Stuck widget

Hello folks
The problem is with my unit converter widget (that's the one that comes with OS X):
My currency exchange rates have not updated since 18th December. All the others are working fine; no problems getting on to the internet.
I've tried closing the widget and opening a new one. Restarts have not helped either.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem now that you made me look.. It stopped updating 12/18/06 at 4AM... Well, this is a problem we will not be able to fix here I am afraid, it will be up to Apple to solve it as the widget probably pulls these updates from a third party off the internet and Apple has not noticed that something has changed in regards to their source of information..
Until Apple changes the widget to use a new source or adapts it to the new format of the current one, etc.. here is a good alternative..
Use the Calculator.app that comes with System X. There is a convert drop-down menu and a menu item for currency conversion. I clicked update and it seems to be current, so that should work for you..

Address book widget stuck

Quite often after doing a search using address book widget the next search won't work - I cannot type anything in the search field and I get the keyboard bleep as if I am doing something wrong. Anyone know what's going on?

Did you ever solve your stuck address book widget? I just got Tiger and am experiencing the same problem. I've discovered I can remove & reinstall the widget, but that is terribly boring.

Widgets get stuck on desktop.

I just replaced my battery and now widgets are getting stuck in my desktop. Seriously! How do I fix this, it is so strange.

Widgets can be moved to the desktop if you accidently dismiss Dashboard while dragging the widgets from the widget "shelf." To remove these widgets, hold down the option key and click your mouse inside the widget -- an "x" in a circle should appear in the top left corner of the widget. Clicking the x will close the widget and remove it from your desktop.

"Translate" widget is stuck with weird languages

My "Translate" widget is stuck on stupid with weird languages.
How can I reinitialize it ?

When I start it, it comes up with "Japanese" to "Undefined"
Doing a language switch changes it to "English" to "English" .. again then it is "Chinese (Simplified Han)" to "Chinese (Simplified Han)" .. repeat

Widget is stuck on background!

Hello. I have a widget stuck on my desktop and can't get it to go away. It is fully active and I can even move it, but it won't go away.
I have tried restarting, using Activity monitor to quit it, and going onto my dashboard to close it, but it acts like a window in the background.
I was thinking of using a program like Amnesty (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17922) to try to move it back.
Oh, and it got there by alot of accidental clicks (My cat jumped on my laptop and there was alot of comotion, so I don't really know what happened)

It sounds like you at one time enabled the Dashboard "dev" mode which allows widgets to stay on the desktop - even between restarts. Otherwise, the widget would "pop back" when Dashboard was shown.
The solution is to pick up the widget and drag it, and while your mouse button is down and you're dragging the widget, press your F12 key to call up Dashboard. Once Dashboard is visible, let go of your mouse button and "drop" the widget back into Dashboard. This is probably similar to how you got the widget onto the desktop in the first place.
Oh, and Amnesty won't help you because it doesn't actually interact with Dashboard widgets (it's a completely separate and distinct widget environment), which explains why it can offer features (like widget rotation and scaling) that aren't available in Dashboard.

Calculator widget stuck on the screen

Hi,
I have calculator permanently stuck on my screen. I can use the computer without any problems, but the calculator is just on the screen all the time; whether I use Safari, Word, etc and it disappears when I watch movies in the full screen version. When I launch and relaunch the Finder, it is not among the programs that I could force to shut down. How can I remove the widget from my screen? Anyone? Thanks for your help in advance.

Widget stuck

One of my widgets is stuck on my main screen outside of dashboard. I was just curious how to get rid of it.

Press F12,then ''+'' in left down corner,manage widgets.

My slideshow widget is stuck in the loading position.

So I first uploaded my site to http://debijlgolf.businesscatalyst.com/frankrijk.html and the slideshow widget on the page is working perfectly.
But now that I have uploaded the website to it's final destination, http://www.debijlgolf.nl/frankrijk.html, the slideshow widget just keeps showing me the loading thing.
As far as I can tell the source code for both pages is the same (I also didn't change anything since uploading it to business catalyst), so does anyone know what the problem could be?

Ok the image aren't loading.
ithink the problem is the file name with spaces.
bc has no problem with them and your server is.... Just a guess

You should remove the spaces from your original file names...
it's know to cause problems in some cases
Do not use any spaces
Most operating systems can handle documents with spaces in the file name without a problem, but it's not a good idea for Web page documents. The problem is that when a URL is displayed it is usually displayed with an underline. And so many people interpret a space as being the underscore character instead, and so can't get to your page. Plus, in order to use a space in a URL or Web file name, many browsers require that that space be encoded- either as a plus-sign or %20.

Widget stuck on desktop

Hello. One fine day I found one of my widgets, an iTunes controller, to be permanently on my desktop, and on top of all applications. I didn't do anything to move it there, so I am truly baffled. I tried to follow the instructions on how to PUT a widget on your desktop, with the Terminal command, holding down F12, but since I didn't put it there, it doesn't seem to want to come off through this method.

Click on the widget on your desktop. Now, hold down your OPTION key (and keep it held) while moving the mouse over the widget -- an X in a circle should appear in the top left corner of the widget. Click the X to close the widget and remove it from your desktop.

Put Stuck dashboard widgets in backround?

I just figured out how to make a dashboard widget "stick" on the desktop, but can i make it below everything? So i can have my widgets at a glance, but not blocking my view of my other stuff.
Any help would be appriciated.

There are only two ways to have a dashboard widget on the desktop, but not floating over everything:
1) The shareware application Amnesty Singles ($10); and
2) The shareware application Amnesty Widget Browser ($20).
No other methods exist.

Weather widget is stuck on "Add cities"

Really dumb question here... I am new to smartphones.
Somehow I accidentally hit the weather thing, and it went to "add cities". I cannot get it to go back to just showing the temperature.
How do I exit or cancel this? When I touch it, it just goes into the setup screen, and when I exit that, it still says "add cities" instead of the temp.
Is there an "escape" key on this thing?

Anyone know why RSS widget gets stuck at "downloading RSS feed"

I have added a RSS widget to a page in iWeb and it just sits there at "downloading RSS feed" - when I publish the page there is some RSS feed data there but only a small amount and it's quite old.
The feed I'm using works perfectly in a safari browser but not via the widget - I'm running iLfe11 iWeb 3.0.3 (501) and OS X 10.6.7
Any help please?

There is a whole lot of extraneous material in the feed: I'm not familiar with SquareSpace so I don't know the procedure, but I assume you've started as a weblog page with a lot of text and images and the feed has been taken from that. It's probably harmless as iTunes should simply ignore it, though it does make the feed very difficult to read.
The matter of the media file is more difficult. I'm afraid the simple answer is something you don't want to hear - give up on SquareSpace and go somewhere else. If you host your files on a normal webspace server - with only the caveat that it must support 'byte-range requests' which is mandatory, so you need to ask about this before committing yourself - you shouldn't have any trouble. Some of these weblog creation services can cause problems, though I don't know of any specific issue with SquareSpace.

Time Capsule stuck in preparing stage. TM widget says following information...

I want to leave it going, but I have a Genuis Bar appointment tomorrow that I would prefer to go to, to try and get it sorted out. This seems to be a re-occurring problem and I was wondering if you can establish whether there is an underlying problem with the time capsule.

That compares everything on your system to the backups, to figure out what's changed and needs to be backed-up. It's lengthy, but not that lengthy.
Most likely, there's a problem with the file system on your internal HD. Verify it, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting. If that doesn't find any problems, Repair your backups, per the same link.

Stuck at 21% of the Dreamweaver CS 5.5 installer

My situation before i had troubles:
- CS3 Web Premium installed;
- Dreamweaver CS5.5 upgrade installed over this;
- I tried installing the latest mobile development update for DW CS5.5 but kept getting the U44M1P7 error so i followed this guide: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1p7-installing-updates-ccm.html (Solution 2)
I deinstalled everything, reinstalled CS3 Web Premium and DW CS5.5 installer told me i didn't have the right serial for an upgrade so i chose the trial version instead with the idea of fixing this issue later on.
Now my situation:
- CS3 Web Premium installed;
- Dreamweaver CS5.5 upgrade installer stuck at 21% for more then 90 minutes now. I tried both the downloaded trial version and the CD version but both get stuck at 21%;
It's stuck at installing Adobe Dreamweaver Widget Browser, that's all i can see.
I also tried rebooting a few times.
Please help.

The log file only get's updated as soon as i stop the installer via killing the process in task manager. There is no other way to stop it because it's stuck. Here is the part that's added the log file as soon as i do that:

How do I set one widget to be the 1st one that comes up when I click on Widgets

Hello,
how do I select 1 widget to be the first widget that comes up when I click on the Widgets button. Before the new screen guide, if I left the WeatherBug widget as the last widget I had viewed, when I clicked on the Widget button it would be the first one to come up in the center.

Originally when 1.9 was beta tested the last widget selected "stuck" so it would be the one that came up next time entering widgets. Sometime (more recently) the retention stopped working. It has been reported to the development team but I have no idea if it is or isn't going to be changed in the bug fix release 1.9.1 (no idea when that will be rolled out).
BTW - I have also noticed that they are now sticking ads in the wideget carousel - BOO, HISS - Bad Verizon!!!
