Styling Captions

I have a caption setup with a numbered list and the word "figure" beforethe numbering (this is set in the paragraph sytle, not in the caption setup). The result is something like "Figure 1-1 This is a sample picture"
- I can't seem to style the "Figure X-X" independent of the text that is in the metadata For example, I want "Figure X-X" to be bold while "This is a sample picture" is to be regular.
- The metada sytle has a default other than "none". Any idea how I can change this to just "none" by default?

Actually, I didn't notice it before, but there is a specific sytle associated with the "Figure X-X". This is separate from the metadata text. By doing this, no manual modification is necessary.

  • How do I output interactive slides to HTML5?

    I need to produce a simple interactive slideshow to HTML5. I'm very new to Flash, but quite experienced in most of the CC suite.
    I followed a tutorial last night and created a slideshow of 4 images and 4 buttons, which worked fine when output to and .swc and HTML wrapper. But when I Published using the Tooklkit Create for JS, the slideshow continuously cycled and the buttons (from the button library – with UP/OVER/DOWN/HIT) flashed and cycled.
    Is the code, that I was prompted to write in the ActionScript, available in a library of snippets? Otherwise, if I start a new project and want slightly different actions, how will I know what code to enter?
    I've used Muse sucessfully and used the Slideshow Widget, editing and placing the forward and back buttons, styling captions and removing the thumbnail option. I can output this as code (Export to HTML), and the preview works fine. I can also open this in Dreamweaver.
    Would I be best advised to continue working in Muse, or will I be missing a whole lot of tricks not using Flash.
    Is there any other Adobe application that would beter suit my task, and allow a CMS?

    Hi Jerry,
    Would you mind reposting this question over on the Flash Professional forums (http://adobe.ly/XnCf1)?  This forum is primarily for end users, the Pro forums will get you in touch with a wider developer audience.

  • Exporting based on Object Styles?

    Hi, I'm hoping that Jongware or someone can help with with a question I have.  I'm wondering if there is a way with scripting to
    gather and export the contents of text frames based on their object style?
    So for instance, let's say I have a document that has a series of linked text frames with a style of "body", mixed in with a series of text frames that are styled "captions". Would it be possible to export the text frames styled "caption", and retain the styles within them?
    (The goal is a cleanly styled export that we can give back to authors for revising in Microsoft Word).
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Fuzzy/blurry text in Captivate 7

    Hi alll,
    We recently upgraded from Captivate 6 -> 7. Usually we use transparent text boxes for text, and when publishing in Captivate 7, the text gets blurry/fuzzy, regardless of color, size, font etc. We had the same problem in an earlier version of Captivate (I think maybe it was Captivate 3), and the workaround then was to highlight at least one charachter within each text box, but this does not work in Captivate 7.
    Funny thing is that if I just drag the generated .htm file into my browser window, the text is crisp and clear, but when I run the same module from our LMS, it all gets blurry and fuzzy.
    Any help to avoid this would be very appreciated.

    Captivate text displaying blurry has been an issue since day one. I've had to deal with it and spend dozens of hours of R&D to try to figure it out... and as you see I'm still searching for an answer. It seems soooo simple but it must be extremely complex because Adobe just can't figure it out! It was the same thing in Flash. We are a global org producing e-learning for fortune 500 companies and at one point Captivate was our most used tool. Due to this issue and a bunch of others, our shop is now doing 75% of our projects in Storyline, 20% in Lectora, and we have ZERO clients asking for Captivate for the last 2 years. When a client spends tens of thousands of dollars on a project, they don't want to have to look at blurry, jagged text. I wish it wasn't this way because I am a highly experienced Cp developer now having to learn Storyline. But Adobe has either ignored this issue or just cannot fix it. In the image below, you can see the differences in the way Captivate displays text and the horrifying difference between Cp and Flash that I just don't get. That one causes a huge issue when we drop Flash stuff in a Cp slide and are required to stay consistent with font type and size.
    Keep in mind, the problem everyone is frustrated about is mainly text that uses Transparent style caption. It appears better when in a styled caption bubble. The blurry text issue can be somewhat fixed by applying a white highlight on all the text. Although, it is still not what we are looking for. And, this extra step in development is painful, costly, and there is always a few that we miss and then we get complaints, etc.
    Man, that first one is just nasty!
    One last thing I discovered that works, but not all of the time, is that if you create a dummy variable with no value, then put your text in a transparent text caption, add a few spaces at the end and then insert that variable, you will see crisp, clean text as if it was html. Again, too much work and not a consistent solution!!
    Hope that helps for those who are new to captivate, and for those like me, who have lost too many hours of precious life and money on this.
    See ya, have to continue my Storyline training now...

    I'm coming around to that idea. I tried the in5 plugin demo for InDesign for exporting HTML5, which works very well at keeping the page layout, but then why not just use Muse.

  • Muse image metadata and global caption styling

    When will Muse be able to import image metadata and perform global caption styling with accurate positioning for lightboxes and slideshows?

    I've done some testing.
    if images are uploaded to the Facebook Wall, the Comments field that Aperture presents before uploading the image becomes the Description field on Facebook.
    however, if the images are uploaded to a known Facebook Album, the Version Name becomes the Description.
    both of these situations are not logical. in the case of uploading to the Wall, 'Comments' should probably be 'Description'. I'll report them to Apple's bugreport.
    images seem to be scaled down to fit within 2048x2048 pixels.

    My Spry gallery is working just fine other than I'd like to use italics within some of my image captions. I noticed this line of code in photos.xml.

    Hi Flat Top,
    perhaps, you need a program that understands the structure of
    jpegs like exiftool. Momentarily i use a powershell script:
    get-childitem images\*.jpg |
    foreach {
    $image = [String]::Concat("Images\", $_.name)
    $thumb = [String]::Concat("Thumbs\", $_.name)
    perl exiftool.pl -c "%d deg %.4f min" -p FmtImage.txt $image
    | Out-File xml.xml -append
    perl exiftool.pl -c "%d deg %.4f min" -p FmtThumb.txt $thumb
    | Out-File xml.xml -append
    with FmtImage.txt:
    <photo
    path = "$FileName"
    width = "$ImageWidth"
    height = "$ImageHeight"
    Kommentar = "$Comment"
    GPSLatitude = "$GPSLatitude, $GPSLatitudeRef"
    GPSLongitude = "$GPSLongitude, $GPSLongitudeRef"
    GPSPosition = "$GPSPosition"

    Date_TimeOriginal ="$DateTimeOriginal"
    F_Number = "$FNumber"

  • Hyperlink to a webpage in a media widget caption

    Is there a way to make a link to an external website in caption text?
    I inserted a media widget and a video clip. Below the clip is the text caption of the talking head speaker's name and a line of text describing what he is saying. I'm trying to create an external web link to IMDB when one clicks the name of the speaker. Can't seem to be able to do that!
    Any ideas or am I doing something wrong here?
    MB

    If you input the text in any part of iBA - within the body text  or a captions - you can select whatever word or words you chose, and using the make a link  option in the Inspector - select the  webpage option and type in the FULL URL i.e. http://www. xxxxxxxxx.com or net etc,.
    the selected text will  be underlined and colour changed to  whatever your style is - default - for  reasons known only to Apple  is red as  opposed to the internationally used blue.
    If you want it changed - disable  - make inactive - the link text you selected - open the Styles drawer and  look for  "hyperlink" in red.... now change your text colour to blue ( or choice) disable the underline if you want - when done click the down arrow to the right of hyperlink in the styles drawer and  choose
    "redefine style from selection"      your  text - and every  other link in the  book will now be as you styled it.

  • Captions in Photo Album

    I've been trying to add captions to the photo album demonstrated in the Spry demo page (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/gallery_pe/dynamic/index.html).
    Applying the method suggested in DBooth's tutorial for an earlier version of a Spry album, I added an attribute, "description",  to the <photo> element in the xml. In the html, I placed {@description} immediately beneath the image in div="picture". This worked in the DBooth version I built, but not in this one, following the code for the dynamic version above.
    Here's what I have:
    http://www.lumina-media.com/gallerytest/wjgallery2.html
    (Ignoring styling for the time being, the description tag shows up in the padding area. I'll deal with css later.)
    But it doesn't work. Can anyone help me?
    I'm attaching both the html and xml files.
    Thank you in advance.

    When the thumbnail is clicked we want the detailed region updated along with with the main image,
    I think this section of code is where it belongs.
    <div id="thumbnails" spry:region="dsPhotos">

    OK, some confusion here, description is now "caption", this was changed in XML file in this thread.
    The xml file is above:
    Then in my html file I have only added:
    <div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos">Hello{caption}</div>
    Then my gallery_xds.js file looks like:
    function PhotosFilter(ds, row, rowIndex)
    row.path = row["large/@base"] + row["photos/photo/@path"];
        row.thumbpath = row["thumbnail/@base"] + row["photos/photo/@thumbpath"];
        row.caption = row["photos/photo/@caption"];
        return row;
    The result gives me the "Caption1" once and it is the same for all, no refresh.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The banner at the top of the screen is called the Document Message Bar (DMB), it is purple for forms, and blue for certified or signed documents.
    The document message bar can only be turned off by changing the program preferences.  You can NOT script the DMB per form.
    In Acrobat or Reader, you can go to Edit --> Preferences, Locate the Forms category and check the box "Always hide forms document message bar".  Turning this off in Acrobat does not turn it off in Reader, each applications preferences are independent.

  • Better SOP for images with image captions?

    Hi,
    FM 8.04, Win XP.
    When I work with images that shall have image captions, I use a pre-defined one row, one column table format that has a a table caption set to below. I then import the image into the one cell.
    However, in some cases I would like images be anchored at bottom of columns, rather than at top of columns (or floating). The thing is that since the anchored frame sits inside a table cell, it is the table's placement that I must change. And tables do not have the "At bottom of column" option.
    Any suggestion for a better standard of procedure for "At bottom of column" images, with retained caption functionality?
    TIA,
    /Mats

    Mats,
    You could always just use only anchored frames and add an additional
    text frame to the anchored frame in the proper location relative to
    the inserted graphic. Since the anchored frame is part of the flow,
    the included text frames in these behave correctly with respect to
    autonumbering and being picked up in the proper in generated lists.
    If you create the styled anchored on a Reference page (in a text frame
    of course) then you can quickly get at the proper "template" of what
    you need using copy & paste.

  • caption align="left" for table not working in browser

    Hi,
    I am using Dreamweaver CS6.  I have placed two tables on my page and am using <caption align="left"> to left-justify the captions.  This looks fine in Design View, but when I bring the page up in a browser, the captions are still centered.  I have tested this in I.E. 9 and Chrome, which are the only two browsers I have installed, and the result is the same in both.
    Any ideas?  I am fairly new to Dreamweaver, and have taken classes in basic Dreamweaver and HTML/CSS.  I have searched online help, and could find nothing about this issue.
    TIA!
    Denise

    Not meaning to beat a dead horse but I want to assure you that the <hr> or <hr /> tag is NOT deprecated in HTML or XHTML doc types.
    However, the HTML attributes for it: align, noshade, size and width are all deprecated in HTML 4.01 and not supported  in HTML5.  This is why you must use CSS to style it.
    As for IE not displaying correctly, something else is amiss in your code.
    As an example, this code has no errors & tests fine in IE7, 8, 9, current Chrome, Opera & Firefox.

    If these occur on all sites, you may have an unwanted extension (or more than one) that is injecting the ads into sites. Try this:
    Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
    Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Does that flush the ads?
