Stupid photo stream question, but..

all my iPhone photo's appeared on my desk tops iPhoto via photo stream until 2nd Sept. Then it all stopped. What happened? what should I be using to ensure my iPhone photo's are backed up to my desktop?
Thanks
Wayno

What happened right before September 2?
Did you update any software? Which version of iPhoto are you using? Which MacOS X version?
Which iOS version are you using on your iPhone?
To ensure, that photos are downloaded from your iPhone to your mac, connect it to a USB port, and then open iPhoto. Import all new photos and videos. Videos will not download via My Photo Stream anyway.
Check the settings for My Photo Stream on all devices as described in this document:
iCloud: My Photo Stream troubleshooting
The photo stream will only upload, if the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, the Camera.app has been closed and is not running in the background, and the iPhone is properly charged.

    Shared photo stream questions
Camera Roll (CR), Photo Stream (PS)
If I create a shared PS and share it with a friend, is this temporary like the main PS (most recent 1000 images)?
For example, if I put one photo in a shared PS and then take 1000 new photos (but I don't add it to the shared PS), presumably it will disappear from my main PS, but will the original photo disappear from the shared PS, too?
I noticed that each month I have a new monthly event titled, for example, "August photo stream", etc. Are these temporary, too? If I take 1000 photos in September, will the August PS event start to lose images, or will this only occur in the main PS section?
Apple's web site says "iCloud stores new photos for 30 days, so you have plenty of time to connect your iOS device to Wi-Fi and make sure you always have your most recent shots handy." What does this mean? If I take a photo on iPhone it's permanently in CR (until I sync with iTunes on OS X and then iPhoto offers to remove them from CR), but they're also in PS, which is temporary, right? If so, as long as CR is permanent, how big an issue is the 30 day rule?
    Here's where I'm (further) confused...
On iPad, my PS section (the tab on bottom) only has 30, relatively recent photos. Each photo was taken with iPhone.
However, on iPhone, my PS section has 547 images. Some of these were taken as screen shots from iPad (even though they're not on iPad's PS??) Some of the images were "Save As... "  image files from OS X, some were photos imported to desktop iPhoto from a camera. Many of the images were taken years ago. On desktop iPhoto, I have over 3000 images, but the images on iPhone's PS do not appear to be the most recent 1000 images imported to iPhoto.
So why did iPad's screen shots disappear from iPads PS yet appear on iPhone's PS?
Why aren't the two iOS device's PS sections the same?
Is this confusing to everyone, or am I just dense?
    Thanks!

You are most likely using the same apple id under settings>iCloud. If you just want to stop the photo sharing you can open settings>iCloud and turn off photostream. If you want to keep using photostream and still not share you need to set up an alternate apple id to use under settings>icloud

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo.

  • Photo Stream question!

Is that Photo Stream works just wifi connection?
i think take a picture on my iphone and my photo will be streaming through my cellular data connection to my home located ipad. but i'm going on wifi coverage places my phono immediatly streamed, not works through cellular data!

On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your Photo Stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections."

I'm not sure where this question ought to be posted, so I apologize if its the wrong section.
In anycase, I wish to know how to erase a photo on photo streaming.
    Thanks!

To get the photos on another devices you either have to share them or both have to be using the same iCloud account.
What do you think share means?

  • Specific Photo Stream questions

I was wondering if there was any way I could make the pictures I take on my iphone automatically go into a shared photo stream, in addition to the one it already goes into automatically that sync's with all my devices. Any help would great! Thanks!

Not directly from the iPhone, to my knowledge. But perhaps someone on the iPhoto forum can help you.

  • Photo stream questions

Everyone in my family has an iPhone five, however, when I take a picture, it ends up in not only my camera roll, but the photo stream that, for some reason my sister has access to on her device, and vice versa. We both find this bothersome, and are wondering how to fix it. Additionally, I was wondering if anybody knew what happens when you delete a photo from your camera roll... Is it automatically deleted from the photo stream? What about when you delete a photo from photo stream?

  • TS4036 I did a restore on my wife's iPhone 4 after I backed it up and when the restore was done all of her pictures were gone they weren't back up and I had photo stream on but I can't find the pics any where how can I get the pics back that we're lost

How do I find lost pictures after a back up and restore when iCloud was turn on and logged in and photo stream was on but pictures did not down load please help

iOS: How to back up - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Backed-up information includes purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files synced from your computer aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
Photostream only stores photos from the camera roll for 30 days.

  • ICloud/iPhone 4S Photo Stream question

How do I delete individual photos in Photo Stream album which were taken by my iPhone 4S (with iCloud switched on)?

You can't delete individual photos from the Stream with today's iOS version (rumor is that the next verson will allow this - we'll see).  You have to log into iCloud.com and in there disable Photo Stream.  Then remove Photo stream from each device (go to settings), then turn iCloud's photo stream again, as well as each device.

  • Camera Roll/Photo Stream Questions

A few CR/PS Questions. I have automatic transfer to PS enabled on iPhone 4S, husband's iPhone5 and iMac all using same appleID/iCloud account.
    1) When I edit a picture in a camera roll and save it, the edited version (which is the one I want) does not show up in PhotoStream. Any way to make this happen?
    2) If I take a bad picture and delete it from CR, it still shows up in PS. Do I have to delete it from BOTH CR and PS separately or is there a way to do this simultaneously? Additionally, is there a time frame in which I can delete from CR before it shows up in PS?
    3) PS Events on iMac: Once created (April 2013 for example), can I split and create my own events without fearing the pics will ever be deleted from iMac?
    4) Is there ever any time there is an advanatge to editing a picture in PS vs CR on an iOS device?

re: 1, I typically don't edit photos from within the Photo app, but I tried a couple things just now.
If I edit an existing photo in CR which has previously been uploaded to PS, then the CR version gets replaced with the edited version but that does not get pushed to PS.
If I disconnect from Wi-Fi and take a new photo and then edit it in CR, then once I get back on Wi-Fi the edited version does get pushed to PS.  Not the best workaround, but it works.
Alternatively, if I use a 3rd party editor (e.g. Photo Toaster) to edit an existing photo in CR which has previously been uploaded to CR, then the edited version is saved in CR and gets pushed to PS.  This may be the better way to do your editing since it seems that the native Photo app does not accomplish what you want.

Try signing out and back in to the iCloud control panel.

  • Question on sharing photos thru photo stream

Hello, guys. I love doing photography and have many friends who I want to share photos with. I use aperture mostly to do processing and photo orgnization. I know how to share photos with other people who have apple ids thru photo stream. But I have friends who do not have apple ids. Is it possible to open my shared photos to public, so everyone can view it? I could do it with mobileme and it was great in terms of sharing. Does photo stream in icloud have the similar feature? Thank you!

    I quote:
'Sharing a photo stream is an easy way to keep the important people in your life up to date with your latest photos. Invitees, who must have an iCloud account to join the photo stream, can view, “like,” and comment on your photos from any device set up with Photo Stream. Those invitees without an iCloud account are sent a link to a webpage to view the shared photos; however, they cannot comment on the photos.'
    (my emphasis); and from here:
'Invitees who don’t have iCloud accounts can view a shared photo stream only if you enable the Public Website option in your shared photo stream settings.'
As another option, iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with the old MobileMe Gallery. Apple have provided a sample album here.

  • Subscribers upload to my photo stream

I have shared photos on Photo Stream and my subscribers and friedns would like to add photos. How can they do that?

Thanks BobbyD. I had already checked that page but following the links led me nowhere….the page that might have the answer does not load in response to the question:
"Can my friends and family add photos or videos to a shared stream that I created?
Yes, if you allow it. When editing your photo stream to add or remove subscribers, you can turn on the option to allow subscribers to add to your shared stream. Subscribers can contribute photos and videos to your shared stream if they have an iCloud account and a compatible device with up-to-date software."
I learned how to add or remove subscribers, but not how to allo them to add photos to my shared photo stream! But, thanks for you reply!
