Stumped with HDCP issues with ATV2

Still getting HDCP HDMI errors on NetFlix!
- My TV is HDCP compliant (even upgraded to latest firmware)
- Tried 3 new HDMI cables, including Apple and Monster.
- Did a ATV2 reset
- powered down TV and ATV2, powered back up
- Blueray player works, PS3 works (with Netflix), STB works. ATV does not!
It just is not working.....
Ideas?

I'm having the same issue, although with iTunes purchased content.
My ATV2 was working great, up until 2 days ago, when the HDCP error comes up for any iTunes purchased movies or Netflix content.
I tried all the advice:
resetting the ATV2
Restoring
Powering everything down, and back on
eliminating any HDMI switch between ATV2 and TV
Nothing worked. I still can't watch any protected content.
Any ideas?

My experience with Apple TV and HDMI/HDCP issues

I am convinced that it is the software update to 4.2.2 from 4.2.1 that is causing this issue. All forms of applications only worked once for me and then it reverted back to HDCP issues. I read several postings everywhere including plenty at Apple's forum and AVS where people were very frustrated with this HDCP issues. Anyways, here is what I did before taking it back to Apple store....I bought AUVIO high speed cables from Radio Shack which is rated very high and tried that and I still got HDCP issues when using NetFlix or AirPlay from iPad. Youtube from Apple TV always worked well without HDCP complaints.
I packed everything back and took it to Apple Store (you can return without re-stocking fee up to 14 days from the day of purchase). After 14 days, you cannot even return it and you can ONLY fix it. I waited for a Technician. They heard my complaints but didn't refute any of it (possibly because they have had numerous complaints on this product). It took 5 minutes inside for them to test and see similar issues with the box that I had. So, they have swapped it for a new box. Before I left the store, I checked the settings including software version and Audio/Video settings in the Apple TV that is connected at the store. I found three main differences none of which the Apple customer service staff agreed could be the reason for my problems (surprise!!)
1. The software update from the shelf and the one they were using was NOT updated to 4.2.2 (it was still running 4.2.1)
2. Because of the software update, the Audio/Video setting for HDMI had the options to toggle between Auto, RGBy, RGBhi & RGBlo bandwidth. I believe this was in place to make the HDMI interface output as component with higher or lower bandwidth but the newer update will ONLY give you the Auto option (!!!)
3. They had this directly Ethernet wired and not through Wireless network and were recieving the all the full bar strength signals. On the box that I returned, eventhough I have 18 Mbps speed at the house (any given time of the day), the Network speed test was taking a long time. Moreover, after the Apple TV network test, it doesn't spit out the outcome of the tests (a BIG bummer and useless for testing).
Anyways, I took the new box and hooked it up directly to my SONY BRAVIA XBR3 TV to one of the HDMI ports, disabled the feature to send or recieve data to Apple directly and did NOT update the software. It worked fine and have tested all of the options. From what I have read so far (I have only spent 30 hours of my weekend on this when Apple product hookups are supposed to take 5 minutes ONLY), there is NO guarantee that it will work continuously as people have had things work on them for 6 months and then suddenly have the HDCP issues.
Will wait to see....if it continues to work....

I figured it out. Had to go to general settings on the main screen and restart. Synch of audio is much better.

Why does my tv screen black out with atv2?

Does anyone know how to cure the screen on my tv blacking out with atv2? It occurs whether watching a movie from iTunes or Netflix, flicking through my iTunes library or when the photographs scroll when listening to music. I have latest software, tried resettting the atv and also changed the hdmi cable. Any help would be appreciated.

I bought ATV last night and have the same issue. Mine screen is up for no more than 60 seconds at a time so it really is useless. I'm going to try different things today to see if I can figure it out, but no answers yet.

Basically you copy the code from the page that the frameset
calls onto your
new page (excluding body tags). If this is to appear on
several pages then
it may be better to save the code separately and then call it
via a server
side include.

E4200 Not Working with ATV2 when wired

I have an E4200 router & am trying to get it to work with ATV2 through HomeSharing & iTunes. It works fine when my PC is wireless & the ATV2 is wireless. BUT, when the ATV2 is wired via ethernet & the PC is wireless -- nothing!
PC is Win 7 64 - SP1
ATV2 is 4.4.3 (3323) and the router is:
E4200 is 1.0.03 build 14

Check the settings on the APTV2 for Airplay . The airplay symbol appears at the bottom right in iTunes and turn the APTV2 on...
You can try the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Then click on Security tab disable SPI Firewall Protection, uncheck Filter Anonymous Internet Requests...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

HT4428 Since updating the software to version 5.3 I have been unable to use my Apple TV due to HDCP issue.

Since updating the software to version 5.3 I have been unable to use my Apple TV due to an HDCP issue. I have eliminated the HDMI cable as the problem problem. My Television is HDCP compliant. And prior to updating my Apple TV to the current version all content was availble and streaming beautifully.
Is it possible to revert to the previous software update version?

If you can't use another card, how about redeeming iTunes gift certificates on it instead?

Frustrating HDMI/HDCP issues with ATV and Onkyo receiver

After two frustrating weeks of trouble shooting, I would like to share with you my situation.
Two weeks ago I upgraded our living room HT to a new Onkyo TX-SR707 receiver and a new ATV (connected by HDI). The system includes a ComcastHD DVR (connected by HDMI) and an older DVD player (connected by component). The TV is a five year old Samsung RP DLP 1080i (also connected by HDMI to the new receiver).
The connections to the DVD player and the ComcastHD DVR have been flawless. When I first connected the ATV I went to the set up menu, connected to an AE base station (g) and uploaded a few hundred pics and homemade videos, no movies or music from iTunes. Since then, the receiver seems to have a great deal of trouble switching on to the ATV. I have made the following corrections:
All HDMI cables were unplugged and re-plugged.
All HDMi cables were upgraded to the Munster Cable "top of the line"
Switched the ComcastHD DVR and the ATV to other HDMI in connections in the back of the receiver
Re-setted the ATV to factory and uploaded only pics.
Made sure that the receiver was set to "Through" on the Monitor Out connection so that it would not do any upscaling.
Made sure that the HDMI option in the ATV was at AUTO. I also tried ALL the other options under HDMI
Changed the resolution on the ATV to all of the others, with the exception of 480P, no improvement.
None of the above worked. I then took the ATV to my main home theater in the basement. It has an older Onkyo TX-SR875 with an overhead JVC RS1 projector, Oppo Blu-Ray and a ComcastHD DVR. All the components were connected with HDMI, including the ATV. Guess what happen? The ATV worked in my basement like a charm!!
The problem is that I don't want the ATV in the basement HT, but upstairs so that the family can enjoy the pics and home made movies. After the ATV test in the basement, I took it back upstairs to the Onkyo 707 receiver. Guess what? Once again it could not switch from any components to the ATV except under these two circumstances:
1. If I selected ATV on the receiver and it did not connect, after turning the receiver off for 10 seconds it connected perfectly well. If I then switched to any other compoment, I could not switch back to the ATV unless I turned the receiver off again for ten seconds.
2. I turned the resolution of the ATV to 480P and guess what? The problem is gone!
It seems that there is an HDMI handshake or HDCP problem between the Onkyo 707 and the ATV. Given that the lower resolution doesn't uses HDCP that could be the issue, but this was not a problem at all in the basement HT with the Onkyo 875 receiver.
The one big difference between these two receivers is that the video processing CPU is a Faroudja for the 707 (where I can't get the ATV to work properly) and the 875 uses the Reon-HQV.
I would greatly appreciate any comments.

I think there's a general misconception about HDMI cables, I'm not convinced it's a case that there is no difference. Quality is usually determined by the diameter or more importantly the uniformity of the diameter of the individual strands of the cable, it is also affected by the precision of the length of each strand and the purity thereof.
More expensive cables tend to be of higher quality by virtue of better quality control, needless to say there are minimum standards for such cables and in this sense, cheap or expensive, all types of cable will meet this standard.
Personally I avoid cheap cables, but I'm not convinced there's a need to spend the sort of money some cables are priced at, nor am I convinced they are proportionally higher in quality.

I have the same problem as all sorts of people with "HDCP" issue for playback.

What is APPLE saying about this massive issue, I'm ready to completely switch to another product and super frustrated. I've tried the "quick" solutions with no help.

HDCP Error with atv2 and Philips TV

I have a atv2 and a Philips TV, everything is working fine, but not iTunes. I bougt 2 films on iTunes (rented) and after a few seconds (1-5 seconds) the films stops and after a while it´s displayed, that my connection does not support hdcp. But that can´t be, becaus I use a blu-ray player on that TV too. I tried with different hdmi cables, I even bought a very expensive and short one, but always the same error. I tried different hdmi inputs, even downloaded a new firmware on the Philps TV, restarted the atv but nothing worked. Now I payed for 2 films for I´m not able to see. Does any one can help me????

I would try testing with another tv to verify the problem is with the tv and not with the atv

Copy Profile has me stumped with Windows 8.1

When I deploy my image, everything is fine EXCEPT THE COPY PROFILE.
My start screen is fine, I exported via powershell and imported via powershell in the TS.

Here is how I capture my image.
Nothing seems to work for and every time I deploy the image to a machine, the profile with all my customizations doesn't get copied to default user so that any new login that happens they do not get the customizations I have setup.
Any advice or help you could offer would greatly be appreciated as I am truly stumped, also I am under a tight deadline and have been racking my brain for 2 weeks trying to solve this issue to no avail.
I even tried to manually seal the image using C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:"C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep64-81-std.xml"
and then running an MDT non sysprep capture ts to capture it to a wim and when I deploy that the profile still will not copy.

I use copyprofile=true in my unattend.xml file for Windows 8.1 Update deployments and it works - no problems at all.
Can I suggest that you re-create your unattend.xml file against your image?
In my Windows-Shell-Setup component in my xml file the CopyProfile setting is the last setting in the group:

Completely Stumped With Layers

I have been trying to understand the using of layers in Elements 10 for about the last three weeks, but I have no idea. I have looked at all the help information read the "Dummies" books but am getting nowhere.
What I want to do:
I have an artwork (done by a professional graphic artist about two years ago --- I am guessing he used Photoshop) that comprises on the one canvas ( I guess that would be the best description) four identical sized square photos that are placed side by side with a very slight gap between each photo. Three of the photos have, I am presuming, numerous layers applied (ie a main background photo and then numerious pieces of smaller photos and text overlayed --- each one of the three photos being a form of collage), the fourth photo is just the plain photo with nothing on top and no modification.
Once compiled the lot (I guess) was flattened and saved as both a JPG and a PDF file. The PDF file also having crop marks applied. I was given a copy of both of these files at the time and they were given to a printer for replication.
I would now like to be able to use the same canvas (artwork) but would like to change the fourth photo to something more 2013.
To achieve this, I am presuming that I need to open the initial PDF file (I have done this OK) and then by using a new layer somehow (from here on I am stumped!!!) import the new photo and place it directly over the old fourth photo, flatten the lot and then save the finished product as a new PDF file.
However, with my complete lack of knowledge, I can not do it. I have done as everything (books, video, etc) states in relation to creating a new layer in the layers panel, but I can not go any further.
I am sure that any six year old Grade 1 student would be able to achieve what I want, but not me !!!!
Can anyone tell me (or tell me where to find what I require) in "super dummie" language, the step by step way to do what I want. OR, am I approaching the task in the completely wrong way, or even with the wrong program.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, as I can not find the graphic artist who did the initial job (he has apparently moved to another State somewhere).

Try this:
Open the file with all the layers showing
Delete the layer targeted for deletion
Open a blank layer in this exact location
Go to File>place and point to the replacement file on your disk, put it in the blank layer, use the handles to resize
You may have to address the issue of resolution if there is a great variance between the original and replacement.

Now I have privacy concerns with ATV2

After last night's epic failure of the ATV system, what we have learned is that every single video you play on an ATV2 has to be authorized by apple servers.
I understand it if the video has Apple's fairplay DRM, but much of the video I have in itunes is my personal video or DVDs i ripped with handbrake.
Last night Apple's servers were down and anybody who owned an ATV2 could not play any videos.
So keep in mind they have to authorize every video you play, and if their servers are down like they were last night, you can't play ANYTHING...

Am I correct in thinking you're saying that this outage prevented you streaming unprotected content to AppleTV?
DRM is a pain in the neck that only affects paying customers who want to use their content in a versatile manner.
I previously took AppleTV2 on a trip along with iPad, MacMini and old AppleTV - bit of overkill.
Where we stayed had no internet connectivity that I could easily use for AppleTVs.
No problems playing DRM content from the AppleTV1's hard drive.
No problem using Mac Mini hooked up to TV via HDMI to play back DRM content.
I ran into the authorisation issues when trying to stream conetnet from itunes to the AppleTV 2 or using Airplay to send things to AppleTV 2.
If Apple now invokes internet authorisation just to play anything they are crippling the device if there's a server or interent issue which is wrong.
This goes hand in hand with the fragility of the iTunes DRM content ecosystem in that in the unlikely event iTunes store closed if bought out/Apple failed and servers were shut down then your content would be rendered useless. This is quite unlikely in the forseeable future but who knows in 10-20 years time ?
