Styles disappear from drawer

Hi all,
Having a bit of a problem here. In Pages, I redefined Header 1 and Header 2, then created two new styles below that, Header 3 and Header 4, all with different formatting. Then, I saved the document. Then, because I always wanted these styles to be available, I created a new, blank document, and tried to Import Styles from the first document. I chose Replace Duplicates, of course, just to be sure. When I did, it imported my new Header 1 and Header 2 ... but not Headers 3 and 4. So I tried it again, and this time did not select Replace Duplicates, and only selected Headers 3 and 4. It did it -- but it made them Header 10 and Header 11. And when I tried to change the names, it wouldn't let me.
So, I tried a different approach: I thought I would delete all the text in Document 1, and save as a template. Did not work either -- when I deleted the all text, Header 3 and Header 4 went bye-bye again.
I'm getting rather frustrated. Can't Pages retain custom styles when they're not being used? If so, that seems rather weird.

Can you sort out your punctuation and break your thoughts up into paragraphs? That just gave me a minor headache.
As near as I can make out you want to import your styles from EndNote? I didn't know it had any.
How is losing styles a problem if you are not using them?
If you are using them you will not lose them. If you want to keep them, leave them.
If you wish to work in iBooks Author why not start with iBooks Author?
If you wish to create a template, and you want all the styles to be available, you will need to create them.
Pages does not work around blank templates without you first creating material. You can delete the text after you have created the Styles but the best practice with Pages is make sample text and objects, from which to make styles and placeholders, then substitute in the final material by drag and drop or cut paste match style.
Pages will import Styles from other .pages and Word .doc files, if that is what you want but Styles go with the document not the Application. Pages will even selectively import styles so you can have a document which holds every imaginable style and then only import the ones you need.
Best however is ti construct an exact template for what you want to reuse.
T.O.C. is a more or less one off process, so you leave that till last, after you have assembled the entire publication. It works by collecting all instances of selected Styles eg Heading 1, 2 and 3 and inserting them into a specially formated block of text at the point of TOC insertion. It only searches back from that point till either the end of the document or till the next T.O.C. It also only searches material in the main text inside the set margins of a Word processing document.

Layer Styles Disappearing from my list

When I first launch Photoshop and load a preset layer style I can get a full list of available presets to load. After clicking on an element and actually using a layer style on it I no longer can get my full list of available presets to load. The list is cut to 1/3 of the original list.
So the full list is available and in the folder but once using a layer style it seems most of the layers styles disappear from the load menu. I have had no problem with this for months and made no changes over the last few days so this is mind boggling.
Is this a known bug? Any suggestions?

Styles disappearing from the drawer after scrolling

I have more styles in my document than fit in the styles drawer. But when I try to scroll, the drawer becomes empty. I tried this on two different Macs with 10.9 and Pages 5.2. The document was imported from an older version of pager.
After moving a style the same happens. The complete drawer becomes blank.

Known bug in Pages 5.
The Styles list claps out after you add too many styles.
As for nearly all such problems, don't use Pages 5 if you can at all avoid it.
Use Pages '08/'09 if you have them.

TS1702 My purchased Draw Something App has disappeared from my iPhone, how do I get it back and will I have lost my points and current game?

I have been using my draw something app for about a year and a half and suddenly it has disappeared from my iPhone. What do i do now? I had loads of points and was up to about 30 on my latest game so if I download the app again will I go back to the start.

Does a spotlight search on the device indicate the app is installed?
Is the app selected to sync in iTunes?

Folders are disappearing from my desktop I am on 10.6.8

Folders disappeared from my desktop. All the files in a FileMaker Advanced 11 folder which was on my HD disappeared but the folder remained. Files that were on a backup server disappeared - first half, then a few days later the remaining files were gone. On a newly created backup, when folders were recovered from the backup they could not be copied. Duplicate folders had to be created and the files moved to them before they could be copied. Even though the original folders contained files, they showed 0 bytes. After the files were moved the new folder showed 720 KB.

Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks. Each of your icons on your desktop is stored as a window in the window server, not as an alias. The more you have stored, the more strain it puts on the window server. Check your desktop for unnecessary icons and clear them out.
Keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop can prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. Even creating a single folder on your Desktop and placing all current and future clutter inside, then logging out and back in can provide an immediately noticeable speed boost, particularly for the Finder.
And it is why Apple invented 'Stacks'.

The location bar has disappeared from the top of any tab that I open. How can I get it back?

The location bar has disappeared from the top of any tab I open, so there is nowhere to type in a web address. Could I have accidentally made this happen? How do I get it back?

Just to be clear, it's not below the tab bar either? (That's the new style in Firefox 4 and 5.)
To hide or show toolbars, you can use the old View menu.
If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to temporarily display the classic menu bar.
View menu > Toolbars > ''check'' Navigation Toolbar
If you are viewing the navigation toolbar but it's incomplete or corrupted, you can reset your toolbars.
View menu > Toolbars > Customize
In the large dialog with the icons, toward the bottom, click Restore Default Set.
Does any of that help?

Help!! My linked text file disappears from the links palette

I've set my preferences so that InDesign creates a link when placing text and spreadsheet files, and when I first place the file it appears in the Links palette just fine.
However, as soon as I make a change in the original text file, it disappears from the Links palette!
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm using CS2.

Just figured it out - Didn't notice that I wasn't setting the "Photo Credit" paragraph style. Problem solved!

Button Disappears from Stage

I’ve created a two buttons in a frame labeled
“child.” The instance name for one button is
“orientationBtn” and the other is
“stepBtn.” When you click on the orientationBtn you are
taken to a frame labeled “orientation” which holds a
puzzle written in AS3. When the puzzle is complete, two more
buttons appear. One button (playAgain) will reset the puzzle to
play again. The other button (noThanks) is a
gotoAndPlay(“child”) so the user can return to the
menu.
If the user presses a certain sequence of buttons –
orientationBtn, completes the puzzle, noThanks they are taken back
to the menu. If s/he then chooses to complete the puzzle again and
presses the same sequence of buttons, the following error message
appears after pressing the noThanks button - TypeError: Error
#1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object
reference. Interestingly, the null object is that my
“stepBtn” has disappeared from the stage. Any ideas why
this would happen?

SSID disappearing from Aeronet C1240

Hi,
I'm having a strange problem in the office with one of my Aeronet C1240 access points.
My current topology is a hub-and-spoke with my HQ which contains 2 Cisco wireless LAN controllers with version 6 OS. I have 10 AP's, 2 of which are in the HQ building and 8 AP's spread over VPN using HREAP that are in our branches throughout the country.
The problem that I'm having is specifically related to one of my AP's and that is that the ESSID located on the management VLAN keeps disappearing from the device..... this seems to be a local problem as we haven't experienced any thing of this sort with any other branch in our topological setup. Currently we have 2 VLANs trunked to the AP, VLAN10 which is a guest VLAN that shows up without any problem and VLAN1 (management VLAN) which is for employees.
The ESSID from the management VLAN keeps disappearing and we can't figure out why this is happening as any configuration change has not been implemented and as stated previously seems to be a localized problem.
Checking the device output both VLAN's 1 and 10 are propogating to the device and each sub interface IP is ping'able.
I have never come across any issue like this before and am totally baffled by what the cause of this could be.......
Can anyone give me any advice or tell me which output is necessary to help debug??

Firewire HD disappeared from finder

Hello-
I have a Seagate FW harddrive attached to my Mac Pro. It's icon recently disappeared from my desktop and finder. It still shows up in disk utility though. I have tried ejecting it and unplugging it and letting it sit. Still no luck. My finder preferences are set to show HD's (my main HD shows up fine). Those are the 2 common fixes I've read about here...anyone have any ideas?

Almost all vendor style FW cases come as FAT32, and I doubt they use Oxford 911+ FireWire bridge.
There are other reports of FW drives failing to show that once did. WD MyBook Pro a couple times.
Using a PCIe FireWire controller may help, but at least some required replacement from Apple.
It use to be pretty much required after the 10.3.0 problem with FW drives to never run an OS update with a FW drive connected, even like recent Security Update.
In any event, anytime you suspect hardware issue of any kind it is probably prudent to run Apple Hardware Test; check System Profile: Firewire (so ports and bus show up?) as first step.
SMC Reset would also be a good idea. With LaCie they often recommended unplugging power and every cable going into and from the Mac for 15 minutes to discharge or bleed any current.
Plugging equipment into UPS might not solve this issue, but can't hurt and may prevent problems.
Safe Mode: hold down shift key (mentioned a couple times in Apple.com/support
Single User Mode: command + s
Verbose Mode: command + v
Repairing a FW drive in SUM would be more challenge than it is worth. Usually only the boot drive gets repaired or mounted.
FW PCIe: Aaxeon is one of your best bets. Can run $109 for FW800.

You likely havent lost the application, you most likely just lost the icon on the dock. To re-add the iMovie icon, follow the following steps:

Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
Tip: You can change where the Dock displays and customize its animation style in Dock preferences. See Customize the Dock.

Calibri disappeared from Fonts list

Calibri and the other MS fonts that came out at the same time (Cambria, Constantia, etc) have disappeared from the fonts list in my Formatting toolbar. Strangely, they still appear in the list in the Font dialog (Format > Font).
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the Fonts list?
I'm running Robohelp 8 on Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.

Formatting toolbar shows fonts sets present in the RoboHelp project. (Format->Font Sets)
"A font set is a collection of fonts to apply in style sheets or character and paragraph formatting. For example, you can create a font set with Verdana as the first font, and then (in order) Arial® and Sans Serif as substitute fonts. If users do not have Verdana installed, the viewer uses Arial and then Sans Serif."
Whereas the Font (Format->Font) dialog shows combined list of fonts on the system as well as font sets in the project.
Please verify if the font sets in your project has been modified/deleted. (You can do so by creating a new RoboHelp project and verifying if the required font appears in the formatting tool bar fonts dropdown for the new project). If it appears, then close RoboHelp project. Go to new project folder on the disk and copy rhfontset.apj file from new project to your current project. PLEAE NOTE that this will overwrite any existing modifications done in the font sets in your project.
I hope this resolves the issue.

OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this.

You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.
