Stupid question: how do i get the cursor to move in DWCS4???

yes, dumb question i know. i'm not a web guy at all but have built a couple of sites years ago using an older version of DW. however, i just downloaded the trial of CS4 and everwhere i read it just says simply "place the cursor where you want the text" or object on the page. however, my cursor will not leave the upper left corner no matter what i do. clearly im doing something stupid. it cant possibly be that hard? help?

The "frames" you're referring to are Absolutely Positioned Divs. "Frames" are a very different and out-of-favour tool.
The page is constructed entirely of what used to be called Layers - now called Absolutely Positioned Divs or APDivs for short (weird name but technically more accurate and much less confusing trying to explain to newbies the difference between Layers in DW and Layers in Photoshop and Illustrator).
If all you want to do is move elements arounds on that page, go to Window > AP Elements (F2) and you'll see your APDivs listed in the AP Div panel.
Click on one (or all) of them and drag as desired.
Note: AP Divs are generally a poor method for page layout for many reasons but they'll probably be OK as a very quick and dirty solution for the limited application that you have in mind.

Right now, the only way I can get the cursor to move smoothly (and not in that herky-jerky motion between zero-crossing points or whatever that it defaults to) is by holding down the CTRL key while using the Hybrid tool. Right click on the timescal at the bottom of the waveform display. You will get a drop down box that allows you to change DisplayTime Format, Snapping and Zooming. Go to the Snapping menu and turn on or off those that you want to use.

I want to make a program by which I will be able to display a panel/pops up menu at the corsor's current position, (In any text/doc file or in the desktop, we can display a menu by right click of the mouse.) Now I want my program to do the same task.
More clearly-
1. First I would save some words or sentences in a file(aa.txt).
2. Then I would open another text file/ a word/ excel/ or any other editor( bb.txt / cc.doc / dd.xls / ee.html ).
3. While editing or writing something in the opened file, if I click the right mouse button/ press a key (ctrl+space), a menu will appear containing the sentences I saved in the file(aa.txt) previously.
My program will tell me the cursor's position in bb.txt / cc.doc / dd.xls / ee.html that i opened. And display a menu. my problem is not reading / writing in a file.
My problem is how can I get the cursor's position in a opened file display a menu at that position by a mouse/key action*.
Would you please help me on this regard.

Oh, I see…….when I want something like this to happen I would just engage the >Go To Start< command (0 on the numeric keyboard in my case) and the play head will position at the beginning of a cycle area (if one is active of course)!

Well, one typically doesn't edit with any of the proxy-files the RED camera produces. You need to convert the RED footage to ProRes. Log and Transfer can do this, if you download and install the RED Log and Transfer plugin. Or you might need to use RED software to convert the footage to ProRes. But those Red proxy files won't import via log and transfer, and are NOT editable in FCP. Gotta convert to ProRes.

How can I get the cursor value from a waveform graph

Is there a way to get the value of cursor position on the waveform graph so mathematical calculations be performed on those values. We can see the value in cursor legend, but can we extract those values for future calculations in the block diagram somehow.

Right-click on the waveform graph icon. Select Create>Property Node>Cursor>Cursor Position. That spits out a a xy cluster for the current cursor position.
If you have more than one cursor, you can either set up a loop and set the Active Cursor property node (right click the property node and select "Change to Write") or you can pull everything you ever wanted to know about every cursor with the Cursor List property node.

If its a USB based mouse, try unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in.
If it's a wireless RF mouse, make sure the RF dongle is properly plugged into the USB port. Make sure the mouse is powered on.
If it is a bluetooth mouse, make sure it is properly paired with your Mac (you may need another mouse temporarly to check on this).
And for any wireless mouse, be sure and try clicking the mouse a few times, many have mouse sleep routines to preserve the mouses battery life.

How do I get the playhead to move forward

Hello all - I have simple flash CS4 file (AS3) with a video playback component in a movie clip called "video". The only other thing in this flash movie is a script to load another SWF file as soon as the video is done playing.... I can't seem to figure out how to do this.
If I use stop() on the frame with the video - it will play - but then the playhead will not move forward to the next frame which has the next script and if I leave the stop() off - it plays only a a few frames of the video and moves on to the next frame and executes the script that loads the swf file.
Everything I've read requires a button event - and I don't need a button. I just need the video to play - then the next script to execute.
Here are the only scripts in the flash movie:
