Stuck with a horrible phone

I started a contract with Verizon on the 25th of June, and was told I had two weeks to return the device for an exchange.
My Droid 2 is constantly freezing, rebooting, and will stop recieving calls and texts.
So when I show up 2 weeks later, they tell me they accidently told me the wrong timeframe to exchange my phone. They said 2 weeks, when the policy is 14 days starting on the day you bought it. So really 2 weeks minus one day.
So I call into the support line, and a Verizon rep is extremely rude and keeps telling me it is my fault.
I want nothing to do with Motorola, or Android anymore.
This is ridiculous that i am at fault because a rep was mistaken on their policy. I am forced to either pay $500 for a new phone, or suffer through 2 years of dropped service, and a broken phone.

First, I just want to clarify that if you purchased the phone on June 25th, the WFG return policy would end July 8th, which is 14 days, or two weeks from purchasing the phone. I apologize for any confusion the wording may have caused, but the date would remain the same in either case. 
With the issues you are having with freezing, is this happening within or after using a certain application? When you were having issues receiving calls and text messages, was the phone still showing signal? Have you tried removing the battery while the phone was still on? You can also delete cache from applications to see if possibly a memory issue may be causing the freezing issue. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Application>Clear data/cache. Do this for larger sized applications and any applications you may be noticing this issue with.

    Hell started once I joined Verizon. Joined my sister plan to bundle up and supposed to save money. Went to the store and left happy thinking we got a great service. My sister gave me her Iphone 4 and she upgraded to the Iphone 5 and that was that everything was supposed to be dandy carried over with insurance plan and everything. Load and behold out first bill comes, notice it was about 20$ more than the verizon guy said it was going to be. We later figured out that he explain the prices a bit off but that fine he did a little mistake, we try to call customer service and tell them nothing they said he was right but said and wrote down wrong info. They did nothing so we lived with it, thinking oh well that 240 dollar we wont be able to get back. Then another hit to the face, they never carried over my sister insurance to the new line. So now I just stuck with a cracked phone and sadness from a company full of lies. They wouldn't ever offer the new contract deal for the new phone I need, contract was start less that 4months ago. I will most likely just cancel the line and take the 200 dollar hit and go back to t mobile, will end up being the same price as buying a new one from Verizon.  Just had to vent.

    Why would they give you a new contract when you are only four months into your first one? Imagine if they did allow this, and let you tack an additional two years on your existing contract. You would now be bound to a 40 month contract with the device you picked. Then add another two years when that phone breaks...you could be in contract with Verizon for a LONG time if this was allowed. It doesn't make sense, so Verizon simply doesn't offer it.  It sounds like your sister took advantage of you, adding a line so she could upgrade early, leaving you with an old phone and no options. I would suggest finding out when her upgrade is and use that when you can, and In the meantime,  buy a used phone if yours is no longer functioning correctly.

    My defective droid, purchased in January, was replaced by a refurbished phone.  Customer Support refuses to replace my phone with a new one.  They told me if I wanted a new phone that I would be charged.  Has anyone had the same experience?  Is there a legal recourse?

    Verizon Wireless....BUYER BEWARE!!!!  I got a new Samsung 3 - I paid $199 for it and signed a new 2 year contract. Some minor issues from the get go but nothing big until now......I've only had it for apx 4 months....It started blacking out on me.... reverting back to manufacture settings....google calendar was not working properly. I took it to the verizon store - was there for 1.5 hours while a manager and then a tech looked it over. Neither could figure out why/what was wrong. They did a few things told me to come back if it still happened. Than it happened even more and programs crashed. I went back to the store - they said they'd send me a new phone.....They did indeed a "LIKE NEW - REFURBISHED" phone. I even have the month to month insurance. We spoke with 2 people at verizon and they refused to give me a new phone. So I'm stuck with a refurbished phone - out $199 - and they got me for another 2 year contract. I was NEVER told that a replacement was going to be a refurbished one. Not Good Business.....Seriously thinking about taking my business elsewhere....Been a long time customer and get treated like this. Sooooo Wrong! Shame on Verizon Wireless!

        Hi mnomi! Sorry to learn of the trouble you're running into with your new phone! Have you already switched the device via your My Verizon : http://vz.to/16lkVUY Once you have done this, and verify the sim card is inserted securely, the activation will begin. If the phone is stuck on the wheel and you cannot move forward, you may want to do an alternative reset. Please follow the below instructions:
    1) Ensure the device is powered off.
    2) Press and hold the Volume Down button (located on the right edge) until instructed to release in step 4.
    3) Press and hold the Power button (located on the top-right edge) until the device vibrates (approximately 2 seconds) then release.
    4) When the restore screen appears (exclamation mark), release the Volume Down button.
    5) From the restore screen, press then release the following keys to initiate the reset process:
    1. Volume Up button
    2. Volume Down button
    3. Power button
    4. Volume Down button
    *Allow several minutes for the process to complete (rotating gears appear on the display to indicate that the reset is in progress).

    Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
    (If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
    Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
    If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

    There are no other fees. You are not stuck with the phone, you can do whatever you would like to do with it.

    There is no other way than to plug into a computer to restore the phone. You can use another computer to do so, but in case you did not back up to iCloud your data and settings will be gone.

    First we aren't Apple just normal users just like you.
    Second provide Apple a feedback or send them a mail.
    Third they will never send you a free iPad Air.
    If you want one you have to buy it. (go for refurbished if the device is too expensive) or look for special prices.
    Contact iTunes support if you have a problem with an App.

    1. Try forcing reboot by holding down the home button and power/sleep button at the same time until the screen restarts.

    So when you plug it into your computer, you're not getting a message in iTunes that it has discovered a phone in recovery mode?
    Reboot both the computer and the phone and try again.

    Unfortunately, FaceTime has been banned by the Middle Eastern governments so once you have purchased an iPhone from a Middle Eastern country such as the UAE without FaceTime on it, then you can never get FaceTime on that phone.
    If you want FaceTime on your phone, you will have to buy a new phone from a country that allows FaceTime such as the US or the UK.

    then it goes into software update
    at the end of the software update it says "Itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode...."
    All this time, the screen of the iphone stays on with USB to Itunes
    I might add that while the phone was in it's first attempt at recovery mode, it was accidentally unplugged.
    any suggestions?
