of those nearly 7 million. It seems to be going at a rate of one per second. At this rate, it will take around 80 days to finish. Given that my computer is a MacBook connected to an external DroboPro, that means I'm stuck with a non-portable computer that I have to hope has absolutely no crashes nor power failures nor any other hiccoughs for three months. Clearly, this is unacceptable.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on here and what I could do, please?
    Thanks,
    Doug

If you have not read and undertstood this, you should: http://photo.rwboyer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Aperture3Organization.pdf
This will tell you how to open the Library Package and determine how large your Masters, Thumbs, and Previews are.
    Some other thoughts:
How full is your system drive on your MacBookPro? If it does not have between 25 and 30% free space, then that is the first thing you have to fix. Similarly, I assume that you have run Disk First Aid or Diskwarrior against your system drive, just be be sure that it is not, for any reason, hosed. From your comments about Lion, I would guess that:
-- Your OSX installation has real problems; problems that probably rate a visit to the Genius Bar; there should be one near you in New York.
-- Your Aperture rebuild may be having problems with latency - possibly because the catalog of your system disk is damaged or your Lion install is damaged. Couple that with the slow speed of the Drobo and things may be timing out. I will admit that this is a complete shot in the dark.
Assuming that your 2 TB Library is Managed, that is that the 2 TB includes your masters, and that you do not have 2 TB of free space in your MacBookPro, then:
-- First relocate your Masters out of the Managed Library and put them somewhere on the Drobo. There re many, many threads on this Forum discussing strategies for doing this.
-- Move the Library (now without Masters) onto your fastest, emptiest internal drive.
-- Resync everything. A quick pass with iDefrag wouldn't hurt after this much file movement.
    Why lecture about backups?
-- Well, first of all you said that you had no backups.
-- Secondly, we are trying to diagnose a problem at a distance, on hardware that we cannot see. We can't really tell if your problem is with your Mac, Lion, the Drobo, or Aperture. Under those circumstances we could easily give really bad advice. The cyber version of the Hippocratic Oath (First, do no harm.) is to assure that backups are available.
    Good luck and best wishes.

  • Photo synching reads 'Please wait, updating library'?

Hi, synching OK with all other features of iTunes however my photo library just has the message: 'updating library, please wait'. It never stops & so I need help please.

Have you looked at the past discussions on this same problem? You can easily find them by using the search function the right and search the iPad forum for "updating library". There is one page of results for the last 90 days.
