Style Sheet List

Is there a way to create a list of style sheets from the Style Sheet Panel? I need a separate file of all my style sheet names.

There is script that does this.
Have a look at http://pdsassoc.com/index.php?Nav=downssub&Ban=InformalUtilitiesForDownload&Info=download s/index.php
There is a script called Text Styles Reporter. It only works with CS2 presently.

  • Style Sheets: Retrofitting previously-numbered lists

    Hello wonderful INDD community!
    I have learned so much since my last visit here, and I want to say Thank you! You've helped me "up my game" with nested style sheets and grep!
    Working on the same catalog project as I was discussing before, and I've run into this quandary:
    This catalog has quite a lot of numbered lists, most of which were already numbered when I got them. I'm wanting to differentiate the numbers from the titles (which I've further differentiated from the descriptions using Nested Styles), but am having trouble deciding the best way to do it.
    The reason I bring my woes here is because this group, I know, members here will help me find the BEST way to do it! Not just any ole way.
    I sort of see two ways of approaching it:
    Using GREP Styles to identify the item numbers and also to insert a second tab to allow me to right-align the numbers. The 1st part, I think I can do, the 2nd part kind of makes my head spin.
    Converting these hand-typed numbered lists to INDD auto-numbered lists. The hurdle here, to me, is how to get rid of the debris of the hand-typed numbers in some easy automated way? This concept is kind of the reverse of INDD's "Convert Bullets and Numbering to Text" feature. A "Convert Text to Numbering" command.
    Now, it's easy for me to believe that somebody here in this forum has a better idea. I just wanted to prove to you that I've done my homework. Hours of it, in fact.
    Can peoples take a look at the attached image which attempts to illustrate what I'm after?
    Thanks SO MUCH,
    Mick

    Howdy all--
    Ok with some begrudgement, I have to say that technically this works.
    It's kind of slow-going though..and it's not without anguish, which isn't an indictment of Jongware's implementation; probably more an indication of my ignorance.
    What I'm doing is:
    Highlighting a list
    Styling it to a paragraph style that uses INDD's built in auto-numbering feature
    Running Jongware's GREP pattern (thank you!) to get rid of the old hand-typed numbers
    Placing the cursor in the middle of the first entry and right-clicking and selecting "Restart Numbering."
    I know this isn't exactly what the Doctor ordered, Jongware, but I prefer this modified workflow because it kept me from needing to change the "find/change" box back and forth between two states (even if those two states were only the one format change). I was afraid that would start boggling my brain after doing it many dozens of times..
    SO-- The thing that bugs me is step #4. I don't really understand the INDD behavior when it comes to auto-numbering. In the paragraph style I created  (see screen cap), if I set it to "start at 1" with a series of items highlighted, it numbers them all "1". If I say "continue from previous number," it refers to some bit of previous numbering in the story and picks up from there. Hence step #4.
    Anybody care to shed some light on INDD's kind of odd auto-numbering tendencies (or my ignorance?) :-)
    thanks again,
    Mick

  • How to apply style sheet (.css) in Weblogic directory listing

    Hi,
    We are migrating a directory listing application from Apache to Weblogic.
    Earlier we did this by Apache httpd.conf entry like below :
    <Directory "/opt/apache/httpd-2.1.9/htdocs/Myreportfolder">
    IndexOptions FancyIndexing FoldersFirst NameWidth=* XHTML
    IndexOrderDefault Descending Date
    IndexStyleSheet "/css/style.css"
    </Directory>
    /opt/apache/httpd-2.1.9/htdocs folder has all it's usual resource files.
    We were able to see documents in "Myreportfolder".
    Now we have moved to Weblogic and using virtual directory mapping as below and we are trying to achieve the same thing:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <wls:weblogic-web-app xmlns:wls="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-web-app" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-web-app http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/weblogic-web-app/1.0/weblogic-web-app.xsd">
    - <wls:container-descriptor>
    <wls:index-directory-enabled>true</wls:index-directory-enabled>
    <wls:index-directory-sort-by>LAST_MODIFIED</wls:index-directory-sort-by>
    </wls:container-descriptor>
    - <wls:virtual-directory-mapping>
    <wls:local-path>/Myreportfolder</wls:local-path>
    <wls:url-pattern>/*</wls:url-pattern>
    </wls:virtual-directory-mapping>
    <wls:context-root>/getreports</wls:context-root>
    </wls:weblogic-web-app>
    We are able to view the reports but we do not get look-and-feel of Apache like directory listing.
    but we encounter below issues:
    1) File/Folder icons are not visible - we want to use style sheets in http header from the response that is returned from weblogic server
    2) Filename is limited to 29 characters when it is showing
    3) Files are not sortable as Descending order - we sorted using tag <wls:index-directory-sort-by>LAST_MODIFIED</wls:index-directory-sort-by> but the latest file is shown at the last
    We are thinking that Weblogic must be having some configuration like Apache httpd.conf where we can apply style sheets (css ).
    We would appreciate af anyone can provide better insight into the issue.
    or is it possible to extend weblogic.servlet.fileservlet class to serve this purpose.
    Thanks & regards,
    Rabi

  • (none) style gets applied to numbered list & font size not matching text in my style sheet

    RoboHelp 9 (9.0.2.271)
    Something is wrong with my style sheet, and it only started happening after I created Master Page for the first time. This happens whether or not the new Master Page is applied to a topic:  Every time I type any text in a topic, then click the Numbered List icon in the toolbar, the style goes from Normal to (none), and the font changes from my style sheet's Normal 10pt to 8pt, for the number as well as the text.
    I don't see how the new Master Page has anything to do with it because it's not applied to this particular topic.  I had created a Master Page in RoboHelp HTML and applied my style sheet, then my topics to it. I have a footer in the Master Page and applied 8pt font using inline formatting (not the style sheet).
    I created a new project to see what would happen.
    When I apply my style sheet, then apply the numbered list to text, the text font is correct (10pt), but the number font is wrong (8pt).
    But when I apply the default style sheet to the topic, the number font and text font match.
    How can I get the number and text fonts to match in my style sheet?
    I found a workaround by applying inline formatting to the next (10pt) after selecting the text and clicking the numbered list icon.  Below is the html code.  The numbered steps in red are the ones that are not correct (8 pt).  The code with the correct formatting (after I applied inline formatting) is in blue.
    <body>
    <h1>My Overview</h1>
    <p>example</p>
    <ol type="1">
    <li>first step</li>
    <li>second step</li>
    </ol>
    <ol type="1">
    <li style="font-size: 10pt;">Fixed by applying inline formatting to
      10pt after selecting the numbered list icon</li>
    <li style="font-size: 10pt;">next step</li>
    </ol>
    <p>&#160;</p>
    <?rh-placeholder type="footer" ?>
    </body>
    Thanks.

    Amebr,
    That was helpful.  I'm looking at a topic now, and both the Apply Style list on the Formatting toolbar show (none) when I click a numbered list that I created using the Created a Numbered List or Create a Bulleted List on the toolbar.
    This is the html code for the correct font (10pt):
    <ol>
    <li class="p">this is the (none) style when I use the numbering button
      on the toolbar (which is inline formatting)</li>
    <li class="p">this is the (none) style when I use the numbering button
      on the toolbar&#160;(which is inline formatting)</li>
    <li class="p">this is the (none) style when I use the numbering button
      on the toolbar&#160;(which is inline formatting)</li>
    </ol>
    Both styles list show the correct custom styles I created for numbered lists, though.  Below is the code (correct font):
    <ol>
    <li class="p-ProcedureSteps"><p class="ProcedureSteps">this is from
      my custom numbered style and looks correct</p></li>
    </ol>
    What's strange is, if I create a list and highlight it, then click the Apply Numbered List button in the toolbar, the numbers and text font size changes to 8 point and my Normal font is 10 pt, and both style lists show (none).  That's what I wanted to figure out in my original post.  I opened up the stylesheet and I don't see where that's applied.  In Flare, you can easily see in a table how the styles are formatted, down to each class.
    This is the code for the incorrect font (8pt):
    <ol type="1">
    <li>why is this 8pt?</li>
    <li>why is this 8pt?</li>
    <li>why is this 8pt?</li>
    </ol>
    Below is a screenshot.
    Maybe someone can figure this out. Thanks!

  • Numbered List and Bulleted List w/ Custom Style Sheet

    Hi,
    I am a new user to RoboHelp 7, and must say I find it useful
    but also painful to use. Currently I’m trying to solve
    something that feels like a bug in RoboHelp 7, but before I give in
    and accept defeat I wanted to check with the forum.
    I have FrameMaker 8, and import the files to RH where I use
    them to create WebHelp projects.
    Here’s a short procedure:
    1. I Import my files with a predefined style sheet matching
    the FM styles.
    2. I also check the Convert to HTML list option and set all
    numbering and bullet styles to User defined.
    - After import RH does the usual thing and creates a bunch
    of style sheets on its own
    3. I select all the files from the Topic List pod and apply a
    new custom style sheet. This enables me to have one style sheet for
    all the HTML files with the right layout and formatting
    4. I generate the output, and RH uses the new style sheet
    reference
    The resulting HTML files shows that the output is not the
    same as the generated HTML shown in RH’s HTML editor view
    - Editor view: <li class=”style”>
    - Browser view: <li>
    6. If I make a change (e.g. add a space) and save the HTML
    file, and generate the project again the HTML is correct in the
    browser
    One could argue that it’s not a big problem; however,
    with a large project this is starting to look more like a nightmare
    Does anyone know of this problem, and if so can it be fixed?
    Kind regards,
    Jon

    Is this the time when I get really angry at Adobe for creating the worst FrameMaker/RoboHelp integration ever? No! However, I must admit that I'm amazed that they are unable to solve an important feature as conversion of lists from a FrameMaker document to a RoboHelp WebHelp project. When I say conversion I mean a clean conversion with minimal interference from RoboHelp that allows me to use CSS to its full extent.
    Here's the problem, and this was also the problem with RoboHelp 7 and FrameMaker 8. BTW, I use standalone versions (not TCS 1 or 2).
    Figures: First image depicts FrameMaker 9's Paragraph Designer and the Autonumber format for a paragraph named VizNumbered. Second image depicts the RoboHelp 8's conversion setting.
    FrameMaker uses Autonumbering in front of paragraphs to create lists. This means that you in RoboHelp need to manage two formats, the autonumber and the paragraph style.
    RoboHelp does of course not (by default) use Autonumbering in front of paragraphs because a RoboHelp WebHelp project is HTML based, and list tags in HTML can perfectly handle any formatting of text etc.
    RoboHelp will convert, when "Convert Autonumber to HTML List" is selected, the Autonumber in FrameMaker to a list tag (LI). By default this will generate a list with a lot of margin, font and other CSS properties that tries to simulate the way the list is laid out in the FrameMaker document. In addition to the list tags it will convert the FrameMaker paragraph to a P tag which it inserts within a list tag. The issue you will experience with this is that indentations with the paragraph tag does not align properly between line 1 and 2. At the same time the WebHelp project will not look the same in IE, Firefox or Chrome. That is, Chrome and Firefox will look the same, and IE different. IE has the WYSIWYG feel, but it does not comply well with W3C standards (i.e. using P tags enclosed by LI tags is not a good idea ...).
    Selecting "Convert Autonumber to RoboHelp List" does something similar, but is not recommended at all!
    So, here's the big question. How can I make sure RoboHelp understands that I ONLY need to define a list tag with a CSS class attribute attached to it?
    Today I basically only get the following:
    <li><p class=""></p></li> or,
    <p class=""></p>
    What I want is the following:
    <li class=""></li>
    Can this be solved with today's versions, can anyone help me, or do I have to wait for the Adobe development team to realize this and to fix it?

  • Use of tables and style sheet

    Hi all,
    I am strungling using tables in RoboHelp HTML 7, to generate
    webhelp.
    What I try to accomplish is using tables in RH, and have its
    formatting defined in a style sheet. The html code generated by RH
    should be nice and clean. If possible I would not like to go into
    the HTML code, I prefer the use of the Design editor.
    I have the following in a new file in the RoboHelp table
    gallery:
    quote:
    <table>
    <caption>CAPTIONTITLE</caption>
    <COL style="width: 5%;">
    <COL style="width: 40%;">
    <thead>
    <tr><th></th><th></th></tr>
    </thead>
    <tbody>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    </tbody>
    </table>
    The following is in the CSS file:
    quote:
    table {
    border: 2px #c0c0c0 solid;
    border-collapse: collapse;
    width: "100%";
    margin: 10px;
    td, th {
    border: 1px #c0c0c0 solid;
    padding-left: 5px;
    padding-right: 10px;
    text-align: left;
    vertical-align: top;
    th {
    background: #ffc000;
    When I insert a table into a page, using the table file I
    created above, the html looks like:
    quote:
    <table x-use-null-cells>
    <col style="width: 33.333%;">
    <col style="width: 33.333%;">
    <col style="width: 33.333%;">
    <tr><td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left:
    10px;" width=33.333%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px;"
    width=33.333%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px;"
    width=33.333%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    <tr><td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left:
    10px;" width=33.333%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px;"
    width=33.333%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px;"
    width=33.333%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    <tr><td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left:
    10px;" width=33.333%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px;"
    width=33.333%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px;"
    width=33.333%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    </table>
    So, RoboHelp adds a number of styles to the inserted table
    that overrules the style sheet. That shouldn't be done.
    Also, in the RoboHelp editor the table looks different than
    in the preview. That shouldn't be a big deal, but something is
    missing:
    - There's no table caption shown.
    - The background in the table header is not colored as I
    expected to be.
    To eliminate the behavior of RoboHelp with respect to the
    table gallery, I created a new page in RoboHelp, and opened the
    HTML view. I inserted the following to create a new table.
    quote:
    <table>
    <caption>CAPTIONTITLE</caption>
    <COL style="width: 5%;">
    <COL style="width: 40%;">
    <thead>
    <tr><th></th><th></th></tr>
    </thead>
    <tbody>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    <tr><td></td><td></td></tr>
    </tbody>
    </table>
    When switching to Design view and bach to HTML, it has been
    converted by RoboHelp to:
    quote:
    <table x-use-null-cells>
    <col style="width: 5%;">
    <col style="width: 40%;">
    <caption>CAPTIONTITLE</caption>
    <tr><th style="width: 5%;" width=5%>
    <p> </th>
    <th style="width: 40%;" width=40%>
    <p> </th></tr>
    <tr><td style="width: 5%;" width=5%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="width: 40%;" width=40%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    <tr><td style="width: 5%;" width=5%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="width: 40%;" width=40%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    <tr><td style="width: 5%;" width=5%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="width: 40%;" width=40%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    <tr><td style="width: 5%;" width=5%>
    <p> </td>
    <td style="width: 40%;" width=40%>
    <p> </td></tr>
    </table>
    That seems ok, there are no styles redefined, other that the
    width.
    In Design view the table looks different than intended,
    however in preview it is as expected. I shows the caption tile, and
    the background of the table header, and text alignment is correct
    (at the top of each cell).
    So, my interpretation is that RoboHelp messes up the nice and
    neat html code when using the table gallery, and does not show the
    table in Design view as it would like in the Preview.
    As a consequence I think I will copy and paste the table code
    into the html directly, rather than using the table gallery.
    Unless, there's a good solution by using the table gallery.
    It would also be nice that the Design view behaves as a
    WYSIWYG editor.
    Has anyone an idea how I can use tables in RoboHelp as easy
    as possible, while keeping the benefits of style sheets?
    TIA,
    Andre
    BTW, my excuses for using quotes rather than attach code, but
    it seemed all code was added to the end.

    You should avoid locking yourself into a single solution for
    anything to do with RH (or any other help authoring tool, for that
    matter). Whether dealing with lists, tables, or images (the three
    major areas that usually create problems), it's wise to strike a
    balance between the features and drawbacks in HTML, CSS, RH, and
    web browsers.
    Confronted with the issue of changing border colors and table
    heading colors earlier this year (and having to do this for the 42
    projects in our merged WebHelp project), I simply used
    FAR to change the hex numbered
    colors in the code, outside of RH (from #808080 to #d8e4f8, for
    example). Some freeware products for content replacement are also
    available.
    If you've used those colors for other things, such as H1/H2,
    or other backgrounds, etc., you'll need to identify all table uses
    first, and then change only those instances. You could then set up
    a batch file to change all border-right-color: #808080;
    border-left-color: #808080; etc. all at once
    You could also just use the RH Multi-File Find & Replace
    if you're only dealing with a few projects, since these table
    attributes are likely to always appear as complete on a single line
    (the RH feature doesn't handle search and replace strings
    interrupted by line breaks and multiple spaces).
    All of our tables had been created using Rick's solution via
    the Table Gallery, and the background and border colors show up
    identically in Design, Preview, and output views. The only use of
    the css for our tables is the styling of the actual text that
    appears in the cells (TableHead, TableRow, TableSubHead), such as
    shown in the attached code below.
    BTW, another look at your original post shows that your claim
    that "RoboHelp adds a number of styles to the inserted table that
    overrules the style sheet," is not quite on the mark. The only
    change is that the
    "padding-left:" value has been increased from the CSS 5px to
    10px. I would guess that you have a 5px indent in either your BODY
    or P tag in the CSS, thereby resulting in the value being increased
    to the total of 10px.
    Good luck,
    Leon

  • Moving CSS to an external style sheet [was: CSS]

    Hi
    I have in error created all my css for a site as "this doccument only" what i meant to do was create a site wide style sheet !
    Is there a way to copy my css and turn it into a .css file that applies to the whole site, without starting again.
    Help much appreciated.
    many thanks
    Mark

    Hi
    Highlight the css from the document and select - Format - css styles - move css rules. Select new style sheet from the dialog, name the style sheet and save. Check that a link has been created for the new style sheet, if not select attach style sheet from the - Format - css styles list.

  • GREP styles vs style sheets

    I've got a lull at work and decided to work on my list and start to learn GREP so that I can use GREP styles.
    The first one is a simple one:  [[A-Z][A-Z]\S+?] This finds anything inside the brackets that starts with two capital letters. I know it works because I can find "[MT2]" in Find/Change.
    OK, so I try it in some ID cs5 text with my first GREP style. It's failing the vast majority of the time. So I try lots of different things to see if I can find a pattern of what works and what doesn't. I've tried just the local formatting of a lone 'graf. I've tried making character and 'graf style sheets that incorporate a GREP style with the new character style, say "change type color to green".
    I've looked through the forums and don't see others with my problem so it must be something about me or my document. I've used other documents to eliminate that variable. I've gone through the tutorials and David Blatner's stuff and don't see anything I'm doing differently.
    When I format some text with a character and 'graf style sheet, it fails. BUT when I change the character style sheet of the source text to "[None]" it works. I've tried starting with text that is '[None]' and a 'graf style sheet of Normal, it works.
    But starting with text styled with '[None]' character and a formal 'graf style sheet with a GREP Style, it fails. But when I change the 'graf style sheet to ]'Basic Paragraph]' it works.
    I'm trying to find a pattern here, so to speak, and the only thing that has a chance to succeed is setting the character style sheet to 'None.' I just don't see than anyone who uses GREP styles has any problems like I do.
    What do you reckon I'm overlooking? I've spent today trying to find what works and doesn't. As it is, I can't recommend this to my co-workers.

    Rule of thumb for applying styles is basic formats for the entire paragraph should be defined in the paragraph style. If some selected bit of text needs to be formatted differnently, then you apply a character style (or, if you must, a local formatting override). With Nested Styles and GREP styles, ID has very powerful tools for applying character styles to selected text WITHIN the confines of the paragraph style definition. Most programs don't have that capability.
    Should you apply the character syle as a nested or GREP style, or perhaps through Find/Change, or just by manually selecting text and applying the style? The answer to that will depend on a few variables. Should the particular string ALWAYS have a particular set of attributes, no matter what? Find/Change or local selection is the way to go. Character styles applied that way will survive even if the underlying paragraph style is changed to match the character style, then changed again. If the style should be applied to a string in a particular position in a paragraph, even if that position might move around a bit, a nested style is probably the way to go. If you want to make changes to text that matches a particular pattern, wherever it falls, when the surrounding text is a particular style, a GREP style is the answer.
    GREP styles are very powerful, but they also use far more in terms of resources than applying a character style using other methods. I've seen reoprts of ID getting bogged down by too many GREP styles.

  • Applying Style Sheets to all Project Topics

    Currently I have topics that use different style sheets (there are 5 listed, although I only created one).
    I want all topics to use the same style sheet.
    Is there any way to apply a Style to all Project Topics?

    Welcome to the forum.
    Go to the topic list and select all topics, then right click and select Properties. You can assign the new CSS there. Any style names in your topics not included in the new CSS will of course be broken and need to be assigned to whatever style you choose.

  • Styles and Cascading Style Sheets ??

    We have existing many procedures in RH5X that we have created
    over the past two years. Our company has designed a new .css that
    contains new styles. Is there anyway to easily and quickly apply
    these new styles to our existing topics and projects?

    Look at it this way. Your old style sheet had two styles
    called black and white and the new one has red and green. How would
    RoboHelp know that for black you want red and for white, you want
    green?
    I take it you cannot use the old style names to avoid this
    problem. One solution is doing it manually. There is another but it
    might not work so make sure you have a good backup, or two!
    In your html you will find the styles look like this.
    <p class="yourstylename">
    You could do a multi file find and replace to change that to
    <p class="yournewstylename">
    With things like lists though it might not be perfect so it
    wil require a lot of testing.
    I am also curious that you have 75 RoboHelp licences to keep
    procedures up to to date. It sounds like an expensive operation.
    Just seems unusual. I would have expected these people to feed into
    a smaller team but maybe there's more to it.

  • Import Word to RH8 - can't select Style sheet to apply

    When importing a Word file to RH8 the new dialogue box series needs me to apply my style sheet on the 2nd screen...but even though Help says that a list will be provided, it is greyed out and I can't chose/add one:
    This causes all the numbers and bullets to be corrupted.  How do I get my style sheet to be available?  Thank you!

    No it doesn't, that's why it's greyed out. Click the Edit button to get at the settings you need.

  • Adjusted Style Sheet in portal

    I have read Note
    1059450 - Unified Rendering corrections (SAP_BASIS 700 SP13-Pre1)
    and wonder what actually the Adjusted Style Sheet is.
    Quote message from Note:
    Summary
    Symptom
    Unified rendering for Web Dynpro ABAP needs to be updated for error corrections.
    Other terms
    Solution
    The attached correction instructions contain the preliminary version of the Unified Rendering Support Package 13 for Web Dynpro ABAP.
    This corresponds to change list 101761.
    If you use the SAP Enterprise Portals, you must bear in mind the following:
    If you use Web Dynpro applications in a SAP Enterprise Portal with adjusted style sheet, the portal must have Version 7.0 Support Package 13 or higher.
    Could someone please advise?
    Thank you

    Hi Doug,
    don't know if I understand you correctly. If you want to use another stylesheet from another application server within your web dynpro which is integrated in portal you can overrule the portal style in the following way.
    -> Open the iView parameters (show all parameters) where you have integrated your web dynpro and where you want to change the stylesheet
    -> Go under "Application Parameters" and add the following url example as followed:
    sap-cssurl=<System.Access.WAS.protocol>://<System.Access.WAS.hostname>/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/ssr/themes/portal/ap_aponline/ur/ur.ie6.css
    In lower release (EP6 on WAS 6.20) you also must change "Hand over Portal Stylesheet" to No. In upper releases, this one is not existing anymore
    Hope that helps,
    Regards,
    Frank

  • Cascading Style Sheet

    When I attempt to either create a new Cascade Style Sheet or open an existing on in Designer (Microsoft 8) I get an error message saying that there is HTML code and the task cannot be completed.

    This forum is actually about the Cloud, not about using individual programs
    Once your program downloads and installs with no errors, you need the program forum
    If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
    You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use

  • Bloated CSS Style Sheet...

    My style sheet is about 60k... much too big.
    Trying to find a way to put it on a diet.
    Is there a way to convert it to ' css shorthand'?
    I set the preferences to use shorthand for css declarations but don't see any change in existing style sheets.
    Help appreciated.
    Dan H.

    Hi, Dan,
    Without your code in front of me, I'll be shooting arrows in the dark, but here goes. (at 60k, I'm pretty sure we don't want you to copy it in here!)
    1. Check for styles that are very nearly the same as each other. You can 'gang up' many styles into one declaration, and only separate out the bits that differ:
    Instead of
    h1 {
         font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
         color: blue;
         font-size: 1.4em;
    h2 {
         font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
         color: blue;
         font-size: 1.2em;
    h3 {
         font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
         color: blue;
         font-size: 1.1em;
    (note the similarities?) use
    h1, h2, h3 {
         font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
         color: blue;
         font-size: 1.4em;
    h2 { font-size: 1.2em;}
    h3 { font-size: 1.1em;}
    Put the fuller-bodied style first and the difference styles after, so they will rule for their particular attribute stylings.
    2. ONLY style those attributes that you need to style. You need not define EVERY possible attribute of a tag, etc. The lists of attributes that you see in the CSS Styles Panel (Show Category View, for instance) are only there for your convenience. They are not all there because you need to actually style them all, all the time. If you are restyling a Heading 1 and are only changing the default color to blue, only style that attribute.
    3. If you are using Spry Widgets, leave those styles in their own CSS file, don't bring them into your site CSS file. You can link multiple CSS files to your pages.
    If you see any of these possibilities for your style sheet diet, give them a try. If you can upload the file and give us a link, I'm sure we can come up with some additional suggestions!
