Studio 1.1 Images

Can you add an image to a studio gadget? Want to do a contest based on a picture of the week. Studio is the perfect place but can seem to see how to add an image.

Your best bet is using Photoshop or iPhoto to make proofing PDFs or webpages to post or someone can view on the computer
When you click on 1 image it opens and displays a larger version of the image with the file number attached
How are you are getting what you are seeing with the larger image and name showing up when you click on a button? Or are you asking if it can be done?
It could be done via programming by writing out file descriptions for the menus and tracks, or other things in the project (if you export an item description from DVD SP you can see some of the XML structures the write a program, Apple Script etc by running through the files in the directory with the images), but I would tend to use the other things I mentioned for proofers.

Developer Studio 7.0 image would not be displayed in view editor

Hi ,
i have installed the licensed version of Netweaver Developer Studio 7.0.09.
When i created an view ,uielements etc., and copied an png-File or jpeg File to source/mimes/components , and set the source property=<filename>, the view-editor display an 'X', so that the image would not be displayed !
Is there an bug in Version 7.0.09 ?
Or maybe some missing plugins ?

Unfortunately, if you are getting that error - it indicates that the NWDS installation is corrupted.
You will need to uninstall the NWDS and reinstall it - backup your data before doing so.

DVD Studio 4 Import Image Errors

I am trying to import some JPG files into a DVD Studio 4 project (I've done this many times in the past without issue), but I am running into a problem. Not matter how many images I try to import DSP only imports the 1st image and says the rest of the images are not compatible. Then I have to close DSP, create a new project, and I have the same problem. Only 1 image imports. I've tried reinstall DSP to no avail. Anybody else our there experience this problem?

I was having the exact same problem. PSD files that used to drag into to DVD Studio Pro without any problem are getting an "Incompatible Format" error.
However, I do seem to be able to import the same images (after multiple attempts) if I use the Import Asset button or File menu item.
Once imported, in the DSP assets window, the file Type is listed as "QuickTime Picture" instead of a PSD Document, and the button layers no longer work in DSP.
Interesting that this seems to be a recent problem...could this have something to do with a recent software update?

Install Log Studio From Disc Images?

Is this doable? I just reverted my system back to Tiger. When I originally installed Logic Studio 8, it took hours, seemed like the content discs were reading at 1x As such, I wanted to try creating images of the discs and install from there. Can this be done?

Well it will take just as long ti image the disks (basically, the time it takes to read tem completely) and you'll still need to install from them afterwards anyway, so it seems rather pointless.
I can't see why you expect to install Logic so many times as to make storing 50gigs of content on a hard drive for a reinstall worthwhile.
You're much better off istalling Logic, and then using the HD space to keep a mirror backup of your data - that way, no reinstalls will ever be necessary.
But to answer your question, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. The files are not copy protected.

Visual Studio 2005 - Display images in Crystal Report

I have been tyring to import an image from the HD into crystal reports. I have been failing miserably. I have researched the web and the forum and tired the approaches and still no luck.
I do not use a database and am using the crystal report that came with VS 2005 PRO. What version of CR do I have?
I have tried adding OLE object and still did not work.
Please advice!

What is the type of image you are trying to insert in Crystal reports ?
Have you tried using Insert--Image? You have to select the location of the image and place it in your report.
Is the image is located in your HD or pulling from network drive ?
Please try the following :
--Open your image in MS Paint
--Save the image as .bmp in your local HD Drive
--Insert the image directly or insert as OLE object.

sun one studio 4, ME.
Have did you solve it?
I have all my .java files and the .png file in the same dir. and
the call for creating the Image look like this:
logo = Image.createImage("/splash3.png");
and it does not work.
The .png file is in the jar content.
Will be thankful for all help!

DVD Studio Pro Broken since 10.5.5 installation

Every I play any video in DVD Studio Pro the image turns green. Ever since 10.5.5 was installed. I have an ATI X1900 for G5.
Anyone know what's going on?

Also Quicktime Player, Final Cut Pro and Aperture are affected. The only "fix" at the time being seems to go back to 10.5.4 until Apple provides a solution.

BD from an image

BD from an image
I have a movie 720/25 created with FCP 7 and stored with the Final Cut Studio as an image (blue-ray). Afterwards, I wanted it as BD-R burn with Toast-11. Although the BD copy (and the original image, too) can be played well on my i-Mac, with the blu-ray player on TV it is not recognized. As if it were a file disc.
How do I properly burn a BD from an image?

Just to expand on Russ's response.
HD DVD was a format promoted by Apple and Toshiba. Toshiba made a player for it. However, the format never caught on (think Beta vs VHS wars) and Toshiba soon abandond the player and the format. The only place it lives on is in DVD SP and continues to cause issues for people who don't understand that BluRay is a completely different and non-compatible format.
Russ has you covered if you want a BluRay disk.
Also, if you want to create a DVD that will play in a standard DVD set up, you have to start over in DVD SP. Nothing in the HD DVD project you created is reusable.

Black magic ultra studio 4K

Friends,
Can anyone tell me the real advantages of using an external video card like blackmagic ultra studio 4K?
I'm using FInal Cut Pro X in my 27" 3.2 Ghz iMac witha 32GB of memory.
Normally I work with 4K / 5K RED footages.
Do you think it speeds up the video processing if we use an ultra studio 4K?
My doubt is other than the multiple output options, will it do an extra processing for an application like Final Cut Pro X?

let me clarify this.
since I'm working with 4K or 5K images and my projector is a 1920*1080, if I use an ultra studio 4K, the images appearing will have more detail than connecting through my display port? is the how pixel-by-pixel works?
the monitor I;m using is a 2560*1440 resolution. which is better? connecting though the display port or through the ultra studio 4K?
Whats the real advantage of using this card when I use Final Cut Pro X for colour grading.
Will this card acts like an internal card we used earlier?

10.6 Server, Deploy Studio for Macs, Fog for PCs

I've been banging my head on this problem for the last two days and am at the point that I'm going in circles. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
We have a mini server running 10.6.7. For a while now (8+ months) it has been our DHCP server and we have used deploy studio to deploy images to our Macs. So far, so good.
We decided to use deploy studio for PC deployment, and after some testing changed our minds and chose to switch our PC deployment to a fog server. This is where the trouble comes in.
I uninstalled deploy studio entirely, re-installed it without the PC components and re-configured it so it only responds to Macs. I also deleted all of its PC files.
When we try to network boot a PC, it appears they are STILL trying to connect to our mini server instead of the fog machine.
I've gone into the /etc/bootpd.plist and tried adding or modifying the following values in various configurations.

<key>dhcp_bootfile_name</key>
<string>pxelinux.0</string>
<key>dhcp_option_66</key>
<data>wKgBGQ==</data>

wKgBGQ== is the encoded value of the fog server's IP address using "DHCP Option Code Utility". I also tried using it for the pxelinux.0 file option, with no change in the symptom or result.
As long as I use 1 of each of the options (i believe tftp_server_name is 66, and bootfile_name is 67), I can use IPNetMonitorX to query options 66 & 67 and I get the following:
Unrecognized DHCP option: 66 length: 4 value: 192.168.1.25
Unrecognized DHCP option: 67 length: 10 value: 7078656c 696e7578 2e30
If I put the 2nd line's value through a hex to ascii converter, I get pxelinux.0
No matter what, the PC's always give "TFTP Error - file not found".
Netboot and deploy studio still works for the Macs. I have no idea how to get the PCs to stop trying to connect to our mini server and look at the fog server instead.

I got a step further. I set option 128 (usually TFTP Server IP address) to the IP address of the fog server, and now 1 boot out of 5 or so, the PCs boot to the fog server.
It seems like the request is timing out too fast for some of the PCs, so now I'm trying to find that option.

Disk Images and Folder Dimensions

Hey all,
I've been looking around, and I can't seem to find an answer to this. How can I create a disk image based on a folder or volume and preserve the folder's original dimensions?
For example, I have a background image for a folder, and I've been able to create a disk image with that background image; however, after archiving that image, posting it, and re-downloading it, the dimensions are completely lost.
When I've tried to just recompress my disk image, but, doing anything shy of just copying over the contents of the folder onto a R/W disk image, the dimensions keep getting lost. (And, as stated above, after archive and download, the posted image still loses its dimensions).
Any ideas?

Disk images and existing POP accounts

I create disk images to replicate workstations we use here at work. The disk images have everything I can possibly set up including seven users and their accounts like iChat and Apple Mail, etc.
I've always had good outcome with this procedure and just created a new image which included a Snow Leopard system for the first time. (yes, we've held back for a while for good reason, though.)
Now, however, when I restore the newest computers from my Snow Leopard image and open Apple Mail, the accounts I went to so much trouble setting up aren't there. (Actually, an IMAP account is there but the POP accounts I set up in each user folder does not make it through the imaging process.)
Does the mail plist key the account to the hard disk it's on?
Does anyone know a trick that might bring these accounts back after restore?

Bug Report: "View PDF After Saving" Does Not Work When Saving as Photoshop PDF

The saved PDF file is not opening in Acrobat after saving a file as a Photoshop PDF. I noticed it happening a few times in earlier beta testing, but today it happened again.
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2 installed on MacPro with Lion OS 10.7.3. Photoshop public beta m415. System info can be provided if needed.
The file I was trying to save was about 8 MB. Once it failed to open after save, I tried varied PDF settings and save locations. Also tried several different files. All were saved properly as PDF files, but would not continue to open in Acrobat as previous versions have done. The files open properly when you click on the file names in saved location.

I'm happy I could help and feel a bit proud to have found a real bug. The simplest work around is just clicking on the file list once it's done...that's certainly not a problem.

How to change the picture frame size in Lightroom 5 Book

I would like to control the actual picture frame size when making a Book in Lightroom 5. Or else know the sizes of the different picture frames provided by choosing the different page layouts. That way I can either change the picture frame dimensions to accomodate each photo or change the image size to fit in the offered picture frame. I find that using the software as is winds up cropping the images in unwanted ways. Modifying the picture frame would be my preferred alternative. Appreciate any ideas

I have been using Adobe Photoshop 7, Photoshop Elements, Perfect Photo Suite, Photo Studio, etc., changing Image size, placing a picture on a page and then, do a simple last minute size adjustment by using the arrows to stretch or shrink it in place. Things would be a lot simpler if I could do the same thing with the cells in Lightroom 5. Cell pad adjustments do not fill the bill.

DVD DL burn issues - internal target error - fake hardware errors

I am receiving an error from DVD studio pro 3 and Toast 6 when burning DVD DL. The error only appears when burning Memorex and Verbatim discs (so far) using these applications. HP branded DVD DLs burnt fine from the same applications. Aside from the obvious, using only the HPs, has any one found a solution to this problem.
My error code is ....Formatting failed: internal device reports hardware error:internal target error 0x440x00...
I have tested this on other macs in my office and can repeat the error, so it leaves me to believe it is not actually hardware, but more over, likely firmware and or software upgrades. All equipment is less than 16 months old, intel chipped... I need a fix for our travel edit laptop - a Mac book pro.
Another thing that makes me conclude it isn't actually a hardware issue, the same discs that won't burn in Toast or DVDsp3, burn just fine using the finder's burning capabilties.

its been a few days since I posted my problem- i'm not surprised there hasn't been any movement on this topic... seems to be the status quo for all topics about this DVD DL problem..
For those with a similar problem, I'll review my work around for the situation.
Here is the low down review of my problem:
• the matSHITa DVD-R(UJ-846) will not burn DVD DLs from Toast 6 or DVD studio pro 3.
• the Mac says internal hardware failure or sometimes a session error - see previous posts for code
My work around:
• export disc image from DVD studio pro
• burn image as DVD-ROM (UDF) WITH simulation mode checked.
• worked for Memorex 8x DVD+R DLs, Verbatim 8x DVD+R DLs not at 8x speed, used 2x setting.
It takes a longer time for this route but has work consistently on about 15 DVD burns so far... I'll post again if this fails or stops working.
Again that is an intel chipped Mac Book Pro and iMac with the matSHITa DVD burner. Yes I capitalized that 4 letter segment on purpose.
