Stumped over Template Regions

Our organization site was built using Dreamweaver templates (If it helps to see it "in action" the URL is nursing.iupui.edu). We use Contribute for ease-of-use by our distributed editors. I'm the administrator and have only enough knowledge to be dangerous using Contribute (I'm more comfortable working directly in the code), and unfortunately I'm the one who knows the most here. My computer was recently upgraded to CS5. With CS4, we used a left-nav, right-nav, center content format; the left and right nav files are include files. Our editors often use "template properties" to add or remove a right-nav file. With CS4, they could use template properties to check that they wanted it to appear, then to add the path to the include file, or delete it, and save it. After CS5 was installed when I click template properties I get an Inconsistent Region names box, but I don't know what it's asking for or how to make a selection. To complicate things, now, when I click template properties, I get an alert box over the top of the Inconsistent Region Names box that says "In file ""OrphanedContent"":initializeUI is not defined.
I am completely and irrevocably lost. I dont' even know the right questions to ask. Can someone help me?
Cindy

When I match up the properties to the closest region, I get the Template Properties box that I'm used to getting in CS4:
But when I click OK or Apply nothing happens, I can only get Cancel to react.
Cindy.

    Maybe I need to know how to place two or more template regions side by side?
    Can you insert a template into a table?
    How do you insert a template within the main template along side a region within the main template?
    Sorry to ask so many questions but each approach would sole the sampe problem.  (Putting two or more regions, side by side.)
    Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer me.

    How do I change the page size of a template or a template region so that I can place two templates side by side with the content in between?
    Template regions are not layout regions.  They do not add any structure to your page, and only provide a way to add content to whatever HTML structure contains the template region.  So - you need to make your Template's HTML provide the space.
    For example, you could have a three column, one row table with an editable region in the left/right cell.  The exact answer, though, will depend on your page's layout and where you want the editable regions to be placed within that layout.
    In addition, you say "place two templates side by side" as if the regions were the templates.  That's not correct.  There is a template file, which contains editable regions.  Thus, you could not place two templates side by side.
    Can you insert a template into a table?
    See the answer above.  You can place an editable region inside a table.
    Sorry to ask so many questions but each approach would sole the sampe problem.  (Putting two or more regions, side by side.)
    I bellieve you are very confused about what templates are and how to use them, and so I strongly suggest you read DW's F1 Help about templates before going further with this project.

    U will C what kind of disign V R using (regions without templates)
    So, it works fune ... in here. In our working environment it is not working. It doesn't give any errors. It just doing NOTHING when clicking on the box. I believe it is this line that doesn't work onclick="htmldb_ToggleWithImage(this,'left_region')".
    So the Q is : what is "htmldb_ToggleWithImage", and where to look for it. Somewhere on the forum i found that this is a java script. So, does it live in UNIX (operating system)? How to find it? And what can be wrong with it?....

  • Locking editable template regions to Contribute users only

    Hi,
    I would like to know if it's possible to lock some editable
    template regions to Contribute users only? We need to have these
    regions editable through Dreaweaver so our site designers can still
    modify them. I'm not talking about the "Optional region" here, just
    a "regular" editable region.
    Thank you,
    Stéphane Brault

    there's no option to restrict access to contribute users only
    when using Dreamweaver templates.. but a possible dirty workaround
    would be to place those editable regions inside dynamic code (ASP,
    PHP, JSP, etc..) as Contribute won't be able to interpret them..
    they won't be visible in Contribute

  • Remove template region

    I have established a small hierarchy of templates for a
    DreamWeaver CS3 site. At the first level, one template region (1)
    contains a table with 9 cells each containing a rollover image.
    New template pages (x 6) are generated from this template
    page. The images in (1) above are changed on each of these, so that
    they remain uneditable in all resulting pages. But when I press the
    Template region tab, Modify > Templates > (Remove template
    markup) is greyed out.
    This is what the help site says I should do. What have I done
    wrong, and is there another way to solve the problem?

    Do not use nested templates.
    Your single template will have editable regions placed so
    that on pages that
    require section-specific navigation you can add a navigation
    element
    accordingly.
    For example -
    1. Make a Library item that contains JUST your navigation for
    a specific
    section, or
    2. Make a server-side include that contains the same
    On a child page, you have an editable region available for
    the
    section-specific navigation because of the way you have built
    the template.
    So, you can place either item #1 or item #2 as needed (use
    DW's F1 help to
    read about both - I prefer the latter).

  • Hi, I switched over my region but still when I try to purchase things it's still telling me that i am in my old region and I can't  access them

    Hi, I switched over my region because I recently moved but, when I try to purchase things it's telling me that I am still in my old region and what I need to purchase is not available in my store.

    What exactly do you mean; "I switched over my region because I recently moved out".??
    Region Changes are specific to: Country/Regions
    Unless you are out of your specific Country/Region; iTunes will detect your WAN IP Address as being in your original defualt region..

  • Layering over templates

    1)  I have imported various sliced backgrounds from PS cs4. Do I need to create and layout them out using CSS rules, in order to layer images on top of each other. I have gradient drop down menus which incorporate transparency features. I seem to have tried everything and I can't manage to get spry's to overlay an existing imported template. When I import GIF's or PNG's with transparency features and use them as spry's. They push my entire template off the page instead of sitting on top of them, with the graphics still remaining beneath.
    2)  How do you adjust spry's? I want an automated drop instead of having to click on it. How do you go about setting up the timing for the drop and removing the highlighted area.
    3)  How do you reverse a drop down menu, if you have a separate menu at the base of the page which you wish to rise up with menu options, instead of dropping down?

  • Editable template regions

    I made a div with a editable region and the design view shows
    it to be editable but I am not allowed to make padding changes with
    the css for that div. The error msg shows "Making this change would
    require changing code that is locked by a template or a translator.
    The change will be discarded." What am I missing???? The region is
    editable but I can't edit??????????
    I attached the code and it is specifically the div

    thanks in advance for your time.

    It is your CSS styles that are in a NONeditable region of the
    head, so
    they can not be edited on the Child page. Either move the
    styles to an
    external stylesheet (best), or move them to the "Head"
    editable region
    on the page, or manually create new styles in that editable
    region that
    will over-ride the current ones.

  • CS6 - add non-editable region inside editable template region?

    I have the following in a template:
        <div class="main-content">
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="main-content" -->
          <div class="content p7ehc-1"> <!-- from projectseven.com; don't change -->
            <h1 class="page-topper">Enter topic here</h1>
            <p>Enter content here</p>
          </div>
        <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
       </div>
    Right now everything in main-content is editable. I'd like to add "Page last revised - " at the bottom of the page which would be non-editable. An editable date would follow.
    I already have a number of pages with content so any solution should not destroy the content of those pages. (If needed I'd be willing to manually add "Page last revised -" to each of those pages. However, I'd want this to be automatically added for any new pages that were based on the template.)
    I have tried putting "Page last revised -" in another div and making it non-editable but this creates other layout problems. I currently don't want to explore this option further.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    You could always drop a server-side include or even a Dreamweaver Library item into that editable region (the latter method is a poor second choice, though). Is that a reasonable solution?
    Failing that, manually adding Ben's code both to the existing child pages and the current template will definitely place that code into newly created child pages. The beauty of his suggestion is that it's self maintaining, meaning that the code will always show the proper date on each page.

  • Document for template regions

    Hi,
    I have created a custom template. Base class I have chosen as Reports Region. I want to use the substitution strings in my template but is there any document which would tell me with the help of a demo or a diagram where in each template is sub region section , title section, buttons' positions etc? or
    If I have to create and then get to know , how do I create a sub region in a page with Reports Region Template?
    Can anyone please guide me?
    I am using Apex version 4.2.2.00.11.
    Thanks in Advance

    I'm not sure there is an answer to this question.
    Templates are there so you can create your own versions of what a region looks like.
    Are you confusing sub regions with the 'Parent region' attribute on the region properties?

  • How do i create a background image that i can place objects over (editiabel region)

    which file

  • Template region that reaches to the bottom of the page

    I work with Oracle AS Portal 10g.
    Can someone give me a hint how to create a page template with a grey region on the left reaching to the bottom of the page?
    My template has the following regions:
    | Banner |
    | portlet with | | portlet |
    | fixed size | grey | with |
    | | re- | variable |
    ----------------- gion | size |
    | grey region | 2 | |
    | 1 | | |
    | | | |
    The grey region 2 is an item region. It contains a one pixel picture and is based on a style with grey background colour. It is defined with height 0. This region behaves as I need it. It always has the same height as the region on the right.
    The grey region 1 is also defined with height 0. This region should also reach to the bottom of the page. How do I have to define the grey region 1 so that it reaches to the bottom? I could not find a solution.
    Regards
    Peter Binninger

    You can use an Unstructured UI Template that uses a background image with a grey left side. the HTML for the template should look something like:
    <html>
    <head>
    #PAGE.STYLE#
    #PAGE.BASE#
    </head>
    <body background="url_to_background_image">
    #BODY#
    </body>
    </html>
    Unstructured UI templates are created under: Navigator>ProviderTab>Locally built providers>Shared>User Interface Template
    Then configure your page group properties to allow for UI templates. Now on Your page properties "Other" tab select the UI template you created. Your region will not grow, but you will have the grey show on the left through the UI template.
    Please note that if your page uses a regular Template, you must apply the UI template to the regular template.
    Hope this helps,
    Candace

  • OAF Help needed to customize the Information Template region

    Hi All,
    We are working on 11.5.9 to 11.5.10 application upgrade project.
    We have created an information template in the “Information Template” setup where we have defined couple of Date fields. These fields are appearing as free text entry fields on the iProc screen. We want user to enter date in a particular date format (say “DD-MON-YYYY”). We don’t want to attach a value set as this approach will display awful amount of date records in the drop down list.
    We tried modifying the region XML file (InfoTemplateRN.xml) used for the information template. Here, the attributes defined in the Information template are getting divided into two equal groups and each group is getting displayed in one region. The InfoTemplateRN.Attribute1 and InfoTemplateRN.Attribute2 fields are used to display each group(group of attribute defined in the template). The Attribute1 and Attribute2 elements are of item type Switcher and whatever changes we are making to these field are appearing for other text-input fields(other than the date fields) which are linked to these regions.
    Is it possible to control/manipulate the behavior of a specific text-input field?
    Any information on this will be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

    Hello Eric,

    ORDER BY PROFILE_NM
    This is the Query and the query takes some mins. to run in prod environment.
    From the Query plan ,I am not able to get any idea for optimization.
    Now,Can you tell me which steps I need to follow to run it faster and which all modifications should be made?
    Thanks.

  • Template regions not allowing most changes

    Hi all
    I have a strange situation where I have a template, which seems to be setup correctly, but will not display styles (ie – displays the page as though there are no stylesheets), and will not allow me paste in content into the editable regions, or apply styles, insert images etc – it just refuses!
    When I do it in the code- its fine, by in the design pane  - basically just typing by hand is allowed.
    Other pages (non template-based), and other templates – are fine.
    Any idea what it could be?
    Thanks!

    Without seeing the code the most we can suggest is to run your page through the validator and make sure there is nothing invalid in the code that is conflicting with the template markup.
