Student Guide for Dev/2000 Build Forms II.

Does anyone know if/how I can purchase the Oracle University Student Guide for Dev/2000 Build Forms II.
I've gone out to the Oracle site and found a product (A80607) but I'm not sure if this is what I'm looking for.
I called Oracle and was told to call a different number twice and I ended up with a prerecorded msg.
Any help would be appreciated.

Oracle Forms is used by many companies who are using the Oracle Database and are looking for a fast and easy solution for application development based on the PL/SQL language. There are a lot of those around (You can find some samples at http://www.oracle.com/ip/develop/ids/customers/index.html?content.html )
Oracle Forms is also used for the development of parts of the Oracle e-business suite, so any organization that has this suite (again thousands of those) and wants to do customization is using Oracle Forms too.

Where to buy the study guide for Oracle Forms Developer 9i or 10g

Hi, I am learning Oracle Forms Developer Build Internet Application. I am comfortable with SQL and PL SQL. I need authenticate Oracle Study Guide for Forms Developer which will help me in learning basics to advance level but I cannot afford the classroom course, it is beyond my pocket capacity. So I would like to know if Oracle sell only the study guides. I inquired at Book Shops in my area but did not get any help.

Do I need special version of forms 2000 and forms 6i for Xandros Linux?

Please tell me if someone knows that, do i need any special version of forms 2000 and forms 6i
for 'xandros Linux' or the same can be install which we usually use for windows xp or 2000.

Have in mind that Xandros is not certified. However, the biggest problem if the distribution is a newer on is about OpenMotif libraries as Developer 6i installation requires version 2.1.30 to install successfully.

Connecting oracle dev 2000 forms to oracle 9i database on another server

we have these oracle developer 2000 forms (in .fmx format) in a server and the data of these forms in another server.... the server with the data is very old and is very slow...so we decided to relocate the database(oracle 9i) to a new server..... also, we move the developer 2000 forms from the old server to another server which will serve as the front end to the new data server.
The problem is we can't figure out how to make the developer 2000 forms on the new front end server to point to the new database on the new data server. I would really appreciate if u cud gimme some advice on this... so we need to know how the forms find the data, where this "connection string" is for developer 2000 forms.

You have to create a Net Service from "Net Configuration Assistant". Or you can copy TNSNAMES.ora file from your old server to new server. You can find TNSNAMES.ora file in developer_suite_Home/Network/admin folder.

Installation guide for Oracle form/report 6i developer

Hi all,
Does anybody had an experienced to install Oracle form/report 6i developer or where i can find a step by step installation guide for Oracle form/report 6i developer? I've downloaded Oracle form/report 6i developer software and follow the installation guide but it's very unclear. And of course, failed few times. Please, help me out.
Note: My OS is rhel 3(update 6) and I picked custom install (because i just need Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Sql*Plus)

Conversion from Dev/2000 to Developer 6.0

Has anyone converted Dev/2000 (Forms 5.0 and/or Reports 3.0) to Develpor 6.0?
I've been searching for documentation of the differences and what it take to convert and have had no luck?

For Forms, just open the form in the 6.0 builder and the conversion process will walk you through it.
Reports should do the same, but you might like to check with a Reports wiz (try the Reports forum on TechNet)

Conversion from DEV/2000 to DEVELOPER 6

Can someone direct me to documentation for Developer 6.0? We're trying to determine what it will to take to convert from Dev/2000 to Devloper 6.0.
Has anyone converted from Forms 5.0 to Forms 6 and Reports 3.0 to Reports 6? If so, what were your pitfalls? How much effort did it take to convert?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
There isn't any great different between forms5.0 and forms6.0. According to Oracle Corp. Forms 6.0 is 90% Forms5.0 and 10% other features like LOV wizard etc.
There must be specific reason for converting.
Otherwise Forms 5.0 is good enough.
For converting from Forms5.0 to Forms6.0 simply open the forms 5.0 source file (*.fmb) in Forms Builder 6.0 and re-compile.( latest patch for Developer 6.0 is Patch 6a.) U have to re-compile each and every form. Same is applicable for Reports6 .
Open the Reports 3.0 *.rdf file in Reports Builder 6.0 and re-compile.
Thats it. Very simple.
Oracle Developer 6 documentation is available On-Line on the CD itself.

Hi there,
At our company we recently begun working on a project using Oracle ADF with
UIX. We got the Oracle JDeveloper 10g handbook and we did a 5 day Oracle ADF
course. A good way to start the project I think.
One thing that bothers me though, is that I cannot find a simple clean example
how to manipulate a record in the DB, going through all steps of MVC. I tried
this forum, the books we got and google. It usualy explains a small portion
of the steps needed, but never a complete example.
I know people will probably say you can design what you want in various ways
and that's its all up to the developer, this is also the power of ADF that it
can be very flexible.
However it would be nice to have a step-by-step example how to be able to insert,
edit and delete a record. Showing all the steps that have to be made in the BC4J,
struts and UIX, including creating triggers, seq, autocommitting etc.
I think ADF is pretty complicated, therefore having a step-by-step example guide
(design pattern) would be very handy for a beginner like me.
Do such guides exist, are there developers who created such a guide for themselves?
Would other developers find such a guide useful? I'm curious about everybody's
opinion.

Attachments for a Custom Inquiry Form

Hi
i want to enable view only attachment image for a custom inquiry form
based on the standars Oracle apps table.
In the Oracle apps form, the attachment is enabled and users are able to use
the attachment functionality.
In the framework page, i tried adding the entity name and other primay keys, but it is not bringing up the attachments done through the standard forms.
Is there a way to do this. Adding new attachments from this Framework page works.

I followed the exact steps as defined in the OA framework Development Guide.
I tried all the entity names as specified in the DEV guide(Lower , upper, etc) but it still doesnot work.
Adding new attachments work though.
