Stylus Pen Problem - Touchsmart TM2-1070US

Hello Everybody.
My Windows 7 64 Bit Touchsmart crashed some time ago and i successfully fixed the system, it needed a new hard drive.
Everything on the notebook is fine except the stylus pen. The screen responds to my finger touch but does not respond to the pen at all.
I purchased a genuine replacement HP stulys pen, same problem!
I checked device manager and no problems. 
I don't think these pens carries batteries because i am not seeing anything to unscrew or maybe I am wrong?
Am i missing a driver for the pen itself?
Help needed!

Hello Honourable, welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that your having an issue with the stylus working as a source of touch for your notebook. I will try to assist you with this.
I would like to start by providing you this document:
    HP TouchSmart PCs - Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 7.
You can try unchecking the box for "Use your finger as an input device" that may allow you to use the stylus. If not recheck it.
After that skip down to this section :A touch occurs next to the point touched, not at the point of touch, and follow the document it leads to on Calibrating the Screen.
Then if need go back and complete the other steps.
You may also need a wider tip on the stylus. It is based on the surface of whats being used to touch.

  • Touch Screen Stops Working Sometimes on TouchSmart tm2

    I have a TouchSmart tm2-2052nr running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The last couple of days, my touch screen (and the pen) stop working. Restarting the computer usually fixes the problem, but not always. After switching the view or closing the laptop is when the problem occurs the most.
    I have tried various things to try and fix this on my own, but I am stumped now. This includes doing a system restore to before when I started to notice the problem, running virus scans, and reinstalling the Wamcom Digitizer Pen driver (sp48676).
    I have recently replaced my hard drive and therefore have done a complete system recovery. I have removed several programs and installed others, but nothing that had been different from before my hard drive crashed. Most recently since the crash I had installed Microsoft Office Pro, Adobe CS3, and Adobe Digital Editions. I uninstalled Skype, HP User Guides 0173, and HP QuickWeb Installer. A lot of the TouchSmart apps have also been removed except for the DVD one and Paint It!
    My restore points also list "HP Configured" around the time I uninstalled the TouchSmart apps, but I don't know what this all entails.
    I should also note that when the TouchScreen stops working, a lot of the drivers under "Human Interface Devices" in the Device Manager go missing.

    I actually did read that and step through it. It did not help.
    However, I think I may have found the solution. Because this is a problem of inconsistency, I cannot say 100% that the following solution works, but so far I have not had any problems.
    1. Make sure the touchscreen is working. If not, shut down the computer and start it again until the touchscreen works.
    2. Go to the device manager. Look under "Human Interface Devices" for some sort of USB drivers. There should be two (2). These are the problem children. (If the touchscreen is not working, these two drivers will not even show up, hence the reason for restarting the computer in step one)
    3. Right-click on one and select "Update Driver Software". Let it run its course and select "Okay" when it is done. You will notice that the name of the driver changes.
    4. Repeat for the other "USB" driver.
    After the driver software is updated, the names should be "Wacom Gesture Touch" and "Wacom Pen".
    Like I said, I am not positive yet that this is the fix, but so far so good. After a few days, I will let everyone know either way.

  • I have an HP Touchsmart tm2 and I recieved a heat error, there is an awful sound from speakers now!

    I turned on my new HP Touchsmart tm2 one morning and received a heat error.  Since then, it makes the most annoying sound I have ever heard.  It it a high pitched sound and the only way I can describe it is that thousands of locusts are chattering inside my laptop.  The only way to get rid of the sound is to mute the internal speakers.  It doesn't make the sound if I hook it up to external speakers through the headphone jack.  I live in Oklahoma and the temperature has been 110 every day. I never leave my laptop in the car but have to drive to the office and home. Of course, this is in air conditioning but it is so hot here, nobody's cars really ever cool down.  I called HP and they said I should do a system restore and I don't really see the need for that.  It sounds to me like the heat has ruined some sound component in my laptop.  All of my drivers are updated and none of the tests I run show a problem with the laptop.  Any advice?

    I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the sound, as well as the mute button on your computer. I would like to confirm the steps that you have taken for the refreshed your computer, rolled back, and rebooted. What steps did you take to perform these tasks?
    Also, so that I am able to provide specific steps for your computer. I would like to know, the full model number of your computer. I have included the following document, 'Guide to finding your model number'.

    You are welcome.
    It appears that you will not be able to order the Recovery Discs.  Therefore, you will have to buy a full copy of the OS.
    In the future, you should make certain to create the Recovery Discs when the computer is new.  This will save you many problems.  I made the same mistake myself.  It is not a good feeling when you don't have the discs.

  • Touchsmart TM2 Atapi drive error...

    Hi, I recently bought a Touchsmart TM2 and bought a 64GB SSD (Crucial M225) to use with it. I took the standard drive out, put in the SSD, and installed Windows 7 Home Premium from scratch, along with all the drivers on the HP website.
    Since then Windows reports ATAPI controller errors from time to time and the laptop locks up at the same time, with the drive access light constantly on.
    It doesn't do it with the standard drive, so I'm wondering if there is a problem somewhere with the driver or firmware..
    It should just work, its a standard SATA device and if it doesn't (and the drive is fine), it suggests there is an error in the laptop somewhere. (Be it firmware or driver)
    Just wondered if anyone had done similar and experienced problems?

    Just to give a bit of an update to an old thread.
    I raised this with HP Tech Support who where very helpful. In the end they raised it to the developers or technical team (i.e. the really skilled people who actually know what they're doing as opposed to reading off scripts and having a slight technical skill) and I haven't heard back from them.
    That was about 5 months ago. The suspicion is that there is some hardware incompatibility between the SSD drive and the SATA controller as errors and hangs can happen before it even boots into Windows and thus its not a driver issue.
    Every time I boot windows I end up having to wait anything from 3 to 10 minutes whilst the interface sorts itself out and usually from then on its fine.
    Shame really as its really getting to the point now where I'll stick the old drive back in and just won't bother with the SSD. Which is a shame because its rather quick with the SSD in.

  • Bamboo stylus/pen fails on iPad Air

    my Bamboo stylus/pen works with my iPad 1 but barely works with the iPad Air.  What's up with that?  I tried it on a few drawing apps but it no luck.

    I have tried 3 rubber-tipped styuses without success. Both with and without the screen protector, they just didn't want to work with the Air. Made some calls to makers of the current note-taking apps. They say that it is due to change in the design of the screen. Seems that this is such a problem that there are at least four new designs in route to market. Three were shown at the recent CES.
    Adonit make a new thin tip pen called the 'Jot Script.' I have been unable to find one in Phoenix to see if it works and how well.
    The new PENCIL from 53, the makers of the app Paper, have begun shipping a new low-power bluetooth stylus (for $49+) which looks impressive in the videos on Youtube.
    The new Creative Pen by Wacom for $100 is to steep for me. Its Bluetooth also.
    Apple Support pretends to be unaware of the problem. Further, they don't appear to be helping with the issue. My daughter is heading back to Grad School and I was going to buy her an Air for note-taking. At present, it appears if it is safer to buy an iPad 2.

  • Hard disk driver for touchsmart tm2 1020

    Hello:
           I am unable to boot from my touchsmart tm2 1020 it seems bootmgr is missing. When  I try to boot from recovery disks I made myself all options fail. I am trying to boot from a windows 7 x32 recovery disk I downloaded and it seems hard disk is not detected and that I have to load driver manually. Can anyone tell me which driver  should I load?
            If this also fails i suppose I should reinstall windows 7 from scratch.Notebook is more than two years old and microsoft tag in the down-side is not readable, I suppose HP support could tell me it if I phone them  and provide the serial number of the pc, right?

    I don't believe it will open a Word document, but Writepad allows for handwritten conversion of notes to text and then to email. Might help you some of the way...
