Style by user/group

I have 1 corporate portal page group, but we have 3 divisions. Each division has their own style settings. How can I set all pages in the page group to display with style of user's division
ex: div 1 style = div1mstrstyle (mostly green)
div 2 style = div2mstrstyle (mostly brown)
if a div 1 user signs on all their headers footers ect should be green, but if a div 2 user signs on they would be brown

hi,
it is not possible to have styles/templates based on users/groups.
however, here is an idea of how you could achieve this.
1. create 3 differnt page groups for each department. if you do not want to duplicate the content (items) you could have 1 page group to hold the content. in the division home pages you just reference the items from there and use the layout of the division home page to render it. 2 ways to do this:
- use the auto-query search portlet and query content from there
- use page portlets
2. creat 1 page group with 3 sub-pages. 1 for each division. you can apply a different layout for each folder (and sub-folders).

  • When do I use user group "wheel"?

    Hello,
    I have the following question: What exactly is the user group "wheel" for and when do I use it (instead of "admin", for example)? Background to the question is, I recently noticed that some applications needed to be updated regarding ownership and ACLs.
    I had installed them while working as a non-admin user by drag and drop, authenticating as an admin user (which is short named "admin", too) when asked to identify as one. The apps were installed alright, but the ownership was set to the non-admin user, while the group was "admin". This caused some problems with BOINC, for instance, which I tried to fix by updating ownership and ACL, accordingly.
    When checking other apps that were installed with Mac OS X I noticed that most belonged to "root" (aka "System") and group "wheel" instead of "admin". This lets me wonder about when to use which group.
    Does anyone know about the backgrounds of this?
    Thank you in advance
    Jim

    Regarding your original question:
    "I had installed them while working as a non-admin user by drag and drop, authenticating as an admin user (which is short named "admin", too) when asked to identify as one."
    Okay, a couple of things here.
    First of all, for the most part, whenever you copy files in the Finder, the copied files take on the ownership of the person doing the copying (there's one exception which we'll see in the next paragraph). Since you were in a non-admin account, the Finder realized that in order to modify the /Applications/ folder, you'd need to first authenticate with an administrator name and password to obtain permission. Once permission was granted, the copied files took on the ownership of the user doing the copying (the non-admin user).
    "The apps were installed alright, but the ownership was set to the non-admin user, while the group was "admin"."
    Let's say you have a folder "ExampleFolder" whose owner is "root" and group is "admin". When you copy an item into the ExampleFolder, the copied item will take on the group permission value from the parent folder. That's why the item you copied had a group of "admin" (since the /Applications/ folder's group is "admin").
    "When checking other apps that were installed with Mac OS X I noticed that most belonged to "root" (aka "System") and group "wheel" instead of "admin"."
    Hmm, as far as I can tell, that's not true. Almost all of the applications in the /Applications/ folder will be drwxrwxr-x, root-owned, and group of "admin". Note that there is a display bug in the Ownership & Permissions section of the Finder's Inspector-style Info window in Tiger. The values shown in the pop up menus for owner and group do not update dynamically as you change your selection. Instead, they continue to show the owner and group of the original item on which you first opened the Inspector panel. So, for example, if you selected the /System/ folder, which has an owner of root and group of wheel, and then opened the Inspector window, any subsequent items you selected (such as applications in the /Applications/ folder) would still appear to have a group of "wheel". (The regular style Finder Get Info windows are fine).
    Hope this helps.....

  • Permissions for Style Resource Readers Group

    Hello
    I am in the process of cleaning up permissions for my SharePoint 2013 site and looking at this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262690.aspx, it states very clearly that the Style Resource Readers group should have permissions such as 'Read
    to the Master Page Gallery and Restricted Read to the Style Library'.
    On my SharePoint 2013 site, I go to Site Settings > People and Groups > Style Resource Readers. I then click Settings > View Group Permissions and I noticed that this group also has "Limited Access" to the homepage, a sub site, the publishedlinks
    folder, Quick Deploy Items and Site Collection Images folders.
    Does the Style Resource Readers group need access to these folders and if not how do I change the permissions for this group?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Yoshi

    You do not need to modify anything with Style Resource Reader group unless you are planning on adding users to that group. Personally I will advise against it.
    Limited Access in SharePoint means that there are permission assigned to a user or group on one or more site artifacts i.e. list, folder, item but no permission is assigned to access site.
    So Style Resource Readers group out of the box has the Read permission to master page gallery. If you read the description it reads.
    "Members of this group are given read permission to the master page gallery and the Restricted read permission to the Style Library. By default,
    all authenticated users are a member of this group."
    So don't worry about this group and leave it as is given SharePoint already assigned required permission at the master page gallery and style library level for this group.

  • OIM 9.1.0.2 - User group permission conflict issue

    Hi Gurus,
    IHAC who have faced a strange behavior about permission conflict.
    User has been assigned to a user group (ANALISTA DRSI) who have permission to disable resource of the users he administrates. The user group has been assigned to resource's administrator.
    The same use has been assigned to other user group (ANALISTA ADM DRSI) who have other permission. The user group has been not assigned to resource's administrator.
    If the user has been only assigned to ANALISTA DRSI user group the user is able to see records on Rogue Account report. If the customer has been assigned to both ANALISTA DRSI and ANALISTA ADM the user is not able to see the record on Rogue Account report. He got a display error message (You do not have permission). Both user groups have the Report menu item assigned.
    My question: if the customer is assigned to a user group who have permission to see the reports, should not the user is able to see the report even though he is also into the other group who do not have permission?
    Is there conflit in the OIM???
    Any tip will be very appreciated.

  • Trash and user group help!

    why do i need to type in password when i delete things? how do i remove it?
    and i can't delete items directly from the dock as well. like opening from the downloads folder and dragging the file to trash. i have to bring open up Finder and delete from the folder directly.
    another issue is that am i able to remove the gues user from my start up screen? i've already disabled it from the user groups but i still see it in my login screen.
    one last problem, is it a norm to have current leakage for the MBP? i've been having frequent shocks from the 2 bottom corners of it when i plug it in to a power source. i bought it from an authorized retailer and using it in the country where i've gotten it from. i've just gotten my mbp about 3 weeks back.
    thanks for replying my queries!

    Hi,
    Yeah in ACS 3.1 its under the Shared Profile Components page. In ACS 4.1 its directly under the user groups or under SPC page.
    You need to check the box for "define ip based access restriction" and deny access for all other groups to the wireless access points network device group.
    ACS 3.X)
    1. Denied Calling/Point of access restrictions
    2. AAA Clients =UPS_PDU (Power Supplies)
    3. Port = just put a * for all
    4. Src IP address = just put a * as well
    SUBMIT to SAVE
    Create a second one for the other group like so:
    1. Denied Calling/Point of access restrictions
    2. AAA Clients =Routers_Switches
    3. Port = just put a * for all
    4. Src IP address = just put a * as well
    Click submit to save it.
    Go to the ACS User groups section and select the Network Administrators Group " that don't need access to the UPS's" and apply the NAR you created to that group. Do the same for the other grouping.
    (ACS 4.X)
    Go directly under the "user groups" and create the NAR under there. No need to go under the Shared Profile Components section
    Hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance or explanation.

  • Pulling user/group field data from SharePoint list using REST, jQuery, Knockout.js Sharepoint 2013

    I'm trying to make an interactive task board based on the task list app in SharePoint 2013. The task lisk includes fields like "Title","Description","Status","% Complete","Due Date","Assigned To",
    etc. I used knockout.js to bind "Title","Description", and "Status" to my HTML controls. Here is some of the code:
    var ViewModal = function(items, listname){
    var self = this;
    self.sortBy = ko.observableArray(sortBy);
    self.tasks = ko.observableArray(items);
    self.listname = ko.observable(listname);
    self.auto = ko.observable(false);
    self.getTasks = function() {
    clearTimeout(self.getTasks);
    // server relative url to REST service endpoint
    var ajaxurl = _spPageContextInfo.webServerRelativeUrl + "/_vti_bin/listdata.svc/" + self.listname() + "?$orderby=PriorityValue";
    $.ajax({
    type: "GET",
    url: ajaxurl,
    contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
    dataType: "json",
    cache: false,
    processData: true,
    success: function (data, status, xhr) {
    if (status == "success" && data) {
    ko.mapping.fromJS(data.d.results, mapping, self.tasks)
    $(".task-item").draggable();
    error: alert
    if (self.auto()) {
    setTimeout(self.getTasks, 10000);
    <div class="tasks-column">
    <div class="column-header">Not Started</div>
    <!-- ko foreach: tasksNotStarted -->
    <div class="task-item">

    <button class="edit" data-bind="click: $root.editTask">edit</button>
    <h2><span data-bind="text: Title"></span></h2>
    <div data-bind="html: Description"></div>

    <input type="text" data-bind="value: Title"></input>
    </div>
    </div>
    I'm having trouble displaying the data from the "Assigned To" user/group field. I tried:
    <span data-bind="text: AssignedTo"></span>
    But it displays the field as [object Object]
    I tried using $select/$expand
    ?$select=Title,AssignedTo/Id,Assignedto/Title&$expand=AssignedTo/Id,AssignedTo/T‌itle";
    But it still returns the [object Object]

    Hi,
    Please use the REST URI below:
    /_api/lists/getbytitle('ListName')/items?$select=Title,AssignedTo/ID,AssignedTo/Title&$expand=AssignedTo/ID,AssignedTo/Title

    Welcome to the new Oracle User Group Community. Whether you landed here via the redirect from the previous community site - IOUC.org - or navigated here directly, welcome. This new platform brings new community features to enhance the way you connect with user group peers and with Oracle, as well as make it easier for you to find information through a more intuitive interface. We invite you to provide your feedback on the new site. Log in using your OTN Forum credentials and join the discussion here. If you do not yet have OTN Forum log in credentials, navigate to http://community.oracle.com/community, click on the "Register" link in the upper right corner of the page and create your account.
    We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Kashif,
    Glad you like the new Community. Communication among user group leaders works a little differently on this site than on the previous site. Rather than having communication focus around e-mail distribution lists, communication now is focused within the site itself. The intent is that this will provide users the one place to come for information, rather than having to sort through lots of e-mail threads. That doesn't mean that e-mail is completely out of the picture though. Users can opt-in to receive e-mail notifications when an individual piece of content is changed, or when content is posted to a space. Look for the "Receive email notifications" link under "Actions" to start receiving notices. To stop receiving notices, go back to the same content/space and click "Stop email notifications".
    Your Relationship Manager will be talking with you and the other leaders in your region over the next few days and weeks regarding how you and your group of leaders want to communicate.
    Best regards,

    Hello all,
    I am trying to Populate the user group instead of the group ID in MFA. I want to use this to create authorization permissions, after authentication. I am running into the problem of not getting any info after authentication in the attribute dump.  Are

  • Is there a way to pull  User, Group , Other permissions of a file

    I wanted to know whether Java provides any API to pull up each and every permission associated with a file.
    For example: In Unix, a file has 3 sets of permissions as shown below:
    <UserPermissions><GroupPermissions><Others'Permissions>
    Example: -rwxrwxrwx
    r - for read
    w - for write
    x - for execute
    There are some methods provided in java.io.File, such as canRead() and canWrite(), which help in telling whether a file is readable or writable. But I did not find any API which tells whether a perticular user has read/write/execute permission or not. Also, I presume the canRead(),canWrite() methods pull up the permissions pertaining to the owner of the file, but not for the group and others part of a Unix File's permissions.
    Is there a way to pull up the read/write/executable permissions for all the 3 catergories namely, UserPermissions, GroupPermissions and Others'Permissions.
    I appreciate your note on this and appreciate your time too.

    In the java.io.File class, there's methods canRead() and canWrite().
    They will test the read/write permissions of the Unix user you are running your Java program with.
    They will not return a list of user names, user groups etc though.
    You'd have to get the permissions through some platform specific method, eg. via JNI.
    regards,
    Owen

  • How can I delete a user group that my computer will not delete?

    I tried to remove a user group from my desktop following the procedures given. I could remove all but one user.
    This is the one I want to remove. How can I do this? I have 4 user groups. Why?, when ever I had trouble and called AppleCare
    they had me install a new user group, which I never removed.

    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
    Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    dscl . -read /groups/admin GroupMembership
    You should get the following output below what you entered:
    GroupMembership: root admin1 admin2 ...
    where admin1, admin2, ... are the names of the admin users. Is the output what you expect?

    Please advice.

    Hi
    Please check if the user has authorization to that query....
    For example if the user is a PA administrator & you are trying to assign this user to a user group which is Time Management ( Time Infosets), then the tick will be disabled.
    This case was encountered in our firm too.
    Please check & revert.
