Student Edition CS4 requirements

Hi,
My daughter is studying for her GCSE's and one element is Design Technology where she has photographic assignments.
Does anyone know if a letter of confirmation from her school confirming that she is a pupil there and is studying for GCSEs would be sufficient for Adobe's needs?
Thanks
Martyn

Thanks Don,
Just spotted this on the Amazon Web site:
Proof of Eligibility Required:
Students will be required to provide proof of their current student status to install the products. Students must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at an acceptable Education Institution (being a bona fide university or college -- including community, junior and vocational colleges or other further education colleges -- that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two (2) years of full time study) OR Students must be enrolled at an accredited public or private primary or secondary school providing full-time instruction.
This license may only be used on a privately-owned computer. Full details of the process for submitting proof of status can be found in the box.
Looks like she'll be OK as it specifically mentions Secondary School. I am still fearful though, just not knowing what the final outcome will be. I have posted a question direct to Adobe to see if I can get an official response.

  • Student edition cs4

I have an "old" student edition cs4 design standard. I'm a teacher and I want to use it. But where do I send my ID?

For details regrading the student/teacher provisions you can refer to the following information page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/education-faq.html#main_submit_poe
Another good resource for getting information is the student and teacher edition information forum:

If you think you need to contact someone in support directly, then try using chat or telephone support and see if they can help.

  • Student edition cs4 active problem

I receive a student edition CS4 as my univercity year one gift from my aunt . I follow the student edition oder fulfillment process and take a picture of my student IDcard as a proofing document . But when I enter the website which given , it is not a viaid website and cannot be found . Then ,I make a call for help from the given contact number, unlucky no one respond! My homework deadline is coming soon and I got this trouble for three days already.I really hope some one can help me soon

CS4 is not a current version and thus the eligibility verification is bound to fail. You can try to contact support directly by web chat and they may be able to help you, but otherwise only CS6 or an annual plan for Creative Cloud qualify for S&T versions.

  • Student edition, CS4 DP bought a mac, cannot convert license?

I bought CS4 student edition at the beginning of this year, naively thinking that I could switch the license when i got a mac later in the year, well it is later in the year and i have bought this mac MAC computer, but when I rang customer service they said I could not convert my license. Is there another method other than buying a new license to use my suite on this new machine, Natively.

Student licenses to have some restrictions but I'm not aware of a restriction on a crossgrade for it.
I'd call back and make sure that you speak to a supervisor. This restriction may indeed be in place but given the current state of Adobe's support I don't think I'd be too quick to trust the first person I spoke to on this.

  • Student Edition CS4 Web Premium License Expired

Does anyone have a proper solution for this? It seem like some of the people using the backdate solution, but how do I do it? All my entire programs simply do not works except for Arcobat 9 Pro. Do I have to individually backdate 'em?
    Or http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html will help?
    Appreciate for the answer! Thanks!

You can no longer buy CS4, so I'm not sure what you are asking. Should you refer to buying a used copy from someone, then the normal license transfer procedures apply and the edu status is irrelevant. Otherwise your child is assigned to a specific school/ school district and verification of edu eligibility is handled via them.

  • Adobe haven't responded to my serial number case!! Photoshop CS4 Extended Student Edition

Hi - I bought the student edition of Photoshop CS4 a few weeks ago. I registered on here and sent of my case to get a serial number on 21st June. A notification confirmed I had done what was required and said I would receive a reply, and therefore my serial number, in 1 day. I STILL have not heard from them via my email and have checked all emails including junk files!! Also, on here is still says the case is open and Adobe response is pending. I have one day left on the 30 day free trial and REALLY need the serial number now!!
I rang Adobe yesterday, and after about a half hour wait finally got someone on the other end - who said that the serial number would now be sent to 'the portal'. I'll be honest, I dont know what that means but assumed that I would receive an email with my serial number. No such luck - even though the status of my case seems to have been updated on 29th June (yesterday), I presume after the phone call. It hasn't been 'updated' though!! As in, no response has been made!! I am worrying now!
What am I supposed to do?? Where / what is the portal - somehwere else I should be checking??? Did I not do something or do something wrong? All I did was register and then fill in / open case to get serial number, including scan of my NUS student card (name, birth date, photo) - is the student card number required? Because that is the only thing I can think of that I did not include - I wish Adobe would actually tell me if I have not filled something in or something...!!
    Please help - Flo.

    Folks,
We are aware of the backlog in Customer Service to issue serial numbers for education versions of our applications. We are addressing this and expect to clear the backlog in a few days. In the meantime you can install and run your Student Edition in Trial mode. UK and Australia users, please be aware that when you install your application in trial mode you need to select English International from the language options, not the default language English (US).
Otherwise your serial number you will receive shortly won't work until you reinstalled your CS4 product with the English International language selection.
See this tech doc for more info:
    http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_kb407142_en-us
We are going to remove individual employee's email addresses from this thread, since having them being flooded with emails won't be a solution.
We appreciate your patience and sincerely apologize for the delays in reaching Customer Service and obtaining the serial numbers.

  • CS4 - CS5 Student Edition Upgrade?

    Hi,
I've done a forum search on this subject, if it is possible to upgrade a student edition license, and it seems to be a few contriversing answers every time it is asked. So i'm gonna ask one more time myself to see if anyone has the definate answer yet. When CS5 is shipped, will it be possible to upgrade from CS4 Production Premium Student Edition to CS5 Production Premium Student Edition? Or do i have to buy it again as the new version? Also a minor question that i'm sure wont be an issue but just checking, with CS5 installed as well as CS4, CS4 will still run too correct?

It seems that the upgrade from CS4 to CS5 (I have Design Premium) is only $US50 more than the new student edition; so, even if you essentially were unable to prove or meet eligibility requirements, it would not be that big of a problem in terms of cash. I think the bigger question is if your institution provides software vouchers; I was able to obtain one for CS4, and am thinking I should get one for CS5 as my courses are going to utilize the new software beginning next quarter. Of course, this is a question for the gamit of acadamic and financial counselors who would work this out for you, but something to consider if you're seriously worried about the out-of-pocket expense. On a positive note, if you have to pay for it yourself, it can be used as a tax deduction come filing season.

  • Installing CS4 student edition onto a new macbook pro

I have just bought a macbook pro (which doesn't have a disc drive) and am wanting to install my student edition of CS4 onto it.
As advised by adobe I have copied the installation CDs onto a USB and have then copied them onto my new macbook to try and install it that way.
I can install the first disc fine, but then it asks for me to insert disc two - when i open the copied file from disc two nothing happens ... anyone know how to get around this/make it work!
I have seen on another thread that you can install the trial versions of cs4 and then input your serial number to activate them but I don't know if this will work woth the student edition?
(I had first tried to install CS4 onto my new laptop using the migration assistant, but it must have corrupted the files, that when i spoke to adobe and they told me to do try installing using USB)

The only difference between student editions and others is the license... the software is the same.
As you mentioned, you can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • I have reinstalled cs4 student edition afther a deactivation by adobe but can not veiw ORF or DNG files in bridge i am runing windows 7

I have reinstalled cs4 student edition afther a deactivation by adobe but can not veiw ORF or DNG files in bridge i am runing windows 7

Keep in mind that if your camera is newer than the last released version of Camera Raw (5.7) for Photoshop CS4, Adobe does provide a free solution for compatibility, as Curt has mentioned, through the use of the free DNG Converter application.
The way that works is this:
    1.  You get your raw images from your new camera into a folder on your computer.
    2.  You run the latest DNG Converter application and choose the folder.
    3.  It converts the entire folder full of images to .DNG files.
    4.  You open a DNG file as you would an older raw file, with your old version of Photoshop.
While the DNG Converter provides you a way to continue to use your older Photoshop software with a new camera, keep in mind that there are significant improvements in the raw converter in the latest version of Photoshop that may allow you to make better images out of your raw files if you do choose to upgrade Photoshop.

What I’m not sure is if the version downloaded from the above link will activate with student edition serial numbers or not.

  • Photoshop CS4 Student Edition

I am interested in purchasing Photoshop CS4 student edition. I live in the States and my operating system is a Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger. It's also an intel. Anyway, I know a graphic designer who told me you can't use the program for commercial use and also you can only install the disc one time. What constitutes commercial use? If I buy a new computer, will I be able to install PSCS4 again or transfer the files?
    Thank you!

You can use the program for whatever you want.
    >If I buy a new computer, will I be able to install PSCS4 again or transfer the files?
You can deactivate the other copy, then install from the original media on the new box. DO NOT
transfer the program files, ever; always install from the original media.
The license is for one user, two computers that are not used simultaneously, e.g. a laptop and a desktop box.
You can read the EULA on the Adobe web site. Do a search.

  • Installing Web Premium CS4 Student Edition on Laptop After Windows 7 Upgrade Question

I hope that this hasn't been asked before but my question is the following: I want to upgrade my laptop computer from Windows XP to Windows 7.  But I hear that all programs get uninstalled after installing Windows 7 on a Windows XP machine.  I would have to reinstall all programs again to use Web Premium CS4.  But my student edition says that I can only install the program on two computers.  Does this mean that I can install the program only two times or can I still install on the same laptop after changing the OS (I installed CS4 on two computers, my laptop and desktop)?  I would very much like to continue using Web Premium CS4 on my laptop but am worried that I won't be able to install it since I installed CS4 on my laptop and desktop (two installs already).  Let me know if I can install on the same laptop after upgrading to Windows 7.  Thanks in advance for the help.
    WebMacro123

The issue is not installation...it's activation. Deactivate the software first. (Help > Deactivate from any application).
Back up all of your data, preferences, etc because as you note, this will be a clean install of Windows. Be aware that this is only recommeneded method for upgrading a Windows installation. NEVER do an in place Windows (or, IMO, Mac OSX) upgrade.

  • Limitations on Student Edition of CS4?

"You may purchase only one license of any Adobe Student Edition product. This license may be used only on your privately owned computer. Student Edition products may not be resold by the end user."
Are the exact words on the Student version page.
I was told that this means it can only be installed once. How true is that?
What if I get a new computer?
My specific dilemma is that I am on an older computer right now but do not have the money to get a much needed new one till the end of the year.
Class has started and I need to use PS cs4.
    Am I off my rocker?
    Miles

I had the same problem but instead of updating my PC I baught a Mac.
I think u'll find adobe might be pretty leniant in these circumstances, they've always treated me quite well. If you can't reinstall on the new PC I would give them a call and see what they can do for you.
    Cheers
