Stupid question before I take the time to learn to do this

We are frustrated with Captivate's quizzes and would like to
do something a little more flashy and maybe not so quirky. But we
need the interactive output to be a single swf file to upload to
our LMS. If I take the time to learn to create flash quizzes, would
the output be a single swf file? These are just reinforcement
quizzes before they take the real tests on the LMS system that will
be recorded. Please say yes.

Yes
Well almost, if you intend to play them over the web then
you'll need an html wrapper.
Which Flash can provide in Publish Settings.
If you intend to play them offline then all you need is the
swf and a Flash Player.
hope it helps

  • Before I take the Plunge ...

I am about to purchase a Mac-Mini 1.66GHZ Intel Core Duo (2gig RAM) with the Apple 20" Cinema Display.
Just a few questions before I take the plunge...
I have been reading endless posts surrounding the GMA950 graphics processor and have a quick question for any Photoshop Users / Digital Photographers.
Will the GMA950 compliment the quality of the display in regards to image quality. I rely on screen quality for photographic work. I don't want to purchase an expensive display to be let down by the Mini.
I also run Aperture on my Powerbook (G4 - 2 gig RAM) and intend installing onto the Mac-Mini. Has anyone tried this as the Mac-Mini is not listed in the official system requirements.
Are any of the Macromedia products (mainly Dreamweaver) Universal apps ....
My only other daily usage would be i-Life, Office for Mac, internet etc ....
So the big question is ... will the Mini live up to the task or will I be better suited to an i-Mac ??
    Replies appreciated
    Jason

    I have a mini (and a macbook).
I use Aperture on my Macbook and for comparison I think the machines are so close I can safely say that the mini can and does run Aperture fine. Yes I understand the GPU is under the specifications of what apple states but they don't prohibit from running.
Aperture is one of those applications that really relies on the GPU so performance isn't going to be sellar, but I was pleasently surprised in how it did perform. Its usuable and I use Aperture on my Macbook quite a lot. I have a G5 as my main production machine, but the laptop is used to first hold my images and start editting them.
Here's some Benchmarks that I came across in Macnn. While the test machine is a Macbook, the specifications are so close to the mini you really can gain some knowledge.
The GMA950 really won't be problem with photoshop, its only 3d rendering and core video that the performance starts lagging (when compared to the higher end GPUs) and as I already mentioned I was pleasantly surprised.
I typically shoot in RAW mode, Depending on what I'm doing upload 100 to 500 images into Aperture, do some basic exposure, white balancing and other editing before I export the project.
If your asking would an iMac perform better, well the answer is yes and would your money be better spent on the iMac, I'd also say yes. Would the mini be up to the task, yes it would but you should always go by the old addage, get as much computer as you can afford. The iMac has a superior GPU and you setting youself up for the future better with the iMac.

  • This is probably a stupid question, but what does the red circle with a number in it mean on iCal? It looks just like the emails notification. I do not have anything do or up in my cal.

This is probably a stupid question, but what does the red circle with a number in it mean on iCal? It looks just like the emails notification. I do not have anything do or up in my cal.

Actually, another person on the "more like this" had the right answer. It meant I had a notification for an invite that I needed to respond to.
Hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

Unfortunately the solution Katie_Bug_88 proposed did not work for me, possibly due to the age of my Imac and its operating system.
However, Diane from the Itunes Store did suggest a solution which has worked, and I give it below for the benefit of others with the same problem. ( With her permission )
    1. Open Safari
    2. At the top menu click on the 'Safari' drop down..
    3. Click on "Reset Safari .."
    4. A Box appears which asks "Are you sure you wish to reset Safari?"
    - Make sure all the boxes are checked, and then click "Reset" at the bottom.
    5. Safari will re-open, Instead of letting it re-open, quit Safari.
    6. After a few moments, try re-opening iTunes  - when the Security "Challenge Questions" re-appear, choose the ones you want to be asked, and answer them, then submit them.  You should be able to do so now.
Thanks to Katie_Bug for trying, hope this is of use to others.

  • My mac is freezing all the time, how can I fix this?

My mac is freezing all the time, how can I fix this?

Run Disk Utility to verify/repair your drive(s).  Boot from your installer dvd to repair the boot drive.  If the repair reports that it fixed anything then see if your problem is fixed.

Trying to download OSX Mountain Lion, but just says waiting all the time? Anyone know what this could be?

You are not specific with your problem or errors but one thing that always throws people off is as follows:
When entering you're login name you must use the entire login with carrier name such as [email protected] The field defults to just your name but not the carrier name.

  • Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?

Can the iPhone have settings profiles?  I want the settings of what apps are using the "call home" automatically set based on my location or the time of day.  Is this possible?  Of course the GPS location feature will need to be on in order for this to work.  But the idea here would be to optimize battery life by disabling the 'call home' requests of apps.  The settings profile should also support downloads as I would like to download and allow it when I am on WiFi but not so much when I am using my cellular data.

No, this is not possible as the sandboxed nature of iOS would not allow any app to modify another app like that. Such a feature would have to be enabled by Apple as a part of iOS itself. You can submit feedback to Apple about the idea if you wish to.

  • I have downloaded iOS 7.1 but now my phone just reboots all the time, how do I fix this?

I have downloaded iOS 7.1 but now my phone just reboots all the time, how do I fix this?

    Hi Will555uk,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is restarting unexpectedly, I recommend starting with step three in this troubleshooting guide:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • Why does siri stop listening so quickly, I cant even finish my question or command half the time before it starts trying to search

Most of the time siri works fairly well, but there are a good amount of times where it just stops "listening" and starts searching. Like ill say Find directions to...and it jumps ahead and starts searching before i can say where i want directions too. ***.

There are a few reasons why siri will stop listening:
    1. It is having problems connecting to the network so can't search for what you are looking for. You are prompted with something like: I am sorry I can't connect right now.
    2. There is a pause when you are dictating something to siri so it assumes you are done. Pauses of about 2 or 3 seconds should do it.
    3. You accidentally press the siri button indicating you are done dictating to siri.
If none of these are the problem, I don't know what else to do. How often is this occuring?

  • Bloody Macs (ok I might buy one) - Few tips before I take the plunge?

Right despite the frankly incredible price of a mac book pro - I have been using a new imac for the past week on a contract up in London and I have been presuaded that it might be a good idea for me to use one considering y line of work...
now before I drop £2K on a new machine there's a few questions I have that I need to confirm before I make the drop in the next few months.
Files: I have a home server that sits on my network with all of my music, video, documents etc. I use my current Vista laptop's sysnc function so that certain network folders are always available offline, when I get back and log on the network everything syncs together seemlessly. Can I still do this easily on the Mac and just have it as a fire & forget process that just happens every time I hit my own network?
3G - I have a 3G Tmobile modem - any issues with these sort of things?
Phone - My Sony Ericsson mobile syncs to the laptop over bluetooth automatically every time I lift the lid. It syncs contacts, to-do and callendar entries from one to the other with no issues at all - can I do this without having to think about it too much on a Mac?
Email - I'm on Office 2007 at the moment with Outlook 2007 as my Mail client, it handles all of my contacts, emails, calendar functions, and, importantly, my Hotmail account (handles it as a folder just like my POP accounts). How does the Mac handle that sort of thing - well?
Transferring emails in my current Outlook?
Keyboards - can you remap them so the right buttons are in the right place rather than this crazy American way?
Now there are a few reasons why I am thinking of shifting so maybe you could give me some advice on these.
1: I am fed up tinkering with software - really I'm too old and busy to be wondering why the bluetooth has suddenly stopped working and I need to restart, or why network folders of images have suddenly stopped showing thumbnails so I have to open each one individually.
2: Speed - I accidentally opened 14 10MP images in fireworks last night, it took over 2 minutes for the laptop to recover (2Ghz, dual core). What would a Mac do?
3: Weight - the current machine is nicknamed 'The Beast' for a good reason, it's not bad at all but I could probably build a house out of them.
    4. sleep - wake time. Vista does a real good job to be hinest of me just shutting the lid and then openng it 10 hours later, I find myself doing it 10 times a day with trains etc. so occasionally I have problems, does the Mac stand up to this sort of abuse?
Thanks for all your help guys - I know there are answers to these things elsewhere - but you lot are all web peoples so your pretty much sitting in the same boat as me
    Cheers

    Files:
Syncing every time you "hit your network" may be a little ambitious. You may need to launch a script to start a sync. I use the UNIX standard rsync command and it works fine. rsync also works on the Linux servers I run, although one "gotcha" is the difference in Mac files. As a result, rsync is a little more complicated going Mac to Mac. There are many other syncing utilities besides rsync, although rsync in built in to the OS as a shell tool.
    3G
Don't know what that is, but I have a T-Mobile Motorola cellphone and I get the cheap $5 per month data access. It is extremely simple to "tether" it to my Mac with Bluetooth or USB and get internet anywhere the cellphone works. Very impressive technology.
    Phone
Don't really know. For me it is a matter of opening iSync and clicking the "Sync Devices" button. That may be too much work for you. Can't tell you abut the calendar.
    Email
MS Office on Mac is identical to Office on Windows... except it looks a whole lot better. There is no prob importing your old emails. I think you'l feel the urge to find better software once you are set up and using Office. I quit using it 2 years ago.
    Keyboards
You can select any keyboard layout you prefer. You should know, however, that the Mac modifier keys are more ergonomically positioned, and it may take some habit-breaking to learn to use them. Whenever I use a Windows keyboard I am astonished at how difficult it is to reach the modifier keys.
    <hr>
1: I am fed up tinkering with software
You are probably going to tinker with software in OSX but it is easier and the Unix system is so much more reliable. There is no "Registry" in Mac OS so praise God for that.
network folders of images have suddenly stopped showing thumbnails
I have disabled network thumbnails since that action is so network-intensive. Read here for more.
    2: Speed
Ouch. I think the Mac would dutifully open the files. Speed would depend on the app. I have also had frustration in this area. I usually resort to the Force-Quit window to quit the app.
    3: Weight
These MBPs are nicely designed, lightweight, compact, durable and beautiful.
    4. sleep - wake time
There are currently (Leopard) some problems with waking on the MBP, especially with an external DVI monitor attached. In 10.4 (Tiger) this system worked perfectly. I think you are OK unless you are using an external monitor.

  • Stupid question, I know, but after years of using Firefox, on this one I can't find the Page Reload icon?? Please help.

In the past, when I want to refresh a page, I've simply gone to the page reload icon on the toolbar. On the new version, I can't fin the reload icon. Sorry I know this is a very stupid question,, but I just can't find that reload icon. The toolbar is a lot different from previous versions, but I'm sure tht pesky icon must be there somewhere!!

    Hi merren,
Not a stupid question at all :) You should take a look at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-upgrading-firefox-36 this article with common questions after upgrading].
You could also benefit from the looking at the article on [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-customize-toolbars customizing the tool bar]. That will show you not only how to verify that you have the refresh button, but give you options on where it lives as well.
    Hopefully this helps!
