Stumped-using the summarize feature in Preview with Automator

I'm scratching my head on this one. I am trying to create a workflow that basically does the following:
Find designated files
Open with Preview
Run the Summarize feature within Preview
The "running the summarize" feature is obviously not one of the pre-made actions within Automator, but I can't figure out how to do my own.
Any ideas or places I can go to read up more on tweaking automator?

The fcanalyzer command only works to monitor traffic from the port to the internal addresses on the switch, such as the fabric controller or name server. It does not intercept traffic traveling from one external port to another. (Except in the obscure case of a limited number of Fabric commands when IVR is in use.)
When I use the fcanalyzer command, I just tell it to capture everything, regardless of source, destination, FCID, whatever. Unless you have a fairly unstable fabric, this will not produce an unreadable mess. (It also has the advantage that it will capture both sides of a FLOGI. Filtering by FCID will not.)
If you want to "sniff" all the traffic, you will need to use a SPAN port and a Cisco Port Analyzer Adapter (the cheap option), or if you need to monitor more bandwidth than that box can handle or work on a lower level, you will need a XGig analyzer from Finisar. (the not-so-cheap option)

I can't use the iCloud feature on Safari with Mountain Lion.

I updated to Mountain Lion but my iPad 3rd gen and my iPhone 4S will not update or use the iCloud function in Safari. It says it works on my computer, but the icon is not on my IOS devices. In the IOS 6 update info it says that iCloud web page sharing between devices would come out in fall, so why do I have it on my
computer then? If it is supposed to work just give me a sollution please, I just want it to work.
PS. My IOS devices says they are already up to date.

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Late 09 iMac. Can I use the new features in Yosemite with this platform?

I want to use handoff and other features, but I can't seem to get them to work. Is it because of the age of my iMac? if so will there be a work around for this?

In addition, if you use older iDevices, like iPad 2 or 3 or an iPhone 4 model, these DO NOT support iOS 8 Handoff or Continuity features, either.

With hardware acceleration enabled, and with plenty of tabs open, using the Windows 7 taskbar preview option will almost always crashed the nVidia display driver.

If I have plenty of tabs opened, in Firefox 4 beta 6 with hardware acceleration enabled, using the Windows 7 Taskbar preview feature (that will show all the tabs Firefox has loaded) will cause the Nvidia display driver to crash. When this happen, the GUI part of Firefox will be unusable and has to be killed via Task Manager.
This doesn't happen if hardware acceleration is disabled.

It is beta software and the older 4.0 b6 version may not work with all display drivers.

Sounds like some needed System Fonts wre replaced by bad ones. Y also have Font Book in Applications for validating fonts & checking for duplicates.
Required Fonts from 10.3, much the same in 10.4...

then intall the Fonts what you need from your Install Disk.
Or do a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.

Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?
The drivers that shipped with Win 8 are pretty out of date (and buggy).

There is a workaround, which is to use Airport Utility 5.6.
I can confirm that 5.6 will run on 10.8.4 Mountain Lion, it will recognize the new 2013 Airport Extreme Base Station (A1521) running firmware 7.7.1, and it will give you access to view the device's Log & Statistics, DHCP Clients, and Profiles.
Four caveats:
1) The easiest way to install it is to download the app itself, not an installer or through the App Store. There is a page here where you can download the app: http://coreyjmahler.com/2013/03/08/airport-utility-5-6-on-os-x-v10-8-mountain-li on/ This way, you still have both versions, Airport Utility 6.x.x and 5.6.
2) When you launch 5.6, you'll get a message saying a newer version is available and asking if you want to update. Click Cancel to proceed into the utility.
3) When you click the Manual Setup button in 5.6, you'll get a warning dialog that "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this AirPort wireless device and might improperly configure the device if you continue to use it. Check www.apple.com/support/airport for the latest version of AirPort Utility." You can click Continue to get into the utility without issue.
4) You should probably only use 5.6 to view the additional status details. I have not tried to modify and save any AEBS settings using 5.6. There are other discussions here in the forums indicating that attempting to save settings via 5.6 that are no longer available in 6.3.1 will not actually save the settings to the AEBS even if both utilities indicate that the settings are changed. So, even though you can't use it to modify settings no longer available in Airport Utility 6.3.1, using Airport Utility 5.6 to view DHCP clients, Logs and Statistics is very useful for troubleshooting network issues.
PS - There are two ways to get to the DHCP Clients list, neither of which is obvious The first is to go to the Airport pane -> Summary tab and click on the "Wireless Clients:" label in the Summary display. All of the labels from "Wireless Mode:" down on the Summary display operate as links to view/edit the corresponding info/settings, which is also not obvious at first glance. Also not obvious, clicking on "Wireless Clients:" actually brings up a new pane with three tabs: Logs, Wireless Clients, and DHCP Clients. You can also get to the same pane by going to the Advanced pane and clicking on the Logs and Statistics button.
I hope this is helpful information. Took me a while to find out how to do this.

You don't need a phone port on the iMac. The HP 7300 DeskJet Pro has an internal modem, you connect the printer's modem connection directly to your phone line. Please re-read the install directions that came with the printer.

Bought elements 10 last month and can't use the edit feature.

So I got elements 10 with a Wacom Bamboo Capture around April 23rd last month. I created a new adobe id and signed in. It asked me to update my account and add my birthday, personal URL for photoshop, and agree to the terms. Everytime I've tried to do this during the past few weeks I always get an error/failure message. I acknowledge that photoshop is moving to revel and that's probably the reason why I can't complete my sign in. I've already asked adobe with a live chat and they suggested I come here to the forums. Just don't use the welcome screen. If you use Windows, go into the program files or program files(x86) for 64-bit systems, find the actual .exe/application file for the editor, right click it and make a desktop shortcut and use that instead of the welcome screen to launch the editor. For macs, it's in applications>adobe photoshop elements 10>support files.

Is it possible to use the 'Record' feature of the Applescript editor to create a script that will automatically copy a website address into a new email message and then send that email message to everyone in my Friends category from the Address Book.
I want to do this because I want to alert my friends to changes on my website once a week, but I don't want to have to sit and type out the email and copy the website address and everything like that. So I was thinking I could do it with one click using Applescript.
Is that right and how dangerous is it. Like if i somehow manage to mess up the script can I just delete it and start again without causing any damage to my Mac

I want to do the following.
1: Open Mail
2: Create a new email message
3: Set the recipients from my contact group "Friends" so that everyone in my my 'Friends" contact group will receive the email
4: Set the subject as: "Check out these great new updates to my site"

Am I correct in thinking that I will need to use Automator and schedule the automation to run a script as per a weekly iCal event.
If this is correct, then how would I do that. Can I use the 'Record' feature of Automator and the Applescript Editor, to create the automation and the script. I am new to doing this kind of thing so I am unsure of the procedure for accomplishing the task I described above automatically.

How to use the keystroke feature of applescript?

I am trying to use the keystroke feature of Applescript.
On page 200 of "Mac OSX Panther edition The Missing Manual" shows the following example (to select all of a document):
keystroke "a" using (command down)
I tried to use this with keystroke "o" and got the message that "using" can't be used this way. Where can I find a few examples of how to use this feature in Applescript? I particularly want to use keystrokes to copy rulers in Appleworks. The keystrokes to do this are "shift-command-v".

I cannot "save" my newly reduced size video after using the "TRIM" feature...I get "The Operation could not be completed". Why?

I would start with my original AVI file, then hit duplicate to get a duplicate file to work on....I then would use the "TRIM" feature to shorten the video. Then when I hit "close", and it prompted me to name the newly reduced file, and saved it appropriately.So I did this procedure with two of my AVI format videos and it worked flawlessly.
But I have tried to do this same procedure with a half a dozen more AVI videos and it will not allow me to name the modified file after I have "trimmed it" and save it...when I enter the name for the modified file and hit "close", I get the message "The operation could not be completed". Why isn't it allowing me to save the files??
(I am working with OSX 10.7.3, Quicktime Player 10.1 iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core i3)

Using the "Capture" Feature?

Hi all,
I'm using a Canon Vixia HF-R100 and trying to use the Capture Feature in the program, but don't know where to start? I've researched around google how to connect the video camera, but I can't get a concrete answer. The camera has a component out which I believe is an IEEE 1394 (a or b?). I trying to hook it up to my 13' MBP as well as my desktop that I think has a Firewire 400. Any help would be great.
PS - When I use this featue does it capture what the camera sees approx. 'real-time' or will I have to record first, then play it back?

The answer you were given to this question above is "yes, capture is in real-time" BUT, I think that possibly that poster misunderstood your question. I believe the OP is asking if he can use the capture feature in Premiere to record video "as the camera sees it" instead of having to go to tape/flash first, and then play it back to be captured. To my knowledge, Premiere's capture interface doesn't allow for capture of live video... for something like that you'd use OnLocation which is bundled with Premiere.
