STUMMPED W/ A SUP32 ------ help!
I recently tried to upgrade a Sup32 (6500 chassis) from CatOS to IOS. I'm a Cisco rookie (still green, fresh out of college), and I ran into some issues. The IOS image that I copied to the bootdisk is 50MEGS. The image also ended up being corrupt (I'm not in front of it right now, but i know I got several error when I punched in "BOOT bootdisk: s3223-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.sxf8.bin". I get a 0x0 error with a "bad magic number" (im not in front of the sup and i dont quite remember the exact error). So here's the story, I believe the image is corrupt and I want to recopy it. Sounds easy enough right? Wrong. I am stick in rommon mode where i have full XMODEM transfer capability, but NO WAY (that i know of) to squeeze the bootdisk (flash), to make room for the new massive image. The Sup32 only has 64MB (?) onboard flash. I tried to use disk0 (flash card) but i am getting errors that the device in unknown (when punching in a dir disk0:). If anyone can help me it would be GREATLY appreciated. Now in rommon, i also hit the confreg command and played with all the settings. Now my SET values are all outta wack. Is there anyway to restore to factory settings or can someone tell me the default SET (rommon command) setting so I can just paste them in and call it a day? I may be doing something wrong, so ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
-Hungry Mind
Sup32's have 256MB of bootflash not 64. I would suggest copying over a different version of IOS to the switch and in rommon mode boot to sup-bootflash:. Then you can delete the corrupt version, recopy it and change the boot variable back to the IOS you copied over (or just delete the temp IOS you loaded to get the switch booted).
Another way is to copy the IOS from a currently running sup32 (if you have one) to a flash card and boot off of disk0.

Help needed with Boot times and performance.
Hi everyone, after two weeks of getting nowhere i gave up and here i am. I have an S10-3 which i am struggling with. As the post title indicates perfomance is (how can i put it) slow. We are talking 15/20 minutes to boot and when i finaly get to Windows its pretty much unusable. Ended up corrupting the recovery partition with my (lets say limited experiance) and have so far proceede to try and install Win XP/Vista/7 with all the same problems unable to install/slow/slow. I think what i am looking for is some pointers on wiping the HDD clean (completely) and some info on how to get a running install of pretty much any Windows that perfoms in a manner that allows me to acctually do something productive. On a plus point i did install an extra Gig of RAM allthough this made very little difference. Thanks in advance for any help offered as i am completley stummped.
If you intend to clean up completely you can use the secure data disposal tool from Lenovo
http://www.pc.ibm.com/europe/think/en/datadisposal.html?europe&cc=europe
Do you have a windows installation media with you?

Sup32 IP Base software routing support
According to the release notes for 12.2(SXF) the Sup32 IP BASE software release only supports RIP, static routes and EIGRP stub routing. IP Services image supports OSPF, BGP and EIGRP. However when actually loading an IP Base image onto a switch I was able to configure EIGRP and OSPF on the Sup32 without issue. Is this an error in the release notes for Sup32 IP Base or a mistake in the IOS image that will be corrected down the line?
David,
The release notes for the SUP32 is correct.
I ran OSPF Feature through Feature Navigator and it lists OSPF as one of the features supported in "IP Base" for SUP32 and this is incorrect. Looks like the Feature Navigator has to be fixed.
OSPF is officially supported in IP Services and not in IP Base. In case if you run into any issues in a live environment after configuring OSPF using IP Base Image, its going to be challenging trying to convice the TAC or Development Team to troubleshoot the issue, since its not officially supported.
Please get in touch with your sales team and discuss this topic in detail. Eventhough there is a cost associated with going from IP Base to IP Services, I would rather take care of this issue sooner than later.
I hope it helps.

does sup32 on 7600 router support mpls over gre, my uplinks
to the core are connected via sup32?Hello Atif,
in the following link the datasheet of sup32
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps2797/ps5972/product_data_sheet0900aecd801c5cab_ps368_Products_Data_Sheet.html
table1 contains the following:
Hardware-enabled MPLS-Enables use of VPNs and Layer 2 tunneling while improving traffic engineering for QoS and adding multiprotocol support
• Hardware-enabled IPv6-Expands available IP addresses, enabling better address allocation and address aggregation and supporting greater end-to-end connectivity and services
• Hardware-enabled GRE tunnels for IP traffic
be aware that performances are limited in comparison to sup720 as it is shown in table2.
Hope to help

WS-C6509 CatOS 7.6(12) Sup1a, Upgrade Help ?
Can you help,
I have 6509's configured with Sup1a, running CatOS 7 with the following cards,
WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE WS-F6K-PFC
WS-X6408A-GBIC
WS-X6348-RJ-45
WS-SVC-NAM-1
I am a little confused which Supervisor and MSFC to upgrade to (we want to add VLAN routing functionality)
Do I go with the WS-X6K-S2-MSFC2 or is that going to be end of sale soon ?
The document on Cisco's site listed below seems to recommend that I go to the WS-SUP32-GE-3B ?
http://www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/products/ps708/c1031/cdccont_0900aecd803590fc.pdf
Thanks for any advice!Ok thanks for your help Shanky,
Do you see what I'm getting at here. I have to make a
recommendation to my boss, if the Sup2 MSFC2 route is going to be EOS EOL next, then should I be looking at skipping that and going to either the Sup32 or the Sup720 ?
Seems like I should be choosing between the 720 or 32.
The sup32 seems to be less powerfull than the sup2 with msfc2 though. I can't really place it. It seems like it's for the edge. These 6509's are core switches and will be core routers when we upgrade. -

The organization of this site is simple enough:
uplink (Vlan24, 2GB EtherChannel) and about 3500 SVI with IP Unnimbered feature and static routes with 32 bit mask for customers, for example:
interface Vlan101
ip unnumbered Loopback0
ip access-group 110 in

etc...
Default route is obtained by the EIGRP
The essence of my question: How can I determine the reason the traffic hits the CPU?
I would be grateful for any ideas, ready to provide any diagnostic data.
Thanks for your help.

Also, on a side note, I could not help noticing that you are running 6.1(1b). You might want to go latest 6.4(x) which is general deployment to get various security vulnerability, diagnostic enhancement and other bug fixes.

Loopguard and dual sup32 problem
Hi I'm having a problem with loopguard.
The topology is as follows.
Two 6500 Sup720 IOS core switches connected together via a trunk with two vlans - VLAN 300 a routed interlink and VLAN99 is layer two for management of access switches.
Multiple 6500 Sup32 CatOS access switches each connect via two uplinks, one to each core. Each access switch has 3 VLAN's - 2 User VLAN's that terminate on L3 interfaces on each core (ie No STP loop). And one management VLAN99.
Loopguard is configured on all uplink and interlink interfaces on the access and core.
This topology works fine, if I fail the primary uplink, cutover is nice and quick.
However the wierd thing is that if I install a second Sup32 at the access and move the second uplink onto the second Sup32 - If I now fail the primary uplink failover is around 30 secs, it looks as if the loopguard is blocking the port at the core. If I turn loopgaurd off on the uplinks to access switches with dual sup32's failover recovery is fine again.
Any ideas please, perhaps loopguard is not relevant in this topology?Les,
Loopguard can only be triggered on ports that receive BPDUs (as you mentioned, alternate and root ports). So it will definitely apply here, even for vlans on which there is no physical loop. You are right about point 2, however, you are probably wrong on point 1. The user vlans are not carried between the cores, so the access bridge is probably designated on its uplink to the second core. There is in theory no problem applying loopguard everywhere, but as there is no physical loop for your user vlans, there is no need for loopguard on the core-access links. If you absolutely want to enable loopguard on these links, in your particular scenario, it may be better to configure the access switches as the root for their respective user vlans (even if it seems unconventional;-))
You said that you are afraid that loopguard blocks the channel between the two cores. I agree that it would be a catastrophic event, however, that's probably what you want. Loopguard is supposed to help preventing uni directional link failure from opening a bridging loop. It would only be triggered on the secondary core switch (assuming that the primary core is root for vlan 99) and only to prevent a more catastrophic failure. Also, loopguard is applied on a per-vlan basis, not per interface, so its trigger on the channel could only affect vlan 99.
Loopguard assumes that a designated port will start sending inferior BPDUs should it loses its designated role as a result of a reconfiguration. If a designated port suddently stops sending superior BPDUs without sending inferior BPDUs, there is a link issue. This assumption is not true on a shared segment, where a designated port can become root or alternate as a result of receiving superior information from a third bridge (and thus become silent immediately). That's why loopguard is a point to point feature. The IEEE introduced recently a new feature much better than loopguard (the dispute mechanism) but it's only available in the latest MST implentation so far (will be extend to rapid-pvst soon).
Hope this helps!

Help, Running out of policers on 6500
I know the dread qos on a 6500 with IOS issue, it's a pain to us all and I need help my friends. Just upgraded a customer site to Sup32's and going to IPT, implemeted first closets and next morning awoke to emails of :
%QM-4-AGG_POL_EXCEEDED: QoS Hardware Resources Exceeded : Out of Aggregate policers
Customer is asking about switching to per vlan vs. per port and I honestly dont see a great definition of the difference, is it just the pool of resources ? can someone explain ?? Also I was told by another architect in response to this that the per vlan would not help, but to make it microflow policing vs. aggregate policing ? In researching that all I could find is that going that route shows that there are far LESS resources available for policing per flow, than aggregate ?? Anyone familiar ?? Running 12.2(33)SXH6 on Sup32's and each day seems to be a new hurdle when it comes to QoS on these puppies. I think we have 1GB of memory in these at the access layer.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance,

case 0: g.drawLine(randomX(), randomY(), randomX(), randomY());
break;
case 1: g.drawRect(randomX(), randomY(), randomX(), randomY());
break;
case 2: g.drawOval(randomX(), randomY(), randomX(), randomY());
break;
public void setCurrentChoice(int c){
currentChoice=c;
repaint();
private int randomX(){
return (int) (Math.random()*width);
private int randomY(){
return (int) (Math.random()*height);
}//end class drawPanel
That one's from a book. I used that code to start with my applet. Mine calls different merthod from the switch cases. Say I have:
case 0: drawStart(g); break;
public void drawStart(Graphics g){
/* something here */
drawMain(g);
public void drawMain(graphics g){
g.drawString("test", x, y);
//here's where i'm trying to pause
//i've tried placing Thread.sleep between these lines
g.drawLine(x, y, a, b);
//Thread.sleep here
g.drawRect(x, y, 50, 70);
}I also need to put delays between method calls but I need to synchronize them. Am I doing it all wrong? The application pauses or sleeps but afterwards, it still drew everything all at once. Thanks a lot!It is. Sorry about that. Just answer any if you want to. I'd appreciate your help. Sorry again if it caused you anything or whatever. .n_n.

Table1:
ou store point
LS LIB1 50
LS LIB1 200
LS LIB1 100
LS LIB1 79
I have to insert table1 to table2 by splitting into every 143point and assing serial number for every 143 from parameter.
in aboce example we can split 3 time 143 like below table2 sample.
Table2
ou store point serial_number
LS LIB1 50 101
LS LIB1 93 101
LS LIB1 107 102
LS LIB1 36 102
LS LIB1 64 103
LS LIB1 79 103
i tried below procedure its not working.
table may have any order like below.
Table1:
ou store point
LS LIB1 200
LS LIB1 50
LS LIB1 100
LS LIB1 79
then table2
ou store point serial_number
LS LIB1 143 101
LS LIB1 57 102
LS LIB1 50 102
LS LIB1 36 102
LS LIB1 64 103
LS LIB1 79 103
create or replace procedure assign_serial(from_num number,to_num number) is
bal number(10);
begin
bal := 0;
for c1 in(select * from table1)
loop
if c1.point <=143 then
if bal=0 then
bal=143-used;
insert int0 table2 values(c1.ou,c1.store,used);
elsif used > 0 then
used=used-bal;
insert int0 table2 values(c1.ou,c1.store,bal);
bal=0;
if used > 0 then
insert int0 table2 values(c1.ou,c1.store,used);
end if;
bal:=143-used;
end if;
end loop;
end;
How to split and assign serial number,please hELP..after giving serial num i have to change points in table1 to 0.The problem for SUm and split for every 143 is ,different OU and store is there.we have to know for which store points we earned serial number.
i hope this below logic little satisfy except assign cardnum,please........ check and currect the logic
LS LIB1 50
LS LIB1 200
LS LIB1 100
LS LIB1 79
--variable used and bal
for c1 in(select * from table1)
loop
used := c1.points;
if c1.point <=143 then
if bal=0 then
bal=143-used;
insert int0 table2 values(c1.ou,c1.store,used);
elsif used > 0 then
used=used-bal;
insert int0 table2 values(c1.ou,c1.store,bal);
bal=0;
if used > 0 then
insert int0 table2 values(c1.ou,c1.store,used);
end if;
bal:=143-used;
end if;
end loop; -
Help my safari doesnt open and gives me a crash report
help my safari doesn't open and gives me a crash report ever since i downloaded a file from the internet. I have a macbook air (early 2014) with running os x yosemite version 10.10.1
There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.
