Stupid S4 went blank while surfing.  Will not turn back on.

My stupid S4 went blank while surfing.  Will not turn back on even after charging it.  Used it just over 3 months so I dont think I can return it to Costco.  Do I return it to Verizon or Samsung to get it fixed?  Or Costco?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hey dodie67,
Thanks for the question. Sounds like your iPhone stopped responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input, so you'd want to go through the troubleshooting steps in the following article and see if that resolves the issue:

  • Phone will not turn back on, error 27

Hi, my iPhone 5c shut down randomly and will not turn back on. So, I put it into recovery mode, tried updating to 8.1.2 with iTunes like 10 times. It always gives me, "an unknown error occurred (27)" I really really don't want to return it to factory settings, because I'm an idiot and didn't back it up recently.
    Specs:
    OS X Yosemite
    Version 10.10.1
Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3
    Memory: 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB
Not sure which version my iPhone is on, but I was trying to update it to 8.1.2.
After going through this page, I went through the vast majority of troubleshooting on this page for error 27.
If I need to go to an apple store to fix this, that's fine. I ultimately just don't want to restore it to factory settings.

If you went through the steps in the support document about the error, then the final step is Apple Support.
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
What can you see on the screen? Are you able to use the device? Is it just that you cannot update it? If you did put it into Recovery Mode as you indicated earlier, then you have already lost the data.

  • Wi-Fi turns itself off and will not turn back on

Right, I had to create a new Apple ID just to access the forum, because for some reason the ID I've had since they existed just throws up a "Page Not Found" error when I log in (backsoon/error URL).  That was just the most sour and rotten cherry on this cake...
So, I have a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro, updated to 10.9.5.  For a very long time my bluetooth has been unavailable.  The menubar icon is grey and has the broken bolt through it, the presence pane is missing, and under System Information it finds no hardware.  This was annoying but not particularly problematic, as I rarely if ever use bluetooth.  I only mention this because I know the BT & Wi-Fi board is the same item.
Of late, however, something much more troubling has started occurring.  My Wi-Fi has been giving me the most obnoxious problem I have ever had with a computer.  At a seemingly random interval that has rapidly shortened to at most 30 minutes, sometimes as low as a single minute, the Wi-Fi will turn off without me knowing.  What I mean is, while the menubar icon will still show full strength, all internet apps lose connection.  If I click the icon, the pulldown menu is devoid of all networks (including the one it is supposedly connected to), and does not find any networks after searching.  If I turn the Wi-Fi off (as though to cycle it off-on), it will not turn back on.  If instead of looking at the menubar pulldown, I go into System Preferences, Wi-Fi is listed as "Off" already and it likewise cannot be turned on.
System Information does still show the actual hardware card as existing, unlike the BT card.
The only two changes since this started occurring (though the BT was gone then as well) were switching from a B/G router to an N router, and the October 25th 2014-005 Security Update.  And yes, all our other devices (windows laptop, Yosemite MBP Retina, iPad 1, iPhone 4, 5 & 5S, HP Photosmart which I cannot print to with no wifi) all connect to the Wi-Fi fine.
    So far, I have tried:
    • Removing all the network-associated .plist files.
    • Resetting the PRAM & SMC.
    • Creating a new location in System Prefs with only Wi-Fi in it.
    • Making Wi-Fi inactive and re-activating it in System Prefs.
    • Verified/Repaired Permissions
    • I believe I have verified the drive, but I will try again.
I have not yet tried reinstalling the system, or a clean install.  The reason for this is the same reason I cannot bring the computer to a genius bar (yes, AppleCare is still active).  I cannot be without this computer, I am an engineering student with finals less than a three weeks away, I have projects and homeworks due even across the coming Thanksgiving break.  Luckily it waited until this weekend to become truly infuriating, so I may have a chance to try a reinstall and/or clean install.
Any suggestions further would be greatly appreciated.  I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories, but...  This basically started happening a week after Yosemite came out (which I cannot yet upgrade to because its Java version breaks MatLab, and the workaround is too kludgy for me to use).

This is just like my problem on my 2011 MacBookPro. It drops the wifi connection repeatedly. Sometimes it will reconnect immediately when prompted , sometimes it takes 10 or 20 attempts to login with the router password, continually reporting "incorrect password' until it suddenly connects with that same password!  Sometimes it will then drop that connection within half a minute , sometimes longer. I kept thinking it was a BT internet problem but my iMac, iPad and iPhone all remain connected to the same wifi with no problems. The iMac is also running Yosemite 10.10.1 .  I understand this is a known problem. When will Apple release a fix??

  • IPod will not turn BACK ON!  Cold weather?

My iPod will not turn back on. I left it in a cold car for a few days while I was at my family's house, and the battery must have died while I was there. I came home and plugged it in, but it wouldn't charge or turn on. Help!!

Try sending it to the itunes store because when i left my ipod in a car for a few days it worked fine. if you haven't tried the 5 rs try those first.
To reset your iPod nano (2nd generation):
    Reset
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
    Retry
Retry your iPod with a different USB or FireWire port on your computer (please note that the latest iPods can only be synced through USB).
    Restart
Restart your computer, and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.
    Reinstall
To reinstall your iPod nano (2nd generation):
To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest iTunes software.
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer. iTunes will then automatically check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.
To then check the software version on your iPod, select it from the source list in iTunes. iTunes will display the information about your iPod.
    Restore
To restore your iPod nano (2nd generation):
Warning: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library. If you use the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, see this document for more information.
    How to restore your iPod:
Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
After a few moments, it will appear in the Source list in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source list and you will see information about it appear in the Settings tab of the main iTunes windows.
Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

My iphone randomly shut off will not turn back on. it isn't dead, but I even plugged it in for over an hour still nothing. I already tried the home   lock button and that doesn't work either

    Hi there,
You may want to take a look at some of the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Droid 2 Global Shut down and will not turn back on

My D2G shut down earlier today and will not turn back on. I was listening to music and it shut down in the middle of playing.  If i plug it into a charger at first it does nothing (the charging light doesn't even come on), then after a while the backlight will come on, but nothing else happens. I have tried removing the battery. I've tried charging the phone for a few hours (in case the battery was dead) and still it will not power on.  I don't even see the "M" logo screen when i try to power on.
    Anybody have any ideas?

That's very upsetting when the device will not power on. It maybe hardware related so we may need to look at your replacement options. Is there any corrosion where the battery and device connect? Please try the alternative hard reset This will factory reset the device. Please make sure contacts are backed up prior to resetting. If you are still experiencing this issue please PM me and I will gladly further troubleshoot with you.
    Thank you
