Stupid, simple question...I hope

When I want to play the songs in my library, I go to edit and hit select all. All my songs get highlighted but not checked, therefore, only the first song plays. Do I really need to physically check every one of the songs in my library in order to get tham to play??? HELP!!

To add a comment, in general the "normal" state of your library would be for all songs to be checked. It is considered an exception or special when you uncheck tracks in iTunes and would do so for specific purposes like keeping certain songs from syncing to an iPod, to keep songs from playing during shuffle, to keep songs from getting added to smart playlists, etc.

  • TS3356 Simple question I hope! I want to buy a camcorder by JVC but it uses a format called AVCHD. I believe this has to be converted before it can be used on iMovie. Can anyone tell me, in simple language, if this is so and how easy it is?

    I want to buy a new camcorder and am considering one by JVC. This one, plus a few others such as Sony use AVCHD. I gather this would be need converting before any editing can be done in imovie?? I cant find a simple answer to this question. It seems strange to me that Mac dont appear to support AVCHD when so many video camera companies use it. Can anyone advise please, in simple language as I am far from a computer geek!!!
    Is conversion a complicated or time consuming process and would it be simpler to fo for an MP4 type

    Most AVCHD camcorders can be used in iMovie without any conversion needed if they are imported directly from the camcorder.
    When you hear someone mention that you must convert AVCHD to use in iMovie, it is usually because they removed the files from the camcorder and only removed part of the files and folders. You need all of them to import to iMovie.
    However, you should check to see if the camcorder you are choosing will work in iMovie. Here is a list of compatible camcorders.

  • Total Mac Virgin with a stupid, simple question:

    There are no stupin questions, just stupid people, so here it goes. I'm trying to post an image on MySpace from iPhoto. I rotated it 90 degrees and it looks right in iPhoto, but when I upload it, it's ****-eyed. Someone please help. I'm a GenX'er but I feel like a geezer having to ask for help.

    Hi, fellow GenX'er.
    A couple of things could cause this. First, in which application did you rotate the image? Some apps, like Preview, don't change the source file, but rather tag the image for display. So when you export you see it unrotated. Rotating in iPhoto does create a rotated file which will look correct when exported. As long as you haven't done it in Preview prior to import, that is.
    That get us to the 2nd possibility. How did you access the file when uploading? If you went through the iPhoto library files, you may have taken the wrong file. The Original may be unrotated, the Data too small... the edited version is in the Modified folder. Instead of grabbing from the library, it is recommended that you select the image in iPhoto and File > Export > File Export to a folder on your desktop, then upload from there (trash the desktop copy when done). This ensures that you are choosing the correct, full-sized, edited image. When exporting you also have the option to resize for a more web-appropriate file.

  • Simple Question(i hope) regarding downloading photos to Video Ipod

    hey guys...im just having some trouble downloading photos from my mac into my ipod...i didnt have much luck with the manual...is there just a quick 5 step process i can do to make this happen...i have the brand new imac desktop(dual-core, 20'') and have downloaded my pics into iPhoto and a little frustrated in getting some photos into the video ipod...thanks!

    hiya!
    hmmm. okay there's some information (and a link to a photo-syncing tutorial) in this document:

  • Stupid simple question about checkboxes

    Hi I have two fields in my form that I want designated as checkboxes... a user is either internal or not. I keep reading about checkboxes... that they return True/False or Yes/No. I have tried both, but cannot chenge the value of the checkbox or the database field associated with it. How do I
    A) get the value of the checkbox (checked/unchecked)
    b) change said value into a 'Y' or 'N' so it can be entered into our table?
    Here's the code I'm attempting to use:
    declare
    iProgSeq integer;
    Projno integer:=p_session.get_value_as_number(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT', p_attribute_name => 'A_PROGRESS_PROJECT_NUMBER');
    cActive varchar2(3);
    cInternal varchar2(3);
    begin
    cActive:=p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT', p_attribute_name => 'A_PERSON_ACTIVE_IND');
    cInternal:=p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'DEFAULT', p_attribute_name => 'A_PERSON_INTERNAL_IND');
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_PERSON_USER_ID',
    p_value => portal.wwctx_api.get_user
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_PERSON_ACTIVITY_DATE',
    p_value => sysdate
    if cActive = 'NO' then
    cActive:= 'N';
    else
    cActive:= 'Y';
    end if;
    p_session.set_value(
         p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_PERSON_ACTIVE_IND',
    p_value => cActive
    if cInternal = 'NO' then
    cInternal:= 'N';
    else
    cInternal:= 'Y';
    end if;
    p_session.set_value(
         p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_PERSON_INTERNAL_IND',
    p_value => cInternal
    doInsert;
    end ;
    --p_session.set_value(
    --p_block_name     => "_block",
    --p_attribute_name => '_STATUS',
    --p_value          => 'oops');
    --null;
    return ;
    Why are checkboxes (which you'd think would be pretty straightforward) such a pain?

    ANYONE?! This is urgent, please help!

  • A simple question (i hope)

    Hello, sorry if this is an easy one, i just havent come across it before, could any one let me knw what the following means
    if i have a method
    public void myMethod(int i){...}what would this mean...
    myMethod(someInt == 0 ? 255 : 0);thanks for any pointers!

    >
    what would this mean...
    myMethod(someInt == 0 ? 255 : 0);
    The statement within the () is an alternate form of an if condition. It is roughly equivalent to..
    int temp;
    if (someInt==0) {
      temp = 255;
    } else {
      temp = 0;
    myMethod(temp);

  • This is is simple question I hope regarding Apple stores for iDVD...

    Hi all, I have looked over the Apple site and have not come up with a totally concrete answer. What I would like to know is does Apple have a store for iDVD similar to what they have for iPhoto (calendars, books, et). I would like to make some DVD movies but have them look professional. A nice looking case for them and the DVD printed.
    If anyone knows a for sure yes or no please post back.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Nope, no such 'store'.
    You are free to use your own creative juices!
    But this may be useful:

  • Simple question on the main method

    Hello,
    I have a very simple question and hope that somebody 'out there' can help me on this topic:
    I just want to pass some Strings to the main method, which means that I want to do sth. like this:
    java ProgramXY parameter1, parameter2
    I thought it was possible to access these parameters in my main method like the following:
    public static void main(String argv[]) {
    System.out.println(argv[0]);
    System.out.println(argv[1]);
    But it does not work. So what do I do wrong ? Thank you for your help,
    Findus

    That should actually work - though you don't use the comma - just spaces. I don't think a comma would screw things up though - it would just become part of parameter 1.
    Of course, you still want to check argv.length to make sure you don't try reading an array member that doesn't exist.
    What are you seeing if you're not seeing your parameters?
    If you're not putting enough parameters, it MIGHT be possible that you're getting an ArrayIndexOutOfBounds exception before the first System.out.println's are flushed to the screen - unsure though.

  • A simple question on random number generation?

    Hi,
    This is a rather simple question and shows my newbieness quite blatantly!
    I'm trying to generate a random number in a part of a test I have.
    So, I have a little method which looks like this:
    public int getRandomNumber(int number){
            Random random = new Random(number);
            return random.nextInt(number);
        }And in my code I do int random = getRandomNumber(blah)...where blah is always the same number.
    My problem is it always returns the same number. What am I missing here. I was under the impression that nextint(int n) was supposed to generate the number randomly!! Obviously I'm doing something wrong or not using the correct thing. Someone please point out my stupidity and point me in the right direction? Ta

    I think the idea is that Random will generate the same pseudo-random sequence over and over if you don't supply a seed value. (The better to debug with, my dear.) When you're ready to put an app into production, the seed value should be the current system time in milliseconds to guarantee a new sequence with each run.
    Do indeed move Random outside the loop. Think of it like a number factory - instantiate it once and let it pump out the random values for you as needed.

  • Starting out with a Cintiq in Adobe Flash - A series of frustratingly unfindable simple questions!

    I'm completely new to the Flash IDE, but I have used my Cintiq 13HD with Photoshop in the past. Despite the tablet working well and drawing correctly, so far Flash feels very weird and almost unusable. I've spent hours looking online for answers to these simple questions, and I've found nothing. Please help answer any if you can!
    1. Eraser brush size: I have the wacom pen set to brush, and the eraser set to eraser (fairly standard). I can adjust the pen's brush size in the toolbar, but the eraser is stuck at the smallest size! I have set the eraser tool to the max brush size, and when the pen is set to the eraser tool directly it is larger. How do I set the other side of the wacom pen to a larger brush size? And aren't there any keyboard shortcuts to increase/decrease brush size in Flash? (like [ and ] in Photoshop)
    2. Brush zoom: The brush size changes when you zoom. People online say the brush size is constant, but this is just wrong. When you zoom to 200%, the brush should be twice as big as it is in 100% zoom. Is there any way to make Flash have this (normal) behavior?
    3. Timeline wrapping: Can you make the "step forward one frame" and "step backward one frame" keys (comma and period) wrap the entire timeline, so stepping forward on the last frame goes to frame 1, and stepping backward on frame 1 goes to the last frame? This is crucial for me to animate loops well, and I can't find anything about it online or in preferences. Shift+comma and shift+period are okay workarounds, but they are not ideal, because I have comma and period mapped to buttons on the Cintiq. I need them to wrap!
    4. Numerical Brush Thickness: Is there any way to specify a brush thickness with a number? Do I have to use the pen tool to get stroke thickness properties? At the very least, can I use a keyboard shortcut to specify size, instead of clicking on toolbars?
    Honestly, I'm at the end of my rope here. I'm almost ready to drop Flash entirely and do this in Illustrator, then animate in Flash when I have everything drawn properly. Why is everything so different, and why can't I find any of these simple questions online?

    The long and short of it is no you can't do most of the things you're looking to do as far as the brush is concerned. Flash has ALWAYS increased the brush size as you zoom in and decreased it when it's zoomed out. Why? No clue but it's always been so.  You CAN increase the brush size by number though using the Properties box. The eraser is weird in Flash. so much so that I use the Lasso tool and select what I don't want and delete it. Since you're used to Illustrator you might not realize that selecting areas of a brush stroke will NOT select the entire stroke like in Illustrator. you can select only parts. You can also sort of allow for what you're calling timeline wrapping by installing a Command and mapping it to a custom key command. Just make sure there's a key frame at the end of the cycle.
    Dropbox - Flash_Select_Next_and_Previous_Keyframes.zip
    Also this might do sort of what you want too:
    http://www.toonmonkey.com/frameJumper.fla
    Finally, Flash is no different than it has ever been and you have to take into consideration that while Illustrator was developed by Adobe, Flash was developed by Macromedia and was then acquired by Adobe years later so you' can't really expect it to work the same. Personally I HATE Illustrator's interface and hate the way it works so I'd hate it if Flash worked like Illustrator!
    Anyway, I hope this helps.

  • Simple Question - Data Import

    Hi,
    i have a simple question. Is it wise to change our actual import scenarios for input data from systems out of sap to XI?
    Today we have the scenario that data from outer systems will send per ftp to a special directory. After that a report will transform the data into a batchinput. The btci will send per rfbibl into the system. Now we have a huge number of such reports. Will it now be better to change to XI, which we use perhaps for MDM?
    Xi could take the file from ftp-srever maps the fields an will send per bapi to sap.
    Is it a quite simple scenario or is batchinput still the better way.

    Hi,
    If you have a scenario where you have different file formats , which needs to be converted and then send to different systems based on some conditions , then suggested is XI usage.
    However, also if you already have XI installed and running for the MDM system , then you can think of routing all messages through XI.  It may make sense to use one system for all routing and data conversion puposes.
    Hope this view helps.

  • JComboBox simple question

    I think is a very simple question, I ve got a JComBox with an array of Strings. Something like this:
    JPanel myPanel;
    JComBox box;
    String levels[]={"Level 1","Level 2","Level 3","Level 4","Level 5"};
    box = new JComboBox (levels);
    myPanel.add(box);
    Ok. My question is: How can I let just the level 1 enable at first, or how can I enable or disable just one level of the JCombox, like level 1 and 2 enable but level 3, 4 and 5 disable.
    Thanks a lot!! Hope someone helps me!!

    I don't think this is possible with a JComboBox. I believe it is with a JMenu and JMenuItems.
    You could only display valid options by adding/deleting them. Or you could handle it in the listener code. ie if they select an invalid option do nothing. This would require you keeping track of which options are valid elsewhere in the code.

  • It will cost $49 for a simple question! Not kidding

    I called Apple support today with an issue with charging and of course they asked if I wanted to extend my warrenty for another year for $69...when I said not right now the guy then mentioned that after my initial year warrenty was up or the extra year was up, if I were to call in for a simple question they charge $49!!!!!! Don't believe me.....call and ask yourself... how insane is that???? Thank goodness for discussions like this!

    ibisguy,
    Shh!! I won't tell him. My lips are sealed. He has about 9 years experience working in Call Centers, and has been known to make a mistake or two himself.
    However, for the iPhone telephone support is tied to your account with the carrier. In the U.S. that would be AT&T and two years.
    The AppleCare Protection Plan extends the hardware coverage to two years. If your iPhone were to break during the second year, any repair except the battery would be $199 (4 GB) or $249 (8 GB) plus shipping, and in some states tax. The battery would be $79 plus $6.95 shipping in the second year. The AppleCare Protection Plan (APP) would cover the battery during that second year if it were to be defective, and shipping for repairs.

    Hope this helps,

  • TMG Standalone Array simple question

    hi everyone i have what i think is a simple question but i don't know if i'm missing something in all the tutorials about standalone arrays i've read.
    i'm working with 2 tmg enterprise editions in 2008R2 in a test environment. both are on sp2 fully updated and a single 20 Mbit connection. i would like for this two tmg's to work for high availability using that connection only and i was able to join both in
    a standalone array. here's how they're configured:
    tmg01
    internal nic ip range: 192.168.1.1/24
    second internal nic: not connected at the moment, considering for intra-array network if needed later on (if anyone suggest is absolutely necessary)
    external nic ip: dhcp supplied by isp.
    tmg02
    internal nic ip range: 192.168.1.2/24
    second internal nic: not connected at the moment.
    external nic: not connected. (where do i connect this one if i only have one modem for that 20 Mbit connection??)
    i have read that the intra-array network is not absolutely necessary so i’m leaving those unplugged.
    now, here’s my question, since they’re both already on an array, if tmg01 fails to deliver (let’s assume it has a hardware malfunction), how is tmg02 going to take over and connect to the external network if by definition my modem only accepts one cable? will
    i have to be near the server and change the cable to the other nic in tmg02 for it to work or do i have to add something in between the modem and the two tmg’s?
    is there something i’m missing? will i be needing 2 connections? maybe it’s too obvious or stupid and it just went passed me. i’m open to criticism and opinions.
    thanks

    Hi
    Let follow the best practice.
    In Production Normal setup for Full redundant Architecture, we need three servers, one for Array and other two servers for TMG for HA.
    1 . TMG Array Server – Subnet Routable with Internal TMG Subnet ( You can also have this in any one TMG but best practice is to separate it )
    2.
    TMG – 1 – Two NIC, Internal / External
    3.
    TMG – 2 – Two NIC, Internal / External
    Second Internal NIC is not required in your setup. So you can go with two NIC. External and Internal on two TMG
    Join TMG 1 and TMG 2 to Single Array which is server 1. By this all the configuration you make on one TMG will sync with other TMG.
    How TMG will handle in case of Server failure
    You need to Create two NLB in TMG
    One for Internal and one for External
    Internal NLB
    You need to create an Internal NLB, Since you are using 192.168.1.0 / 24 Network for Internal, assign an internal NLB as 192.168.1.3
    If you want to use TMG as gateway for all internet connection, then you need to have default Route from internal network pointing to 192.168.1.3 which is TMG NLB internal IP
    address
    External NLB
    Since you have not mentioned  External Network, let’s assume you are using 10.10.10.0 / 24 and External Interface of TMG 1 is 10.10.10.1 and TMG 2 is 10.10.10.2, Then create
    an External NLB and assign an IP address 10.10.10.3
    You need to have a Switch in between your Router and TMG servers,
    Connect TMG -1 and TMG – 2 External Interface NIC to Switch
    On external NIC – Set gateway as Modem IP address of Both TMG
    Connect an internet cable from modem to the same switch
    Ensure that, you have a route to 10.10.10.0 /24
     from Modem to External NLB IP address Ie 10.10.10.3
    Now you don’t have to switch cables to Modem,
    Good Luck !!

  • Snap function in CS4 After Effect (simple Question)

    Windows 7 Ultimate
    After Effect CS4
    Gentlemen .
    A very simple question, since i am more of a Premiere person, it seems like I am stuck with this problem and the problem is
    In Premiere its called "Snap" its a tool or function that automatically finds the connecting or starting or ending of a clip.
    For example if I have 3 channels of video and I have many cuts, by dragging the edge of a video , it tells or shows me when they are connected
    I tried to search , all I find is "Snap to Guides" which in not doing what I want .
    If you need more explanation, plz let me know , else hope you can help.
    Thanks.
    Btw. in Premiere the Snap looks like a "Magnet"

    To help you with that we need to know something about your composition settings and the settings you picked in the output module. Anything else would just be a guess. My guess is that you're using some HD footage from a non square pixel aspect ratio format and rendering to the same size. If you pick a square pixel HD format (1080 or 720 both have square pixel frame sizes in the default composition settings) and you put your HDV, DVCProHD, AVCHD, Mpeg non square footage in a square pixel comp it will fit and render out correctly.
