Stumped on N900

I charged my N900 until the pulsating yellow indicator LED turned to a steady green on. Upon unplugging the charger from the phone, the steady green turned to a slowly pulsating white. When I pushed the power button to boot the phone, it would not respond....no matter how many time or how long I held the power button down. I figure maybe I missed something in the instructions, but couldn't find anything to describe that issue. Finally had to remove the battery and re-install it to get the phone to come back from it's zombie like trance ! What did I miss and what the heck was THAT all about?? Thanks for any assist - N900 Rookie !!

im assuming your phone was off when you had it charging? and then the screen was dark but lit up at the same time during the charge/after the charge (hard to describe but you probably know what i mean).
when you unplug the cable, or turn off the device, wait about ten to fifteen seconds before trying to turn it on.

remember your looking at one months work by a single developer, its obviously nowhere near a finished or usable state, but the potential for alternative UI's is promising and this concept UI looks awesome.

Can't capture vid - Canon XL cam FW 400 to FW 800 HD - Apple gurus stumped

Am I REALLY the ONLY person out there using a Canon XL 1 and/or 2, an external hard drive with firewire 800 ports and a G5 and/or Mac Book Pro and working with FCP?!!!!
I made a special trip from Flagstaff AZ to the Apple Store at the Biltmore in PHX, just to stump the Apple genuises with this problem. They asked that I post this on the Apple site's discussion forum.
The verdict was: There seems to be a problem capturing video in FCP ("Unable to initialize video deck" and FCP freezes up) when going from the Canon, via firewire 400 4 pin to 6 pin and saving to an external hard drive via firewire 800. The 400 cable is good, as it captures fine to a drive using a 400 cable. It's just the 400 port on newer, 800 capable hard drives, is limited to one. We tried all different ways of configuring, going from camera to HD thru the Mac, and going from camera directly into the external HD, plugging into the 400 port, and then into the Mac from the HD thru the 800 ports.
The only thing that we didn't try, because it's a rare cable (the Apple store hasn't carried one in over three months), is a 4 pin to 9 pin FW 800 cable.
What am I doing in real life to still keep making money? I capture to my old external HD that has 2 FW 400 ports, then dump the footage to my new HDs with FW 800 ports to work on the project. Time consuming.
Again, all versions of FCP and QuickTime software are up to date. We also used one of their G5s. Also, the problem occurs with both my LaCie Rugged HD and my Western Digital My Book, both purchased from the Apple store. The guru at the store kept referring to a bridge issue???

Here's my standard "so you are using a Canon camcorder to capture and it isn't working" routine:
Not all Canon cameras have connection issues, but hanging around this site I've come to recognize their ability to connect in FCP is the most problematic of all the camera brands. If you have a Canon camcorder, and can not get it to connect up with FCP, the following is a way to sort through the issues and get it to work. Some are elegant - some are ugly.
Before we go any farther
-you should be using 'Firewire Basic' as the control protocol. If you aren't, go change it and try again.
-Also, verify that you have a solid installation of Quicktime. You may want to reinstall it using the 'delete receipts' method. Here's how:
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
Run the Quicktime installer.
Reboot
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
With some confidence that the software installation and camera settings are correct and it still won't capture correctly, you are most likely a victim of the dread 'Canon firewire bus incompatibility problem'. Simply stated: Canon cameras do not play well with other devices on the same firewire bus. And, since all the firewire ports on a Mac connect to one bus - well - you get the picture.
The most direct solution is to purchase another, non-Canon device to use as your capturing machine. The Sony DSR-11 is highly recommended for DV work. Since you have one and it isn't working, perhaps you have a more fundamental problem. Beyond replacing your tape playback device, the path you take depends on the model of computer you own.
1. If you have a G5 tower or a MacPro, capture to a second internal drive with only the camera attached. If you need to move material to firewire drive, disconnect the camera. A second internal drive is quite inexpensive these days if you do not already have one.
2. If you have a G5 tower (PCI) MacPro (PCI), G4 powerbook (PCMCIA) or MacBookPro (Expresscard 34) with an available slot, purchase the appropriate firewire card for the slot. Connect your camera to the card and you should be good to go. The new card creates a unique bus and will avoid collisions with the external drives.
3. If you do not have a slot or a second internal drive and you are stuck with the camera, welcome to the camera/drive shuffle.
- shut down and remove the external hard drive(s) from the system
- connect the camera directly to the firewire port of the computer
- start the camera then the computer
- capture to your internal (system) hard drive
- shut down the camera and computer
- disconnect the camera and reconnect the external hard drive(s)
- start hard drive(s) and computer
- move captured files to external hard drive(s)
- edit
If you output back to tape or wish to view your work on an external Video (NTSC or PAL) monitor, you need to set up the camera to use the firewire out as the A/DV converter or VTR - which means reversing the steps:
- copy the file back to the internal drive
- shut everything down
- disconnect the external drive(s)
- connect the camera to the firewire port (and the TV to the camera if needed)
- start the camera then the computer
- play the file.
One caveat here - You may have difficulty getting the file back to tape without dropping frames. Playing files off of the system drive is very demanding and they may have a hard time keeping up.
All in all, if you do not have the option for second bus (i.e. iMacs, eMacs, iBooks, MacBooks) you may want to think about a computer with expandable options next time.
There is the option of capturing using iMovie, but that brings on it's own set of problems and is not recommended.

Urgent help needed, can I restore N900 Backup file...

i owned a N900 (now sold out)
before selling i took backup of contacts from backup restore option in application section
now i bought a N8 but i m not able to restore my contacts
1. is there any way to restore them in N8?
2. if not, can i convert them in TEXT or any readable format
urgent help needed

The backup procedures built into the phone are only designed for restoring to the same phone (ie: in case or data corruption, software update or repair etc.), they can't usually be used to restore to a phone with a different operating system.
You should have backed up with Ovi Suite before selling the N900, that would have been able to restore to the N8.

The Future Of The N900?

Hello,
It was hard enough for me to fathom out what was going on in favor of the N900 before I heard about the Microsoft announcement.
It seems Nokia have got bigger concerns for the future of themselves than to be concerned about a past product?
As a layman it seems the N900 is good phone but will be ultimately be limited by it's processor. I assume like computers this will increase unless there are limitations.
BUT, it does seem that all these names I've heard of since owning a N900 - Maemo, Meego, Moblin, Intel, Qt, Ovi Beta do not represent a part of the future in the grand scheme of things for Nokia. I can understand that if Microsoft is necessary for survival.
I have no experience of Ipod / HTC Andriod but it does seem these have stolen the march whilst Nokia have been floundering. I really don't know if I move away from the Nokia N900 if I would be pleasantly surprised or wish for it back.
In the meantime if the N900 has a future interesting or otherwise it would be good to know as upgrade is round the corner and unless the competition are not to be missed, I am happy to stick with the N900 as it does the business for me.
The thing is I shouldn't need to be thinking like this but it is not obvious to me where the Nokia successor to it is.
I am very open to responses to my thoughts, which may need correcting. I might not even be on the right track, but it's funny how I am the only person in my group of friends with a Nokia, never mind a N900.
I would also like to mention that cpitchford has helped me in the past and I consider him to be the man in the know by far. I was gutted to read a recent post how he felt let down.
I favor quality brand loyalty but this seems to questionable these days.

even after losing my 1st nokia n900, i cud not digest any other phone as similar and doing-business for me.
hence to asnwer all easy options i bought again my 2nd n900.
Certainly there is no match to its convinence, leave apart its processor.
I am also amongst those who r eagerly waiting for new version, but the possibility seems to b diminishing .
hope nokia will revive this exclusive-not-for masses-smartphone!!!

Its great to know that We got Nokia N900 in India now.
Many of people searching for custom ringtone for their contacts. I have installed app for it and worked great, here is the screen of how to do it.
1-goto app manager and download Ringtino app ( name specified in attached screen )
2-goto contact and click on title not edit contact, u will get " custom Ringtone " as like my screen.

The n900 can't die, it can do everything

Well alots of you guys lost hope in the n900, after everyone said that nokia "killed" it, really ??? look where the device is now,
you can get android 2.2 via nitdroid, you can overclock to 1 ghz in a push of a button, you can have up to 9 homescreens with desktop+,you can watch most of the flash 10 animations and videos on the web using 'tweak flash version', you can remotly control your pc via vnc viewer
, you can have remote xp !! via rdesktop, you can jailbreak your ps3 using your n900, you can run like 6 OSs on the same device (froyo, windows98, mac os, ubunto, eclair, donut, debian...),you can have extreme speed with the custom transitions in the blac plastic theme, you can do voice guided navigation with modtana,you can control your tv with irreco, .... and this is only a strat or an introduction to what can device really do,
the n900 is like 2pac, they killed him too soon, but we all listen to the 2pac rap, now after 16 years of his death,, most of the people still thinks that he's the best rapper ever, so is the n900, best smartphone/computer/tablet/thingy ever .

I wouldn't go as far as to say the best phone ever made..... not now. 6 months ago, maybe.
A lot of manufacturers have taken some of it's best features and only slightly improved on them. The screen for instance.... The iPhone 4 screen is actually only another 32 pixels per inch more than the N900, and others are still trying to beat the resolution but ending up with devices that could double up as surf-boards.
The web browsing, despite Flash 10.1.xx is still very cumbersome on some of the rival models, simply because at this moment in time Flash 10.1.xx is so buggy and troublesome as a plugin, I'm certainly not in a hurry to get it on my N900.
I'd say the N900 broke the mould, just like the Commodore Amiga did in the 80's. Anyone remember that one? It was the machine that started the high end graphics and 3D video editing race, it also invented the multimedia race. People in their thousands sold their PCs to buy the Amiga, because they got fed up of playing Falcon on a 4 colour display. In reality it "kickstarted" the home computer market.
As for the N900, I'll remember it as I remember the Amiga. The N900 has proved that Nokia can make a mobile computer, and in that respects it will be the device to compare other mobile computers. It's opened up the full web experience for handsets and it's driven the final nail into the coffin of the antiquated WAP service, thus dragging the networks screaming and kicking into the 21st Century. Some of them are putting up a fight with restrictions and blocks, but the more handsets we see with full web capabilities, the more they are backing into a corner.
The Commodore Amiga, and indeed the CD32 (the grand-daddy of the console market) have pride of place in the Science Museum because of their cult status. I think the N900 should join them for the same reasons.

I found if you "move" the messages you want to the "Trash" they will go there... then you can "delete" them or keep them as they will remain on the web that way...

Status update for MeeGo on the N900

Here's a copy of the text sent by Harri Hakulinen from Nokia. He is the project lead for MeeGo on the N900. This message was sent to the MeeGo developer mailing list just now:
Hello MeeGos !
This is brief status update of "MeeGo to N900" project. This project is currently running as Nokia project, and I am Nokia project lead for it. The current closed mode of development is not the target for us at all, but rather transitional condition. As already discussed by Valtteri in TSG meeting, we are looking into going more open mode shortly. One reason why we have done this on this way is that at the same time we have been trying to handle opening of many currenly closed components that are needed in MeeGo and to build feasible MeeGo images for N900.
However, a lot of related work is already done completely open, you can find more info from places like ofono.org, connman.net and meego.gitorious.org . So if you are eager to contribute or want to closely follow whats happening, please work on those.
As you know, we have delivered working MeeGo images for N900 as part of first code drop in the end of March. At that state we were using older kernel version on N900 than on Atom side, as we used the same kernel (.28) than what is used in Maemo 5 based products today. We ended up doing that simply because lack of time to contribute and port all the drivers to the newer kernels.
Now, for the upcoming May release of MeeGo, we are going to use the same kernel version (.33) than Atom based devices are using. For that we need to submit number of ARM-architecture patches to MeeGo as well, because many of the required ones have just been contibuted upstream kernel and were not available in .33 version originally.
We have already enabled most of the main drivers, like LCD, GFX, Wlan and BT. Still, there is a lot to do in order to enable .33 on N900, like audio drivers, and modem subsystem including SSI buss driver, modem data and audio drivers etc. Our adaptation guys are in fact contributing those modem subsystem related drivers as we speak, and if you are following kernel mailing lists you can see how that goes on.
Besides of enabling the new kernel, we are working with number of smaller and bigger issues for N900. Starting from the beginning, we are now based on ARMv7 combiled code, so the code should be better optimised for N900 now. ARMv5 compilation that was in use for code drop will still be there, and it also seems to be used at least by community project that is planning to release MeeGo for good old N810 tablets
Also, we are planning to enable dual booting of Maemo 5 and MeeGo for the upcoming release. So that will be offered as 3rd way to setup MeeGo to N900, including the existing "native" MeeGo only on N900 and chroot based MeeGo on Maemo 5 setups. Taking the dual boot mode into use likely includes upgrade to Maemo5 kernel as well, but that should not be big issue in the process of enabling that.
As I don't want to go ahead of others working on MeeGo architecture and other issues I will stop now, but I will report again when we have more to tell about the subject.

It seems that MeeGo on the N900 is not directly being driven by Nokia! It's an open project.. so the net result is MeeGo on the N900 may look and feel very different to Meego on the N900's sucessor
Either way, I'm certainly greatful for their efforts!

First, to make it absolute clear for everybody: This is about open MeeGo adaptation to N900 device.
Like any other MeeGo project, it is open source project for all applicaple purposes, and does NOT directly have links to any potential Nokia product or potential product plans. So, based on this or any other of my posts, please do NOT start or continue speculation of upcoming Nokia MeeGo releases. That is practically not helpfull, and mostly only takes our time when we need to explain our words and actions in detail to various directions.
From our part, we are trying to implement the open development model that has been discussed now so many times around MeeGo. On practical terms, we are trying to work based on proposal by Carsten Munk, see

MeeGo on the n900?

With Intel and Nokia working together on a new Mobile OS, where does this put Maemo updates for the n900 in the future? It will start to come out in Q2 2010, so will it work on the n900 as it stands?

Slowly ramped down? I think you're under estimating Nokias ability to drop a current device like a hot potato!! It'll disappear over night!!
From the looks of things Meego is a fairly different beast to Maemo.. I expect some serious differences.. the package system is RPM (which I detest with a passion) as opposed to Maemo5's "deb" format.. so not only will the contents of packages be incompatible, you wouldn't be able to install them anyhow!
Of all the little side projects I have bubbling away (I'm doing some funky Maemo5 development on the train to and from work at the moment) I'm already anticipating dropping Maemo5 for Meego/whatever when the SDK is out.. I doubt we're going to see another Maemo5 handset, so honestly, what's the point of developing for it!!
The N900 is funky toy, and packages will be available for some time yet.. but it's not going to reach a saturation point.. not many developers will be "oooh.. should we support Maemo5 and Maemo6" when the next device comes out, especially when they might already be asking "should we support android, iphone, winmo 7 and maybe even S60/Symbian^3?" two Maemo platforms is just not healthy for anyone..
You could try selling it, but who'd buy something that might be end of life in 3 months.. or you could spend the time enjoying it and its quirkyness until the Nnextdevice appears and upgrade to that!
That's what I'll be doing (why do I keep giving Nokia money?!)
Who knows, maybe another manufacturer might make a Meego device that trumps the next Nokia device.. If Meego isn't Nokia only, other people might be making bigger better shiner devices (ones whose USB ports aren't held in place with luck)
Granted you might loose all the fabulous PC software Nokia provide by jumping ship... wait.. wait a minute.. none of their PC software works with the N900 anyway!!!
Still, it'll be interesting to see what happens!! I knew the N900 was a stepping stone so I'm really not fussed.. but at the same time, I can appreciate others might be seriously upset..
I bought an N97 with its pittyful internal flash storage.. less than 6 months later, the N97mini came out with double the capacity making the N97, for the first time, usable!! was a irritated.. very.. was I surprised.. not at all.. c'mon, it's NOKIA!!! It's what they do!!
Maybe intel will drag them kicking and screaming into some sort of order!! That'd be neat!

How to save the n900

yes nokia is making a big mistake killing the n900, come on, its not only the best device by Nokia, its one of the best devices ever, so i don't any idea why nokia is planning to kill the maemo 5, and leave all the n900 users with 10 apps from the ovi store, so i was doing some thinking and here is what you have to do nokia, first of all you will need to do something to win you some money and sell even more n900sbefore you revive it, so here is my idea, launch new n900s with different colors, lets say white, gray, the n97 mini colors, even a 2 tone colors would be nice, than start reviving the device, its not cool living a high resolution, 3d accelerator phone with that small number of apps, i'm not saying we want the meego on the device, but you guys should start working on putting the games we've seen in the ovi store( that rollecostar game...), and than we want that flash 10.1 on the device, and java would be nice, (go to www.mobile9.com and the n900s section is full of apps, but they r all java), and how about a decent section in the ovi store for the n900, its an open source ! the android is an open source, and it has 10000 times more apps than the n900, so yes more games and apps please, and i have a nice idea two, how about a n-gage section for the n900, for more games and apps, i mean if you guys started launching more apps and games on this great device, it won't heart, because first of all all these games will be supported on meego, so you will be saving some time, and second of all i'm not saying all the apps and games we want are going to be free, the n900 is a great device, the maemo5 is awesome, and the interface is amazing, and i will like to see that the ovi store now has google maps for the n900, nimbuzz for the n900, fifa 10, need for speed shift, asphalte, flash player 10.1 beta, fring, rollercoster, document editor, twitter, facebook for n900( a good one with chat and all that like on the iphone), opera mobile 10, a call recorder, snaptu, a clock widget, ea mobile games, .......... i bet nokia will make a lots of money out of the ovi store if they did this, and they will sell tons of n900s. so please nokia try doing something for this wonderful device.

1. nokia dont make most of the ovi store apps. those apps are made by third parties and are then scrutinised by nokia before they hit the ovi store.
2. n900 is pretty much entirely open source. if you want open source apps, go to the apps manager and download section.
3. n gage games arent really that great.
4. facebook... just use the actual page, you can do everything you can do on a pc.
5. there are call recorders and clock widgets in the apps manager sections. abi word is in the extras devel (or the other section)
6. and half of those apps youve mentioned would need to be created by their respective companies, or a company that has the licence to redistribute them, like gameloft. last time i checked, nokia doesnt own fifa, of need for speed, so they technically dont have the rights to it.
and flash 10.1b is extremely buggy, especially with hardware acceleration enabled. perhaps it will be ported once they fix the bugs.

*My* opinion of the N900
I know there are a few threads about that address this but I felt that it wouldn't be so bad to restart the conversation once in a while.
I got my N900 a week and a half ago and am right in the middle of deciding between these 3 choices:
- keep using the N900
- go back to my N97 and keep the N900 in the hope that within a few weeks/months Maemo and apps will vindicate us
- go back to the N97 and send the N900 back and wait for months until Maemo gets updated or even wait for the next Maemo device.
Here is in summary my opinion of the N900: it's a great device/computer but it's a lousy phone. I am kind of critical of the phone below even though I really like it and really want to use it more. So please read with that in mind.
What makes me optimistic is that all the problems I will be mentioning can and most will be fixed by software updates. We are not talking about dismal memory or scratched lenses like the N97 or wobbly sliders like the N95.
So please be kind, here goes my N900 impressions/opinions:

- Solid build. It's huge and heavy but, surprisingly, I don't mind too much. It strikingly contrasts with N97. this is a taste thing.

- I really like the tilt flip of N97 and as such currently dislike the flat slide for N900. I'm sure this is an acquired taste.
- I prefer the keyboard layout of N97 though the physical keyboard on N900 is better.
- Kickstand is flimsy
- I still think MicroSD slot should be accessible without removing battery cover. Yes, it still allows for hotswapping so that's still good.
Maemo

- Multitasking is great.
- Task List shortcut *and* effects are nice.
- Effects in general are great.
- I liked the desktops and widgets.
- I *do* want my portrait mode for everything. This is a huge downer. Everything is in ladscape except the phone dialer.
- Maemo should implement the "hold-the-key-to-get-the-alternate-character" keyboard scheme that is fairly standard on other Nokia phones.
- On the virtual keyboard, why would the '.' not be on the same slate as the alpha? Makes no sense to have to switch to the other slate just to punctuate.
Communications

- I did not think Skype integration would be that important but I love it. SIP and other networks from the dialer as well.
- I goes and gets your contacts' profile info when you are logged in to a network (Skype, Google Talk, etc) Pretty handy.
- eMail app does HTML. And pretty well too.
- Need a way to easily get to the phone app from anywhere.
- No support for network codes *#num# etc...
- No Speed dialing
- No sound profiles! My Nokia 6310 and SE T39 from 2001 did this! **bleep**?
- No Skype video calling (Fring does it!)
- eMail app should allow me to view emails in fullscreen mode.
- The whole message notification system is not very well thought out. If I leave for some time and just unlock the phone, there is not obvious way to tell that I got any new messages. It's only when I do a task list flick that I see that a conversation has resumed. Yes, the notification light flashes but nothing obvious is on the display.
- There is no obvious notification that I have missed calls. Same as message notification above.
- It seems to me that the internet connection is never disconnected. Even when all I have that needs the connection is the email app to poll every 30 minutes, the internet (whether 3G or Wifi) icon never goes away. This could be a huge battery saver if optimized.
- On the flip side, it also appears that if I just turn on the phone, it does not automatically initiate internet connections so then my email does not get refreshed unlees I remember to do it first by hand. Pretty inconvenient if you ask me.

- GPS lock is much faster than other phones I've used. This is great in conjunction with Camera for geotagging purposes.
- I don't know what the Maps application is doing on there. It can't do anything. Search finds almost nothing, directions are barely average and no turn-by-turn. Please at least steal or beg Google to make Google Maps for Maemo.
Camera

- Pretty decent. Better than N97 in my opinion.
- Geotagging is much faster than N97 even though it seems to tag too early so sometimes it's off because it uses the cellular info before a full GPS lock.
- Love the 16:9 mode. I realize one can do it post in Gimp but it's still cool.
- No Xenon flash means photos not as good as N82 in the dark.
- Once again, same problem as with N82, when taking a portrait photo, Nokia decided to put lanyard slot on "top" of the device which makes the lanyard sometime get in the way of the shot.
- Photo browser could be so much more.

- Pretty basic so close to useless.

- I think a device of this caliber/price/power should just have office applications built-in. I don't care if it's DataViz or OpenOffice or AbiWord/Gnumeric but it's bunk that we only get a trial of Documents-to-Go. Anyone know if OpenOffice or AbiWord is coming out for Maemo soon?

- This has been talked about everywhere and opinions/mileage vary but for me battery life has been dismal. As a test, I charged it up before going to bed: 9pm and by 7am it said it was half empty. All I had running was my mail checking every 30min and all my "identities" were inactive. No Wifi usage just 3G. It dies by 11am. This was after a week of cycling so that battery had a chance to be normalized.
- Wifi also killed the battery even if it was not connected all the time. This is a known bug so it should be fixed soon.
- For a > USD500 device, it's stupid that I don't get a full User Guide in the box.
- Why do they insist on Ovi store. It's **bleep** for Symbian phones, it'll be **bleep** for Maemo.
As I said, some of these are already on the Maemo bugs database, some are widely known issues and some are just personal preferences that may or may never be remedied.
I hope it helps people who are thinking about getting the device and I am hoping that the feedback I get here will help me decide whether to return mine or not.

So it appears that almost none of the firmware fixable items were addressed in Maemo 5/PR1.1. Out of the 23 issues I had that could be fixed via firmware (10 were either hardware or other issues that were not), only the #6 got a partial (and unofficial?) change: you can now browse the web in portrait mode by keying in ctrl+alt+o on the keyboard. Still waiting for another update I guess. I really do miss the phone, it just did not make sense to own and tie up that much money in a device I will not use as my primary phone. although the < USD450 price at Dell is very very tempting ;-)

How to sync the N900 calendars with the computer?

Good evening everyone,
I am a user of the N900 since February 2010 and it's my favorite phone of all the phones that i ever had. I really enjoy every second when i use it
However, I have a "little" trouble now.
The touchscreen doesn't respond normally anymore. When I touch it there's no reaction. The Calendar app or the Settings for example don't open. When I touch in the middle for example something completely different opens: desktop configuration. When I slide from one desktop to the other it stops in the middle and goes back to the previous one instead of moving to the next one. Or sometimes there's no response at all and I have to restart the phone, although it doesn't improve anything. I don't know how this happened because the other night I could normally use it, I set an alarm clock. And in the morning I couldn't turn this alarm off because the screen broke down during the night lol :/ what can be done to make the screen work again? Can I do something myself at home or do I have to take it for repair?
So now I want to make on the laptop a backup of all the data I have on the phone. There was a moment when the screen worked normally again, so I took advantage of this situation to turn on the Bluetooth. I synced most of the data. It's a piece of cake for the pics, videos, contacts and messages. But I am unable to find a way of syncing the Calendar. Ovi Suite doesn't have this option so I tried with Nokia PC Suite. I managed to sync only a part of all the entries I have there :/ I realized that it syncs only the default one ("General" I think it's called in english?). I have 7 other calendars like "Work", "Fun" or "Events". How can I save those calendars on my laptop? Please

Are you people serious? Sorry for being so direct, but this is supposed to be a help forum for Nokia users. NO ONE is able to give me even 1 solution??????? or at least hints??
As always I can't count on others for help and have to do everything myself even though I'm not a smartphone geek. After a few days of search I managed to find a way to maybe sync the created calendars. But I have to create a profile in Outlook (what the hell?). Okay, I created a profile in Outlook according to the steps mentioned on a website and I still can't sync the calendars with Nokia Ovi Suite! WHY??? In addition, in the settings of the N900 in "Transfer & Sync" when I want to create a new data transfer profile I can't find my laptop as a device in the Bluetooth search list. I am UNABLE to sync/transfer data. I'll try now with the USB cable...
PLEASE HELP OUT.
