Studying abroad and using a Skype number?

I want to have a skype number for the country I am going to so collegues and friends can contact me without having to pay extra fees. I already have a service so my family and friends can call me from my home country without an issue. Can this be possible using a skype number? Thank you.

No - it's not the case. A Skype Online # is for your contacts to call YOU. (inbound calls). You can't make outbound calls from an Online #. Details here: Online number

no, a Skype Number is linked to a single Skype Name
calls to a Skype Name can, however, be forwarded to as many as three other numbers or Skype Names -- whoever answers first gets the call
incoming Skype calls can only be forwarded once using Skype

Please remember the purpose of a Skype Number is only for people to call you - a Skype Number is a fixed or land line number, and you answer the incoming calls on SKype. You would need a Skype subscription or Buy Skype credit in order to place calls from Skype to fixed or land line numbers and mobile numbers.

No.
Serial numbers are Mac only or Windows only. There is a platform swap process (from Mac to PC etc) but only for CS6.
As a CS5 owner, your choices are to either pay to upgrade to CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud.

If you purchased an upgrade from LR5 to LR6 then after you enter your LR6 serial number, you will need to enter your LR5 serial number, unless LR6 finds LR5 on the computer. This also assumes that you've purchased the perpetual license of both LR5 and LR6, not a cloud license for LR5 which doesn't use a serial number for licensing. If entering a LR6 then LR5 serial number into LR6's serial-number area isn't working, then is there something special about the LR5 that would make it ineligible for an upgrade?

i have tried signing out of imessage and signing back in. (when i do that and am asked to select my email adress, i see my new number but it is greyed out and i cant select it)

Yes it should work transferring PSE10 from Mac to Mac. There is a download link below for PSE10, which your friend could use. There is a formal licence transfer process but it’s not necessary for your friend to register the product (activation is sufficient) although he couldn’t benefit from future upgrade pricing without registration. Serial numbers typically can only be registered one time.
Boxed versions of PSE are normally multi-platform with disks for both Windows and Mac; so the serial number is the same. Downloads have tended to be single platform only although I believe the current version PSE12 will work on both Windows and Mac with the same serial number – boxed or download.

You can try, but the iPhone warranty terms state that Apple "may" restrict warranty/service to country of original purchase...key word here is "may".

I want to get a Skype number. I currently use Skype on my desktop and laptop computers. I will add the Skype Android app to my mobile phone. When I buy the Skype number, can I use it on all 3 devices or do I need a separate number for each device? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. This is what I suspected, but needed confirmation.
An extension to this question, then, is do all devices (desktop, laptop, mobile phone) all ring simultaneously when a call is received?
I suspect that it does and I can answer on any of the devices, but I want to be sure.
I am really new to this, but in light of near future travel plans, Skype will solve numerous communications issues on several levels.

Yes, you can use a US Skype Number while you're out of the country.
Even if you're overseas your friends and relatives can call your US Skype Number at local rates. When they want to call you, simply sign in to Skype and answer the call when it rings – and you pay nothing to answer the call.

Yes, you may choose the country you wish to take out a Skype Number subscription from the drop-down list. While many locations are available, please remember that Skype Numbers are not available for every state and area code. If you require a USA-based Skype Number, choose a number nearest to those who would use it to contact you so they incur no or minimal toll charges.
Please also remember that Skype does not support toll-free or "shared cost" numbers.

Im in Australia and will be travelling overseas soon. Can i buy a Skype number with an Australian area code and use that in another country, e.g. Thailand.
More importantly, wouldn't this mean that my friends calling me from Australia would only be calling me on local rates, since I am essentially tricking the system by pretending I am in Australia.
The following however suggests such a trick may not be possible : "Note that before you can set up a Skype Number for certain countries, you need to provide proof of residence." (although since I am in Australia at the moment and a resident, it shuldnt be a problem for me).
Just seems to good to be true.

otherwise Skype Numbers work as you have outlined -- you get an Australian number that the expected callers will ideally call at local rates, and your signed in Skype client magically rings wherever in the world you are physically located
buy a calling subscription before buying your Skype Number and you qualify for up to a 50% discount on your Skype Number (depending on the subscription length that you choose)
