Style sheeps and the drop caps
Here it is :
I would like to be able to create a style sheet that enables me to have the first letter in my text bloc to be a a drop cap of a different font, size, kerning and colour than the rest of the text in the bloc (see pic hereunder). What I don't want is for this to be applied to anything other than the first letter in the bloc, irrrespective of how many paragraphs there are in the bloc. In other words I do not want this style to be applied to the first letter of each successive paragraph in my bloc.
Simple question, but I'll be damned if I can do it.
Any light shed would be most helpful.

You have to create a specific paragraph style with a drop cap and another for the rest of your text.
You can based the first one (with the drop cap) on the second. So if you make any changes in the second they will also affect the first pargarph style. So no big deal.
Also use caracter style for your drop cap.
You can use also the feature "next style": in the paragraph style with the drop cap choose the name of the second in the "next style" pop-up.
If you select all your text and make a right-click you can choose to "apply this paragraph style and next". In one click you will format all your text…

Control space after the Drop Cap

We character style drop caps. When the DC is a single character, we use the tracking in the character style to add space to the right of the dropped character. However, this method cannot be used when it is a two character drop, in this case, chapter numbers are dropped 2 lines. We want to adjust the space between the dropped number and the start of text, and keep that space equal on both lines.
Any suggestions?
ThanksThe first issue is still that humbled wasn't able to add space after the drop caps and maintain alignment of the text. Bottom line is that his method of using character spacing was a bad hack. I'm pointing out that the alternative solutions he tried (ex. post #4) didn't work because he wasn't using the correct value for the number of drop characters. And per his post #21, he is still assuming that 2 is the correct value to define a double digit drop cap. If he gets past that, solutions to other complications may come easier.<br /><br />In fact, unless he needs some specific sized space HIS WHOLE PROBLEM FROM START TO FINISH could be solved simply by selecting 3 as the number of characters for his drop caps rather than sticking with 2. That would have the effect of including the space after the chapter numbers as part of the drop cap making it larger and adding considerably more space.<br /><br />If he does need more space, then he is going to have to add another character. But that character still has to be included in the DC character count:<br /><br />12<space>Text (3 drop caps)<br />12<hardspace>Text (3 drop caps)<br />12<space><hardspace>Text (4 drop caps)<br /><br />He can even use a tab character for a specific indent if he wants. Just switch a tab for the hardspace above.<br /><br />P.S. The same logic holds true for in single drop caps. If you want extra space after, increase the drop cap count to 2 to include the space after.

When I updated firefox to 4.0 the only things that really changed were a couple of buttons and the position of the tabs, the blue navigation bar and the drop down menus for file etc didn't change at all.
My computer also freezes when visiting certain websites with firefox, not Every time I visit but frequently. The websites are usually commonly visited websites (Gmail, stuff.co.nz) and don't do it when I am using internet explorer or another computer. This started when I downloaded the upgrade.
I use a net-book with Windows XP.To get the new style UI you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them. -
Safari keeps dropping down this error message when ever i try to log on to any website safai can't verify the identity of the website ( e.g.. any address ) and the drop down has three choices to click on or else you can't go foward., they are check certificate ______ cancel ______ continue.... This thing is so annoying when trying to go somewhere i just want the error message to go away.
In your Keychain under 'login' delete the VeriSign certificates and then quit and restart all browsers/itunes/app store.

When I tried to open the web browser the browser flashed black and white at start up, then all the applications when i open a new window are completely black, I am unable to view the drop down menus as the come out as random pixels. This happens to all new applications i have been able to open. The document window opens as plain white but if you click on it it opens a document even though you cant see any thumb nails. Some of the documents are open as normal images/files. Having been a mac user for 10 years i have never seen anything like this before, any ideas or suggestions
I have started running a virus check.
There are no viruses for OSX. Uninstall the software, repair permissions and restart your computer. Especially if it's Norton's. It's known to cause problems.

I wonder if this will ever be sorted out. It seems that people have been dealing with drop outs in Logic since forever. I used Cubase for about 6 years and the concept of a drop out where the playback stops and you have to click a window to acknowledge it doesn't exist. CPU loade doesn't matter. At high cpu load, you'll get pops and clicks and whatnot, but the audio playback doesn't just stop. Cakewalk Sonar is also notorious for this drop out thing. It's just kind of amazing that this isn't seen as enough of a problem that even After Apple took over, they haven't seen fit to fix it. Makes me wonder if the problem that causes it is just to deep to dig out without too much change to the application.

Nope, I'm running 7.1.1 and OS 10.4.3. I don't know if .4, .5, .6 or .7 offer any significant improvements when it comes to running Logic, and admittedly I haven't done any research to find out either... I went through months of trauma with my LP7/OSX system. Since then my system's been stable and I've been reluctant to make any significant changes to the OS or to crossgrade.
The one chance I'm willing to take at this point is if and when a bug-fix version of Logic 7.1.1 appears, or, if a version with an enhanced score editor ever comes to fruition. Until then, I'm pretty happy with my system so I'm gonna stay put for a while. -
when I go to another website the back button to the home button never works. the home button works. I can't do any or the above mentioned features
This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I can not longer delete bookmarks from the bookmark file since "organize bookmarks" is no longer an option in Firefox 4. Also the bookmarks that didn't fit in my bookmark tool bar used to be accessible to the far right of the toolbar in a drop down menu. Now I have "bookmarks" in my bookmark menu taking up space instead of a drop down arrow with just my selected bookmarks that didn't fit in the toolbar.

The only way I can describe the problem is, the word Firefox appears on top with a drop down arrow. The next line is the backward/forward button with the address bar. Next is the Most Visited button, Getting Started, Latest Headlines and to the far right Bookmarks. The next line begins with Yahoo logo exclamation mark, search, my mail icon, my My yahoo icon, bookmark icon, messenger icon, yahoo answers icon, the weather icon and finally facebook icon, and to the far right Channels, Notifications, Share this page and toolbar settings. Next final line, tabs I have opened.

Browser didn't re-open last session and the drop down option is greyed out!
I had a lot of tabs open on Firefox, I wanted to open it up and restore from last session so I could make a bookmark folder for them all and then do an update on my computer. However when I opened Firefox I didn't get the option to restore my previous session. I've read a lot of threads but I really really don't understand what to do, I am using a Mac and most seem to refer to Windows computers. I'm running 10.9.5 on my MacBook Pro and 33.1.1 on Firefox. I have (with great difficulty and tears) managed to find the files called recovery.js etc. in my finder but have no idea what I'm now supposed to do now! When I open the file it appears in safari as code. I was about to rename the recovery.bak file as recovery.js as advised to by someone else's thread but my computer gave me a warning message telling me that what I was doing was risky so I got scared. I'm hoping one of you can help me! Also another thread suggested I back up however I seem to have to close the browser in order to do that and I'm worried that if I do that then my 'previous session' will become this one and not the one with all my precious tabs...

It seems as if you have purchased the upgrade version of Acrobat 11.
The Enter Serial Number Upgrade screen accepts only the serial number of a previous version of the product that you are currently installing.
If in case you do not have any previous version of Acrobat then it will be considered as incorrect purchase. You should have purchased a full version of Acrobat.

The CS6 serial number is a valid number, but the products on the install list which stops at CS5.5. Does anyone know where I can find the link that will let me install ver 6
It sounds like you are installing an upgrade version of CS6 and it is asking you to provide the information for the older qualifying version that you are upgrading from. After you enter the CS6 serial number you select the older version from the list and then enter the serial number for the older version to prove that you qualify to use CS6. See the following...

So have a Drop Cap set up as a nested style for an opening chapter for a book. Body style is Sabon and the Drop Cap is Gill Sans and is set up through 1 character. The drop cap is applying the Gill Sans properly to the first letter (which is the Drop Cap), but it's also making the next character Gill Sans as well (not as a drop cap but in its regular size. So for example, the word "All" starts the paragraph, and the A is Gill Sans and a drop Cap, and the first 'l' is Gill Sans and the second "l" Sabon. I've cleared all charcter styles and still the second character won't automatically change to Sabon. I've even tried setting the Nested Style through 1 letter, but that didn't help either.
Using latest version of CC.Why do you use nested style? Use only the proper style in Drop Character section of the nested styles.
