Stuttering Audio On Speakers

Hi!
I own a HP Pavilion dv6-3225tx notebook. I have been experiencing stuttering audio problems when i try to play audio through speakers. However, the headphones do not experience this problem. Please help.

Just noticed my MP3s are stuttering too...
EDIT
Rather than bumping this up with a new post here's an update. Not sure if a software update helped, but I completely forgot about this issue; all has been fine since!

  • Stuttering Audio from 10.6.8 Update all Outputs

    Hi,
I updated to 10.6.8 and now have stuttering audio using either digital output, headphone output and from the internal speakers so I think something there is a bug.
I tried rolling back 'AppleHDA.kext' using the 'MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.dmg' and Pacifist but that didn't help the situation.
Anyone else having similar issues/have an idea for a fix? I don't have a time machine backup with with 10.6.7 unfortunately...

I have a early 2008 macbookpro 2.8 duel with silver keys.
I purchaed the 10.6 disk from the apple store. I've had the machine for years and purchased it refurbished from apple.
I did the erase and install and migrated everything over from external drive, then did update to 10.6.8 and the usb ports still would stop working after a few hours.. Then I read on another apple community forus to reset pram, and pull out the power cable, take out the battery and hold power key for 5 seconds, then restart. that seemed to fix usb issue so far..
But overall my computer seems to be running slower then when using just 10.5.8 and it did not wake from sleep once and I had to force power off and restart.. But maybe its just getting used to 10.6.8. we will see..
Also, on another note, my battery is totally dead, and I can only run computer with power cable.. Will this affect things? it never did with 10.5.8..
Oh, on my erase and install, I just did the simplest version and did not do the full erase to zero using he advanced security measures.. I just did the one where it writes on top of everything..

  • Apogee Duet FireWire skipping/stuttering audio

I've bought Apogee Duet FireWire back in 2011 when I had another macbook pro and I believe it was OS X Lion powered. The problem started since I updated to Mountain Lion and next upgrades were the same. There was a time when it was not very clean if the drivers at the official apogee's site are fresh enough. But now I have OS X Yosemite and fresh drivers that claim to be for this system. As to hardware, since Apogee had only FW400 wire, later I bought FW800 wire, and then FW800<->ThunderBolt adapter. So now I use this connection: Duet -> FW400/FW800 wire -> FW800/ThunderBolt adaptor -> MacBook Pro. The audio is working normal in 80% of time, but otherwise there are stutterings of the sound. Is there a way to get rid of this problem? Thank you.

I just started having problems with my Duet this afternoon and found this thread so I thought I'd give a shout out to you guys to see if you have any ideas before talking with the company....
I've had my Apogee Duet since about feb and never had any problems until this afternoon. For some reason the Duet doesn't seem to want to interface with my computer at all anymore. When plugged in, the lights light up on the Duet however under system profiler I get the "unable to list firewire devices" error msg. Under the Sound tab in preferences, the Duet is not listed as an available I/O. In the Apple Midi Setup or whatever it's called in utilities, the icon for the Duet is still there but it doesn't show it as online. I can still press the big button and the little green light cycles through input 1/input 2 yada yada yada, but the computer doesn't seem to see it. When I open up Maestro, both the control and mixer screens are completely blank. I've tried resetting the unit (holding button down for 5 seconds), using different firewire cords, and finally uninstalling and reinstalling the Maestro software (using the Duet software - May 2008 link on apogees site) and none of these things solve the problem. I haven't had a chance to plug in another FW400 device into my Macbook Pro to see if it's a problem with the port, but I get the same result with the Duet on my MBP and my G5 PPC tower, which leads me to believe it's a problem with the unit. Also, since it's bus-powered, the lights wouldn't light up if the ports on the computer were fried, right?? Has this happened to anyone else?? Any ideas on how to fix it before calling up Apogee?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • RE: Macbook Stuttering, Audio Distortion

    FYI
As discussed in Macbook Stuttering, Audio Distortion,
The solution to this problem is as follows:
The fix is to blow out nearly four years of dust (in my case), using the instructions given here (for replacing a fan...)
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-MacBook-Core-2-Duo-Fan/522/1
You don't need to remove the fan, but go as far as removing the keyboard, and then you can simply use an air-duster to remove every bit of dust you can find.
If your macbook's heatsink (as in my case) was cleaned by a professional in Apple Store, and you still keep having problems with youtube, ichat, skype and have stuttering, audio and video distortion and your 2+ghz intel macbook behaves as if it's an early iMac G3 - you have to do all steps described at ifixit.com.
When I have taken out my macbook's fan (the heatsink was perfectly sterile) I have found a 5mm thick layer of compressed dust blocking 97% of the air exit.
Removing the blockage has helped and my macbook is operating like it's new.
PS: It's sad that people at Apple Store do not do their job properly.

Your processor is momentarily saturated. It's not really a 'defect' that is covered under warranty.
Flash is a widely-known resource hog. It's one of the reasons that Steve Jobs has 'banished' Flash from iPhones and the new iPad, and uses H.264 format video.
Have you also noticed that the fan becomes loud when this is happening? Almost any time the fan starts running at high speed, it's because your processor is working hard and needs additional cooling.
If you look at Activity Monitor when the stuttering occurs, you probably have a combined CPU utilization of the top two or three processes running of more than 100%.
It's also quite possible that the Free memory 'green slice' of the of the System Memory pie chart is quite tiny.
    Work-Arounds
    1. Run fewer processes/programs. Close and Quit every application that doesn't need to be running while you're watching Flash.
    2. Try another browser. Some are better than others at running Flash. I use Safari primarily, but Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera are also available.
    3. Add RAM memory, especially if you still have just 1Gb RAM memory installed. Upgrading to 2Gb or 4Gb (MacBook 2,1 actually only recognizes and utilizes up to 3Gb) will help somewhat. It doesn't cure the processor saturation, but it does give the programs running more 'breathing room' until it reaches the saturation point.
    4. ClickToFlash gives you options for how Flash is handled. Free download here --> http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/
    5. H.264 format videos may be less processor intensive.
    6. Buy a new Mac with a faster processor and more RAM. Even a 2.26Ghz MacBook Pro does much better than the 2007 2.16, because it uses a low power microprocessor, has 2Gb RAM standard, has a more advanced video chipset, and an unibody aluminum case to help dissipate heat.

  • Stuttering audio from airport express...

I installed my first airport express yesterday. Had some problems: my main computer couldn't load the Airport Utility (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7132922&tstart=0), and I've gotten things configured through another computer but I'm getting lots of stuttering audio when I attempt playback.
There's a pattern to it: the song starts fine, and then about 3 seconds in it starts stuttering. A buffering issue?
No problems on the network that I'm aware of.
I tried setting Quicktime to "safe mode waveout", but no help.
    Any tips?

Typically, "stuttering" can be a result of either low signal strength or high signal noise values, or both.
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) from getting a good clean signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like the following to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible:
    For Macs:
    o MacStumbler
    o iStumbler
    For PCs:
    o NetStumbler
    o WiFi Manager

  • Stuttering Audio on Pavilion DV-8333ea

I am trying to solve problems for a friend with the machine in the subject. Firstly the background -
My friend was having an issue with a virus so stupidly ran HP PC repair option and wiped all their information I have retrieved all their missing data using various tools however I have a problem the restored system had what I can best describe as stuttering audio whether system sounds/music web pages etc. also I get stuttering movement with all mouse's whether touchpoint or external
Firstly I ran a complete factory install now that I had the data and when it was complete stuttering audio problem was still there updated all drivers from HP website and problem remains ran windows update and did all updates and still a problem.
I then decided to do a clean install from a Windows XP Disc with all drivers and updates and the problem remained. So I thought I would have a crack with Windows 7 just in case it was something to do with XP when done no audio in device manager exclamation mark at this point mouse ok so installed drivers from HP and guess what? I then got sound but still stuttering and mouse problem returned.
At this point I ran a PCLinuxOS Live CD on the system and the sound and mouse/touchpoint works perfectly so to my mind it cannot be a hardware problem and has to be driver based.
I have now reinstalled XP and up to SP3 with all updates and done a clean removal of all audio drivers and then reinstalled current drivers on site for audio but the problem still remains, the touchpoint moves with pauses and thought that it was a seperate problem however when audio drivers are cleanly removed the touchpoint problem goes away so they do seem to be interlinked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am now out of ideas and feel like throwing the **bleep** thing in a skip.

    freskagirl,
    Try the following steps.
    1. Open up device manager.
    2. Locate your audio driver.
    3. Right click and uninstall the driver.
    4. Go to the toolbar in device manager and select "scan for hardware changes."
    5. After it completes, reboot the notebook.
Let me know if that resolves the issue or not.
    Best of luck!

  • Built in audio output (speakers) are playing through different channels.

My built in audio output (speakers) are playing through different channels. How do I make them both play through the same channel? It has something to do with the audio midi setup. When i click "Configure Speakers" on th Built-In Output I don't get the option of "-" for which channel the audio should go out of, I just get "1" or "2" as an option. This happens when i select them to be both stero and multichannel speakers. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Is there a red light glowing inside the jack? It sounds like a faulty jack. Read this:

  • J k l keys play stuttered audio

This is really frustrating. In the manual it says this (paraphrased) on page 300:
"Using the J, K, and L Keys to Hear Subtle Details
When an audio clip is displayed in the Viewer, you hear a fragmented version of the
sound as you drag the playhead...To hear audio more clearly as you move through it at different speeds, use the J, K, and L keys to play your clip in the Viewer. Unlike the scrubber bar, which skips samples to
give the illusion of faster playback at the cost of stuttery-sounding audio, the J, K, and L
keys actually shift the pitch of the audio you’re playing back, enabling you to hear all
the subtle details of the audio at various speeds, both slower and faster than real time."
I cannot get my machine to do this, it just plays stuttered sound, no speed/pitch shift, which would be really helpful when you need to understand what is said, but want to skim through fast (ie a long VO session). I have searched all over the manual and prefs for something, no luck. Any ideas?

As Jerry said, it only supports a fixed 50% speed/pitch reduction. Not a scrub, more of a "slo-mo" mode.
If you get stuttered audio while doing this, it means your audio interface hardware and/or its associated Core Audio drivers are not suitable for the task. This is not an uncommon problem with cheap interfaces.

  • Stuttering audio with itunes 7.0

what's going on with my itunes audio. now whnever itunes is playing audio, if I open any other app, i.e. net browser, and use the scroll or perform any other activity, my audio starts skipping out - badly. never did before the 7.0 upgrade????
direct x, drivers, everything up to date.
    thanks!

Ok. After alot of frustration and late night experimenting I have found that controlling my page file size has seemed to correct my "stuttering audio" with iTunes 7.0. My pagefile.sys had swelled to 4 times it's normal size after the upgrade.(?) I can't prove this or tell you why it happened. All I know is setting my page file sizes to 100-800 (min.& max. respectively) my system response while having iTunes open along with other apps has improved 100%. It hasn't skipped once after re-creating all of the instances that had once brought my audio to a screaching halt.(literally) It may be helpful to note that my system currently has 2GB of ram. So setting the page file to these lower settings has not had any negative effects when running Cubase SX or my video editing software. No, I'm not an expert nor do I claim any authority in the computing industry whatsoever. Just thought I'd share my experience with others.

  • PLEASE HELP - STUTTERING AUDIO

This could be a long one so I apologize. I am building a slide show by importing/dragging photos into iMovie using various transitions between them. I have well over a hundred photos. I also adjusted the length of these pictures in iMovie. I added audio from iTunes and used iMovie to trim the audio I needed to fit the individual picture or pictures. Everything was going great until approx 20 minutes into the video - it started getting real slow when using various commands and then the recently added audio would stutter once in a while. I kept adding audio and the stuttering got much worse until NOW ALL OF THE AUDIO HAS A TERRIBLE STUTTER.
I emptied the iMovie trash, I ran Onyx to clean the computer, I ran the Activity Monitor on this Movie and a few others that work perfectly (this is the only one I'm having the audio stutter on).
Obviously I do not understand The Activity Monitor:
Movie with stuttering audio = (31 minutes - 7 GB), many transitions, photos and audio pieces (audio on both tracks) (all worked great for a while).
CPU= 16% at idle AND 165% running (how do you use 165% of the CPU???
REAL MEMORY= 185 MB at idle AND 187 MB running
VIRTUAL MEMORY= 514 MB AT IDLE AND 598-854 MB RUNNING
These next Activity Monitor stats are from a very comparable iMovie that works perfectly.
Movie with great audio = (33 minutes - 6.7 GB)
CPU= 16% at idle AND 115% running (again how do I use 115% of CPU??)
REAL MEMORY- 176 MB at idle AND 197 MB running
Virtual Memory= 504 MB at idle AND 540 MB running
    OS 10.4.10 - Dual 1.42 GHZ - 1 GB DDR SDRAM - IMovie HD
I sure hope you can help - I have many, many, many hours into this project that I want to show at my 50th High School Reunion.
    Thanks
    Wally

First, you are probably not doing anything wrong, nor is your computer malfunctioning.
This is a well-known problem, usually having to do with the type and amount of audio that you are adding. Karl Petersen has taken the time to offer a variety of work-around options.
See this very long thread for more information to assist you. Read and heed anything Karl has posted:

If you are nearly finished with the editing except for adding audio, and if you have the drive space, you can 'share' the movie as QuickTime, Full Quality. After the quicktime movie has been created, open a new iMovie project and import that quicktime movie into it. You can then add audio and you should not have much stuttering. The movie will be all one long clip incorporating all the tracks from your original movie. You CAN do more editing, but it is a bit more complicated.
Also, for me, even if my movies have audio skipping/stuttering, and even video stuttering, the resultant burned DVD has always come out fine.
You can also 'share' the movie back to your camcorder and reimport it into a new iMovie project.

  • Just upgraded an iMac with 4GB Memory and Intel Processor from 10.6.8 to Mavericks and Quicktime plays m4v files with stuttering audio

I just upgraded an iMac with 4GB Memory and 3.33 Ghz  Intel Core Duo Processor from 10.6.8 to Mavericks.  I now have Quicktime 10.3 which plays m4v files with stuttering audio.  This is a nightmare as I use Quicktime a lot in my research.  I have seen similar threads but so far only reporting the problem.  For now I have installed Quicktime Player 10.7 (which appears in utilities, leaving Quicktime 10.3 in the main applications list) which plays the same videos with no problem, but it would be good to know if anyone has managed to find a workaround at all, or know if Apple have plans to do anything about it?

Slow performance after installing Yosemite on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.
Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.

  • Low audio output - Speakers advice

    Hi,
I am a proud owner of Lenovo A600. The only drawback seems to be the low audio output. Though the sound quality is fabulous, I cant hear a lot of videos on the internet them from a reasonable distance.
I m assuming that supplementing the audio with speakers is the solution. I have no idea of the type of speakers to buy. Researching on the internet makes me more and more bewildered of the choices, so I decided to ask in the lenovo forums as the people here might have a better idea.
    Here are my goals :
A reasonably portable speaker system that increases the sound output so I can hear it from a distance, in a big room. I have a few dumb questions :
    1) Is it possible to connect speakers that supplement the speakers of Lenovo?
    2) Is it possible to connect a 2.0 system but still use the built-in bass?
    3) Is a 2.1 system the minimum needed to maintain the same clarity?
    4) Is it a bad idea to consider USB speakers like Logitech Z-5?
Apparently, I have no idea about sound systems and this is my first exposure to these and I m thoroughly confused by a lot of terminology like bass, woofer, sub woofer, tweeter etc.. and dont really have the resources to cut thru the jargon. So guys, can anybody please help/advise?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Most likey the audio out connection will sense the input of headphones/external speakers and it will turn off the internal speaker.  If the opposite was correct, using headphones to not disturb people around you would be useless.
    2.  Read above.
    3. Most decent external speakers will outperform any internal speakers.  Internals speakers are cheap and bought from the lowest bidder.  Right now you are using ta .1 system.  2 meaning the number of speakers and 1 meaning the subwoofer.
    4.  I cant give you info about USB speakers, but it might be possible to use both the USB speakers and the internal speakers together.  USB speakers will also allow you to use 5.1, or even 7.1 speakers systems.  More speakers the better.
Just remember to get amplified speakers.  The more watts the speakers can handle, the louder they will be.  Logitech is one company that I know have good quality speakers.  I am sure there are more.   i hope this helps.  Goodluck.

  • Need a beats audio laptop speakers

    Hi,
    I'm Salish, I bought a HP PC on 2011.
Recently, My warranty was expired and I've notified these information.
Now, laptop speakers aren't working at all.
Here are the my PC details for you:
    Serial Number: CNU1180POM
    Product Number: XZ212UA#ABA
I need to know how to get the beats audio laptop speakers to my PC.
Kindly, please provide the list of local stores where I can purchase in USA or please let me how to place an order from you.
    Thanks,
    Saliesh.

I have VERY little knowledge, but from my understanding, most of the equipment hooks up via USB or Line-Out (headphone jack), so any device with USB ports should be fine. Additionally, with USB hubs being so cheap, you probably only need one or two USB ports.
As long as you have enough processing power to output to all of your sources without lag, you should be fine.
That said, I'd recommend joining a forum specifically related to DJing, because that would be your best source of information and the users would be able to provide better advice than you'll get here.

  • Audio From Speakers Keeps Skipping and Stuttering on HP ENVY 15-j185nr

Hi I have a HP ENVY 15-j185nr and My speakers audio keeps skipping and stuttering and i can see in the beats audio control panel that it fluctuates in the levels between the Bass and Treble and also The Volume. Now When I connect my Beats Wireless Headphones to My Computer i have no problem with the audio on the bluetooth side but when i connect the headphones on the wired side and plug it into the computer audio jack the audio is playing from both headphones and speakers and it is STILL skipping and Stuttering. My Computer OS was 8.1 Enterprise when this Problem Occured and since then I've updated to Windows 10 Enterprise by Doing a clean install hoping that this will fix the problem but it didn't After i updated my windows OS I can now see in the Device Manager in the Sound, Video and Game Controllers Category that my High Definition Audio Device have a yellow triangle exclamation point icon under it and its device status says This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful. The driver version is 10.0.10240.16384 and The drver date is Thursday July 9. 2015.  i've uninstalled and resinstalled the driver numerous times and the exclamation icon is still there and i wanted to know is it a Hardware problem or a Driver Problem?. Is this a simple fix or do i have to take it in and get it fix by a computer tech? can anybody please help me?

    Hi,
    Try the following
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
    Chipset Driver - Windows 8.1
When the reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook by holding down the Shift key as you click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.  Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
