Stuck with defective phone
Got a DNA when I signed up for Verizon and have had the SIM error ever since. They keep sending replacements or have me take it to the store, told them enough I want the phone replaced with something that works. They told me the phone isn't carried anymore and my only option is to buy a new phone through the edge program...what a joke!
If your device is within the one year warranty you may get some decent help from HTC.
There really aren't any promotions being offered from other carriers. Everyone is pushing their programs like Verizon's Edge. Sure, you may find a lower monthly service fee but, other than AT&T, you won't receive anything comparable to VZW. All of them have figured out that nobody really wants contracts any longer and that means these programs are better for their bottom line. You won't receive any discounts on devices because you are paying monthly for them based on the full cost. If you use less than 2GB of data, I've read that many people on the forums have $60 plan.

I just signed up with Verizon 45 days ago and am unhappy with my service. I know about the ETF fee of $350/ per line but are there any other fees I will need to pay for the actual phone.
There are no other fees. You are not stuck with the phone, you can do whatever you would like to do with it.

Hell started once I joined Verizon. Joined my sister plan to bundle up and supposed to save money. Went to the store and left happy thinking we got a great service. My sister gave me her Iphone 4 and she upgraded to the Iphone 5 and that was that everything was supposed to be dandy carried over with insurance plan and everything. Load and behold out first bill comes, notice it was about 20$ more than the verizon guy said it was going to be. We later figured out that he explain the prices a bit off but that fine he did a little mistake, we try to call customer service and tell them nothing they said he was right but said and wrote down wrong info. They did nothing so we lived with it, thinking oh well that 240 dollar we wont be able to get back. Then another hit to the face, they never carried over my sister insurance to the new line. So now I just stuck with a cracked phone and sadness from a company full of lies. They wouldn't ever offer the new contract deal for the new phone I need, contract was start less that 4months ago. I will most likely just cancel the line and take the 200 dollar hit and go back to t mobile, will end up being the same price as buying a new one from Verizon. Just had to vent.
Why would they give you a new contract when you are only four months into your first one? Imagine if they did allow this, and let you tack an additional two years on your existing contract. You would now be bound to a 40 month contract with the device you picked. Then add another two years when that phone breaks...you could be in contract with Verizon for a LONG time if this was allowed. It doesn't make sense, so Verizon simply doesn't offer it. It sounds like your sister took advantage of you, adding a line so she could upgrade early, leaving you with an old phone and no options. I would suggest finding out when her upgrade is and use that when you can, and In the meantime, buy a used phone if yours is no longer functioning correctly.

Stuck with a phone i cant use :(
I have just upgraded to an Iphone4s via Orange UK and have passed my 3GS down to my good lady but it won't accept her sim as she is on Tmobile uk. How can I get the phone to accept her sim as I dont want the 3gs going to waste.....

Mine's fine.
Do the basic troubleshooting steps: restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If those don't work, bring the phone to Apple for replacement. And if you put a screen protector on, take it off and see if that solves the problem. -
Verizon provided me with a defective phone, won't make it right.
Okay, here's the scoop. I purchased my X online, received it on August 9. Purchased a combo case/holster and screen protectors the next day from a Verizon store. The day after (Aug 11), I noticed that my camera button was missing, even though I had not taken a single picture (was too busy playing with all of the other doo-dads!). Went to a Verizon store, and they immediately ordered my a replacement, which arrived the very next day. Great, right? Well, almost.
As soon as I powered up the new replacement phone, I noticed that the backlight on the "home" button wasn't working. The backlight for the other 3 hard buttons (menu, back, search) worked fine, just not the "home" button. Now comes the kicker: According to the paperwork that came with my "new" replacement phone, I am only allowed ONE new replacement during that first 30 day period.
So let me get this straight...I pay $200 for the latest & greatest phone. It breaks in less than 2 days. They replace it quickly (yay!), but the replacement is defective from the very beginning (boo!), and I'm {word filter avoidance}
? So now I can only get it replaced under warranty with a "refurbished" unit? I actually suspect that the first replacement WAS a refurbished unit, not new.
Luckily, the phone works and the lack of back-lighting on the "home" button is more of an inconvenience than anything, but I am still not a happy camper. Especially after being a Verizon Wireless customer for nearly 20 years now with 5 phones total on a family plan! IMO, I should have a comletely "working" "new" phone in my hands, as that is what I thought I was purchasing less than 30 days ago.Yes, but since they already replaced it once, they will only replace it this time with a "refurbished" unit, not new. And of course, they have nothing in stock, so they would have to ship the "refurbished" one out as well (which doesn't bother me at all...I just feel that I should be getting a new one, not "refurbished").

I was thrown in the pool with my phone in my pocket. I was in the pool for a minute or two. I got out dried it off and stuck it in rice. Is there any hope for my hope? If not, is there a way to fix it?

What a colossally bad idea! To anyone reading this thread DO NOT DO THIS!!! Once anyone other than an Apple Authorized Service Provider (and that doesn't automatically mean your carrier, just FYI) opens up the device, then ALL options from Apple are gone, permanently. -

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
I just updated my phone and it is now stuck with usb cable and itunes logo and itunes on my computer says I have to restore. Can I get my phone working again without loosing my photos?
There is no other way than to plug into a computer to restore the phone. You can use another computer to do so, but in case you did not back up to iCloud your data and settings will be gone.

First we aren't Apple just normal users just like you.
Second provide Apple a feedback or send them a mail.
Third they will never send you a free iPad Air.
If you want one you have to buy it. (go for refurbished if the device is too expensive) or look for special prices.
Contact iTunes support if you have a problem with an App. -

So when you plug it into your computer, you're not getting a message in iTunes that it has discovered a phone in recovery mode?

i bought a ipone5s in dubai and no one informed me that the facetime is disabled on all phones sold in UAE.i am now in india and stuck with a iphone5s with no facetime.isnt tht a shame??shouldnt the feature be availabe out of uae?
Unfortunately, FaceTime has been banned by the Middle Eastern governments so once you have purchased an iPhone from a Middle Eastern country such as the UAE without FaceTime on it, then you can never get FaceTime on that phone.
If you want FaceTime on your phone, you will have to buy a new phone from a country that allows FaceTime such as the US or the UK.
