Stuttering cursor & sudden blue screen??

There seem to be 2 new problems upon installing 10.5.6-
1) The mouse stutters as it moves or gets stuck then catches up quickly, but this, not right after a re-start but only after it wakes up from a first sleep then its there for good.
2) Suddenly and randomly the screen just cuts to the "start-up" blue screen for a few seconds then back to what was on the screen?
Similar problems??
Thanks in avance...
Steve

    I have satellite a500-19x,
There are one problem every time and every days when i working.
Suddenly the windows stopped for several moments then blue screen and restart windows .

    hi,
if you want to update your Bios, go to the Toshiba driver page and choose the appropriate Bios version for you model. Download it and run. Don't forget to close all the running programs, disable Antivirus, Firewall before running it. Then, you will be asked to restart the computer. Pray that Bios process would occur properly otherwise you will have blank screen on startup. In this case, you will have to contact TASP (Toshiba authorized service provider).
To be honestly, I don't recommend you to flash the Bios, in your case it doesn't help your in audio crackling and BSOD. I updated my BIos but it didn't fix the problem. I think, it's graphic driver issue. You can go to the nvidia.com and download a new graphic card driver released recently. Install it and check. I also had audio crackling and the system freezing that gone after updating that driver. Note, that driver isn't pretested by Toshiba (not modified for overheating protection, anyway the users say this in the forum) but install it at my own risk and still have no problems.

  • Sudden blue screen showing after power on - Snow Leopard Intel Xeon, Quad-Core

I've been experiencing (twice in the past month) a blue screen popping up after turning the power on, and it gets stuck there for more than a couple minutes forcing me to have to restart.
My concern is the computer is aging and want to watch for signs that it's going to 'crash' completely. Does anyone have any advice on this issue?
    Thank you!

  • Is a sudden blue screen log out connected to audio volume control?

I use three computers all with the appropriately updated Mac OS (10.4.5). In all three, I am experiencing the same curious problem. Now and again, the screen goes blue and then we are into the log in routine. All applications have to be restarted. I have noticed that adjusting sound by making use of the keyboard sound control appears to lead to this event happening (after several seconds delay). There is an additional common feature to all of this: I have replaced the hard disk in all three. In this Powerbook 12", I installed a 250 GB disk, in a 20" G5 iMac at work, I replaced a 150GB disk with a 500 GB and then used the replaced 150 GB disk to replace an 80 GB disk in an 18" iMac at home with a 1.6 GHz processor.

Two things: First, 10.4.5 is not the most updated version of Tiger; it has been up to 10.4.11 for some time now. You should run your software update.
Second, this forum is for problems running OS 10.5 Leopard, not 10.4 Tiger. You might have a better chance at a good response in the Tiger forums here:

  • Blue Screen Message

    @Muhammad9317
Does your notebook always start with the blue screen now, or is it intermittent?
And did you update your system with the HP customized drivers for your system?
If not then you can find those drivers here:
HP Pavilion g6-1060ee Notebook PC - Software & Drivers
Have you tried to start up into safe mode?  Entering Safe Mode (Windows 7)
If you can get into safe mode, then I would recommend checking in device manager for any devices that are duplicated, or marked with exclamation marks or other similar error indicators. Remove those devices with errors, from within device manager, and then scan for hardware changes.
Then try restarting the computer normally. If it comes up with a blue screen go back into safe mode again, and this time remove any devices you had previously installed when you initially installed the operating system, and let windows find generic drivers for now. Then again restart the computer normally.
If it starts normally, it would indicate that one of those drivers is the likely cause. Without any messages to make it clear which is the culprit, it may take some trial and error to isolate the offending driver.
Once you figure out which is the one, then you can try installing the other drivers, one at a time, excepting for the problem child and see if it will work for you.
Let me know how that goes for you, and what you find as to the problem software.

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:

I suggest that you test with one piece of RAM at a time. It may be a RAM problem.
Do post the code of the BSOD here to let us identify what the exact problem may be.

  • Sat M40-236 Blue Screen of Death

Just a few days ago i've bought Toshiba Satellite M40-236. I disliked the pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition and installed Windows XP Pro with SP2 integrated. Afterwards i installed all the drivers provided and advised by Toshiba from: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&teddProduct=5 38&cmsFamily=Satellite&cmsSerie=Satellite+M40+Seri es&cmsCategory=Notebooks&mode=allMachines&action=s earch
Updated Bios, Video drivers and so on. Everything worked fine, installed all the updates from Microsoft update site and then tried to install Windows Media Player from microsoft site. Then, when tried to open music file in media player the Windows shutted down with the blue screen of Death. After restart the blue screen remained. Tried to load to Safe Mode, Last good known configuration ... no result ... the blue screen remains.
Tried to reinstall Win XP HE from Recovery DVD-Rom, the same result ... after files are copied to HDD and the system is rebooted, Win XP Logo with running progress bar and suddenly Blue Screen of Death :(((
Tried to reinstall different verions of Windows (2000,XP Home, Xp Pro, 98SE) - no result, after it says Starting Microsoft Windows (during installation) the blue screen of death and nothing more .... STOP: 0x0000007E or STOP: 0x0000007F.
May be someone has the same? May be any solution of this problem? I think due to the Notebook is new one ... maybe there is smth with RAM ?

    Hello Kresh
Well, its very difficult to say what is wrong.
I dont think that the BIOS is wrong because a wrong
BIOS update procedure has damage the motherboard and it would be not possible to run or start anything.
Sorry I dont have a proper answer.
In my opinion you should contact the Toshiba service partner because I dont think that you will solve this issue by yourself.
Ps: You cant downgrade the BIOS.
Only the ASP has a possibility to do this.
    Bye

  • Random occurring blue screen

Have a MacBook Pro that is 2 to 3 weeks old. The laptop will be working fine, but sometimes if i leave it on and then come back to it a few minutes later the desktop image is gone and there is just a blue screen (like the startup screen). There is no toolbar or anything. The only way to get back to the desktop is to reboot the computer. This never happens during booting but only after the computer has been logged into. Unless there is an easy fix I am just going to return the computer. Does anyone know of one?

sudden blue screen flashes then I see the login screen. Lose all work. All apps shut down and logged out and the login screen appears.
This has happened twice while browsing on safari and once on firefox and once on Google Chrome and twice while using iTunes and Pathfinder. Extremely random and can not seem to be intentionally duplicated.
I recently bought my first Macbook Pro 3 months ago. I am severely disappointed. Now my 90 day phone coverage is over and I must pay $349 for the “apple protection plan” to get any service (but who will protect me from apple?).
It is true I have a lot of apps installed and there are lots of factors involved, but although there is a problem both the service center and the phone service refuse to help (unless, of course, I have the “protection plan” but how far does the “protection” go?).
    Macbook Pro 15”
    Mac OSX 10.6.8
Processor: 2 GHz intel core i7
    Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I think the sudden blue screen and logout is happening because of the peripherals. Lately I have had firewire and usb external hard drives plugged in because that is where I keep my iTunes libraries and lately I have been doing work with the external hard drives.
I did the “hold opt-CMD- P- R while restarting” to redo the memory.
I restarted in safe mode and that seemed to work for a day.
I did the onyx.app clean scenario
I am thinking about doing a clean install and start over again.

  • U 400 Switch-able Graphics & blue Screen

I own a IdeaPad U400. Everything was fine till 2 days ago. suddenly graphics crashed! I was just surfing on web using chrome browser! suddenly Blue screen of death appeared. I checked the minidump file but no use.
meanwhile when i checked the Windows Experience index the desktop performance for widnows aero was dropped  to 4.9 . I tried Re-check the assesment  but it crashed and blue screen showed up.
while oppening the chrome it crashes as well and blue screen again.
I installed a new  fresh windows ( 7 ultimate ) & installed the drivers . but didnt solve anything.
Please help I'm out of ideas.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The slow startup can be from many causes.
I presume that your reinstallation of the OS has not involved wiping the internal drive totally.
    1. How full is your drive? It's recommended that you have at least 15% free space on the drive and certainly a minimum of more than 5GB on any drive.
    2. Do you have an up to date backup of all important files? If not, you would be wise to do this against any type of failure that might happen.
If you do it could be worth reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling everything.
    3. Do you have a number of things which start automatically as this will slow startup? I'm thinking of Skype amongst others. You can check this at least partially by starting in safe mode - hold the shift key until you see the grey screen with the Apple logo. Usually this will enable much faster startup because it loads only Apple's standard software.
    4. Have you kept all your software up to date, not just Apple's? If not there might be any one of a number of programs causing your problems.
    5. It could of course be a hardware component, eg graphics processor, heading for failure. This does happen unfortunately.
Let's know how you get on.

I managed to boot the computer and get the desktop to show. I now have a "repaired" computer. There are several problems that have cropped up. One is that I can only start up now in Safe Boot mode. Is there a way to turn it off? Also, I do not have a sound list, so I can't access anything requiring audio. Google Chrome only shows up as a white screen. Pictures that loaded before don't load in browsers, etc. Any suggestions? I figure I should reinstall Mac OS Lion for starts, maybe even do a mirror backup and reformat the drive. I think this drive has turned into scrambled eggs...what a headache!

  • I use the latest Firefox 13.0.1. I'm using Windows 7. After a day I updated my Adobe Flash Player, suddenly it crashed and showed a blue screen. Please help me.

My Firefox version is 13.0.1. I'm using Windows 7. Adobe Flash Player version is 11.3.300.265. A few minutes after opened the Firefox, suddenly it crashed and a blue screen showed up, it says there are unexpected error occured and forced my computer to be stopped. I need to restart the computer to see either it still show the blue screen or it just fine. After restarted, I use the Firefox once again, but this time, after about 30 minutes, it crashed again. The same blue screen showed up. As I expected, the new Adobe Flash Update crashes with the Firefox 13.0.1. Really need a solution here. Thank you.

    Hi,
Blue screens usually indicate Windows system level problems involving device drivers like graphics card drivers, hardware errors (RAM, hard drive) etc. Malware may also cause this. Searching for the displayed error code would usually provide helpful pointers. The [http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us Windows forum] would also be helpful.
