Stuck with a blank ipod

I am stuck with a blank ipod and I am fresh out of ideas. I have and older ipod, a 15 gb with a touch wheel, and I use itunes on a windows xp computer. I have roughly 9 gb of music on itunes and my ipod. I woke up a couple of weeks ago and found my ipod completely empty. I can still access all of the menus, but there are no songs on the ipod. i checked my itunes, and all of the songs and playlists are intact. since then, i have been unable to load any songs on the ipod, itunes will not recognize the ipod. In fact, my computer no longer recognizes the ipod. when i plug the dock into a port, the computer will list the ipod as a drive, usually G. however, when ever i click on the drive with the ipod, it will not repsond. this is true no matter how i try to access the ipod from windows. the computer recongizes the ipod, but will not let me access it. i tried everything listed in the help section, but nothing has worked. i tried resetting the ipod, deleting and reinstalling both the ipod software and itunes. i tried updating the ipod software, and tried plugging the dock into another port. still, everytime i click on the ipod icon, it freezes and i have to cancel the program. i have no idea what to try next, and was hoping for some guidance with my problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a similar problem. I have the same iPod it sounds like as captainraoul. Yesterday I uploaded new songs to the iPod and when I tried to listen to it today, there weren't any songs on the iPod. When I plugged the iPod into my iBook, iTunes froze and I had to force quit. Since then my iPod screen is displaying a cd with a magnifying glass on the screen. When I try to plug it in to restore the iPod my laptop doesn't recognize it.
Please help.

Try connecting the device to your iTunes library and restoring it.  If necessary place the iPod into recovery mode using the instructions in this Apple support document.

You buy one and only one download.
As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.

Try restarting the iPod by holding down the lock and home button together and then slide the power button to turn it off and then wait 10 seconds and start it up again. If it is not a reset issue then it may be a hardware issue. Is your iPod damaged or have you dropped it recently? If it is a hardware problem then you may not be able to fix it. If your iPod has multitasking options like the new iOS devices, close out the app and then try again, it should reset your device to letters instead of emojis.

Due the unsuccessful updation your iPhone has stuck in recovery mode. you need to download the iOS 7.0.2 from the following link http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7/091-9872.20130924.2wc82/iPhone4,1_7.0.2_11A501_Re store.ipsw and restore your device manually, please make sure you have all the backup stored since this will be a restore not an update so you data will be lost and you will have to restore your data from backup. You can do this by shift + mouse click the restore button in iTunes this will give you an opendialogue box to select the iPSW from which you want to update your iPhone after that have some patience and let the iTunes complete the installation and enjoy iOS 7.0.2.

I'm trying to use as an ipod.  Today when after I updated it, it is stuck with a picture of a plug, an arrow, and itunes logo. Please help. I've tried resetting.  Thanks

Did you try to restore it with itunes it should work then.Or try and reset it by going to settings/general/reset. If it doesn't work than go to apple some time and tell them about the error if they don't fix it than I am confused and have no clue what to do.

  • While updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

while updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

    - What was the error message?
    - Try closing iTunes and then disconnect the iPod from the computer. Then reconnect the iPod.  If the iPod shows in iTunes then you can try again.  However, You should try to resolve the error message first.
    - If iTunes does not see the iPod try reetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - I recommend that you come back with the what the error message said and the condition of the iPod and if it is visible in iTunes.
