Style won't apply to text in Preview or Publish

I set up a character style to apply to section titles in my topics. The style is included in the .css file with the appropriate attributes. On the WYSIWYG pane, all appears perfect, but on the preview and after I publish, the style is gone.
I checked the .css file on the host server and it is as it should be (to the best of my knowledge). Is there anything else I could verify to correct this problem?

I'm more than a bit concerned by your mention of "I checked the .css file on the host server and it is as it should be (to the best of my knowledge)."
If you aren't totally certain about that aspect, the rest may be moot.
If you right-click the topic and choose to view the source when viewing from the server, do you find the styling attributes are still there for your text? Assuming they are, the issue would have to be with the CSS file.

'Space after' style not applying to text in 'preview in browser' (chrome) or export modes.

Hi all,
I seem to run into this issue everytime I have two paragraph style applied within one text container.
If I include a heading and apply a paragraph style which includes 'space after' and then some text below with another style it does not appear in either 'preview in browser' (Chrome) or in the exported html. The text appears butted up against each other. Please keep in mind there are no other paragraph or character styles applied to this container.
It works if I 'unlink style from selection'.
However this is extremely frustrating when you have a text heavy site with multiple paragraph styles - it effectively renders paragraph styles useless and generates excessive CSS code and a very time-consuming process if I need to go back and alter the paragraph styles.
Does anyone else experience this issue? Can anyone shed some light on this?
I need to get this site through to my client ASAP and would rather have a professional CSS file rather than one full of work-arounds.
Adobe, please respond ASAP.

For two separate paragraph styles to work in one text container in muse,
you need to use a hard return.
You would use Character Styles if you want to use two specific styles inside one text container
with just a "en space" between the text.
This is based on using Muse generated CSS and not going into the CSS files after Muse generated the code and altering to modify the look.

InDesign Paragraph Style won't apply / change

Im hoping someone might be able to help me troubleshoot an InDesign question. Im a beginner-to-intermediate user.
I am unable to apply my Paragraph Style to a number of my text boxes. I have tried holding Opt/Alt while choosing the PS with no luck. I have also checked for local overrides and character styles, and there appear to be none. The fly-out menu from the Paragraph Styles menu is almost all greyed-out, so it won't let me select the Clear Overrides option.
However, when I double-click the text box to go into the frame, I am able to select the text directly and then apply the paragraph style to it directly inside the frame. This seems weird; Im hoping there's a way that I can just select the frames normally and apply a paragraph style as usual.
The text came from a Word document that was flowed into each chapter, if that gives any help.

P Spier, thank you very much. What is the work around then to achieve this? Simply selecting all the text in all of the threaded frames and applying the Paragraph Style directly to them? Is it possible to select all of the threaded frames at the same time and apply the Paragraph Style to it? Advice for best method of practice is much appreciated.

Hyperlink text colour styles won't apply in master page

Hello,
I've applied hyperlinks and changed the link styles with ease in all of the content pages. However, I'm unable to change anything on the master page.
All of the hyperlinks work - I am able to link to the content pages/emails - but none of the edit link styles will apply.
But it's a bit wonky, I have had it apply, but completely randomly and only on 1 menu item.
I designed the menu from scratch, without the use of a widget. I thought maybe it was that, so I made a widget menu, and I can't get it to apply any edit link styles as well.
All I want is a simple rollover where the text changes to a different colour. This should be easy!
Please help if you can, it's driving me bonkers!

Clicking a Paragraph Style Does Not Apply Style to Text

I just switched from a PC to a brand new MacBook Pro (OSX Lion 10.7), and I bought InDesign CS5.5. I have been using CS4 on a PC for a couple of years and had no issues. For some reason, I cannot apply Paragraph Styles by placing my cursor in the text and clicking the Paragraph style. It highlights the clicked style for a moment, and then de-highlights all the styles, but does not apply any changes. The only way I can apply a Paragraph Style right now is by right clicking the style and selecting "Apply..." from the drop down menu. It's very puzzling. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. I also have Microsoft Office: Mac 2011 installed on the laptop if that makes a difference to anyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I typeset and edit for my living, and this problem is slowing me down a bit.

Neither. Let's say I click into a paragraph. The current style will be highlighted. If I click on another style (or even attempt to re-apply the same style by clicking on it in the styles pane), it momentarily highlights the new style, then flashes a little bar underneath (like the one that shows up if I were to try to re-organize the styles list by dragging a style to a different pace in the styles list), then all the styles become unselected, but no changes have been applied to the paragraph in question. Very definitely not normal. It is almost as if the pane assumes that I am attempting to drag the style even when I am merely clicking on it. Very weird.

Styles won't hold

Hello all,
I have the strangest problem. When I import styles from one chapter to another, my body text style becomes haunted. It's supposed to be Palatino, and it *says* it's Palatino in the settings. But it's actually Baker Signet, which is a heading style. I can't change it back to Palatino if it thinks it already is! Any idea what could possibly be going on?

One possibility is local override, where two selections of text have the same paragraph style, but look different because some part of the style is changed locally. Another possibility has been suggested by lilia@, where you have two different styles with the same name (each in a different document). If the latter is the case, I'd concentrate on the first chapter of the book, and make sure that all of the styles are present and correct. When you're sure that everything is OK in the first chapter, synchronize each subsequent chapter with the book pallet. This won't help you if you have applied the wrong style to any of the text, and will be less useful if you are using local overrides.
If we were wrong about you using the book function, you can still correct all of the styles in one document, then load them into each of the other documents through the styles pallet, and when there is a conflict, have the incoming style replace the existing one.

Gif file won't animate in Muse's preview mode or in Muse's view in browser mode

Created a gif file with Photoshop that's 7.5MB in size. Placed the gif file on a Muse page. But, the gif won't animate in Muse's preview mode or when Muse sends the page to be viewed in browser mode. I'm using a Mac running OS X 10.9.2 and I'm a creative cloud member using Muse. Any solutions?

Step one to enable the community to help debug what you're encountering would be to provide the URL for the page where the GIF is being used. My first guess would be there are effects applied to the image (i.e. inner glow, bevel, etc.) that require Muse to re-encode the image and Muse does not support encoding animated .gif. It only supports passing animated .gif files through unchanged. (And to get an image to pass through unchanged it needs to have no effects that require rasterization applied in Muse.)
Given you've stated the GIF file is 7.5Mb I have to question your choice of .gif. At 7.5Mb this single file will take ~8 seconds to download on the average US broadband connection and will be much slower for many broadband users and most cellular users. GIF is a reasonable choice for very small short animations used sparingly, but is seldom (if ever) a good choice for larger or longer animations. Better choices for those are to use a video or a tool like Edge Animate to create a HTML5/CSS3 animation. The end result will be vastly more user friendly in terms of page load performance.
A huge percentage of first time visitors to a webpage will cancel the page load rather than waiting 8+ seconds for the page load to complete.

Effects won't work on Text in After Effects

I must be missing some crucial step because I can't get effects to work on my text. I downloaded After Effects CC. I write text, put a solid, ramped background, add an effect, add a keyframe for the effect and see nothing. I copy what tutorials tell me. Nothing. Should if be difficult to see these effects? I tried CC Light Rays and Light Sweep. Just any effect in general won't apply to a text. I can't see it in FULL rendering or in Half/Rough Draft (which is where I want to work).

Drop shadow won't apply

I've added photo's to my 12x12 document and added a stroke to the inside of the photo to make it look like a developed photo and now I want to add a drop shadow. It shows on the in the layers pallette (fx) that I have done so but no drop shadow appears behind my photo. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong (I'm working in elements 10)

    I never did find out how to resolve my issue with the drop shadows on that document but i did have my photo's extending outside of my document so I decided to try starting over. When I opened a new document and opened my photo's I added the drop shadows before extending them beyond the parameters of my document (12x12). The drop shadows worked and I finished my page and discarded the other PSD, not sure if my solution will help you but I've done a couple more pages with no problems. If you do resolve your issue or come to understand why this is happening I would love to know......

I am having this same problem... my layer styles worked fine just yesterday, however now nothing will appear. I have duplicated backgrounds, added new layers, but nothing shows on my image. I've done everything mentioned in this form and it still does not work. I am frustrated to say the least because everything worked fine yesterday when I was using the layer styles. I don't know what I could have done wrong to prevent these from appearing on my image. Any additional tips would be greatly appreciated.

Word for mac won't show doc in print preview and prints blank page.

I have a document from layoutready.com that I have been editing and it is a .doc file originally and won't show up. I've tried saving it as .docx and still nothing. Also, when I create a new document and put in a shape or a text box, it won't show up in print preview or print either. Excel is fine. I can insert a shape onto a worksheet and previews and prints fine. I have sent a document to a friend to test and when they open it in their word (on a pc) it previews and prints fine. I called stupid %*&#@ Microsoft and they want me to sign up for $99 Office 365 to get support. Ergh. Should I try to re-install Word? Oh, and I also updated to Yosemite last night.

Clone stamp tool won't apply

Hello all,
I just moved to CC and I'm having trouble applying the clone stamp tool.
So, I create a duplicate unlocked layer and select my area to clone from using ALT.
When I hover over the area to place the clone it previews what it'll look like, but when I click the mouse it won't apply.
Any ideas folks? I'm on a MacPro late 2013 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5.

Add style to large block of text without affecting existing styles within that text

Hello! First post here.
I have a long document of text that mostly does not have text styles attached (this was a mistake). However, there is a large number of areas of styled text within.
Is there a way to select all the text and apply a style to only the unstyled text without affecting the existing styles?
Doing this by hand text block by text block would take a long long time.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

My iPhone 5 won't display smart text. It did when I initially downloaded the new OS, now those options don't appear at all. Did I click something to make them disappear?
I went into Settings to see if there was a component of it within Messages. I don't see anything.

Office 365 pro plus 2013 update won't apply automatically

We have started to use office 365 pro plus 2013 click to run. The issue / problem we have is that the updates are installing but does not apply. The version of word,excel.. Is old
and i need to manually go to example word and account to apply the updates. I want the updates to automatically apply.
In the config file i have enabled updates. <Updates Enabled="TRUE" />. I have also enabled updates thru group policy and checked that the policy is applying.
In the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\propertyBag i have the following keys:
