Studio 5 on Windows XP: Cannot launch external browser (Netscape),

Hi; This little problem is a real PITA.
System: Win XP Pro
Browser: Netscape 7.02
Problem: Configuring IDE to use Netscape.
No matter what and how I try (via options) the IDE does not know how to launch a url in Netscape. It launches Netscape but does not succeed with the insertion of the url.

Hi Nat... yep... this took me a couple of trys...
1. go to Tools/Options/Server and External Tool Setting
2. select Web Browsers/External Browser (Windows)
3. set your path to Netscape.exe (mine was C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe)
4 Now make sure you select NETSCAPE6 for the DDE Server property from the drop-down menu for that property...
Hope this helps...It took several frustrating moments to figure that one out...

I created a windows service that receives pdf files in one folder and should print them opening adobe reader. In my PC with Windows 7 it works just fine but when the application is deployed in Windows 2008 R2 server then the windows service is not able to
launch Adobe Reader.

If not, I suggest you use Process Monitor to find out why exactly Windows cannot launch Adobe Reader.

Cannot launch external exe

Hi,
I have to launch and external exe.
The exe "ComputeRay" is working when I launch it from the command window as shown below.
But when I try to launch it with system ("ComputeRay") I get the error file not found (-3).
How could I make it work?

I may be wrong, but it's my opinion that using two consecutive calls to system () is equivalent to open a command prompt, call the exe, closing the window, opening a new command prompt and calling the other program.
The easiest solution could be to add the last call inside the batch file make one call only to system. Alternatively you could try editing environment variables like PATH with _putenv () function. You could also try to edit _default.pif file (or whichever is its equivalent in Win7/8 OSs) as described in the help for system ().The last resource could be to permanently set environment variables in your system as described in this guide.

Cannot launch SQL Server management studio

Hi people,
I cannot launch the sql server management studio. In the event log, appear the next entry:
Faulting application ssmsee.exe, version 2005.90.2047.0, faulting module msvcr80.dll, version 8.0.50727.4053, fault address 0x0000e7a2.
What can i do for repair this? Uninstall the sql instance? This affect to sap system installed?

What is the MS SQL Server version and SP level ? Which windows server is it - 2000/2003/2008 - 32bit/64 bit ?
Is the database/SAP up and running ?
I got to see another old thread for similar problem from you. Is it a regular problem or just something happened recently ? Any configuration changes/any activity related to MS SQL Server or any OS changes done recently ? But as the link suggests in your old thread, may be you can give it a try or try upgrading the sql server to a higher SP level ?

Just a few pieces of clarifying information... This is Safari on OS X you're talking about, right? Also, what update did your daughter install? Have you tried reinstalling Safari (you can download it from Apple's site)?

Not able to run the mxml file (Browser window is not launching)

I have flex 2.0 version installed on my window xp desktop. I have created one very simple form using TextInput and Label (Like:Video 04: Using Pre Built Flex Controls) but when I am clicking on the "Run" button at top near Print icon nothing is happening and I am not able to see form in browser window( window is not launching).
I have attached the flex project screen shot. (ProjectScreen.gif)
Do anyone have any idea why it is happening.

Open external browser in SAME window

Hi all. I've seen several posts on a related issue here about how one could open up an external web browser to display content in the browser window. I tested the solution which uses a call to Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...) to execute a new Process and it works wonderfully. However, in my case, I would like to be able to reuse the same browser window if one is already open. In other words, I would like my application to only allow a single instance of the external browser to be open at any given time, and, if an instance exists, display the (potentially different) content in the existing browser window. External Browser does not launch

I'm using ColdFusion Builder 9 on Mac.
When I run ColdFusion Application, external browser (Safari) does not launch.
I went to Adobe ColdFusion Builder>Preferenceces>Web Browser and made sure that 'use external web browser' and 'Default system Web browser' are selected.
In case, 'Default system Web Browser' is not working for some reason, I try to define a new external web browser (Chrome).
I enter the followings for the required fields:
Name: Chrome
Location: /Applications/Google Chrome.app
Parameters: -url http://localhost:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm
When I hit OK, 'The location value is not a valid path name' dialog appears.
Any help would be appreciated

The space in 'Google Chrome' is tripping FB4 up apparently.

Cannot launch Dolby Home Theater after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi, I'm using a Z50-70 and one of my favorite things about it is the Dolby Digital Plus feature. But after upgrading to Windows 10, I cannot launch it anymore. All I have is this sucky Conexant audio driver. Will there be a solution for this in the future? Because I'm thinking of going back to Windows 8.1 even if it is tad slow just to be able to use the Dolby audio again.

If I reboot to Windows directly from Windows (bootcamp options), I cannot launch a vm in Hyper-V

If I reboot to Windows directly from Windows (bootcamp options) or press "option" key and select Windows after power on iMac, I cannot launch a vm in Hyper-V anymore (the Windows Phone 8 emulator to be precise). It says hardware virtualization is not enabled in BIOS.
When I boot Windows from OS X > Startup Disk > Boot Windows or boot OS X and reboot iMac and boot Windows after press "option" key and select Windows, I can launch a virtual machine in hyper-V, so that's cool.
How it fix? Any ideas?

You should always use System Preferences -> Startup Disk. It enables the CSM-BIOS layer. When you use the Option Key, Windows will come up, but underlying CSM-BIOS layer is not invoked. The Hyper-V depends on BIOS settings, it will only work when using the Startup Disk option.

Cannot launch Java Report Panel

I would like to use the 'Advanced' Web Intelligence editor.
Unfortunately, when I attempt to edit a WI report, I get a message that reads 'This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it?'
If I allow the installation, Java 6, Update 3 is downloaded and installed. I restart the browser. Attempting to edit the WI report generates the installation message.
If I don't allow the installation, I get an error that reads 'Cannot launch Java Report Panel, please make sure you have installed a Java virtual machine.'.
It never gets out of this installation loop.
At one point, the Advance editor worked, then something changed.
The Java Control Panel indicates that I have JRE versions 1.6.0_03 and 1.6.0._20 installed (in the Java Applet Runtime Settings). In addition, versions 1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_07, 1.4.2_12, and 1.6.0_03 are listed in the JNLP Runtime settings.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem and I don't see an answer here. I have uninstalled every instance of java and restarted my computer, then installed the one suggested here: Cannot launch Java Report Panel, please make sure you have installed a Java virtual machine. (the Java Virtual Machine was a link). Restarted again, tried again, same error. On the sun page, I tested my java installation and it works fine. I have checked that java is enabled in both IE and Firefox and I still get this error in either browser. I am using Windows XP.
Upon comparing my computer with my coworker's java configurations, we found that she has a certificate called "Business Objects America" and I don't have that. Could that be the problem, and if so, where can I get that certificate? There was no active X question as I would have expected to see asking to run active X or not. I can't find any certificate downloads on your site at all.
Please advise ASAP because I need to use this Web Intelligence Reporting and I cannot get in.

How to set swing to support using vrml/external/browser ?

When doing applets with AWT to call vrml/external/browser.getbrowser, it works. But if update to use swing instead of awt, applets always cannot say: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: vrml/external/Browser.
The html file containing this applet is converted by command : java HTMLConverter **.html .And also using java1.3.1plug-in.
But if removing java plug-in and add ---ARCHIVE="Swing.jar"---- into **.html source code without using java HTMLConverter. The applet works.
While, this way can let applet work, but thus, the applet cannot connect to mysql database.
So, anyone knows how to set up swing in applet when using converted **.html with javaplugin? ???
