Creative **bleep**ers really know how to screw you over. I read good reviews for the Zen Micro, so I bought one. The headphone jack broke within 30 days, so I got a new one for free at Best Buy. Now its broken again, and I bought the protection plan. This really doesnt do much for me, since these peices of crap break within 3 months, why would you need an extended warranty? What a waste of money it was and now Creative is charging me shipping and long distance charges to get this fixed. I now hate Creative and I am never buying from them again. The customer service is awful, as well as the products.

Which protection plan did you buy? The Creative Care plan provides for shipping both ways. Also, how are you using the unit's There are many people here who have not had this problem, or have had it rarely. Perhaps there is something in your usage of the Zen Micro that we can address and suggest alternati'ves for. I.E. If you use it in your pocket a lot, use headphones with a right-angle plug to exert less force on the jack.

I now have 2 user accounts, but only want one.

so i stupidly created an account on my new macbook pro when i first turned it on. the next day, i decided to use the Migration Assistant to drag over my files and software from my old laptop. the computer set up a new account based on how my old laptop was set up. they both have administrator capability, so i can delete either one depending on which one i'm logged into (in other words, whichever one i'm logged in as, that one becomes the main administrator and is listed in the system preferences Accounts window under "My Account" and the other one is listed under "Other Accounts." so i deleted the first unnecessary account, but saved the contents of it as a disk image. do i need anything in there before i permanently delete it? like the Library, or is the Library in the other account sufficient? does this make any sense?

sounds logical. i just looked through disk images and compared the libraries and they seem to be the pretty much the same, aside from the old stuff it brought over. some of the dates are newer on some duplicate stuff from the deleted account, like font collections. i wonder if those are really any different or not. but in terms of customization, i hardly did anything. i saved a text edit file with my complaint to apple about the computer coming with 10.4.11 loaded and a disk for 10.5
and now i see there's a 10.5.1 already. can't even get through on the phone...

Can I combine my two Apple IDs

Recently, when upgrading my iPhone to a 4s I stupidly created a new Apple ID and have been using a mix of two IDs for some months now. I guess I was too excited about the new Apple tech to be thinking straight!
The upshot is that I now have two Apple IDs which is a real pain as it is causing all manner of difficulties with syncing etc between my iPhne, iPads, Mac Book Air and iMac.
Is there any way these two accounts can be merged so that all my music, my contacts, my apps and iCloud become associated with just one ID again?
Is there some kind soul in Apple that can help me out? The Genius Bar technician says not, but I still hold out hope that someone somewhere has the answer.

Old network gone- can it be restored?

I had to do a hard back up of my time capsule and stupidly created a new network, because I could not figure out how to access the old one. The old one completely disappeared, along with 50,000 of my son's photos….. is there any way I can find them again?

What OS are you running?
I always recommend to people to do manual mounting as from Mavericks there is issues with network protocols.
The steps are.
1. Make sure the TC is available on the network via airport utility. You need its IP address as that is the easiest way to access it.
The real network name is also helpful.
Real network name is not the same as the name if you used spaces and apostrophe in the name so I strongly recommend the TC being named correctly so the network and actual names are identical.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. eg TCgenx (where x is the number of gen TC you have)
2. Make sure ipv6 is set to link-local only. Do this in whatever network you use, ethernet or wireless. eg wireless.
3. In Finder type in the name.. or IP address.. in Go, Connect to Server from the top menu.
AFP://TCgenx.local (where you replace TCgenx with the actual network name of your TC. local is the default domain.)
OR
AFP://10.0.1.1 (this is the default IP.. replace with your actual IP).
When asked for the disk access password, type that in and make sure you save it in the keychain.
4. You should now be able to access any files on the TC. The only thing that would prevent you is permissions which have become trickier since Mavericks for reasons I am unsure of.

Compressed display in ALV for VA01

I would look at customer 113803 in client 20 , this customer has multiple ship tos but when the pop up for the multiple ship tos is displayed we would like to show in the compressed mode so you can see all the ship to information without having to push the compress button each time. Is this possible ? Please guide me ......

'configure'? -> via customizing or a call screen in a user exit?
Can you give us the name of the popup (not window title, but something like SAPMV45A 4701. This you can see in main screen of transaction VA01 after pressing F1 -> technical info).
Just try to give as much program names, field names, buttons which you push as possible. And try to give a step-by-step way for stupids:
Create new sales order.
Enter customer number in overview screen. Customer has many ship-to partners.
Push F4 for ship-to-party...
Hope this will help to understand each other.

Updating linked projects and Albums

Hi all, I'm new to Aperture. I keep all my photo's on a NAS box and have linked them into Aperture with Import Folders as projects storing files in their current location. Everything seemed great, it didn't fill my HDD up with 1TB of pictures and it kept my folder structure. I though i had it all sorted, but when i add files to the folders on the NAS box they don't get added to the Aperture projects/Albums.
When i try to do another import it just stupidly creates a copy of the projects and albums inside the ones i already have!
Basically is there a way to use Aperture in this way where i don't have to fill my HDD up with my pictures that i already have stored on a NAS box and that i can update when i add new pictures to the NAS box (preferably automatically) without having to delete all the aperture content and add it again?

I might suggest reading the page of the manual before you call it stupid. It works as designed and as documented as far as I can tell.

Yes, using referenced masters, which I believe you have already done.

Well, yes, but you'll have to change your workflow.
Aperture is not designed to import a whole computer's worth of files and sort out the duplicates every time. It is designed to do that once to initialize your library. After that, you must import individual folders or photos.
You will be in charge of telling Aperture what to import, unless you set up some Hot Folders and folder actions. People do this for tethered shooting all the time. Still, that will be only for a particular folder. There's no way to make Aperture look "next to" what it imported previously and see if there's anything there.

Fix booting of bootcamp partition?

I recently, very stupidly, created another partion on my mac for no reason. It has now broken the bootcamp partition (It won't boot, does not show up in the option menu at boot). I cannot get it to fix using the windows installation disk or anything like that, so I was wondering what are my options to restore the bootcamp partition.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I have some important stuff on there that I need to use. I don't want to back up my data and reinstall.

If you are referring to photo albums no you can't create them on the iPad with the current iOS software. You could not do it on the iPad original either as stated above.
You can purchase third party apps that allow you to do so. One app that I know of is called Photo-Sort. I am sure there are others available in the app store if you care to search.

Create Directory Doesn't Work!!! (stupid computers, mumble grumble)

Ok, so maybe I'm an ass.... but this rather simple section of code to dynamically create a timestamped directory if it's not there, and not create it if it is, doesn't work. I can't understand why it doesn't, but it doesn't. Can someone please help me out, I've written a huge super complex imaging program and finished it this past sunday only to have the very last problem in the software be with this stupid save file routine!

When I run your VI on my Mac, I get a File not Found error from the File/Directory Info function. That error is fed into the New Directory function, which probably prevents it from running. I think the same thing will apply to other OSes, but I am not sure.
Try putting a probe on the error in line inside the case structure and see what you get.

You'll find some good video tutorials with these Google searches:
(search Google for these terms without quotes)
* indesign paragraph styles tutorial

* InDesign paragraph styles in table of contents tutorial
The simple principle is: InDesign creates a TOC by "pulling out" heading paragraphs from your document. To help it know which paragraphs are the headings you want in the TOC, you need to create paragraph styles, and apply them to the heading paragraphs. Then, when you perform Layout > Table of Contents, you choose the heading paragraph styles, and run the process.
It may be daunting if you've never done anything like this. But, if you've done it in MS Word or other word processor, the principle is the same - make the headings identifiable in some way, so the software can extract them.
Look at the video tutorials, create a heading paragraph style, create a TOC, and let us know the result.
If your document is one of several that are gathered into an InDesign book, search Google for terms like "working with InDesign books tutorial," and "InDesign book table of contents tutorial," without quotes.
It would help if you can provide screen shots of your result. Search Google for terms like "how to create a screen shot on mac," or "how to create a screen sot on windows," without quotes. It also helps to display hidden characters when you make the screen shots. Search Google for terms like "how to display InDesign hidden characters," without quotes. Search Google for terms like "how to post a screen shot on an adobe user forum," without quotes.

The left column always shows unless you choose 'hide sidebar' in the Finder View menu drop down options and, on mine, it shows two items on my desktop - the new folder and a previously created folder.

Need to create stupid proof templates for non-designers

Ok folks, I'm new to this forum having come across it in search of a solution to my problem.
I need to create illustrator template files (.ai not .ait) that customers can download and use to create their own artwork for print. I have to create them in every printable paper format from business cards to A3 posters, folding, non-folding yada yada.
Now, previously, we used an .ai file with a guide layer we created. This guide layer had all relevant info, was named accordingly. It was set not to print and locked. As I tend to use print to file, distiller and all, this has always been perfectly adequate to create my pdfs. Of course, this doesn't work the same way when saving a pdf, which is what most people do. However, customers who wish to download the templates are having some difficulty with the concept of 'make sure you delete the guide layer before saving your pdf'.
For the most part, the customers using these files are not illustrator literate. Even though there are clear instructions to 'delete' the guide layer when saving the needed pdfs, they are failing to do so. This means when the .ai (with the non printable layer) is saved to pdf, the guide layer as a hidden object is saved within the pdf. Upon printing at our printing facilities, the guide layer has been printed with disasterous results.
A possible solution we came up with was to use the ruler guides to create the guide layer. For this solution to work though, I need to be able to use different colours for different guides within the same document. Which we can't. We can only change all the guide colours and they are all the same colour.
Another idea would be to outline text indicating various printable and non-printable areas and making them into guides via View>guides>make guides, which works to an extent but looks messy, especially when viewing the full page and again, isn't particularly distinctive, leading back to having different guides in different colours.
I've come across another possible solution involving template layers. Viewing the resulting pdf seems fine and in all purposes it does what we need, except for when reopening the saved (not printed) pdf back in illustrator, the template layer is still there and I need it gone. The same way it would be if the .ai were printed to postscript and sent through distiller.
My ideal solution would be to have to ability to have the different coloured ruler guides in place throughout my document, but as I previously stated, all guides have to be the same colour and that's useless in this instance.
So, has anyone got any bright ideas. Coincidentally I need to create the same templates for both psd and indesign but I'll cross that bridge when I've figured this out.

1. Not a chance, if, even when the process is described in great detail in an info pdf, available as info on the website (with screenshot instructions) and mentioned in the .ai file itself, they aren't even deleting the guide layer, then turning off 'Preserve illustrator editing capabilities' is kind of a stretch. Like I said, the folks these templates are to be designed for are not illustrator literate for the most part.
2. Not sure if this would work. I'd have to look into it.
3. Beyond my capabilities. I'll let you know if number 2 works.
One possible solution I've come up with uses the idea of a template layer always on top, with 'DELETE THIS LAYER' and screenshot of layers pallette and clear little red arrows etc. If I can the template layer to always remain on top, with their artwork layer underneath, they would have to toggle hide/unhide to view their artwork, and the reminder to remove the guide layer would be pretty much in their face. That's not a guarantee either though.
Personally, I think what I've been asked to achieve is a pretty hard task and honestly, I'm thinking there are no failsafe options.

Hello, I need help creating a new integer array that contains exactly one of each element a different array.
My original array is called co[]
lets say it has the values: 1213445232
I want my new array called classArr[]
for example, it would end up being: 12345
my integer array is called classArr[]. and i want it to store exactly one of each element from the co[] array. Here is my code. It compiles without errors, but I get out of bounds exception when i run it.

set right.Well, without seeing the initialization I doubt I can help you. Try to figure out if it is classArr[temp] or co[k] that causes the exception. (Hint: put them on two different lines.)
