Student & Teacher Edition - license question after upgrade

Hello, I have a question about the license after an upgrade.
I understand that I cannot resell the CS6 Student & Teacher Edition. But it can be upgraded to a following, full commercial CS7 version later, when I'm not a student anymore.
In this case, can the new version be sold?

Hello,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You can buy Retail CS7 in future and then you can transfer or sell it
Thanks,
Vikram

  • Student and Teacher Edition Licensing Questions?

Hello! Are you allowed to use the Student and Teacher Edition of Adobe Flash Professional CS5 for commerical reasons (profit-seeking.) I haven't seen anywhere where it said you couldn't but someone said you weren't allowed to. Also, does "your private computer" mean you can't switch computers? If I were to purchase a new computer would I be unable to transfer to that one?

You can use student and teacher edition for profit it is licensed just the same as commercial. I can't find a link for the student version eula anywhere but I know I've read before from adobe that you can.

No, that just means you can't install it on organization, educational , commercial or government computers. only your personal computer.

  • Student Edition - Licensing Questions

Hi all! I am a Web Development student, and I was considering a purchase of the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium Student and Teacher Edition.
I have read quite a few posts but couldn't find all my answers. I even chatted with Adobe online help, but he/she couldn't answer my questions either.
My question(s), and I do apologize if I'm making you repeat anything for the umpteenth time:
Can I design graphics and websites for clients either during my internship, or after graduation, with the Student and Teacher Edition?
Can I sell anything that I create using the Student and Teacher Edition?
I realize that the Student and Teacher Edition CANNOT be upgraded. Should I want to upgrade after I graduate, do I then purchase a commercial license?
Not really a question, but more of a request. Alot of posts point HERE or HERE regarding upgrades, but for the life of me I cannot find a price for upgrading from the Student Teacher Edition to any other license. Could someone PLEASE point me in the right direction?
Thank you in advance, for any and all help.
    Debbie

Hi Debbie, thank you so much for your questions.  It can be confusing - in fact I just re-read the first piece you linked and realized it wasn't as clear as it could be, so we're doing some rewrites on the limitations of the student editions.
    So on to your questions...
    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. Actually, they can be upgraded at any time - but only to a commercial version and not to another education version.
    4. Just check Adobe's discounted pricing for regular commercial upgrades - it's exactly the same for upgrades from academic software.
    Hope this helps!

  • CS5 Student & Teacher Editions & Commercial use (in Australia)

specifically student editions not educational version.
I know that in CS4, commercial use is only valid in the USA.
It looks like the older "education version" is no more in CS5 and is replaced? by "Student & Teacher Edition".
I have read in the FAQ from the USA Adobe website that this is allowed for commercial use:
    http://www.adobe.com/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
I have also seen the UK Adobe site that it is allowed for commercial use:
    http://www.adobe.com/uk/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
the image is broken on this link. is this just a template that has been copied over from the USA website? or is this the official thing?
I am from Australia and the FAQ has not been updated and still shows information for CS4.
clicking on FAQ from this link on the australian site of Adobe links to the CS4 FAQ:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/solutions/students/studentteacheredition/
    which is this link: http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/students/studentedition/faq.html
though after some digging I have found the Australian link to the new FAQ but it also has a broken image and im not exactly sure if its the read thing or just a template again:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
    they all state:
Can a student or teacher use the Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software for commercial use?
Yes. Those who purchase this product can use it for personal as well as commercial use.
I havent found anything about "only in north america" stuff.
anyway, i would assume that any purchase of CS4 now would have a free upgrade to CS5, right?
If i purchase CS4 student edition (which here in australia isnt allowed for commercial use) and then get a free upgrade to CS5 (student & teacher edition (i would assume this would be the version CS4 student edition would get for the free upgrade? and assuming that commercial use of CS5 is now allowed in Australia for Student & Teacher Edition) would that mean that I can now use my CS4 student edition that was originally not allowed for commercial use then now be allowed for commercial use when upgraded to CS5 student & teacher edition?
I hope that makes sense and doesnt confuse too much.
I also posted up a thread about my eligibility if im a student that has finished classes and waiting to just graduate now. I was wondering if I may still be considered an eligible student to purchase.

Hi, I think I have found an answer to this but I would still like to have it confirmed by someone from Adobe (please).
    I found a post at http://www.hellophoto.co.nz/showthread.php?3223-Lightroom-3-is-now-out&p=32387#post32387
Where someone in the forum says they contacted Adobe NZ about this:
I asked Adobe about the answer to the question about commercial useage - this was the reply I got
This has caused some confusion as we have recently
changed the policy around this. You are correct that it used to just be
in the US however in CS5 we have changed this to be the case for all
    regions.
In NZ Student and Teacher licenses can be used
for commercial use both during study and after students or teachers have
finished/left. I.e. a teacher can do freelance work on the side and
still be eligible for the student and teacher pricing.
When the next version of CS is released students
who have finished their studies or teachers who have left the institute
can upgrade to a commercial version at the upgrade price.
We do not require them to upgrade so if they wish
they can stay on CS5 indefinitely, when they do decide to upgrade they
will need to purchase a commercial license. We have tiered upgrade
pricing though so it works out cheaper for them if they do upgrade
    straight away.
The main condition for Student and teacher is
that it is installed on a private computer so cannot be installed at an
institute (school, uni or poly). Instead, educational institutions must
    purchase the Education version.
Student and teacher licenses are for home use on
private computers for educational or commercial purposes for that one
person. There is no serial number in the box and verification is
    required.
Educational licenses are for use on an education
institute’s (schools, unis or polys) computers, this is for educational
use only and does not include commercial use. Single teachers should not be purchasing this type of license, the only people who should be buying educational licenses are educational institutions.
I teach Photoshop and Illustrator at a Uni in Australia and would really like to be able to tell students if they can use the Student and Teacher editions for commercial use - If the above is true I think this is a very clever move by Adobe but it would be really good if they made it a bit clearer.

  • CS6 Student/Teacher Edition - Where to re-download

I had to uninstall my CS6 Student/Teacher Edition due to some problems I was having with the software (Adobe Pro kept locking up exactly 8 seconds after opening it).
I want to re-download the software now, and in My Account under My Products & Services, I am able to find my license number, which is great. My question is, do I just download a trial version of CS6 and then plug my license number into that? Or is there a different download somewhere specifically for the "Student/Teacher" Edition that I need to download instead? If so, where do I go for that because I cannot find it anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Jo

    Thank you!
On another note, I just went into my Control Panel and under Programs & Features, found Adobe CS6. If I click that and then click Uninstall, it brings up a box where I can select one or more components of CS6. It seems odd to me that Acrobat X Pro is in the list. I had already uninstalled it separately through the Control Panel (or so I had thought). Do I need to run this uninstall also before re-installing it?
Also, is there any way to download and install JUST the Adobe X Pro for CS6? I'd love to avoid having to reinstall all of the components (and having to re-do all the customized settings I've created for each program!).
    Thanks,
    Jo

  • Can I transfer my Student & Teacher Edition of CS6 to a coworker if my employer purchased it?

My employer purchased the Student/Teacher Edition of the CS6 software while I was taking a few courses. I have upgraded to the Creative Cloud. We'd like to transfer the CS6 license to a coworker if possible.

I don't think you can transfer the license since use of student/teacher versions are approved by Adobe and they have already processed that approval for you.  You are not in a position to make that approval for someone you might transfer it to.
The requirements for transferring licenses is explained in the information linked below.  It is my understanding, thru hear-say since I have not read the thing myself, that the issue of student/teacher provisions is discussed (and not allowed).
    Transfer an Adobe product license
You are still allowed to use the software even after your student status ends, and it can be used for commercial purposes.  One thing you should be able to work with would be for you to install the software on another machine, for whatever reason you might have, either as a backup copy (you are allowed to have two activated installations) or to free up some space on your current machine... and if it happens to be your coworker's machine and you happen to allow them to use it while you are not....  I don't see any problem in that myself.

  • Student/Teacher edition for commercial use?

I received the student/teacher version of the CS6 Master collection from my school which I am currently enrolled at and I have recently started a production company with some colleagues and will be heavily using Premier Pro, After Effects and other applications for our business. We will be making money for our services so my question is will it be ok for me to use the student/teacher edition or will I need to get a CC subscription for commercial use?
    Thanks!
    Richard

is will it be ok for me to use the student/teacher edition
    Yes.
    Best explained here:
    http://prodesigntools.com/difference-between-adobe-cs5-student-editions-vs-regular.html
"Since Creative Suite 5, all Student and Teacher Editions can be utilized for personal as well as commercial use, for all academic customers worldwide. So yes, you can sell your services or anything you create, or use these products in developing a side business or online venture. And after graduation or completion of coursework, you can continue to use the perpetual software on your personal systems; there is no usage expiration and those tools will continue to work."
    Adobe's version: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/education-faq.html
"Can I use Student and Teacher Edition products commercially?
Yes, Student and Teacher Edition products can be used commercially on your privately owned computer. They may not be resold."

  • Installing CS5 Standard Student Teacher Edition

I downloaded a trial copy of the CS5 Standard Edition.  The trial has expired.  Our school purchased a copy of CS5 Standard Student Teacher edition. After installing in and launching a program, I get the message they my trial has expired.  I try to enter my license code, but nothing types in the boxes.  How do I completely uninstall the software and reinstall so I can enter the license key?

Davidmad your serial number should be numbers only.  Perhaps you are reviewing a coupon code or product code depending upon your region?  I would recommend looking at the Student and Teacher edition portion of Find a Serial Number.

  • Lightroom 5 - Student/Teacher Edition

I bought the student/teacher edition of lightroom 5 from Best Buy about a week ago but my current laptop's operating system is not compatible with it. I am planning on upgrading within the next few months. Is there a time limit on activating and sending in my proof of eligiblity? And will I be able to continue using it even after I graduate?

There should not be any time limit for activating the product.  I can only speak for myself but I'd recommend getting the eligibility matters settled as soon as possible.
For details regrading the student/teacher provisions you can refer to the following information page:

I want to buy a Student Teacher edition off Craigslist of Creative Suites 6.

I want to buy a Student Teacher edition off Craigslist of Creative Suites 6.
    Generally not a good idea.
Can I expect difficulty transferring the license into my name?
    Very likely.
Will I need to show proof of Student/ Teacher status?
I'm not a student version user, but I would assume so.
CS6 Trial Download - where can I find it?
CS6 - Buy the Perpetual License version (Not Creative Cloud rental)

To buy an upgrade instead the of full version, click the buy button
then select 'I want to buy: Upgrade' instead of 'Full'.
CS5 and CS5.5 Products are eligible for upgrade to CS6.

  • Serial number is invalid when trying to install Creative Suite 6 (Student/Teacher Edition) on my new mac?

I have deactivated CS6 on my old laptop, but every time I try to enter the serial number to re-activate it tells me that it is invalid. Is there a period of time that I have to wait before it becomes able to be activated again? It's been about 24 hours. Or could the problem be that it was previously installed on a PC, but now I have upgraded to a mac? Is there any way to fix this? Please help! Thank you!

Normally a PC serial number is not valid for a Mac version.  I don't know if the following holds for Student/Teacher editions though there should be something similar...
    Change product platform or language
You can swap languages/platforms for a latest version product if you follow the instructions at the following link:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm l

Purchased student/teacher edition of CS5 a couple of years ago.  Updated computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 and tried to re-install CS5.  Get error message "The serial number is not valid for this product."  Help?!

How did you upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7?  Did you format the computer and then install Windows 7?  Also do you have any other Adobe Creative Software installed on your computer?

  • What's missing in the Student/Teacher Edition?

I'm looking into purchasing the "Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium Student and Teacher Edition."  I imagine, because it's the Student/Teacher edition, After Effects (as well as the other Adobe programs) will be missing some features/tools, that are only available in the non-Student/Teacher edition.  What are those missing features/tools?

    Nothing is missing.
from the "Student and Teacher Edition FAQ":
"Adobe Student and Teacher Editions are the same full versions of some of  our commercial software titles, priced at discounts for students,  faculty, teachers, and administrators.          "

  • Moving Student/Teach Edition to new computer

    Hi,
I have the Student/Teacher edition of Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection CS5 (Mac).  Works great.  However, I have been informed that in the new school year, I will be receiving a new computer!  Am I permitted to deactivate and uninstall it from my old machine, then install and activate it on the new machine?
I read through the licensing agreement and can't quite tell through the legalese if this is permitted.
    Thanks.

Under the help menu in all of the CS applications you'll find a deactivate command. It will deactive the suite no matter which app you use it from.
You can then install and activate on your new computer.
