Stupid ipod!

I downloaded an album from itunes yesterday. When I put the album on my ipod, the songs downloaded twice. One song plays and the other one doesnt. On my ipod, it doesnt give me the option to delete it, but the other songs do. When I plug my ipod into itunes and try to manage my music from there, the songs on my list dont come up twice. How do I delete the songs that wont play from my ipod?

Yes.... I have. none worked. Ok this is weird. After about 20 minutes of inactivity unplugged I can use the ipod, listening wise, but it freezes on some certain songs, but I still cannot get the computer to see the ipod even when I have it on. I plug it in then it has the DO NOT DISCONNECT picture. But it freezes. it just stays on, the clock froze and it doesnt flash.
How can I get it to run work so the computer can recognize it. I looked at all the support pages for the Wont show on iTunes article. Is there ANYTHING else???

  • I get that stupid ipod service error

you no that stupid ipod service error that you get when itunes is messed up and your ipod dosent update your songs well I got that

The following is taken from a thread a few lines down. This technique worked for me.
It was originally posted by Phrehnck:
The recent iTunes update seems to have left many users iTunes installation from correctly detecting and synchronizing with their iPods. This problem seems to occur when the iPodService files are not updated when iTunes is updated to version 5.
    Steps to resolve the problem:
    1) Click "Start" | "Run..." | type in "net stop ipodservice"
    | click "OK"
    2) Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\iPod\bin"
    3) Run the iTunesSetup.exe installer. It will probably prompt you to either "Repair" or "Remove" iTunes. Choose "Repair" and click on next or finish.
    Optional Step 4) Click "Start" | "Run..." | type in "C:\progra~1\iPod\bin\ipodservice.exe /service"
    | click "OK"
    Optional Step 5) Restart Computer
If these steps do no resolve the problem, please dont flame me=X
This is not a problem with Windows XP but with the iTunes installer=)

  • How come I buy music and can't get it on this stupid ipod

How come half my music is in that stupid cloud goofy thing and i can't get the music i bought to go on my ipod?

Well, your post is not going to get you any help since it does not specifically describe your problem. Since both the iPod and iCloud are "stupid" and we aren't certain why, there is little we can do to help you. Perhaps taking some time to read the user manual would be helpful:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/
Also, maybe reading up a bit on iCloud would also help:

  • Stupid IPOD-fling look at it fly!

i just bought my first ipod nano and im about to chuck out the window. it would not recognize some 100 songs i tried to put onto it but took the others fine i began buying singles from itunes and down loading my own cds. i went to charge it today and i took another 100 songs off even ones i paid for through them. does anyone know how to get these songs back on my ipod? they are still in my library on my pc. sorry stupid question for many of you but im finding out iam not as computer literate as i thought i was, having said that is this something i can do on my own or do i need to drive 200 miles to my brother the itunes "genius" thank you for any advice you can give me.

Try this: Start iTunes, go to the Store menu on top and Deauthorize your computer. Now play one of the songs that you purchased from iTunes that won't sync to your iPod and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password. Resync your iPod.

Same problem here, but can't get through to 5 songs. Only reason I updated was to dload videos from iTunes, since it won't with v. 1.1.1 ( I mean can't dload purchased videos from iTunes store. Ones that I converted transfer ok in v 1.1.1)
Can't restore through iTunes, have to do it through the updater. Restored, worked fine until I updated to v 1.2 again. iPod is useless now.
    Any ideas?

*I would like to know how to add videos and pictures*
For adding videos, have a look at this guide: Syncing Videos to iPod
*I mainly just need to know how to add pictures.*
When you say pictures do you mean photographs or album artwork? Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
On a smaller device like the Nano I would tend to leave the "Include Full Resolution photos" box unchecked as these will take up a lot of space on the iPod and are only useful if you want to copy photos from one computer to another. iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view.
To add album artwork, first of all make sure your iPod is enabled to show the artwork:
    1. Connect your iPod to your computer
    2. Click on the iPod icon when it appears the iTunes Source pane to bring up the preference tabs.
    3. Select the Music tab of the iPod settings. The iPod settings are displayed to the right in the main iTunes window.
    4. Select the "Display album artwork on your iPod" check box.
    5. Click Apply to save the changes. The iPod begins to update as soon as Apply is clicked.

  • Stupid iPod mini's!

Alright here's the deal...When I had connected my iPod mini to charge the battery, a dialog box came up, and it read that I needed to update software blah blah blah...so I did. I even updated iTunes. The whole sha bang bang...Well, now my iPod mini doesn't work, lost all my songs on it. iTunes doesn't have it on the source list. When i go to edit, preferences, iPod tab, it says iPod not connected. ***?? AND it doesn't stop there. I had to reboot, reinstall quicktime, deleted itunes 6, and had to reinstall it from the cd that came with the package. So when I open iTunes a dialog box comes up and it says: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." Whoa...how much more of this crap do I have to go through just to listen to my songs?
Never again will I purchase any CRAP from apple!

Can't see your iPod in iTunes: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61771
Does your iPod even turn on? I believe once your iPod is recognized in your iTunes you can download all your songs back into it, as long as they are in your iTunes of course. Try to re-install iTunes again.
I don't understand why so many people have problems with updates, I got an iPod Nano and a Mini; never as of today have I ever had a problem with either one.

  • Stupid Ipod Question

I'm not very good at explaining this, so hopefully it will be coherent. I have a 30GB ipod that randomly deleted all of the songs while I was in iTunes. However my ipod says that there is 7.2 GB stored on it. So my question is, am I so out of luck or is there a way to "find" the songs"?
Thanks in advance for any input or help.

  • My stupid ipod won't let me put top rated into a playlist :(

So last night my mac book crashed while my ipod was plugged in and I lost all my music. I've got it all back on now (well most of it) but beforehand, if I was listening to a song on my ipod, I could rate it and if it had 4+ stars it would automatically go into a playlist called "My top rated" but now there's absolutely no playlists on my ipod (even though I've rated some of the songs on my mac) so I created a playlist, but when I go on my ipod and give something 5 stars, it won't go on to the playlist like it used to... What the **** is happening and how do I fix it? I miss being able to rate songs and have them automatically go into a playlist from my ipod

    Hi KiwiAddy!
It sounds like you had a smart playlist set up previously on your iPod. You will just need to recreate this smart playlist with the same rules as you had previously. We have an article that can help you complete this task, and it is found here:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Create a Smart Playlist
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12341
iTunes 11 for Mac: Create a Smart Playlist

You will also want to make sure that your iPod is updated with the latest software to ensure functionality. Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Stupid ipod won't restore.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hi,
i dont know why... i plugged in my itunes supposedly to format it to windows version because i went to the apple store and when they fixed a problem, they used a mac; so they told me to go back and reformat it.. (using ipod updater) so i got home and plugged the ipod on and it failed!! it wont update OR restore! after that, the ipod shows nothing but a white screen saying "plug ipod to computer. use itunes to restore" or something like that. and when i do, it doesnt work! it says that it fails!!!!!!! the ipod doesnt show up on itunes or anything. i set it to disk mode to try and it still is the same thing. i also reinstalled itunes and ipod updater and it still doesnt seem to wanna behave. i cant get my ipod to function or do anything but sit still!!!!
    please help.
    thank you so so much!!!
ipod video 60 GB   Windows XP   white

I, too, am having troubles restoring my G5/video iPod. First, iTunes indicated that my iPod was running 'an old version' and to run iPod Updater to update it (even though I had run updater a month or so before). Then, my iPod would not play music that I bought from iTunes (skipped over them w/o playing).
1 - I tried clearing these songs from the iPod and restoring them, but they still would not play. (Some of the playlists that I changed on my PC won't sync properly with my iPod either - on the iPod, the playlists are the old/unchanged ones).
2 - I tried resetting my iPod (hold the middle button and menu button to restart). No change in behavior.
3 - I ran the latest iPod Updater 6-28-2006? but that didn't solve my problems. I still couldn't play my recent iTunes music. (I think I could still play music that I bought a few months ago, though).
4 - As a last resort, I used the iPod Updater to RESTORE my iPod, which caused my PC to freeze, requiring a reboot. Now, my iPod shows a b&w message "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to Restore" when it starts up, and when I connect it to my computer it shows a different "Do not disconnect" screen (smaller, b&w 'not' sign). iPod Updater does not recognize my iPod any more, although my PC shows "Removable Disk" in the Drives list.
5 - I stopped the iPod.exe process and I tried to format the iPod under M$ Windows, as suggested, but the format dialog won't let me. The iPod Updater application tries to run but fails with a "disk write failure".

  • ITunes closes while updating iPod

Everytime I hook up my iPod mini to update it, iTunes closes and Windows asks to send an error report. Yeah. I need help. It's not the iPod. I tried it on my friend's PC and it loaded songs on the iPod just fine. (I'm now stuck with an iPod full of pop music...) I've reinstalled iTunes like twice and I don't know what to do next.
(iTunes works fine until I hook the stupid iPod up...)

I am having the same problem and it did not start until after I updated to the latest version. Can anybody help?
