Student in need of HELP!Best application for writting java Code?

I've been working on two different systems and need to be able to work on both..On one system the SDK is installed on a linux machine on another on a windows machine...unfortunately i cant open the linux created files on my windows machine although i can compile ad run them! What application would allow me to work on both systems wothout creating problems?

Hi,
I am a bit confused by this question. My colleagues here use Windows to create their files and I use a Linux machine. I have never encountered a problem as described here. Its a company policy here for everyone to save files in UNIX format, so I can readily open and edit those files created in Windows on my Linux box with NetBeans or EMACS I use. Sometimes when my colleagues forget to save their files in UNIX format, I have to apply dos2unix to mend those files, but still that isnt too teadious at all.
Try opening the files you created in Windows with any text editor that you have available in Linux - vi, emacs, gEdit whatever. And please tell here what problems, if any you encountered, in actually editing them again.
Correct me if I have misunderstood your question.

  • Anyone have any idea which is the best application for taking notes and essay writting?

im starting my first year of university and i was wondering what would the best application for taking notes on be? and also whats the easiest, most reliable and effective way to transfer documents off the ipad? Any thoughts on printing aswell?
will be appreciating all the help i can get!

You're going to get as many answers to that question as there are people to answer it. You don't state if you want to take handwritten notes or if you will be typing. For handwritten notes, I really like Noteshelf. It has lots of export options, my favorite being to Evernote (which you might want to look into as well for storage). For typing notes, I'd go with Pages, Documents to Go or QuickOffice. For working with PDFs, I like PDF Expert.
I've recently heard good things about Note Anytime. It is free for a limited time, so it'st probably worth downloading to try out.

    How to maintain a Mac
    1. Make redundant backups, keeping at least one off site at all times. One backup is not enough. Don’t back up your backups; make them independent of each other. Don’t rely completely on any single backup method, such as Time Machine. If you get an indication that a backup has failed, don't ignore it.
    2. Keep your software up to date. In the Software Update preference pane, you can configure automatic notifications of updates to OS X and other Mac App Store products. Some third-party applications from other sources have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis. This is especially important for complex software that modifies the operating system, such as device drivers. Before installing any Apple update, you must check that all such modifications that you use are compatible.
    3. Don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless. Above all, avoid any software that purports to change the look and feel of the user interface.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
As a rule, the only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Use your computer; don't fuss with it.
Safari extensions, and perhaps the equivalent for other web browsers, are a partial exception to the above rule. Most are safe, and they're easy to get rid of if they don't work. Some may cause the browser to crash or otherwise malfunction.  Some are malicious. Use with caution, and install only well-known extensions from relatively trustworthy sources, such as the Safari Extensions Gallery.
Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. Otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    4. Beware of trojans. A trojan is malicious software (“malware”) that the user is duped into installing voluntarily. Such attacks were rare on the Mac platform until sometime in 2011, but are now increasingly common, and increasingly dangerous.
There is some built-in protection against downloading malware, but you can’t rely on it — the attackers are always at least one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness — not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable.
Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. Any website that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be acquired directly from the developer. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from a web page without your having requested it should go straight into the Trash. A website that claims you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, is rogue.
In OS X 10.7.5 or later, downloaded applications and Installer packages that have not been digitally signed by a developer registered with Apple are blocked from loading by default. The block can be overridden, but think carefully before you do so.
Because of recurring security issues in Java, it’s best to disable it in your web browsers, if it’s installed. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This action is mandatory if you’re running any version of OS X older than 10.6.8 with the latest Java update. Note: Java has nothing to do with JavaScript, despite the similar names. Don't install Java unless you're sure you need it. Most people don't.
    5. Don't fill up your boot volume. A common mistake is adding more and more large files to your home folder until you start to get warnings that you're out of space, which may be followed in short order by a boot failure. This is more prone to happen on the newer Macs that come with an internal SSD instead of the traditional hard drive. The drive can be very nearly full before you become aware of the problem. While it's not true that you should or must keep any particular percentage of space free, you should monitor your storage consumption and make sure you're not in immediate danger of using it up. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the startup volume for normal operation.
If storage space is running low, use a tool such as the free application OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the most space. Move rarely-used large files to secondary storage.
    6. Relax, don’t do it. Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users; specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” "resetting the SMC," “rebuilding the directory,” "defragmenting the drive," “running periodic scripts,” “dumping logs,” "deleting temp files," “scanning for viruses,” "purging memory," "checking for bad blocks," "testing the hardware," or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are either completely pointless or are useful only for solving problems, not for prevention.
The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party application called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Disk Warrior is a data-salvage tool, not a maintenance tool, and you will never need it if your backups are adequate. Don’t waste money on it or anything like it.

A CHINESE STUDENT REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!!
    Dear Sir or Madam,
As I bought my iPhone 5 (16GB,White) in the USA from Sprint, full price with tax,  unlocked ,it was excepted to be a global phone. But now I come across with some problems in China  using local carrier, everything is working properly except sending text message, and iMessage and Facetime also seem not to work. This is very serious for Apple and me! Will I have the chance to fix this?
I tried all the possible solutions from the Internet, and the Official solution offered by Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4459), but it doesn't seem to work.
Will Apple help me with this issue? Please do.

No such thing is sold from any authorized source in the US. The Sprint phone is not unlocked. It can be unlocked by Sprint for use on international (non US) carriers for current Sprint customers in good standing after completing (I believe) 60 days of service.
If you are having problems using certain features on an unsupported carrier, you'll have to work it out with your carrier.

  • I need to made an application for web in php with sap bo.

I need to made an application for web in php with sap bo, it's this possible??, what do I need to have for to made it?.
It's possible to made an application for only sales quotation and to show  price list without SDK for BO??... only access on the tables in only read???... without transactions.
    thks for all answers.
    Atte.

Your question is kind of no easy answer. If you just need read only access to B1 DB, it should not have any problems for SAP support.  However, I believe it is not easy to link to B1 dynamically from PHP without affecting system performance. In test environment, you could try to do anything to make sure you may achieve both without affecting DB performance.

Need Information on an Application (intel) called Java VisualVM. I dont know where it came from, whats it's for and why it is there? More importantly, how to get rid of it?
    Thanks guys.

    Hello Ram
regarding "environment parameters" there might be one "disadvantage". If you would have the need to change the parameter you need a transport. May be there are other useful options which could be of interest:
As you may be now you can store user dependent parameters on the level of the SAP user. One example is:
You (as the user) can select  a property tree. This selection of a property tree can be stored on userid level (therefore if you log off and log on once again the selection property is your "default" one,)l. Regarding this option you do not need a customizing parameter. The "cons" of this options are:
a.) you must prepare this "parameter" like a constant in your program to be read from user profile
b.) you should make sure that the user can only select from a number of values or if the user is using a value which is not allowed you need some "error" handling routine
So may be this option is not so "robust" but is used very often in SAP and in SAP EH&S.
    With best regards
    C.B.

  • Desperate student in need of help with assignment =(

Please skip this bit if you don't want to read the things that led to this point
Hi, Im ICTstudent. Im trying to finish school before the summer holidays and find a job so I can afford an appartment to live in with my girlfriend.
I have an assignment that I need to finish asap because of the nearing summer holidays. My coach told me that it should take me about a weekend to finish it, so I asked my teacher to send me all the relevant data. after downloading oracle express edition etc, i installed them on vista and encountered a lot of problems (which I finally resolved thanks to this fantastic forum!)
However, this means that I have been working on this assignment for 2 days already. Just when I wanted to start working on the Form I need to build, I discovered that my teacher had sent me the wrong DB model :s :s :s I now had to rebuild the entire db =(
So, almost 2 days later I built the new db and basic form (which is filling the tables on the form with the db records) in Forms Builder. Now ive spent almost double the time i should have on this assignment, and I have to build a number of constraints... I have no clue how to even start with these =( That's why I'm asking you guys for help. I know its a lot to ask for, but I really have no other ideas.
Thanks for any help you can offer me
The assignment I got from my teacher:
Create a master detail form that looks like this:
    http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/4531/masterdetail.jpg
Which I did, It fills it up nicely with data from the DB, except for the following things:
    Number of highest bids:
The number of highest bids the bidder has in the itemlist (if it exceeds the minimum price).
    Include the following constraint:
bid.date needs to be in time for the auction. This means that it must be before auction.date.
    Add a function that:
When activated, changes all the “Bid number” numbers into the number which has the highest bid, as long as it is higher then the min price.
    Tables:
    Bid:
    bidID
    auctionlistID
    memberID
    bid
    date
    member:
    memberID
    name
    adres
    city
    auctionlist:
    auctionlistID
    description
    maxbid
    minbid
    auction:
    auctionID
    date
    index:
    auctionID
    auctionlistID
    Thanks for reading :)

You get marks for honesty. Often students who post here don't admit to their status. Some responders seems to be wound up by students asking for help. I don't know why, maybe they've forgotten what it was like to be a beginner. Me, I'm happy as long as I get a course credit.
By the way, a set of CREATE TABLE scripts is generally more helpdul than bald DESC statements.
Your BID table doesn't seem to have a column for amount, which will make it hard to implement Number of highest bids Unless that is what the BID column means, in which case it needs a clearer name.
Include the following constraint will have to be done as a input validation in the form, as these sorts of cross-table constraints are hard to implement in the database. Come to think of it, you probably want to include some input validation to ensure that a new BID meets the MINAMT.
Add a function that not sure what the point of that function would be.
Having read through your post I think you are in the wrong forum. This is a database PL/SQL forum; really you should be asking your question in [the Forms forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=82]
Which leads me to my last point: what is your question? You have given us lots of info but you haven't explained what you need from us.
    Good luck

  • Best application for Standard Def DVD creation?

I have a bunch of MiniDV tapes shot in standard def that I want to make into DVDs for my family. I want to preserve as much picture quality as possible during the process and will be using transitions, overlays, and credits.
I have used iMovie 08 and abandoned it because I needed dynamic chapter markers. I am now ready to edit the next DVD in the 'series', and with the advent of iMovie 09 and the availability of Final Cut Express at a reasonable price, I am trying to decide which way to go. I also have a copy of iMovie HD 6 which I used for my previous DVD.
From reading the reviews of iMovie 09 I am pretty confident that I would be happy with it functionally, but not if it costs me in picture quality. I noticed on my first effort using iMovie HD 6 and iDVD, that the DVD picture was not as sharp as the video viewed directly from the camera. Did I do something wrong, or is that a "feature" of iMovie? Would FCE be better?
My only concern with FCE apart from spending money that I may not need to spend, is the talk of a steep learning curve. With two little kids at home I don't have a lot of spare time. That said, I'd rather spend the time and get a sharp looking DVD than get a mediocre one quickly.
    Thanks for any advice.

    skalicki` wrote:
What do you mean by "dynamic chapter markers"?
I meant the ability to define the precise location of the chapter within the movie, such that when exported to iDVD the menu allows you to jump to any point you have defined in the movie. By "dynamic" I mean they may be placed at random locations, rather than fixed intervals. iMovie 08 deleted the ability to add chapter markers, iDVD allows only fixed interval chapters (which seems useless to me), as does Toast. I tried the work-around of using Garage Band, but it fails on larger projects. I've read that iMovie 09 has restored the ability to add chapter markers where you want, but if I'm going to shell out more cash I might as well get the package that will get me the best picture too (within reason).
In any video application, for Chapter markers you simply place them in the application, then edit them in iDVD, DVD Studio Pro, etc.
Not in iMovie 08/iDVD, but now that you mention it, how does DVD Studio Pro compare to iDVD? I'm mostly focused on picture quality.
Do you mean better animated titles that you could use within the program? For this FCE is much better, because you don't need to work with the premade things, you can create and animate your own from the ground up.
That will be fun. Not what I was talking about, but a nice feature. I know that FCE will have lots of capability that iMovie doesn't (by design), that's just gravy.
I have used iMovie HD 6 to place chapters where I wanted them in my last DVD project, I didn't have much trouble working with it although it is a bit more "professional grade" than iMovie (I know, not saying much). How do the two compare for learning curve/user friendliness? I would like to say that I'd get a book to read on FCE but the truth is that on an average day I don't have time to watch the news let alone read a book.
In my opinion, FCE is definitely worth the investment and once you learn it you will never want to go back to iMovie!
Thanks, just the fact that the output is higher quality is a big pull for me. I think I'm going to take the plunge.
Now for the next question: FCE 4 or 3.5?

  • Need advise on best settings for FCP 7!

I am looking for some advice on the best settings for FCP 7 when I am syncing sound using pluraleyes, exporting into quicktime as one file and then importing that new file into FCP 7 for editing. I have noticed that sometimes my Quicktime files are very large (20 gb) and sometimes they are much smaller (130 MB), but I never changed the settings.
I am working on FCP 7 and shot using my Panasonic GH3 at 24 fps (which comes to 23.98). My frame size is 1920x1080. Compressor is H.264. Data rate: 8.6 MB/sec. Audio rate: 48.0 KHz.  I have heard that FCP 7 does not properly deal with H.264. So, I am wondering, what should my settings be?  Should I set to "Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920x1080 24p 48 kHz"?  Is there anything I need to know when I export to Quicktime 7 Pro in order to not reduce the quality of the video? Should I be changing my video files first before I even start to work on them?
I haven't edited in almost ten years so I am desperate need of some guidance!
Final Cut Pro 7, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    Hi Shane Ross,
Thanks for your help.  So, I already synced all of my interviews in FCP 7 (using pluraleyes) before I changed the video to ProRess 422.  Can I just go into FCP (in the same project) and compress the video footage, import the new video files and throw it into the timeline? Or will this cause issues? I tried this as a test and it seems to be okay but I just want to check that there aren't any issues that I am not considering.
Also, when I do compress, it seems to take forever (sometimes two hours). Is there any way to make this move along faster?
    Thanks so much!
