Students change course / leave yet podcasting allows permanent access

The following is a direct quote from the iTU Admin guide:
"...The podcasting feature in iTunes U was created for ease of use and therefore does not require iTunes U to re-authorize users upon each podcast download..."
If we need to limit content availability to those on a given course (i.e. exclude from said course, those who leave it or leave the college), the above effectively says we cannot use podcasting (and all the auto-update goodness that it brings) unless we are prepared to allow, permanent (everlasting!) access to that student to that course.
A major disappointment =:-(
Does anyone know a convenient work-around? I am sure I am not the first to ask this, yet I cannot find a thread like this anywhere here.
Thanks LOTS in advance to anyone out there who has an idea.

PS: One idea we discounted was changing course ID when a student leaves, this would break all other students sync's and would be a royal pain in the keyboard to admin...

Hi Duncan,
How do you "remove their access to that iTunes U course" if they don't interactively login anymore and just use the feed they're already subscribed to? My understanding is that iTunes U doesn't store any user info and relies on authorization tokens passed during authentication web service call, something that doesn't happen during feed update.
I also thought that subscription URLs are "secured by obscurity" and always available, and that login and authorization just impacts interactive use of iTunes U.

The exact same script works perfectly fine with my colleague who is a farm admin too - But why not me?
BTW, This is JUST an example. I get errors for EACH and EVERY action that I try to do to any of the content databases.
PS: Also, In the past I was totally unable to run any simple command with PowerShell at all not even Get-SPWeb. But my colleague who is a farm admin too: ran this command: Add-SPShellAdmin -UserName Domain\MyUserName
Once that command has been executed, I was able to run some PowerShell commands correctly.
Still, even though my account is added to SPShellAdmin - I still get PowerShell error and I cannot execute commands against the content dbs?
Could you please help me out with this ?

In other words, What you are saying is: It is normal that a farm administrator's account gets error messages in PowerShell whenever s/he is trying to perform any action against any content database.

Is there any way to keep streaming the audio portion of a video podcast when I leave the Podcast app?

If I leave the Podcast app while playing an audio podcast, I can still hear the audio. However, if I leave a video podcast to do something else like answer emails, the audio portion doesn't keep playing. This means that if I have a video podcast going, I can't do anything else with my iPad while it's playing. I multitask all the time while playing my podcasts and then come back to the video if it sounds like there is something interesting to see. This one glitch unfortunately makes the Podcast app unusable for me. I'll keep using the Downcast app for a while longer because of this but if Apple fixes this problem, I'll be back since the rest of the app looks great.

I add a podcast in music, change the type to Podcast, and it disappears

Eventually these seem to show up again, but it's very annoying. I add a podcast because I want to listen to it now... I am on Windows 7 with iTunes 10.
I can try to add it again, but it never shows up. It's like iTunes thinks it's already added it, but it's invisible in both Music and Podcasts.

The reason you have trouble adding it a second time is just that, you've already added it. But you've then changed some of the information about the file and when you try to "add it again" it is no longer "music", but a "Podcast", and that's because you set it that way.
I still don't understand why you feel the need to change the file to Podcast.
If this material is described by its producer as a Podcast, the why don't you find the Podcast through the iTunes Store and subscribe and download it through iTunes "as a Podcast"? If the programme truely is not to be found in the iTunes Store (by using search the store), then presumably the producer has the Podcast URL (or Podcast Feed, or the RSS link) shown on their website. You can copy-and-paste that Podcast URL into your iTunes Podcasts section and subscribe (for free, usually) to the Podcast, in iTunes. Then every new epsisode of the Programme will automatically download to your iTunes, put itself into your iTunes Podcasts Library and if you have set your iPod to Sync Podcasts, iTunes will also add that Podcast episode to your iPod.
At the moment, you appear to be making extra and uneccessary work for yourself.
And if this material is not actually a Podcast, then why try to make it so? What are you trying to achieve? You can listen to it, even when it's Media Kind is Music. If you're trying to stop it from playing when playing your music on shuffle, then leave it as Media Kind/Music but set it to Skip on shuffle.

Changing Media Kind To Podcast

I have downloaded some free podcasts from Soundcloud but they are not going into my podcast tab in iTunes. I have clicked
'Get Info" and changed media kind to Podcast but it just disappears from my library and seems to go missing. It still plays from "Recently Added" Playlist but doesn't show in Podcasts tab or Music Tab. Can anyone explain why?

I'm also unable to change a couple of files' media kind from 'Music' to 'Podcast', no matter how much info I include. I can change the media kind to 'Audiobook' and they appear in the "Books" section, but if I change it to 'Podcast' and click OK they remain in "Music", and when I check the info the media kind has reset to 'Music'. Very frustrating.
Ironically, they were podcast episodes I had to purchase through iTunes as I accidentally deleted the original downloads. They downloaded as music not podcasts (since they were purchased, not "subscribed" to) and when I tried to change their media kind to 'Podcast' I had the above problem, but after the first try it simply greyed-out the media kind drop-down. I then re-encoded them as MP3s thinking that the protected MPEG-4 files wouldn't allow a change in media kind, but after the re-encode I've had the above problem. I just want to put them with the rest of the podcasts in the series/season.

You will need to sign into your account using the iTunes app on your Mac or PC and change the region/country for your account. If you do not have a bank card for the new country, you should be able to make purchases with iTunes Gift Cards if they are available in the new country.

How can I sync my iPhone and leave my podcasts alone?

I frequently have a bunch of PDFs and photos that I want to move back and forth between my computer and iPhone the file sizes are too large to efficiently email them back and forth one at a time I also have a bunch of podcasts I download directly to the phone. Manually transferring these podcasts to the PC, moving around all the podcasts on the computer to make sure I delete the ones I've listened to, but not the other ones, etc. is a huge hassle and really time consuming. When I uncheck sync podcasts it just warns me it will delete all the podcasts. Is there any way I can sync all the non-podcast stuff between the PC and iPhone and just have iTunes leave my podcasts the %@)%#! alone? Using the latest Windows iTunes and iOS on an iPhone 5.

You don't give a lot of information. Do you each have a separate device or Mac (or user account on the same Mac)? Do you each have your own separate iCloud accounts? If this is the case your wife can sign into your account in System Preferences (or Settings)>Mail Contacts and Calendars and check the data types she wants to sync. They will appear alongside her own iCloud data, though she will not be able to use Photo Stream with this account.

I have executed the costing in CK11N and saved the result. The costing run was successful without any error.
When I want to Mark the cost in CK24, I am getting the below error. Kindly help to resolve this issue.

First ensure in CK11N,you have saved the cost estimate without any error,the signal showing with green colour.
Then in CK24,first take a test run for marking and then without the check box for test run.
Before Executing this T Code for marking,click on marking allowance and ensure for the period,company code and the same
costing variant and costing version,it shows green colour which indicates alloed for marking and release,otherwise,just click on
your company code,enter the costing variant and costing version and save the datas.
This should be done only once during the period begining.
Once after doing this,ensure you have complete authorization for marking and release.
Check and revert back.

Please take these steps if you're prompted for a password when moving items in your home folder to the Trash.
