Student gift card usage

I am a UK university international student and am unable to redeem the student gift card i got along with my new MacBook pro. Since my nationality and apple ID is Indian it allows me access only to India App store. Even after accessing the UK app store, I am asked to fill in my Apple ID and it redirects me to the Indian App store. The denomination on the student card is in GBP. How do I solve this problem and redeem this offer?

To redeem the card, you will have to create a second Apple ID and open an iTunes account in the store for GB using your university address. After redeeming the gift card you will only be able to use the credit for content in the GB iTunes and Mac App Stores.
The other option is to sell the gift card to someone in GB with a GB iTunes account.

Where should my $100 Student Gift Card be?

Hi everyone. I purchased a Macbook Air through the Carleton University page here on Apple.ca that came with the $100 Student Gift Card towards the App Store/iTunes/etc. The problem is, is that I cannot find it or it has not been shipped to me seperately from the Macbook. I received the Air on the 23rd of June but still no sign of the gift card.
If anyone has experience something similar and they can tell me which direction to go in it would be very appreciated, or if I should wait and hope it comes at some point.

I am waiting for the same thing. I ordered mine (Edu MBA) on the very first day that it was announced. I've called twice on the matter. The first person said it would be along in about a week, ARO. After that time interval passed, I called Apple again, and another person said it would be 1-3 weeks after my order was placed. It will be three weeks this coming Monday. I'll then see if the second guy was accurate.
BTW, it comes as an emailed redemption code, not a physical card. You simply enter the redemption code in iTunes or the app store, as you would with the number on the back of a card.

What can I spend my £70 student gift card on? can it go towards an ipad mini ?

Or does the student gift card have to be spent on music and apps? I bought a mac through the education programme and received a £70 gift card, I have not used my voucher on anything else. I would be handy if it can go off the cost of an ipad mini, does anyone know if you can do this?

Gift card usage

I am looking for how to use a gift card in the itunes store. I have an acocunt already, and have no problem purchasing songs with a credit card, but do not see anywhere to enter in the gift card. I looked at help and it says it should be in the account information page, but I do not see it. I also do not see it in the billing information page. If someone could tell me how to enter in the gift card, I would appreciate it.

i did the redeem thing and got a secret password for my gift card. but when i try to shop how can i make sure it uses my gift card credit and not my credit card? this is my first time and i am sort of afraid to just hit "buy"

ITunes gift card usage in another country

Hi, I purchased an iTunes gift card from the states but I am at Turkey right now. Will I not be able to redeem it here? Is there any way I can use this card? For example if someone at the states were to redeem it for me?

Sorry, you cannot redeem a US iTunes card in Turkey. iTunes cards are valid only in the country in which is was sold. And no, someone in the US can't redeem it for you, since you are not allowed to use the US iTunes Store from outside of the US. You'll need to give or sell that card to someone who resides in the US.

100$ gift card usage

I got the card printed out and stuff but I have absolutely no idea where I have to type it in so I can use it online on the apple store.

actually no i didnt get it resolved. Right after I click on pay with 2 cards and type in the pin and credit number and click continue it keeps asking me for my credit cards security code... but i dont want to pay with the credit card

Why did I get charged for the gift card from the student deal with macbook pro?

Why did I get charged for the $100 gift card student deal that came with the macbook pro? I was told that it would be taken credited off my credit card however; that has not happened. Am I missing something? Have other people been charged for this as well?

The same thing happened to me but it made sense.
I ordered a MBPR on Jun 12 for $2879 which qualified for the free student gift card. The gift card was available to ship (delivers June 20 - June 21) but the MBPR wasn't available until a month later (deliverys July 3 - July 10). Instead of holding the gift card until the MBPR was ready, Apple charged me $100 for the card then shipped it to me.
About a month later when the MBPR was ready, Apple charged me $2779 then shipped it. In the end, I was charged the correct amount $2779 + $100 = $2879.
Why did Apple do this? I suspect that some people have cheated Apple by ordering a Mac to get the promotional gift card then canceled their order after the gift card was spent. Apple is trying to protect itself.
BTW, if you return the mac then you're expected to return the gift card. If you've spent any amount of the card then Apple will deduct this from your refund.

Your best bet would be to contact iTunes Support again. Also, make sure there wasn't an attachment to the email? But if there was not, contact them again and tell them you need to either have the form sent to you or you need to know where you can find it. Here's the link:

My iTunes gift card's redemption code is unreadable. I tried to submit this issue through the online support but the website wouldn't allow me to attach pictures of the card. What can I do now?

I have an iTunes gift card from a parent of my student. When I tried to scratch off the back for the redemption code, the code became unreadable. I tried to submit this problem on Apple's support website and the site asked for pictures of the card (front & back). I took pictures with my iPhone and when I tried to submit it, the website said it wasn't in the right format (my pictures were saved as JPEG files). I tried all of the file extensions acceptable by the website and none worked. I called customer support (real human) and she said that she could not nothing for me since the card was not purchased from iTunes store directly and it may have been from a retailer. So there was nothing Apple could do. I find that surprising since this card has Apple's brand on it and it was a legitimate iTunes card. I can even provide the serial number but the Apple customer support didn't want to hear it. She told me to submit the question as a product feedback via their website so I did and again, I got nothing in return.
I'd like to know if anyone can help me with this issue or if I will need to throw away this $25 gift card that would otherwise be very helpful for the students in my classroom?

When you tried to contact Support with the card's images how were you trying to do it, on your phone or a browser on your computer ? And have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same error message ?
As well as images of the card they might also want an image of its receipt.

I am a US citizen in school in Montreal and I was given a US Apple Store gift card. How can I buy the new iPad using my gift card and with a school discount?

I am a grad student from NYC and at a university in Montreal. I was given a 500$ gift card as a gift to put towards a new ipad. BUT, I apparently cannot use the US gift card in Canada. So, what do I do? I have no time to head back to NYC to get it. I want to order it, but not sure they will ship to montreal...? And was thinking of sending it back to my parents and then have them buy it and mail it to me, but I I think them having to pay tax on this is ridiculous. On top of that, I should be able to garner the ed discount but I dont think the US recognizes Canadian schools in their system and visa versa. SO if I do buy it in the US, I can use my gift card but I can't get the discount. Or if I buy it here in MTL, I can get the discount but I cannot use the gift card..
Can anyone suggest a solution? all bright ideas welcome.

You can only use a gift card in the country it was issued in - no way around that as the Apple Store does NOT offer currency exchange with gift cards.
Nor can you order from the USA online store and ship to any address outside of the USA - again, no way around that as the online stores do NOT ship internationally.
You could send the gift card back to someone in the USA, to use to purchase your item for you, and then once they receive it, they could ship it to you. Canada customs will hold it until they collect any import fees and taxes levied on imported consumer electronics though.
Either that or buy it in Canada with the discount, and use the card later when you get home again.

HT1918 how can i change the country of my account while having a gift card balance?

i have an account on the american store (which was originally in the canadian store) and i switched it because I bought my mac in america and i'm a student there and i got 100$ gift card to the american itunes store.
i now have 0.34 cents left on the account and that is pretty much useless to me. I now want to switch my account back to the canadian store because my credit card card is canadian and i can't do anything with the account until i switch it back to a canadian one..ad when i try to switch it- i'm told that i can't change the country on the account bc i have a $0.34 credit...and i don't know how to get rid of the credit. any help?

Why can't I move an iTunes gift card?

I just got our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center into Apple computers and tablets two years ago (Dec 2011) and I'm beginning to wish I hadn't. Here's the latest "policy" problem with Apple I've encountered. We have 10 Apple computers and 14 Apple tablets (iPads) and I've created unique Apple IDs for each device. When I upgraded the software on the Apple computers I had to assign my PERSONAL credit card to the account long enough to order the Mountain Lion upgrade and then I immediately removed my credit card from the account. I didn't like doing it because all of our students know the Apple ID and password for each computer so there was an exposure but I lived with it. However, it would be MUCH better (and SAFER for me), if I could order the upgrades for the desired Apple IDs, using my personal Apple ID account. I keep hoping Apple will hire some smarter people that might see the flaw in their current policy and change it.
Now, onto the latest policy problem. As part of teaching the iPads, I wanted to have a song on each iPad, purchased from the iTunes store. You already know my concern with assigning my PERSONAL credit card to an Apple ID account created for our computers so I really didn't want to follow that procedure in order to purchase a song for each iPad. My solution was to buy a $25 iTunes gift card. I could then apply the gift card to the first iPad Apple ID, purchase the desired song, then remove the gift card from that Apple ID and apple the gift card to the next Apple ID. That way, our maximum monetary exposure is whatever the balance is on the gift card rather than my available credit on my PERSONAL credit card. Sounded like a much safer plan than having to enter my PERSONAL credit card information on each Apple ID for all of our iPads.
Now, we encounter the latest DUMB Apple "policy". It was really easy to redeem the Apple gift card on the first Apple ID. I scratched off the label to reveal the code, entered it into iTunes, and was able to purchase a song for that Apple ID. Now, all I had to do was to remove that code from that Apple ID and move it to our other Apple IDs in order to purchase the remaining songs. The iTunes gift card balance would follow it, just like gift cards you purchase anywhere else.
I went into the account for the first iPad in order to remove the gift card but was unable to find out how to do it. I went into Apple Support and sent an email, asking how I could remove the iTunes gift card from the current Apple ID and move it to the next Apple ID. I just received a reply back this morning from Aaron: The BAD NEWS, currently, once you redeem an iTunes gift card on an Apple ID, you can't remove it from that Apple ID!!! I'm now stuck with an iTunes gift card with a balance of something over $23 and I'm unable to use it to purchase the other songs for each of our other iPads! I have no reason to purchase anything else from iTunes for that Apple ID so our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center is OUT the remaining balance on the iTunes gift card!
Apple needs to CHANGE this policy, IMMEDIATELY!!!

It says, cannot complete transaction, contact iTunes support. When I contact iTunes support it leads nowhere specific.
