Stupid Expansion Card question

I bought a 1g expansion card and put it in my Centro, but now I am not able to get it out.  Can someone please tell me how to get the thing back out so I can add some mp3's to it?
Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
You should be able to push it back in and it will pop out. It's spring loaded. So went you insert it it stays, then when you push it in again it pops out. If it's still not coming out, ummm... ummm... that's tough. Did you put it in the wrong way??

  • Stupid Graphics Card Question

I have in my hands a new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
In my MAC at home I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT
Will I be able to run both cards at the same time? Or am I looking at there not being enough power to run both video cards? I am not concerned about SLI, I just want to be able to run at least 4 monitors between the 2 cards.

Even if its a PC 285, injectors are looking very promising. And this is for all series 2XX. Also not as much of a hassle as using 4890 injector. (no change to card after os updates)
    If interested, read up here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=707745
Since the 285 uses 2 aux ports, the only other option to run the 8800gt is an extra psu in lower optical or extra external psu (not as elegant). Or you can try powering from with the lower optical bay molex. Most people are against this method...truthfully I would be hesitant too. However, I have seen a handful of people running this setup with no problems so far.

  • Expansion card for Zire 31+ the file pdb.

    Dear Madam/Sir.
I own a palm one handheld Zire 31 and I purchase an SD expansion card of 2.0 GB witch should fit, but my handheld does not recognize the card, what should I do? my second question is it necessary to download the file with the pdb suffix in order to add any Software? Thanks and best regards Gidi.
    Post relates to: Zire 31

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
A 2GB expansion card will probably not work in the Zire 31.  That model is limited to 1 GB cards.  You might want to review this thread on the subject.
A .pdb file is a data file, whereas a .prc is an application file.  What exactly are you referring to?

  • Expansion Card

I received a new Zire 31 as a gift recently and realized my expansion card from my old Tungsten E, although it fits in the slot, does not work.  How can I listen to my songs again?  Thanks for your advice.

What size is the SD card? The Zire 31 is too old (2004) to recognize any of the larger SD cards currently available formatted with FAT32. It will only recognize cards formatted with FAT16, and limits the card to 1G I believe if my memory serves correctly. Remember when this device was being sold the largest SD cards generally available were 512M.
The other question is do you have a media player on this device to play audio files?

  • KT4 Ultra: conflict w/ expansion cards

This is my first post, so please be gentle. I recently built new PC for photo editing and want to keep this old KT4 Ultra computer for general usage right beside. Both are running Windows XP Home SP3.
My KT4 computer had HDD crash and after replacement and fresh istallation of XP I initially had following expansion cards inside:
USB Expansion card (w/ 4 USB ports) on Slot 2 (INT B#)
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC on Slot 3 (INT D#)
Terratec EWX 24/96 Sound Card on Slot 6 (INT C#)
Everything was OK until I wanted a LAN connection for sharing of files (mostly) and Internet (via cable modem) between these two. Instead of a broadband wired router I opted for a Gigabit Ethernet card installing it on slot 5 (INT B#).
USB Expansion card (w/ 4 USB ports) on Slot 2 (INT B#)
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC on Slot 3 (INT D#)
D-Link DGE-528T Gigabit Ethernet Adapter on Slot 5 (INT B#)
Terratec EWX 24/96 Sound Card on Slot 6 (INT C#)
Somehow didn't want to have it on slot 1, so close to video card. Unfortunately after this the sound card was dropped by the system, a yellow question mark in Device Manager.
Further I failed to instal my Bluetooth Dongle which I earlier had used succesfully for communication to my mobile phone. Now my Broadcom USB Bluetooth Device is put under Unknown in Device Manager.
I did experience problems with the sound card several years ago in this very same PC. That time I knew little about system and BIOS setting and had to use another PC for audio purposes (digitalizing of tapes and vinyl).
As reference I used the PCI Interrup Request Routing table, found on page 2-32 in KT4's manual. Funny thing is that Sandra XI tells now that my two Ethernet cards having both INT pin A# while by their slots they should be B# and D#. I don't have true understanding what this means though. In BIOS the PNP/PCI Configurations has all slot IRQs on Auto.
Is this conflict easily cured by re-positioning card(s) on other slot(s) or addressing IRQ settings manually, and if so how and in which order? Or should I remove all the cards and install them in certain order...?
I'm quite exhausted as I had some component issues with my new PC and now this KT4 once again rejects my sound card. Maybe I'm better off by installing it on my new PC, but then this failure with Bluetooth dongle, (which I put on the USB port of KT4, not on the USB exp. card.) Oh my, why can't sound card and ethernet card live together!?!
I would appreciate your help very highly.

Hope you get things like you want them!
Eh, made this in 2003, but I'm not sure if it isn't more confusing than anything else:
"The use and sharing of IRQs aren't mentioned in my MSI manual, (due to the APIC function I think), so I had to go to some ASUS manuals. As standards are standards, I believe things can't be to different. If someone has any addings or suggestions please come forward, so I can adjust the table.
*Please note that this is generally speaking and mainly for ASUS boards a few years old!
**Please note that you should not have any sharing with the IDE controller or similar!
***Please note that it is a good thing to have expansion PCI sound cards in slot 3!
****Please note that surprisingly enough it looks like PCI slot 2 would be free for any device, but AGP cards get hot and bigger so it is not a great idea.
    IRQ sharing table
PCI 1 shares with PCI slot 5
2 shares with AGP and PCI slot 6, or sometimes with onboard IDE
3 shares not, or sometimes with onboard audio/modem
    4 shares with onboard LAN
    5 shares PCI slot 1
6 shares with AGP and PCI slot 5
AGP slot shares with PCI slots 5 and 6
USB 1 shares with USB 2, 3 and USB 2.0
    2 shares with USB 1, 3 and USB 2.0
    3 shares with USB 1, 2 and USB 2.0
    USB 2.0 shares with USB 1, 2, and 3
Onboard audio/modemshares not, or sometimes with slot 3
Onboard LAN shares with PCI slot 4
Onboard IDE shares not, or sometimes with PCI slot 2 "
Normally it is best to let Windows or whatever OS you run do the job. Setting IRQ:s yourself is a (too) big assignment.

  • Palm centro does not recognzie the expansion card

I have a Palm Centro (verizon). I tried using a 4GB SDHC expansion card. When it is inserted into the phone the following message is display: "The startup application for this card cannot be run".  I tried using a 128mb SD card but got the same result.  Could this be related to something defective within the phone or am I missing something in the setup?

There isn't anything in the top right of the display. There is, however, a greyed out depiction of a sd card on the screen. When I select it, it goes to a different screen with a greyed out icon of a SD card with a plus sign. When I select the sd icon it displays the default pictures on the palm and/or displays the following message: "Unable to preform this task because there is no media or media is protected". When I select the home key to back out of the screen, I get a screen asking to install Wireless Sync. Email. This is getting weirder by the minute. I have a 30 day window to try the phone, and I'm thinking this thing is a bit too quirky for me.

  • Expansion Cards any particular order¿ KT4V

Im trying to pinpoint why my system hangs once ina while,, I have a hunch its the order of my expansion cards,, heres my current setup
    Starting with AGP
AGP slot Asylum 256mb GeForce 5200 nvidia chipset "primary monitor"
1st PCI PCTV Card Pinnacle systems
2nd PCI Silicon Image Sil680 ATA/133 "primary channel=storage hard drive mostly multimedia content" "secondary channel=dvd-rom drive"
    3rd Voodoo3 3dfx graphics card "secondary monitor"
4th Sound Blaster pci 128 sound card
    5th Creative Modem Blaster V.92 DI5631
6th OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 FireWire Pinnacle systems
I dont know for sure but I am quessing I can put my expansion cards in a better sequence on the PCI bus, on my old mainboard I know I had a different order than I do now but I didn't pay attention when I pulled the cards was excited to get MSI mainboard setup,,  I know the the 1st and 6th pci slots share ther same IRQs thats why I used the PCTV card 1st it is IRQ shared compatible, only when you are viewing TV not Capturing, so I felt that I would never capture from TV card and Firewire "on 6th PCI slot" at the same time,,,  My main concern "or question" I have is the Sil680 PCI ATA/133, it should be placed accordingly so it doesn't ever hang up or conflict with the other expansion cards,, when my system hangs its always when it accesses one HD to the Other ,, main HD on primary channel mainboard and 2nd HD on primary channel Sil680 ,, this might not be my problem but any information on this would be greatly appreciated,  I am trying to gain a better understanding of the PCI bus and card placement order, besides the IRQs So I can continue with my process of elimination and eventually solve my problem,, Thank You For Your Time In Reading This,,,,

  • Best internal SATA expansion card?

    Two quick questions:
    1. What is a good (and simple) PCI(e) expansion card to add 4 internal SATA connectors to the mother board? I had been using an Adaptec 1405 SAS-SATA card that doesn't want to work after my recent clean installation. During boot up, the Adaptec BIOS discovers the connected devices (that had been formatted and used with the same card till last Thursday, before the recent OS reinstallation) but the computer can't see them. BTW, I do not have a driver, but according to Adaptec, I do not need it if I do not want to connect boot disks to this card (that I never wanted to do anyway). Any advice?
2.(Not) completely unrelated: Windows 7 64-bit Pro fails restore operations (Error message: 0x80070005 - that's one reason why I had to do a complete reinstallation). My suspicion is BitDefender AV Pro 2011. There are several comments about this problem on the Internet, and not only with BD AV 2011 but with other AV software, also. Windows error message after the failed restore operation also mentions anti virus programs (even if they are disabled during the operation) as possible culprits. Any insight/advice?
    Thanks for any comment, Laci.

Hi Bill (and others who could help...),
By the suggestions of this thread, I installed the Areca ARC-1300-4i storage controller a few weeks ago. Easily installed the driver, and everything showed up in the Device Manager, the Disk Management and in (My) Computer. (2x 2 TB HDDs and 2x LG optical drives are connected to it.) No problem with the HDDs, and no problem with reading from the optical drives (or playing movies, etc.).
However, I run into a big problem when I wanted to write (burn) on the optical drives! I was trying out some burner software but nothing seemed to work: Windows Explorer froze and I had to hard reboot the system a few times. I have used "Nero micro" before without any problem to read and write with the Adaptec expansion card (which went bad and I replaced with this Areca card).
I removed all the third party burner software (Revo is an excellent tool!), and tried Windows 7's native burning application: it also messed up Windows Explorer (hard reboot again...).  When I connected one of the LG optical drives directly to the mother board's SATA 3.0 Gb/s port (see attachment): voil'a, everything works just fine.
I am contacting the Areca technical support tomorrow, and will report their input. Still, since it might be some deeper problem with the whole system, I would greatly appreciate if anybody would give me any idea what to try - short of reinstalling the operating system (again...) - which might be necessary after the many restore/restart operations during the Adaptec card replacement with the Areca card a few weeks ago.
    Thank you,
    Laci
    P.S.
Adaptec is exchanging the bad Adaptec card with a brand new card (Adaptec 1405 SAS/SATA Controller), may be I will use that card after all...
The attached Intel Matrix Storage Consol shows the situation when one of the optical drive is directly connected to port 5 on the mother board.

  • Palm m505 won't recognize an expansion card

I have a Palm m505 with a mystery ebook expansion card that came with it. I insert it properly but hear no system sound. When I tap on the card icon, it says that there is no card inserted. I have not installed the Palm desktop, just trying out the unit. Why is this happening?. Also I want to get an sd card, will a photo type sd card be ok, also what is the megabyte limit the m505 will accept?  I am not much of a techie so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks, Ken.

You might want to try the File Manager update:
    http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/m-series/m500/unlocked/solutions/article/48335_en.html
This fixed a formatting problem with cards larger than 128 megs.
Do you have a card reader on your computer that will read the card?  It might just be defective!
Good luck finding a store that will work on a legacy Palm product!

  • Quick install - hot sync games to device not expansion card

Can I get quick install to hot sync pinball game directly to device instead of expansion card?
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

Yes, very easy to do!  In Quick Install, you are presented with two windows - the upper one is for tranferral to the Device, the bottom for the card.
I'm hazarding a guess here that the game you are trying to install is refusing to go to the device, correct?  If so, you may be trying to install a game for another OS, or the download is a compressed file (.zip or .exe).  Compressed files have to be unpacked on your computer first to get the Palm OS files (.prc or .pdb).
Once the files have been extracted from the zip, you can then double-click on them to send them to Quick Install.

  • Audigy Platinum EX expansion card/external drive prob

I have used this card for home studio recording and gaming for a while with no problems. I recently built a new PC and now cannot get the external dri've or expansion card to work. The sound card works otherwise. Games, CD, wave files, and plugs on back of card work correctly. I just cannot get the any input through the external dri've to work. All connections have been checked and double checked. The card has been uninstalled and reinstalled both physically and through device manager. Drivers have also been uninstalled and reinstalled.
    Help.

    Marcos69,
Are you getting a red light in the optical out port on the EX dri've? If not it may be that the power lead connected to the card itself is not working. You may want to try another one if possible. Gi'ven the double checking that you have already done, if this doesn't help then you may have a dead dri've. You can contact support to arrange a repair if needed.
